Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

Hi everyone, can I join the chat? I'm 9+4 (due 11 Oct) with my first baby and I'm struggling with nausea and vomiting! I've just been signed off work for another 2 weeks after going to A&E at the weekend for vomiting blood Confused Fingers crossed it gets easier!

Hope everyone is well Smile

NeverHadANickname · 12/03/2019 15:22

Hi! New joiner here too. I am 10+5 so due either 1st or 3rd October (bit of a random cycle length for a few months before my BFP) I have my scan this Thursday so that's exciting and went to have blood drawn and leave a urine sample on Saturday just gone. Have suffered terribly with sickness and I'm now constantly on anti sickness medication.

I'm sorry to hear other people have had bad news, that's my worst fear at the moment so cant begin to know how you feel.

kelly14 · 12/03/2019 16:06

Got my dating scan through for 10th April! Had an early scan weekend where saw strong heartbeat of 156 bpm but still feel so anxious having to wait for 12 week scan.
Feel nauseous constantly! Thought it has gone other day but within hours was back with a vengeance!
Doesn’t help having near 1 year old to look after and just gone back to work after maternity leave!

Hello, room for another one?!
I'm 7+1, just had my first scan today, measurements are spot on and we heard a heartbeat so now I'm going to relax a little and let the shock sink in...this is a little surprise baby number 3. We have 2 DDs, eldest is nearly 7 and youngest will be 3 next month. I had a MMC in Jan last year and am 41 so was a bit nervous until the scan today.
We've decided not to tell anyone until 12 weeks this time which is killing me so decided I should join this thread and all the pregnancy chat Smile

Welcome to all the newbies!!
So does anyone else want to literally throttle their OH's? Today I thought I was either going to faint or be sick on the wag home from work, my arm and face went numb and just felt awful! When I got home (fortunately without either happening) and collapsed on the bed I just got shouted at by DP because I hadn't eaten or drank enough at work and that I'm not looking after myself properly! I am literally out the house for over 10 hours, I stand up and teach SEN kids all day and deal with the shit that comes with that and the job of teaching!! I don't need to be told how to look after myself when the staff I work with don't know I'm pregnant because he doesn't want me to tell them so eating and drinking extra is pretty hard for it not to look suspicious!!
Sorry for the rant, I just feel like I'm failing today as I feel so shit and just want to sleep so much!! It's our first baby and I'm trying my best!!

princesstinnedpeach · 12/03/2019 19:51

Aww @sal1987 that sounds awful, poor you. He's just worried about you but it is so irritating feeling like you're for public consumption all of a sudden. Hope you can get a good rest tonight x

@sal1987 All the time. But then, that's nothing out of the ordinary. Grin At the moment he's enjoying toying with me being so uncharacteristically emotional by showing me various heart warming videos from the internet.

However, 12 week scan on Friday, and I don't know who's more excited, me or him.

Emjm9 · 12/03/2019 20:52

@sal1987 you are certainly not a failure! I guess it's a new thing for both of you and he's bound to have his own anxieties about things too - but maybe he just shows them in different ways to you. I hope you feel better soon.

On a different note, is anyone else noticing weird things going on with their appetite?! I'm home alone tonight and was starving for an Indian takeaway... ordered it... it arrived... and I was full after 4 mouthfuls 🙄 so disappointing 😂

Edhardy3127 · 12/03/2019 21:55

@HarryPottersSecretSister thank you so much it’s good to know I’m not alone. I believe this is a booking appointment? Haven’t been told anything about a scan - I’ve only seen the GP so far who said congratulations; go see reception and they’ll send an application off to a midwife.

My midwifes are based inside my doctors (but this is a health centre to be fair) ... is this normal or would you normally see midwives at a hospital?

I’ve so much to learn

Frizzy1986 · 12/03/2019 22:11

@edhardy3127 I had my booking at a health centre with the community midwife team. Its standard in my area but the routine appointments moving forward will be based at my gp surgery.

@sal1987 you are no failure. It's a tough time and being a teacher is bloomin difficult. If you are feeling tired etc and need some more food intake during the day then try and sneak small snacks. It's funny what people fail to notice. I'm clearly eating more than usual and instead of crackers for lunch, have been living off noodles but work colleagues have said I've lost weight and actually Im not sure they click until the big reveal. He's probably not trying to be an arse even though he is.
Dh took some stuff out of the dryer the other day and today I asked if he'd put it away as I couldn't see it around. Nope, he'd dumped it in the spare room. I'd never have known had I not asked and it wouldve sat there for ages. He's trying in other ways though and I think we will both be glad when we are out of this fog.

@givememarmite fab news. My early scan feels like forever ago now and I just want next Friday to come so fast.

Woolly17 · 13/03/2019 07:51

@sal1987 I wonder if your DH is related to mine? He's become overly protective and is sort of on high alert. He's really lovely but it's a bit wearing on my nerves (we're older parents too... Me 41 him 48) when he's so tightly wound.

Woolly17 · 13/03/2019 07:57

Question for those of you who have already had a booking appointment or hospital scans.
Has anyone else been offered a home birth and referred on to the service despite not being keen on the concept?
I've been flagged to the homebirth team at my booking appointment yesterday. I don't want a homebirth. I know I'm not a bad candidate - speedy, natural, no painkillers last time. But I'll also be 42 when I give birth and I have all sorts of issues about giving birth in our living room (the mess! I have a toddler! I have cats - one of which will probably try to sit on my head to calm me down). Also it's giving me mild anxiety. I understand (logically) why - DD1 only took 3.5hrs and I think they're worried I'll give birth in the car park.

Rememberallball · 13/03/2019 08:32

@Woolly17, I went to see a friend of mine on the way home from holiday yesterday. She’s exactly 2 weeks behind me and expecting number 2. Last time round she had GD and went overdue so was induced and had to be a labour ward delivery whatever she wanted. She was asked at her booking in appointment last week if she wanted a home birth and got a lecture about why they were so much better than hospital deliveries - they weren’t even listening to her when she asked about how GD would affect this option and whether previous diagnosis would flat her up for future pregnancies!!

I’m the complete opposite, I want a c. section from the outset and, though I’m sure it will end up that way with twins, i reckon I’m going to have a fight on my hands to get them to agree from the outset.

Woolly17 · 13/03/2019 11:27

So now some trusts are advocates for homebirth?? Or is it just down to which midwife you see? I don't want a homebirth.

I self referred to the hospital I want to give birth at - had a good experience there last time. I used the midwife led unit but with the reassurance that there was a labour unit down the hallway. I'd like to repeat this.

womaninkent · 13/03/2019 12:08

@wolly17 you have a right to give birth where you want, all they can do is advise. Plus you can change your mind nearer the time. If they are trying to push you in to something you don’t want just remind them that the NICE guidelines give you a choice.

flowersaremyfave · 13/03/2019 12:36

Hi all just come on to give an update.

Had another scan this morning and the sac was still empty and it was collapsing, I've had brown bleeding since last Thursday so been waiting to miscarry naturally but it hasn't happened. I've opted for the op so just waiting for a phone call to tell me when that will be.

Good luck girls with the rest of your pregnancies x

Secretlifeofme · 13/03/2019 12:45

Oh @flowersaremyfave I'm so sorry to hear that, what devastating news. Take care Flowers xx

So sorry to see there have been some losses Flowers
