Hey,

I thought it would be nice to set up a group for those suffering with anxiety at whatever stage of pregnancy.
I’m approaching 14 weeks and my anxiety has been up and down, particularly as I had a loss last year.
I’m currently having therapy and trying to stay active. Eating and drinking well...

Any tips/thoughts/rants welcome. xx

@Leebeemarie good luck with your scan today and @Rani06 keeping my fingers crossed for your blood test results. Will be thinking of you both.

Raindancer411 · 17/01/2020 12:16

Had my 20 week scan but found out there is only two vessels going into the umbilical cord, as a pose to the usual three. He said this sometimes can indicate heart or kidney issues but that on the scan they looked fine. It means I have to have an extra couple of growth scans as can mean a tiny baby. Bit of a worry but trying to tell myself he said that the scan of heart and kidney looked ok.

RC1985 · 17/01/2020 13:39

@Raindancer411 I’m currently having growth scans as my baby isn’t growing as big as expected. It is worrying but the only thing that reassures me is I get more scans and more monitoring which means things will be picked up quicker. It’s good they have said the heart and kidneys look ok though.

Raindancer411 · 17/01/2020 14:14

@RC1985 It's scary when this single artery umbilical (just read report) is only seen in 1% of normal pregnancies. Do you have the same or just slow growth?

RC1985 · 17/01/2020 15:45

@Raindancer411 no that hasn’t been mentioned to me but the good thing is they’ve picked up on it for you so you’ll now be closely monitored. I just meant having extra scans and appointments makes you feel a little better although I still worry.

Kate3150 · 18/01/2020 10:53

@RC1985- How are you feeling my darling?

@Raindancer411- How are you doing poppet? It’s good to hear they’re keeping a closer eye on you.

@Kate3150 had my Doppler scan today and everything is fine so hopefully the growth scan will be good on Thursday. How are you? X

Raindancer411 · 18/01/2020 12:13

@Kate3150 Having a few anxiety issues lol Worrying about surviving child birth (keep telling myself there are lots of people I n ow with lots of kids who have survived). Then now trying not to worry about any issues with the baby until the next scan. 6 weeks feels like an eternity lol

Maggie272 · 19/01/2020 12:22

@Kate3150 @RC1985 thank you for asking! I had been offline for a while x
Am doing well, 8+4 today and scans look great. Everyone being really supportive with the anxiety and depression, which I've never suffered from. They really want to keep an eye on it as it's likely to develop into post natal depression. Not really thinking about that as I just want to get through this.
How are you guys all doing? Just reading back and it's great they are keeping a close eye on you and anticipating any possible complications? Xxx

@ohdearymemumof3- How are you getting on? X

@RC1985- That’s great news! When’s your due date? You really haven’t got that long left now- so exciting!
I’m doing good thanks lovely... feel I’m pretty much recovered from c section so nice to be 100% mobile now. I went to get my hair done last week, I’ve never appreciated a hair appt so much in my life 😂 xx

RC1985 · 20/01/2020 08:52

@Kate3150 I’m due 23rd March so just over 2 months left 😬 I bet getting your hair done was heaven.

@Raindancer411 could you get a private scan in between to break up the time? I know it can feel like an eternity waiting for scans. How many weeks are you now?

@Maggie272 great to hear from you and glad you’re doing well. 8 weeks, time is flying. So glad you are being looked after.

Raindancer411 · 20/01/2020 13:03

@RC1985 May look into it. I am 23 weeks tmw so it's only another 5 weeks (not actually sure on date of scans yet as they are coming in the post)

Leebeemarie · 21/01/2020 09:53

@RC1985 sorry for the late reply and thank you for your support, there was a very active upside down baby on screen when we went and was a day further along than we thought. I'm 12 weeks today and starting to feel a little bit more confident that everything is going to be okay :) xx

toomuchteaandcake · 21/01/2020 12:39

Hi ladies hope you don't mind me joining. My anxiety (poorly self-managed prior to pregnancy) has been in overdrive the past week or so. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, have had 12 week scan, screening etc and everything's been fine. However my mind seems to now be looking for something to latch on to to freak out about, and it's finding loads! Last couple of days I've been thinking back to when I did some diy early in the pregnancy and inhaled fumes, I'm absolutely panicking that I could have harmed the baby and just don't realise. I've also thought about a time when I ate Camembert (cooked which is allowed) and had an upset stomach the next day, imagining all the things that could go wrong from that. Most people now know about my pregnancy so I get regular, how are you type questions, outwardly I'm smiling and saying oh fine, and my anxiety voice is going 'why did you tell all these people something is going to go wrong / be wrong with the baby'. It's awful Sad is anyone feeling similar?

RC1985 · 21/01/2020 13:14

@Raindancer411 that’s why I went for a private scan as I couldn’t deal with not knowing. I would have had more had I not been put under closer monitoring with more scans on the NHS.

@Leebeemarie so glad your scan went well and you’ve reached this milestone. I find it helpful to focus on milestones. After 12 week, it was to get to 16 week midwife appointment then 20 week scan. Now it’s to get to 35 weeks.

@toomuchteaandcake welcome. You are not alone in your feelings. I think everyone on this thread feels the same. I also looked into everything, got statistics etc which didn’t help but every time I reached a point in my pregnancy like the 20 week scan, I felt better. What I would say is once you start feeling your baby move, for me it gives me some reassurance that things are ok.

Raindancer411 · 21/01/2020 17:40

@RC1985 I will see how I go and if need be will look into a private scan x

I start my PRANX course end of month for 8 weeks. Hoping it will help with any anxiety pregnancy related. Apparently they teach you hypnobirthing which I had never heard of.

Jordan2008 · 21/01/2020 22:48

Hi, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and anxiety is hitting an all time peak. I've had 4 missed miscarriages the last one was in june 18 and lost them all at 6/8. Now I'm getting backache which I did with last miscarriage and its bringing it all back. Trying to keep positive by keeping myself busy but it's easier said then done like people advice us to do... it always creeps in your thoughts.

RC1985 · 22/01/2020 08:28

@Raindancer411 the hypnobirthing sounds interesting, let me know how that goes. glad you start your course soon, it will hopefully be good for you.

@Jordan2008 welcome. I am so sorry a o it your previous miscarriages 😢 I cant understand why you feel so anxious. Have they looked into why at all? The positive thing is that you’ve made it to 9 weeks so focus on that. Is there anyway you could get a private early scan?

RC1985 · 22/01/2020 08:29

@Jordan2008 sorry that should say I can understand why you feel that way not I can’t! Bloody phones!

Jordan2008 · 22/01/2020 09:49

Thank you Raindancer411, they have done all the tests for me and all was ok apart from heart shapes uterus and was always anaemic which I'm on iron for rest of my life. I have thought about an early scan but keep putting it off, as last year had early scan and it was that day that I lost it but didnt know until 12 weeks... so in a way trying to hold tight but further I get the more I think about it x

Bk356 · 22/01/2020 11:38

Hi everyone.
Just came across your group and it’s a welcome sight to see I’m not the only one feeling very very anxious. I had a miscarriage in October at around 5 weeks (first pregnancy) and even though I promised myself I wouldn’t test early again I did 🙈 my cycles been crazy since then but I’m thinking I’m around 6 weeks ish. Did anyone else feel like they just couldn’t get warm? Like they had got a chill? Is this normal?! I’m so anxious this time around but the tests I’ve taken are much darker than the last time and the clear blue test this morning said 2-3 weeks. I can’t face telling anyone (I almost didn’t tell my husband) but I’m so so scared I’ll have another miscarriage. I’ve had no bleeding this time but I’m also an obsessive toilet roll checker 😂 any advice welcome xxx

Halloweenbabyy · 22/01/2020 11:46

18 weeks today. Depression and anxiety has flared up this past two weeks

Kate3150 · 22/01/2020 17:19

@toomuchteaandcake- I was EXACTLY the same during pregnancy. My Husband painted our en suite and I had to move rooms as I was scared of inhaling fumes (even though it was dry, the smell freaked me out!)
I felt so so lonely and that’s no criticism to the people around me as I had fantastic support. Anxiety is so isolating as nobody truly knows how you feel. You can tell them you’re anxious but it’s hard for people to understand who haven’t been through it. Here to talk if you need 😚 x
