Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

Honestly the first weeks of pregnancy are torture. Especially if you’re struggling with sickness etc. There’s really not much you can do but wait it out. You’ll be sick of appointments in a few months time!

@WhiteVixen thanks for all that. I've looked up the early scan and like the idea of that but as you say it's best to get it done after 8 weeks so I think I will book one of those in.

I'm only 5 weeks 6 days at the moment so have time but it's just so worrying.

How about you?

GinMama1 · 17/02/2019 17:03

Jodie6 the first weeks are so tough and it's so scary not knowing what's going on inside. I had an early scan last time which helped and I'll do it again this time. Somewhere around 7 or 8 weeks. You should check BUPA but my work insurance doesn't cover anything for pregnancy really, and I think that's quite standard.

Nextchapter19 · 17/02/2019 17:53

Ive just booked a private scan. Think ill be 7w+4 and will just put my mind at rest. Its £79.00 at a private clinic in Leeds and my DP has said its a waste of money! Then said hes coming ha! Thats booked for sun 3rd March. Think Im just an anxious first timer who needs reassurance!!!!

klanger19 · 17/02/2019 18:29

Hi ladies. I've been doing ovulation tests for the past fortnight waiting for the right moment -then thought maybe I should check pregnancy test... and low and behold! First cycle- only came off pill early January.

I'm feeling a bit terrified actually. Hubby and I had a difficult time coming to the point of ttc (he would delay until I was 100!) But we've been so happy the past 6 weeks since making the decision and more 'us'. Worried this is going to set us back. I am super excited but also worried about his reaction. He's away with work at the moment. Any advice on how to tell him gently?!

CZFR · 17/02/2019 18:35

@Nextchapter19 Amazing news! I am think I will be going to an early scan too! I am from the Leeds area too, which company are you going with? My EDD is the 20th of Oct and this will be my first too xx

flowersaremyfave · 17/02/2019 18:39

Congratulations @klanger19 I would just show him the test, that way you don't have to think about what to say 😁

Nextchapter19 · 17/02/2019 18:48

@CZFR yes I live in W.Yorks. Its called windowtothewomb. Looks fine. Will hopefully put my mind at rest. My EDD is 17th Oct so we are close! X

Jodie6 · 17/02/2019 19:25

@Nextchapter19 today I have also booked an appointment with window to the womb for 9 March when I will be 8 and a half weeks.

Just want to get some reassurance that everything is okSmile

Nextchapter19 · 17/02/2019 19:29

@Jodie6 I really wanted to hold out for the nhs scan but just decided that there is no point being so anxious, might aswell just do it then can hopefully look forward to the next scan! I’m in school leadership and my mind works in terms...waiting a whole 7 weeks is nearly the whole half term until Easter holidays and that seems so far away!

Twirlywoo1 · 17/02/2019 19:34

Hi! I’m 5 weeks 3 days and due 17th Oct by lmp With baby n.o 3 & I’m 33. Our 2 boys are 8&5. We’re finally pregnant after 2 yrs of indecision! Would love to join the Facebook group. Going to catch up with the other posts now x

klanger19 · 17/02/2019 19:55

@nextchapter19 I'm also a teacher in a middle leaders position. Only found out on valentines day so pleased to have half term to process. Really hoping not to be too sick as difficult to vom without leaving a class of 30 teenagers unattended! Fingers crossed!

Random2468 · 17/02/2019 21:24

Thinking about an early scan but at 8-9 weeks (if I make it). Is it right that if I went for a scan at 6 weeks it wouldn't necessarily rule out a molar pregnancy? Guessing it would an ectopic though? And in terms of viability it's too early if there's not a heart beat to know if it's truly non viable or not?

CZFR · 17/02/2019 22:10

@Nextchapter19 Small world 😊! Aww yes we are! Got my first midwife appointment next Monday so I will see what she says then but thinking of going for one at 8weeks! I am very anxious too Xx

Nextchapter19 · 17/02/2019 22:20

@klanger19 also a middle leader here, hardest job!! I found out nearly 2 weeks ago. Not going to tell school yet though. I only started in September for a promotion having relocated for my DP’s job. Also, even though I’ve taught for 11 years in LEA’s, this school is an academy with its own rules, meaning I’m entitled to no occupational maternity pay. Annoyed doesn’t even come close x

@CZFR I am sorting a doctors appt tomorrow for in next week or so at last as had to register in a new surgery as we have just moved to a new area. Midwife appt will be exciting! X

Womblove · 17/02/2019 22:21

Hello everyone

Hope you are all well and congratulations to all the people joining.

I am 8 weeks tomorrow and seeing my homebirth midwife to book me in the following week when I am 9 weeks. It's so nice to have all your appointments at home.

I have been feeling so sick 24 hours, its like torture and got worse with each baby! I don't actually vomit but it feels like sea sickness. Awful! Sick of hearing myself moan.

I can see lots of people discussing early scans, I can imagine it must be tough if you have lost a baby and need that reassurance but please do look up on risks of scans too with early pregnancy so you can weight up the risks and benefits making an informed choice. For some people the early scans are 100% medically needed.

www.aims.org.uk/ is a great source of evidence based info.

Rememberallball · 18/02/2019 00:21

Hi @Jodie6, we used to live in Walton then Molesey and, if DH were able to drive, we would have picked St Peters if we were still living in the area but, for practicalities sakes we would have ended up at Kingston. As it is, we have moved to Cornwall, so we are going to be under Treliske in Truro!!

Trinnidad · 18/02/2019 07:52

Hi everyone, especially the newer joiners!

How is everyone? I've hit week 7 now, still minimal symptoms with no nausea (yet?!). Basically I feel tired, hungrier than usual, and just a bit fat!

I've been suffering with a virus the past week which has gone through sore tonsils, pharyngitis, cough and now horrible sinuses so I've spent all weekend slouching/sleeping. So annoying!

I know I'm lucky not to have horrible nausea but like many of you it makes me a bit worried about what's going on! I've had 2GP appointments so far so should get my blood results soon, then my first midwife appointment is on 6 March when I'll be 9 weeks.

I don't want to get an early scan because that feels like giving in to my slight concern about progress - I have no actual reason to think anything is wrong (no severe pain, no bleeding) so I should just be patient - but it is a very strange time!

klanger19 · 18/02/2019 08:52

@nextchapter19 that sucks. Still they do say there is 'never a right time'! I had been looking at assistant head posts for sept but I guess I'll take a pause now! I guess yu should never wait on one (family or career moves) as neither is a guarantee. Congratulations on two exciting life changes in the same year!

Tora4 · 18/02/2019 09:02

Hi @klanger19

Good luck in telling him, I just showed my DH the test, I did two just encase. He would have delayed like yours and we thought it would take months, took us two in the end. I would have liked to have told him in a nice way but I think I was shocked and needed the confirmation I wasn't seeing things.

As for feeling @Trinnidad, I'm going through a range of emotions! Happy, excited, worried , scared! I'm nearly at 6 weeks (tomorrow) and I just want to get to 12.... but like you don't really feel much different other than eating a little more and actually wanting breakfast! and randomly getting cold every now and then!

I did give in and told my best friend, gave her plenty of hints to get the idea, but feel much better she knows and she's been great just reassuring me, and answering everything I'm throwing at her.

Just wondering ladies when I should contact GP about my pregnancy, will I need to see the GP or can you just go straight to midwife? I know I don't need to seem anyone so soon(only around 5 weeks) but would like to know when appt is so can arrange it with work(would have to make an excuse up as wouldn't want work to know until I'm at least 12 weeks, boss always makes comments that he hopes no one is going to get pregnant Blush). X

HarryPottersSecretSister · 18/02/2019 09:37

Yorkshiremummy your boss is a dick.

Sorry I can't advise re contacting the GP (I'm not in the UK and think the process is a little different over there).
I'm going to make an appointment to see my GP at just over 7 week and she'll get me into the hospital system from there.

Huge, huge congratulations to all the new BFPs!!

Nextchapter19 · 18/02/2019 10:10

I’ve just rang the doctors who gave ne the number of the midwife. Shes fully booked for next 2 weeks at least so think Ill be at least 8 weeks when she can book me in!!! I also have felt a bit lightheaded. But so tired. Plus I look awful! Getting a haircut this week so I look more human!
