Early scan measuring 2 weeks early

Hiya. I was wondering if someone can give me some help. I had my lmp on 26th march and got my bfp on 28th April. Was anxious as soon as I found out as didn't have may pregnancy symptoms like I did when I was pregnant with my daughter. Anyway went for an early scan at what I thought was 7.5 weeks but scan showed me at 5.5 with only a sac, yolk and a possible fetal pole. She couldn't confirm. Anyway now I'm stressing out as have to wait 2 weeks to find out if this is a viable pregnancy 😥

This happened to me. My LMP was 31/01/19 I went for an early private scan at what I thought was seven weeks and they found a sac and yolk sac but no foetal pole. I was heartbroken and convinced by my dates and that my pregnancy was "not viable" as they put it. I am now 14 weeks and saw a very active wiggly baby at my recent 12 week scan. I had just ovulated much later than I thought and that's why my dates were out so it is really possible this may be the same for you. Lots of for you. I know exactly how you feel and it's a horrible time xx

Thanks hels1987. I have my fingers crossed. I just think the waiting is the worst part. I think I'm just expecting bad news because of the lack of pregnancy symptoms which is so different from being pregnant with my daughter. Glad everything has turned out well for you. In a couple of weeks time I hope I am in the same situation 🙂🙂

I'm currently going through similar, and to add to the confusion my cycle lengths have been variable since my last 2 losses. They calculate dates based on a 28 day cycle but my last one was 40 days. I've had weekly scans and there has been progression but my hcg levels are much higher than they expected from the scans. And the dates are well off. My next scan is on Thursday and as it'll be 2 weeks since my last one it should confirm if the pregnancy is viable or not. It's really stressful. I hope all goes well at your scan on Thursday moomin. It feels like the longest wait ever doesn't it. Go far along do you think you are and what are they saying you are. I guess if ur cycles are long then it could mean u have ovulated late. I am hoping I have ovulated late as my cycles varied from 30 to 35. Plus I have a retroverted uterus and I have ready that sometimes this affects the scans.

By my dates I should be 9+1.

I had a scan at what I thought was 7w. They measured it at 5w, just a sac and yolk and said come back a week later. We did, and they said it's a MMC and to contact the epu.

The epu did a scan yesterday and there is a fetal pole measuring 4.5mm, so 6+4.

We have to go back again next week to see what's happening with it.

So atm I'm 3 weeks behind what I thought, BUT my cb digitals were behind what they should have been - I did 3 to see the different weeks come up - and there are very small babies in my family so it could just be a slow grower or my dates are wrong 🤞🤞🤞

There's been a week between the scan they told us it was a MC and the one at the epu.

It can happen when your dates are spot on as well, mine were (assisted fertility) and the 6 foot teenager next to me now was just small at the time.

I didn't think there could be any doubt over my dates as I was on my second round of clomid and had a scan where they told me I'd ovulate within 24 hours.

I'm hoping the clomid made me ovulate twice, a bit later on the 2nd time or something. Or was just slow/later than they predicted.

I got 3 weeks + on the digital test and the following week the scan only showed two areas of fluid (they didn't call them sacs). Had bloods done and hcg was 27,000. I was as surprised as them. They said it could be that there had initially been 2 trying to develop. At my last scan I would have been 9+1 from LMP but scan showed around 6+2 so way out. Thankfully not long to wait till the next one.

Hi moomin11. Did they find a heartbeat at the last scan? I have my second scan on Sunday, i am really struggling with the wait. Please keep me updated. I'm hoping we both get good news 🤞🤞

Will do, you too! The wait is just the worst. I've been through this a few times unfortunately and it doesn't get any easier. No heartbeat yet but they weren't concerned at that stage. 2 weeks on there should be growth and a heartbeat so Thursday is make or break really. Keeping everything crossed for you too xx

Afraid I have been in this situation twice and it didn't turn out well for me. But, i know there are lots of people whose dates were wrong for various reasons and it works out fone.

@Cherylinaa I've had quite a bit of bleeding today so tomorrow's scan I think will just confirm what I'm already thinking. Am gutted to be going through this again, I'm so sick of it.

@Cherylinaa No, not yet, we are having another scan on Saturday which will tell us whether its still growing/there's a heartbeat. The nurse did say last week she wanted to give it two weeks so we might need to wait til the week after to see if there's a heartbeat.

The wait is awful isn't it.

I had that all last week, I went and bought maternity pads one lunchtime to keep in the car. And I had to tell them about it because I said I'll go home if it starts and I'll want a couple of days off.

Another miscarriage for me sadly and this time they think it was twins which is just heartbreaking. Wishing you both positive outcomes on your upcoming scans xx
