I found out last week (at two days past expected AF) that I'm pregnant - had a BFP on a First Response test. This is my third pregnancy since October last year. Works out that I'm due around the 3rd Feb 2020.

I've had two miscarriages - one in October 2018 at 12 weeks which resulted in surgery and another in February 2019, which ended at 6 weeks. I'm really quite nervous, but hopeful that this time is third time lucky. 🤞🏻🌈

Is anyone else due in Feb 2020? Are you having any symptoms?

@S082018 I also had my booking appointment today and totally agree it felt rushed. I wasn’t asked loads of things that I was expecting after reading online before the appointment.
I didn’t have to do the risk assessment you mentioned.
It felt so basic, she told me to take folic acid and not eat soft cheese etc. I was just thinking, I’m 9 weeks, isn’t it a bit late to be telling me all this? Obviously I knew it already from googling.
I had my bloods done today but the receptionist refused to book my 16 week appointment until nearer the time!

S082018 · 18/07/2019 15:22

@LizzieMoe my sister in law told me a few weeks ago that the midwives don't take you too "seriously" until after the 20 week mark so you do feel like you're just a tick box exercise until then! I kind of know what she means now :\

JellyBaby666 · 19/07/2019 07:24

As a former midwife that makes me feel very sad. Booking can be a bit of a boring appointment as it’s lots of questions and information delivery, it’s an appointment to assess risk and get as good a picture as you can of what needs to be done and put in place for a safe pregnancy going forward. Making sure you know about diet is important, you may have googled and be informed but some women may be from other countries with different advice or I met women who just hadn’t looked that stuff up, and as listeria can be really serious it wouldn’t be safe or appropriate to assume you knew that already.

LizzieMoe · 19/07/2019 10:50

@JellyBaby666 you’re right. I shouldn’t moan. I think 9 weeks just felt like such a long time before seeing any kind of medial professional. It would have been nice to have that information earlier along, however I understand why you have to wait. I’m just too impatient!

JellyBaby666 · 19/07/2019 17:57

Moan away! It’s hard, especially as early pregnancy often you’re managing alone as friends/family/work don’t know. 9 weeks feels like a long time, I’m booking in this weekend, 8+6!

ImMeantToBeWorking · 22/07/2019 13:33

@S082018 I am 10+2 today.

I FINALLY got a date for my scan (had to ring the hospital twice to chase it) It is for when I am 13+6. It is so far away!! Literally on the last day I can do it too!! Clearly I was forgotten about. I am not happy but nothing I can do.

@ImMeantToBeWorking I am 10+3 today! I was told at my booking appt last week that I should receive a letter in the post in the next two weeks with my scan date but I'm tempted to call up and chase this myself instead of waiting 🤨 do you think that's wise?

It's such a long wait isn't it and time seems to drag!!

I know this is going to sound a bit silly given that they say first time mums don't usually show until between 12-16 weeks but just this morning I have noticed that overnight isn't stomach seems to have grown and has become very rounded 😳 I am struggling to hide this and can't even blame it on feeling a little bloated and constipated because that seems to have calmed down a bit. Anybody else around 10 weeks noticed that they've already plumped up a bit? I'm slightly worried that it's not quite normal and also worried because I'm not telling my workplace for a while yet! Help!

djmbaker · 22/07/2019 14:24

I'm 10 +3 today.. had my booking appointment Friday!
Thought it would calm my nerves but it hasn't.. I'm so stressed about how well I am feeling?? Are we just told you are supposed to feel like death when in fact not everyone does? I made the mistake of googling and now I have more worries that something is wrong!
This wait for the 12 week scan is torture.. the midwife seemed really positive Friday, so really.. why am I looking for problems? 🤦🏻‍♀️

How is everyone else feeling? Anyone else feel ok??
Don't get me wrong, I'm exhausted, moody and my boobs feel like they have been punched but .. I do feel alright??

I am also bloated.. not been able to wear my skinny jeans as I can't do them up!! Hello baggy t shirts over gym pants 😱

ImMeantToBeWorking · 22/07/2019 15:53

@S082018 do what I did and say that you want to book a holiday and don't want it to clash with the scan! The worst they can say is no! It really does drag, I feel like I have known forever, and we said we are not telling any more people until after the scan, but right now that's so bloodly long away. I was hoping I would have it next week, as we have a family wedding on Friday and we said we could tell DP family at breakfast the next morning! Not going to happen now!! Sad

I defiently have a bit of a bump, it is hard and will not go away. I was shopping at the weekend for a dress for the wedding and my mam said I would have to pull it in, I can't pull it in!! Luckily I got two dresses that would both cover the bump. For work I am totally casual so i am hiding it will big hoodies, and keeping in close to the table if I am too warm and hard to take the hoodie off!!

@djmbaker I started getting some food/smell aversions over the weekend but other than that, my sore boobs are gone, I have no sickness, I am irritable and tired all the time but that's it. I literally feel like I am not pregnant!!

I bought two pairs a jeans a size up for my bloat, which then went down and I got back into my normal jeans last week, but then this weekend its more of a bump appearing!!

heather88 · 22/07/2019 16:55

Hi everyone 👋 hope you don’t mind me joining, I’ve been lurking for a few weeks but didn’t want to tempt fate by posting as I had a miscarriage in March at 12 weeks. Finally had my first scan today after a million years of waiting and worrying and saw a little splodge with a heartbeat and limbs, so it feels real now!!! They dated me 12+2 so due 1st February.

Hope you’re not feeling too awful, my constant hangover feeling seems to be lifting a bit now, just the massive sore boobs and bloated looking (but not obviously pregnant) tummy to contend with 🙄

What are you all doing for bras these days? I’ve outgrown all my wired ones but the non wired bras I’ve bought aren’t really giving me much in the way of support Confused

Heather xx

djmbaker · 22/07/2019 17:10

@heather88 oh amazing that's lovely news. Congratulations!! I bet that makes you feel relieved to see it there on the screen? 😍
I can't wait for my 12 week scan.. waiting every day for the letter in the post.
I'm 10 + 3.. not long now!
Xx

ImMeantToBeWorking · 22/07/2019 17:24

@heather88 welcome!! That is great news, sorry about your previous loss. Personally I got high impact sports bras. I too out grew my wired bras, I am a D to DD normally so I said feck it and went for sports bras all the time. The place I got mine lets you filter them by support, it is an Irish site but I am sure loads in the UK do the same.

@djmbaker give them a ring and they should give you the date and time over the phone, that's how I got mine.

S082018 · 23/07/2019 10:01

@ImMeantToBeWorking I have just phoned up about my scan and they had it booked in already just hadn't sent out the letter yet!
Mine is next Friday where I'll be exactly 12 weeks 😊 very excited and glad I called! Thanks for the tip x

Marleym28 · 23/07/2019 11:20

@S082018 I am showing. I can't hide it at al and making things challenging lol
I feel ya! Lol

S082018 · 23/07/2019 12:29

@Marleym28 I'm glad I'm not the only one!! How far along are you?

ImMeantToBeWorking · 23/07/2019 15:39

@S082018 I am delighted for you. The woman on the phone to me said I will get the letter the week before, and it is not for over 3 weeks and I already have the date.

S082018 · 23/07/2019 18:45

@ImMeantToBeWorking I must be a very impatient pregnant lady as it just so happened that I phoned up today and lo and behold I return home from work and my letter had arrived! Hubby just laughed and said it's "typical me" can never wait for anything!

heather88 · 24/07/2019 09:28

@ImMeantToBeWorking Oh awesome thanks for that, I wondered if sports bras were the way to go, I’ve got a couple of sloggi zero feel ones atm but they’re just not doing the job, I’m bouncing round all over the place and because they’re sore it’s so uncomfortable!

@djmbaker yeah it was incredible seeing that little splodge wriggling around, makes it feel so real now, I’m trying to get my head round it!!

@marleym28 @S082018 I’m showing too... wearing jeans is now challenging Confused

Marleym28 · 24/07/2019 10:01

Anyone else a bit dizzy with bad headaches? It started yesterday :(

S082018 · 24/07/2019 10:01

@heather88 jeans are the last thing I want to wear at the moment! I used to love wearing high waisted jeans so I have shoved them to the back of my wardrobe because they're an absolute no go! I've had to buy some hipster jeans and managed to find a nice pair of elasticated jeans too. It's just a struggle to hide my stomach now and annoying because I don't want to tell my workplace just yet

S082018 · 24/07/2019 10:24

Also wanted to check with those who have had their booking apt, did your midwife keep hold of your green book/maternity notes?

My scan letter says to bring this in with me to my 12 week scan but she didn't actually give it to me. I wasn't sure if the midwife gives this directly to the hospital or if I should contact her and ask her for this? What is everybody else's experience?

heather88 · 24/07/2019 11:17

My midwife gave me my notes at my booking appointment, which she told me I’d need to take to the scan and every subsequent appointment... however at the scan they didn’t ask for those notes and then gave me a whole new folder Hmm

ImMeantToBeWorking · 24/07/2019 11:51

@S082018 I am impatient all the time so I totally get it. 😂😂

@heather88 yeah nothing else was doing me when my boobs were sore. They aren't any more but still too big for my normal bras so I bought a few bigger size sports bras to keep me going.

I bought stretchy jeans in a size up from pennys (primark in the UK) for work. Most of my other jeans still seem to be OK (they were getting a bit big due to loosing weight) 😂 i am thinking leggings once I get big.

S082018 · 24/07/2019 12:36

@heather88 that's interesting...I might need to get in touch with my midwife just to double check!
