@MrsC87 Hello Charlie you beauty!!! How're you doing lovely? I imagine the first while is pretty overwhelming, albeit snuggly newborn lovely?

@MrsEG 'shelled us like peas' HAHAHAAA. Incredible. I'm weirdly looking forward to labour, but I think it's because I've been reading up on it for about a year while TTC so I've tried to normalise it. That said, I'm sure I will look back in horror at this comment come Feb!!!

@Fivebyfive2 ooo that's an awesome tip - I'll see if our local one is putting on an event. I am utterly clueless about prams etc. Enjoy your day of relaxing - and fingers crossed you get the car tonight.

@BostonFern corrr that's some going - well done guys! So funny about the third leg comment too haha!

How's everyone feeling this hump day? We've told everybody now we've had the 12 week scan and it has been absolutely incredible to be honest. My grandparents are so excited to graduate to great grandparents, both sets cried and celebrated with toasts haha.

Delilah7 · 31/07/2019 10:04

@MrsC87 he's so scrummy 😍

Ethan says hello!

@Delilah7 what a cutie waving! Hi Ethan!!

Guys, I forgot my major news: last night I ate VEGETABLES!! Without wanting to heave!!!!! And they were not potatoes!! LOVING second trimester life so far.

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 10:53

@MrsR16 Ahh that’s so lovely :) It’s weird for DH isn’t it, I don’t think they really know what to expect in the early days?! I’m massive at the mo (even at 10 weeks!! This info in my app this morning though reassured me a bit!) and he was like LOOK AT YOUR BELLY! He looked so shocked. I was like hun I’m pregnant with twins, better get used to this haha! Hope it goes amazing today - you’ll have to share the pics!! Are you finding out the sex?

@Fivebyfive2 Gorgeous names! Enjoy your day off - hope it’s as relaxing as can be with all that work going on! Ooh let us know how the event goes this weekend - looks like there’s one near me in a few weeks and I really want some pro advice on twin prams! You don’t see them anywhere!

@Bettythecat Glad you’re feeling a bit better! I actually feel okay-ish today, still can’t eat hot/cooked food cos of this horrible taste in my mouth but I don’t feel as queasy. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 10:57

Whoops completely missed we’d gone on to another page!

@BostonFern Sounds like you’ve got loads done!! My dad called round yesterday with a list of things he wants to do at our house before babies arrive - he’d even drawn little plans haha. Hey if he wants to strip walls for us he’s more than welcome!!

@purplefig Honestly if you were to listen to my Mum, it sounds a breeze! To be fair with my sis she had her so fast she didn’t even make it to the delivery ward and had her on a bed in a corridor! Some women just have all the luck!
Ah it must be so lovely to have everyone know. It’s our 12 week scan two weeks today I cannot wait to just let our friends know after weeks of lies!
Also I’m jealous you ate veg haha! I have bought some edamame pasta to see if I can disguise it that way haha!

@Delilah7 Oh he is just scrummy, he’s growing so fast!! How have you been keeping, did you get everything sorted with your pram/car seats?

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 10:58

Oops forgot to upload the thing in my app - this is what came up today about twin pregnancy weight gain. I’d say I’m definitely gonna be closer to the 12lbs than the 5, but I feel a bit more ‘okay’ about it now! My belly is massive and I can’t suck it in anymore either!

BabySquid · 31/07/2019 11:07

@purplefig excellent about the vegetables! So at your scan did they date you differently? I'm so excited for mine on Friday.
@Delilah7 Ethan is so sweet I love that elephant 🖤
@MrsC87 Charlie is so cute. them cheeks 🥰

So guys I was just thinking about my scan on Friday, I didn't read the letter coz DH opened it to let me know the date of it... do I need to take anything with me? Also, do you have your handheld notes? I wasn't given anything other than my bounty pack at the booking apt so wondering if I should have been given something then or if it's all online now?!

purplefig · 31/07/2019 11:16

@BabySquid yes they pushed me forward a few days which felt a bit cheeky - like I've skipped some pregnancy! Only a few days, but happy to be at that 12 week mark already. On my letter I was asked to bring my maternity notes with me - and they did take them off me / add stuff to them at my appointment. It could be online / in an app where you live though - you could ring your midwife unit to clarify? Also just a heads up, they take your blood again at the 12 week scan. All the best for Friday - it's the best feeling seeing them up on the screen happy as Larry.

@MrsEG I'm really pleased you're OK with having a belly / weight gain, I'm just about there too. I think it's such a weird thing to get your head around but when you really think about what's going on in there, it's totally justified. Are you going to be tracking something like 6 weeks ahead? So your 12 week bump will look more like an 18 bump, and most people are showing by then I'd have thought. So funny about your mum and sister - that must've escalated quickly! It is really nice having everybody know, I don't really like secrets...I always feel like I'm going to trip up. Not long to go for you now. LOVE the edamame pasta trickery....fingers crossed it works!

@Fivebyfive2 we have got a local mothercare event, so huge big thanks for flagging that as it's something DH and I definitely need as clueless first timers Grin .

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 11:26

@purplefig I was told at an early appt you track at least 6 weeks ahead but as mine are fraternal I’ll be even bigger still, as I have two babies, two placentas, two sacs and extra fluid. I’ve had to buy maternity clothes this week as none of my jeans will do up anymore and I’m only 10 weeks. Showed my sister and she said I look now like she did at 18 weeks! On loads of twin blogs I looked at they all had noticeable bumps at around 9-10 weeks. I’ll get DH to take a pic tomorrow morning, it’s kinda unreal! Lovely in many ways too though, gives me comfort they’re growing away nicely in there :)
Yeah I feel like I’m gonna trip up all the time and I see my friends quite often. I’m fairly sure they haven’t guessed though but I could be wrong!

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 11:35

@purplefig This thread was interesting - I’m very similar to her 9 and 10 week pics at the mo! twocametrue.com/honey-i-blew-up-my-belly-week-by-week-pregnant-twin-belly-pictures/

ELW85 · 31/07/2019 11:45

Morning all! Mind if I join?
Thank you @purplefig for linking me :)

Had an early reassurance scan today after some spotting, and had the amazing news that I’m just under 6 weeks, 4mm and a heartbeat seen!
I now feel like I can join a pregnancy thread if you’ll have me?
Due 22nd March although this may have moved out by a couple of days.

BostonFern · 31/07/2019 11:51

@purplefig thanks- it's mostly been down to DP, he's done most of the work.
Aww, what a lovely reaction from your grandparents.
Yay for vegetables! The second trimester is so much better than the first!

@Delilah7 Ethan's such a cutie!

@MrsEG That's so lovely of your Dad! My mums been helping move furniture and paint, Dads been lending us all his tools (he'd loved to have helped more but he's waiting for heart surgery 😬).

@BabySquid I had my handheld notes so took those, but nothing else-maybe a book and food as you can be there waiting quite a while!

@ELW85 Congratulations!

purplefig · 31/07/2019 12:07

@MrsEG oh wow yeah of course, you've got so many extra bits in there!! I can't wait to have a bump tbh, so slightly envious Grin - the blogger looks properly pregnant at 10 weeks. Deffo get your DH to take a pic plz! Oh also, my dad is exactly the same at our house - he's helped with so much already and we've just about tied up the main stuff. I mentioned to him yesterday a couple of little things we want to do and he's like "yep, yep, we can definitely do that." I think they just like to feel useful. I'll take it Grin

@ELW85 so happy to have you here and so so sooooo happy for you! March is such a gorgeous time for a birthday too, but I'm a biased spring lover.

@BostonFern yes but I'm sure you did some excellent project management, so it still counts! That's really reassuring to hear that, as I was not enjoying 1st trimester life.

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 12:21

@purplefig I will; I’m annoyed I didn’t start pics sooner now really but going to start this week from 10 weeks so I can see how it grows. I’m already being encouraged to slather on the BioOil and moisturiser!
Dads are the best aren’t they?! He’s even had a think about our drive and getting a pram in and out and is going to re-do the gate to make it easier! Hadn’t even crossed my mind!

@BostonFern Oh bless your dad, I hope he’s okay!

@ELW85 Welcome! March is a fab month, we got married in March last year. I’m a Spring lover too!

ELW85 · 31/07/2019 13:04

@BostonFern @purplefig @MrsEG - thanks ladies!
My EDD is also DH’s birthday so he’s going to have to get used to sharing the lovely spring!
It’s also about a week after our wedding anniversary too, so March is going to be a busy/expensive month!

purplefig · 31/07/2019 13:20

@MrsEG good shout - I'm going to start now too, even though I'm pretty sure it's just bloat! Nevertheless I've been using Nivea body cream every day. I know they say it's genetics and there's nothing you can do to prevent stretchmarks, but still...it's nice to feel proactive. And I have lizard skin, so it's for the best anyway. Awwwwww your dad is such a cutie!

@ELW85 Oh wow it definitely is, but full of so many good memories too. (Pregnancy has made me unbearably mushy).

I don't want to brag, but guys, I've eaten: lettuce, sweetcorn, raspberries and tomatoes today. This from the girl who was subsisting on potatoes until a few days ago!!!

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 13:21

@ELW85 Fun!! March is a fab month for a wedding. For ours we had 16 degrees and glorious sunshine - it then snowed the next day!!
My EDD at the moment is 26 Feb but that’s based on 40 weeks which I’m assured won’t happen. It’s more likely I’ll be induced between 37/38 weeks if they haven’t already arrived by then (hopefully not though - I’m keen for them to hang on in there until 37 weeks!)

How are you finding it all so far? I’m only 10 weeks myself so hardly brimming with knowledge but I will give you the advice I’ve found good:
Look at the NHS guidance on what food/things to avoid and ignore everything else - if you google every food you’ll find some article from the corner of nowhere telling you it’s not safe and it’s not worth the stress. Stick to NHS and avoid all else!
My nausea and exhaustion kicked in between 6-7 weeks - eat whatever you can and go to bed at 6pm if you feel you need to; don’t worry about nutrients and powering through! Carbs are your friend.
If you do have nausea, seabands are a lifesaver
Run any exercise by your midwife - it’s surprising the limitations on certain things (even yoga!) so get her to give you a yes or no. On the flip side I have been so tired and ill I’ve not done anything more than walking (some days I don’t even do that) and that’s absolutely bloody fine.
You may find you are ravenous from 6 weeks on - I have been - my midwifes advice was if you’re hungry, eat. Fruit, crumpets, Pom bears and sandwiches have been my go to!

stormtrooperjulian · 31/07/2019 14:16

@Bettythecat thanks for the blog suggestion! I've bought a load of different types now, should be enough to start with til we can figure out what works for us. I've bought mostly second hand too so I've managed to build up a pretty good collection without spending too much

@MrsR16 that's a good point, maybe the cot top changing area would be a better way to go than a separate changing unit

@daisiesandpeonies don't worry about the dates the midwife gave you, it'll be changed at your first scan and if you end up getting scanned too early they'll just repeat it a couple of weeks later. I was asked about my birth preferences at my booking appointment and it hasn't been mentioned again since, apparently it will be properly discussed at my 36 week appointment.

@MrsC87 aww he's just gorgeous!

@Delilah7 Ethan is getting so big now! How old is he?

@purplefig congrats on the vegetable eating!

@BabySquid I had to take my maternity notes to my scan - I was given them at my first appointment. Your trust may do online notes though?

@ELW85 Congratulations! I'm glad your scan went well, must have been a huge relief seeing the heartbeat

I'm 32+3 now and feeling huge, no idea how I can keep growing for another 8 weeks. A lot of baby's movements are uncomfortable now, and a few have been so painful I've actually gasped and grabbed my belly. Luckily that hadn't happened at work yet, the guys I work with would totally panic 😂

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 15:07

@purplefig Yeah, I think it’s inevitable for me too looking at twin bumps but like you say, it makes me feel like I’m doing something! My mum and sister never got any though, so fingers crossed...
Haha check you out!! And here’s me sat with my Dairylea dunkers!! I’ve managed some strawberries today too though!

@stormtrooperjulian Oh bless you, sorry to hear it’s painful at times - maybe baby is getting you in the ribs? Not long to go now though and it’ll all be worth it! Have you decided on your birth preferences? I hope these last few weeks fly by for you!

Delilah7 · 31/07/2019 15:18

@purplefig thank you!! yay for vegetables. Well done babe! X x

@MrsEG he is growing so fast. He's now 9lb 2oz little chunk!! Started sort of talking and the smiles are sort of getting there!! Yes we got a new car seat and it's amazing. Joie I Level! How are you?? Xx

@BabySquid thanks Hun hope you're ok x x

@BostonFern thank you lovely. You ok??? Xx

@stormtrooperjulian he is 5 weeks and 4 days 😍 going so so quickly. Honestly treasure all the moments. Even the shit ones!!! Not long for you either really. It'll fly by I promise!! Xx

purplefig · 31/07/2019 15:43

@ELW85 great advice from @MrsEG. I'd also add that if you're feeling low / extra moody / not like yourself, don't freak out. It's most likely a lovely heady concoction of hormones. I remember felt bizarrely sad for no reason around week 5 and up to 7, and I didn't understand why because a BFP was all I wanted! It got gradually better and now in the second trimester I feel pretty much back to my old self and I am now SO. FREAKING. EXCITED. It sucks, but just try and go with the flow. Oh and it's also pretty normal for symptoms to come and go, so don't freak out if you wake up one day and your boobs feel flatter / you don't feel nausea. And if you do have the latter, different things work for different people. Some like ginger, others like mint tea. I found the best thing was to keep hydrated and when in doubt eat a plain cracker / polo.

@stormtrooperjulian Ooooo that sounds uncomfortable! I'm really looking forward to hearing how you get on with reusable nappies. You've done really well to get most secondhand.

@MrsEG the good thing with stretchmarks is they do tend to fade over time and you can barely see them when they're white/silvery. I used to hate the ones on my rather, ahem, peachy bum and now I never even notice them!

@Delilah7 Thanks - I am obscenely happy with myself haha. Amazing to hear how much he's developed already!

@Fivebyfive2 thanks again for the mothercare tip - I've just booked on to our local one this Sunday. Looking forward to getting schooled on prams. Or is it pushchairs?! Let's find out... Grin

Bettythecat · 31/07/2019 16:47

@stormtrooperjulian fab- would love to hear your thoughts on the different types you've bought plus any tips and tricks when baby I here ☺️

purplefig · 31/07/2019 16:52

Last update from me for the day as well aware I have positively spammed this thread today - I got a call back for the high CO2 reading I got at my booking in appointment. Was a 5 that day (I think it's supposed to be below 3), and today I got a 1. Phew!! She said sometimes the machines can be faulty or what not, so if you do get a high reading it's definitely worth getting checked out.

MrsR16 · 31/07/2019 18:30

All went well with the scan today! Baby was being very awkward and was upside down, refusing to budge... but everything is as it should be thankfully 😊

@MrsEG no, we're having a surprise! I don't think we'd have been able to tell even if we had wanted to know today though 😂

@ELW85 congratulations!! Great to see you here

@stormtrooperjulian goodness, i hope you don't become too uncomfortable!

@purplefig great to see your CO2 levels have sorted out! Always good for a bit of relief 😊

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 19:01

@Delilah7 Ahh first smiles how lovely!! Glad you got sorted. I’m fine just fat and tired haha!

@purplefig Good news! Did they say why it was so high the first time round, just faulty? Mine was 1; I was surprised non-smokers even had to be tested for it!

@MrsR16 So glad it has all gone well today! Ah how nice you’re having a surprise. If we were just having one we’d have done the same :) You’re officially halfway now!

Just had such a massive craving for salt and vinegar Discos so I drove to my local shop (could’ve walked faster), bought some, ate them in my car and drove back home. A new pregnancy craving low (I regret nothing)
