Had my little girl last night (Thursday night) @21.51, 7lb 1oz. After going back to the labour suite and having my waters broken I was put on the hormone drip to speed things along and I had an epidural. So good so far.
After 6hrs they examined me and I was only dilated 3cm's! So they cranked the drip up full. Not sure how many hours later but I was asked to move position as baby's heartrate and oxygen were dipping with every contraction. When moving didnt help they called in the doctor who took blood from baby's scalp to check her oxygen levels. Examination showed I was only 5cm's dilated and blood test results were borderline and would be repeated in an hour.
An hour later blood tests had improved slightly but because I wasn't dilating they recommended an emergency c-section because normal labour would be dangerous for baby and they had to get her out quickly.
Got wheeled straight through to theatre and my epidural was topped up but I had a bloody bad reaction and was shaking uncontrollably. According to my man I was also given morphine. I have no memory of it lol. I was that exhausted and high wasnt until it was almost over that I realised they were inside me pulling baby out, I thought they were still prepping me! OMG then I fell asleep... and I was apparently snoring like a bloody steam train 😂
When I finally woke up I was still high but still in theatre. There were problems, baby got stuck and i caught sepsis so they had been working on me for 3 hours! Anyway, because of the sepsis i had to go to the high dependency unit for treatment and monitoring. I'm still here now.
Just had my last dose of antibiotics and told because they realised and treated straight away I was going to be ok. Apparently they were flushing my womb with antibiotics after pulling my baby out. So glad I fell asleep lol.
It's my 1st c-section and the pain is horrific. I'm on tramadol, paracetamol, ibuprofen and morphine. I'm glad this is my last baby!!!
@FairyDust92 it is frustrating the treatment you've received by people who's job it is to make it bloody special!! I found out you're not allowed strong pain relief at the beginning of labour as it tends to slow it or stop it progressing. But they should offer you dihydrocodein or gas and air so always worth asking a different asking. How are you anyway? Have you had your baby? My fingers are crossed for you!
@Loujonesy aww big congrats on having the 1st July baby 🥳 x
