PREDICTIONS

BabyMadwithBump on Thu 24-May-07 14:57:52

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/08/2007 22:18

honeyapple - glad to hear you didnt do much running. i was beginning to feel a bit inadequate!!! i keep ru nning up the stairs and then getting halfway and remembering i am pg and stopping! i havent bought ANYTHING for the new baby yet apart from a couple of babygros! surprisingly, as dd is only 2.7, i need quite a lot of stuff too! managed to spend £200 in homebase on paint and blackout blinds today though!!!!.................not much use to the new baby really!

firsty - dont beat yourself up about not bfing. if it means you are happier then that has to be much better for both you and Ty. i only manage 3 weeks frist time too and it was such a relief when i stopped. i am going to try again this time though honeyapple dont worry!

fettle - nice to have you back around. i have had quite a few pains today too! (surprise surprise!!!) we were at a party earlier and i kept clutching my bump and bending forwards when the BHs 'got' me!!! glad to hear you havent bought anything for the baby yet either fettle. makes me feel better about being so disorganised! i can tthink about buying baby stuff till the house is sorted. i keep thinking if i DID do a kitkat and go into labour super early then dh would just have to go and buy a carseat the next day so we could get baby home and then we would just do a mothercare run for all the essentials! its not really a big deal is it? it would just be nice to feel a bit more organised. when are you planning on packing your hospital bag? i didnt have one packed last time and dh packed it for me whilst i was in the bath having contractions and sprucing myself up for the midwives! i think he remembered most things!

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/08/2007 22:20

oh dear! my posts seem to get more and more mistakes everytime! my hands keep cramping up tonight from painting earlier so thats my excuse this time!!

fettleandminifettle · 16/08/2007 22:53

Hospital bag - what's a hospital bag?

No Greeds, haven't even given that a first thought, let alone a second thought. Perhaps I ought to!! Might be a good idea to actually 'find' all of our belongings first in our chaos of a house!! I think we are getting there, but still not organised enough for my pregnancy hormones! DH is being great though - have I told you all that before?!

i'd also feel better if I had a community midwife organised, but they've still not rung me. Not even thought about a birth plan - do i need to write one for a 2nd birth, noone's said anything about one to me. Not been on a tour of the delivery suite of the hospital either - I've been there after my spotting a few weeks back, but DH hasn't a clue where it is, or where the emergency 'my wife's in labour' parking is!!! So Greeds, does that make you feel better and more organised!! We haven't even bought any babygros! Maybe I will just to make me feel I've bought something. Although I think we bought some new bath towels for him (DD had been sick so many times in her's, just couldn't put him through that!!!)

Once house is sorted, need to think about finishing work in a organised fashion - only got 8 working days left, with antenatal appointments, holiday and bank holidays to take into account. Then.... need to make sure DD is all organised for her new school which she starts 2 weeks on Tuesday - then I can think about having this little one. I'm kind of expecting as soon as I'm relaxing 2 weeks on Wednesday (1st day, DD is in school for a full day, that baby will realise it is safe to come out!!).

Thanks for panicking me now, Greedy, that I'm really unorganised! Almost hope that baby is still breech on Tuesday, then we can start planning for an elective cesarian and then at least I'll know when to expect it all!!

Blimey, just seen the time - must get to bed!!

take care all

Bodkin · 17/08/2007 11:30

Hi all - oooh greedy and fettle iam getting soooooo excited reading about you two discussing hospital bags etc! Cant wait for the new bundles arriving on this thread

Firsty - dont be so hard on yourself about the bf - whatever makes you and Ty happy is the best option. besides, my sis, who successfully bf her normal sized DS1 for a year only managed a few weeks with her ds2 (sim. size to Ty) so there is nowt to feel bad about - like i said, i bet he is a hungry lad and you need to concentrate on recovering from the birth lovely to get a nice long post from you - am so impressed at your ability to remember what everyone is up to and offer wise words as well! you really are a star!

Mrs - i went through a "i want to be a hermit" stage with this pg and felt lacking in confidence, which started just before 20 weeks - i came out of it again towards the end, but then was soooo knackered i didnt feel like doing anything sociable either! hope it passes for you

Honeyapple - ooooh, those are some dodgy cds! lovely to have a bit of a declutter though!

DD says she has tummy ache and is languishing on the sofa.... it must be genuine, this is the longest she's sat still for all summer hols!

MrsMcJnr · 17/08/2007 12:00

Fettle sounds like you had fun on your spree it?s funny, I did feel a great sense of satisfaction cleaning my house even if we didn?t get any viewers last night (I have a cleaner but she was off sick this week so I had to do it all rather than just the extras I usually do) my back was agony by the evening! Everything crossed that the obstetric cholestasis stays away. How do you manage to stay in your job with all the moves? Have you seen the news on pg after MC ? great news for Feedmenow and Uki but sad news from Jules poor girl.

Honeyapple ? Oh I love Galaxy yum! I feel guilty if I don?t have my 5 a day for Beanie?s sake but after that chocolate is far game. I LOVE all that old cheesy stuff you are talking about! You?d die if you saw my CD collection!

Greedy you are one laid back lady!

Bodkin thanks for your kind words.

scorpio1 · 17/08/2007 12:05

Hi

Just thought i would heck in and say im doing well. 6 weeks today.

I saw Uki's baby is called Levi - thats ds2 middle name sometimes i do wish i had named him the other way round, iyswim?

hope everyone is well.

Bodkin · 17/08/2007 12:59

That;s great news about Uki and Feedmenow - I remember both those names from TTC days - I had no idea Uki was due only a few weeks after me!

Greedy - I'm with you on the packing of hospital bag during contractions! Did it this time, but it is hard to concentrate on what you (and baby) might need when you're bent over on all fours groaning...! Good job I didn't need it though - I had forgotton to pack any clean underwear for me

nelly

DD1 has learnt to type her name on the computer

greedygreedyguzzler · 17/08/2007 16:19

well, i saw the midwife today for my 32 wk check! ( am 34 wks on sunday, but forgot about my last appt!.whoops!!!)
she now reckons my baby is going to be quite small!!! she is a different mw to the one who said i was measuring 4/5 wks ahead! i have to say i am more inclined to believe this one cos when i measure my fundal height myself i agree with her rather than the other mw! she reckons 6 lbs something, which is what my ds was. maybe i will be the first one to get my prediction right hey!!!

fettle - i am going to sit down and make a LIST of things i need to buy and do for the new baby tonight. i feel like its all whirling around in my head so once it is written down i will feel so much better! might do the same with jobs around the house although that would prob be super depressing!!!

the builders have plastered my dd and ds's new bedrooms now, so just the skirting boards and door surrounds etc. means we have been able to start painting them! my dh ( i think he is a bit of a knob sometimes) reckons we need to do 4 (yes, 4!) coats of magnolia to cover up the plaster before even starting on colours!!! i think that is a bit OTT what do you lot reckon? anyone got any experience of painting over fresh plaster??!!

mrs - sometimes i think i am chilled out and relaxed and then sometimes i have a massive flip out and get really stressed!!!
i used to feel very similar to what you described every month just before my period! though everyone disliked me and i was fat and ugly with a shit personality. i think it must be to do with the hormones! havent felt like it too much with this pg though thank goodness. hopefully it will pass for you soon.

i can hear my ds and dd talking about the 'new baby' to each other in the living room!!! so sweet!!!

iampgatlast · 17/08/2007 16:34

greedy my dp is a plasterer/builder. i have just called him and he said NO NO NO to 4 coats.

what you do is...

dilute whatever colour you choose 50/50 with water and give the plaster a miss coat (bit messy so cover your floor) then once that has dried go over it with paint.

so for example if you choose blue. dilute the blue paint with 50/50 water and paint the plaster then when thats dried just go over it with the blue paint.

hope that helps you.

sorry guys havnt had time to post today as its official moving day

will catch up tomorrow just wanted to answer greedys question.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 17/08/2007 16:42

Hi ladies!

Hope everyone is fine and well!

Sorry I haven't been on been alittle busy with 3DC still gets me (3) LOL, I've had 2 days were it's just been Connie and I which has been nice, but also trying to catch up on sleep which isn't working out. DH has gone back to work, thank god, as he doesn't like staying in so ever since DD ( DD) was born we had been out most days which has driven me mad on the inside but I've just grinned and bared it IYSWIM you cant rest and so on when your out and about (at MIL's house and so on), you feel like sh!t, tiredness, self-con about the way you look I.E. belly, bleeding and so on, aches and pains, hormonal, you cant put your feet up at some one else's house can you?!, and every one trying to nick your baby off you , so it came as a relief that DH went back to work. MW came today for that last time Connie now is 9lb 7oz bless, right little fat thing , feeding 5oz's every 3 hours, I cant believe you only get 3 visits from your MW after the birth now, with DS's I had alot move visit's but oh well! Still very teary and i dont know why I'm sure i'll get there, each day as it comes and all that .

Firsty just as you mentioned low iron I realized that I hadn't been taking my iron tabs since the birth, I'll get right on it, due to still feel dizzy and headache are driving me mad. I do feel down and bad about the BF thing but I to feel I did the best for us both and has been a very content little baby, wakes up every 3-4 hours for a feed so she sleeps about 2-3 hours between feeds, which I know is really good as DS#2 only slept an hour between feeds which were every 2-(3 if lucky) hours, even at night, right up to 7 months old no wonder I ended up with PND. She is such I good baby

Can't stop long now, as bath is running - back later

Must go, DH needs some time to himself and dD is in the bath!

Rainbowdays · 17/08/2007 20:53

Sorry just popping briefly in to say hi. Got my scan in 10 days time. Hope it will show all is fine. I am currently 6+3.

Greeedy - having just painted the new house full of fresh plaster - I can tell you what I did. Firstly used cheapo white paint diluted 50/50 as first coat, then I went over with a second coat of undiluted cheapo white paint. This gave a great base for the colour, only really needed one coat of paint after that, but most rooms got a quick second coat of the colour, but it worked with each colour. I am sure that it might have needed one less coat if we had used the colour paint from the start, but we had so much to do it was easiest for me to do cheap bulk buy white paint thoughtout to start with.... I hth!

Iampg - hope move went smoothly today.

Fettle - I hope you get to meet some local mums in your new area soon. And that the doc's finally register you!

Hi to everyone else, sorry I can't do a personal message to you all, just my preggo brain is like mush at the moment, and tiredness hitting me. I will try to catch up again soon.

honeyapple · 18/08/2007 11:37

Hi all

Me and DD have been abandoned today as boys have gone to footie... hurrah the new season has started already [hmm sarcastic].

Greedy- I saw MW other day and I am the opposite... measuring nearly 2 weeks ahead... I'm getting more and more worried that I'll not be able to get this one out. Mind you I don't think I look particularly big, baby packed pretty compactly.
Re- plaster painting- you have to wait till it is totally dry cos it sucks up the paint... hence why you should dilute it first. (However, I recently painted a plastered ceiling in bathroom- remember when I fell off the ladder- and couldnt be arsed with diluting the paint and it was fine... I know iampg- dont let your other half read that!)

Just suggested to my DD that we go to a baby shop to get some bits and she sneered and just said "BOORRRRRIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!" So looks like I wont be buying anything until they both go back to school and I have some time on my own.

rainbowdays- 10 days till your scan! Must seem like forever, I remember that feeling .

Just decided to re-decorate our bedroom... new paint I reckon. I really want to rip up the carpet cos there are lovely floorboards underneath but DP not keen. Thinks it will be cold in winter... you'd think he'd never heard of slippers... So anyway I am going to try to get DD to come with me to get some tester pots. How can that be disguised as fun?

fettleandminifettle · 18/08/2007 14:26

Honey - my DD loves going to get paint! Especially if we get paint mixed up. She then spends ages with my moisturiser at home, pretending to make paint!! But then, she's at that age, I suppose!

Anyone fancy coming to help me sort my house out?!! Getting thoroughly depressed by the state of it - I can't believe that it will ever look nice and homely. There is stuff everywhere and we have nowhere to put it all (well it seems at the moment!). DH is currently removing a revolting light fitting that hangs too low in the dining-room (which is also a walk through from sitting room to kitchen), so both DH and I keep banging our heads on it, far too hard - all these little things will make a difference, but at the moment, the weather is jut making my house look dull and messy.

Help - I blame these pregnancy hormones. Off to make a game out of making up baby's room with DD in a second - hopefully that will cheer me up, folding little babygros and things. But there's also a revolting light fitting in there, which needs to go!!!! Bought a new normal fitting, so he can have a nice baby-like light-shade - none of this glass chandelier type stuff - who ever puts that in a bedroom in the first place!!! AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Help think I need chocolate.

Also can someone remind me what I should pack in my hospital bag - Greedy has managed to make me feel really inadequate, so i'm worrying about that now too!!.

Hope you are all in a more sunny disposition than me today!

xxx

honeyapple · 18/08/2007 15:32

Ah Fettle- yes your DD is still at that age that doing anything with mummy is fun! My DD is 4.5yrs turning 14.5yrs . Well I didnt manage to go and get any paint... but we did end up buying DD her first proper school shoes! So she definitely enjoyed doing that. Clarkes have got this thing at the moment of putting toys in the heels of their school shoes... so now I have to explain to DD that she cant take the dolly in her shoe to school because she won't be able to play with it there. Very stupid marketing IMO. I can just imagine her fiddling with it during carpet time.

Bought some snacks and mini packets of cereal for camping next week... so I won't be posting for a bit. Greedy and Fettle- no babies yet ok!

Right DD wants to make jam tarts...

fettleandminifettle · 18/08/2007 16:12

Honey - can you send some jam tarts to me?!! They sound delicious!! Camping next week - hope the weather gets better for you!!

DH is now trying to explain the rules of cricket to DD - she wanted to play with her sticker book, but he's managed to persuade her that watching the cricket is better!!

Well nursery looks a lot better, will look infinitely better once the light fitting and blinds have been changed to more appropriate baby ones - I'd forgotten how ickle 0-3mth babygros are! Made up the moses basket - but still need to buy a new mattress for the cot - nearly 2 years of DD's vomit in it, I feel a new one is the way forward!!!. Put the changing mat, wipes and cotton wool box etc in place and the chair for breast-feeding - starting to feel a bit more real now!! Have to say i'm more organised now than I was at this stage with DD, as I was so terrified of everything going wrong that although we'd bought things, I wouldn't let DH put the cot up etc - hope not tempting fate this time either.

xxx

honeyapple · 18/08/2007 17:07

OUCH! Just burnt my mouth on a jam tart... can't follow my own advice to DD to wait for them to cool down . Actually they are monster jam tarts as DD rolled out the pastry and I couldnt find any cutters so used a mug instead . Taste ok though... the taste buds I have left that is...

Fettle- Are you planning to put LO straight into its own room? Or will you have the moses basket in your bedroom for a while? I have no luxury of a spare room for my boy so don't have to make any decisions about that. He will be with us until we get a bigger house... whenever that will be .

Fingers crossed the weather will improve next week. Camping in the rain sucks .

fettleandminifettle · 18/08/2007 19:22

Ooh Honey - poor mouth - hot jam!!. Still sound yummy though!! Run out of energy myself, so DH has nipped out for a curry for supper - bit naughty, but it is Saturday evening!

We are lucky as we've bought a 4 bedroom house - not in the most salubrious part of the world, hence you get more for your money (forget whereabouts you live, but I would imagine that house prices are ridiculous!). But despite that we are still planning on having little one in with us for as long as DH can manage! With DD, I think we did 3-4 weeks possibly before her snuffling got the better of him! I always took her into the nursery to breastfeed at night anyway, so he could get a good night's sleep - meant I could have the light on and read at the same time! Meant he had energy during the day when home from work to do things around the house - I could doze while he was at work. Be interesting to see how it all pans out this time having a toddler around the place!!!

Enjoy your camping? When you off? Do hope sun shines for you? Where abouts you going? Don't think there's any chance of my one arriving while you are away - he better not anyway! Got lots to sort out at work next week - so don't want to go back, but luckily my boss in on holiday now until I leave and she has said I can leave early - so think I'll take her up on that offer when I can!!

take care all

honeyapple · 18/08/2007 19:36

Hi fettle-

I live in West Kent and yup house prices are scary... mind you we moved from London cos the prices were SOOOOO ridiculous at the time it seemed cheap in comparison- but not anymore . We are looking like having to get a huge mortgage and not sure whether we can afford it as DP is more or less self employed. We had DD in our room until she was a year old .

Camping- we are going to south cost nr Littlehampton- West Wittering area for 4 nights, going on Monday. It is an annual event with my sisters and their kids and my parents and this year my aunt too! Just trying to get organised at the moment- written a long list!

X-factor just about to start.... I shall be
pretending not to watch it...

Hope the house starts to feel like a home soon .

honeyapple · 18/08/2007 19:38

Greedy- just seen on that name thread- what are you calling yours- that someone has choosed Autumn as their girls name.

fettleandminifettle · 18/08/2007 20:19

Your boys still out Honey? I'm being forced to watch England play France at rugby - I'd just got into X-factor as well. Must cancel our subscription to SkySports - only got it as it was cheaper when we joined to get it with SkySports for 3 months. Obvously that 3 months has now passed and as they expect we are still paying the extra for SkySports - i've let DH off, as he loves Cricket, but the season must be nearly over now!!

Camping on the South Coast - love it. I really love that part of England. Was thinking yesterday what a beautiful county Wiltshire is, where we live. But I do miss the sea. I was born and brought up in St Andrews on the East Coast of Scotland and just love the smell and sound of the sea!

Anyway, DH has just left the sofa, so I need to find the remote and change the channel and then hide it from him!!!

take care

Bodkin · 18/08/2007 22:06

Evenin' all. gosh this is hard trying to type and pat islas bum while she is draped over my lap (sends her off to sleep everytime) its like trying to rub your tummy and pat your head at the same time !

hope the weathers good for your camping trip honeyapple! i'm v as i just lurve camping. missed x factor (closet fan too) as we went out to watch the town carnival - it goes right past our front door - cheesy as heck, but i just adore those little tubby majorettes in their fake tans and sequins concentrating on their routines so hard - makes me well-up for some reason!

Fettle - at

back in a mo....

Bodkin · 18/08/2007 22:20

Fettle - at competitive mother! but your daughter can ride a bike! lovely name btw.

babymad - take it easy chick - and don't let people keep nicking the baby off you and waking her up! grrr, that is soooo annoying isnt it. ive started to be really firm with people on that one. plenty of time for cuddles when shes older - for now, she needs her mummy and sleep - hope you can get some of the latter soon too xx

better go, baby crying again - bum patting not working anymore!

Chooster · 19/08/2007 21:06

Grrrrr, did a whole heap of catching up and wrote a big post yesterday and didn't realise DH had accidently switched off internet connection so lost it - bugger...

Can't remember what everyone said now but I can't believe how many of you are moving house, or like Greedy basically changing the house they are in. Good on you ladies!

So pleased it sounds like you and DP are getting on better Iampg - those pesky hormones eh!? Long may it last .

Bodders - Ahhh, bum patting - thats a lovely image . Theo loves being up on your shoulder - in fact I can hear him wake up so I'd better be quick! He is not so bad with his feeding in the evening but does that frantic / fall asleep / frantic / hiccup thing from about 4am until about 7am - just in time for DS1 to wake up . Poor little soul has had a rotten cold for about 2 weeks now, lots of green worms are coming out his nose now so I'm hoping its going to pass. He'll be amazed at how easy it is to breathe when this cold goes. On the positive side though his reflux seems to be getting better. He's still sick a bit, especially today, but I think it could be more to do with his snotty nose than anything else. I haven't needed the gaviscon for a couple of days not.

Firsty - Good to hear from you! As has been said dont feel bad about BF - you tried and it just wasn't right for you and Ty. By far the most important thing is that you are both happy and more settled. The same for you babymad. Hope you are now enjoying some more time at home with Connie.

I can't believe you are finishing work soon Fettle! And how is your work shaping up Greeds?

MrsMc - I hate to hear you are feeling down about yourself - you are such a lovely caring person! Everyone PIL gets on their nerves. I can't complain at all about mine really but they still annoy me sometimes.

Hi to everyone else - Honey - I hope the weather is OK for you? Fingers crossed. By the way the amby has been a real success. Theo didn't settle well in his moses basket so spent most of the night in bed with us. Now he settles well in the amby and spends most of his night there . He still snuffles a bit when I pop him back in after a night time feed but just nods off. Its on my side of the bed so I give it a gentle rock every now and then. From my limited experience I'd definately recommend it - especially if you can get it for a good price.

So, X-factor - do you reckon that whole Loius Walsh thing was just a massive publicity stunt? I enjoyed it though on Sat night but I kept having to drown out DH's constant comments of 'this is crap' and 'who is danni minogue anyway, what has she ever done' etc....

Better go, my little man is calling... x
