Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

@Secretlifeofme it's very light and none over night, which I hope is a good sign. Googling it sounds like it might be normal or not 🙄 going to see what happens today - there is nothing I can do to stop it if it's bad as far as I can tell. Trying to be positive it's just a bit of discharge! 🤞

Gosh it got busy over here! Congratulations everyone. I have been taken out by nausea and exhausion these past few weeks. I've finally got booking in tomorrow and I'll be somewhere between 8 and 9 weeks.

Toddler has has every bug going since I found out including ( but not limited to) chicken pox. I'm so looking forward to getting this first trimester behind us.

@sukisydney I'm really sorry to read this :(

@Tora4 I've been freezing too and remember I was also cold during the first trimester with my son. Could be low iron as this was a problem for me last time. Spatone is a nice gentle supplement that is safe for pregnant ladies. I've just started taking this to see if it helps.

Is anyone considering an early scan? This is our first baby and Im 5w+4 I think I’ll just be worrying until I get a scan date for 12weeks! I have no nausea at all, in fact, think I’ve been eating more. My nipples are like bullets however, so funny. Had to buy a crop top as bra was so agitating. But apart from that nothing else but tired. I think being pregnant for the first time is a little daunting, for me, I just want to know its all okay in there!!!

So sorry @sukisydney. Hope that you get the support you need and please remind yourself that there is nothing you could have done to prevent this or change the outcome.

Hi everyone - I’d like to join this board. I’m 5 + 2 today first baby. We’ve been trying for 5 cycles. We got pregnant on the 1st cycle but had a chemical so I’m over the moon but also petrified when reading all of the miscarriage statistics. It’s also so hard not being able to confide in anyone other than my husband about my fears.

I can not wait for the first trimester to be over - which I am so surprised to hear myself saying as I thought once I saw that BFP I’d just be happy from then on out.

Don’t know when our booking appointment is - we have been referred so I guess we’ll find out soon.

So glad to join this board with all of us in the same boat.

@Nextchapter19 I have had two previous miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy before, so I have been advised by my gynaecologist to have a scan at 6 weeks, but if you don't have any risk factors for miscarriage I'm sure you'll be fine to wait until 12 weeks. Unless you are really anxious in which case I would say go ahead and book an early scan

Hi everyone, I'm arouns 7+3 with a hugely unexpected third. My due date is the 1st October at the moment but I'm not 100% sure of dates.

I'm beginning to come to terms with it all now (I've even had a few flickers of excitement) and am just trying to get through the hideousness that is the 1st trimester. 🤢 I've been very tired and nauseous but not actually been sick so far which is a record for me.

My youngest will be 7 when this baby is born, it's going to be very strange going back to the baby days again!

I am slightly confused about something- going by the first day of AF's last visit (which started a week early and lasted 9 days) then I'm 4+4, but I just did a Clearblue test that said 2-3? Do they measure from implantation?

@sukisydney I am so sorry to hear this, it makes everything all the more scary but also sacred at the same time! 🤞 you get another BFP very soon!!

I know this is a stupid question but what do you do when you get the positive, do you ring the doctors straight away or wait a couple of weeks? I'm at the point where I just don't know what to do with myself or how to feel as I got the positive I always wanted but now so scared it will all be taken away from me!! Plus nausea isn't helping the situation!!

Hiya can I join too. Got my BFP yesterday and EDD is 20th October although I do think it may change a bit as not sure when I ovulated as conceived first month off pill. Congratulations ladies. X

Hi @AngeloMysterioso, CB digitals measure from conception date not first day of last period - so a 2-3 on a CB digit you have to add 2 weeks to get the age a midwife will calculate. Therefore, you are 4-5 weeks pregnant - which fits perfectly with your dates based on menstrual cycle.

Thanks for coming back, I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't know these things but ...

I contacted my GP however they said I needed to first contact the hospital that I wanted to deliver with and they would get me set up with a midwife who will contact me close to 8 weeks to book an appointment. I have done this however it seems like a long time to wait for a first appointment and to get some information on if I should be doing anything differently?

I've bought the pregnacare tablets labelled omega 3 which seem to have everything in them including the vitamin D and folic acid which I've been reading about but is there anything else? I don't drink or smoke so that wasn't ever an issue for me.

Also, how do you know if everything is ok inside. I've read a lot of comments where at this early stage you can loose the baby so is there any way of me knowing that it's ok? Some people are mentioning an extra scan?

I also have private healthcare with Bupa funded by work. At the moment I haven't contacted them but has anybody used them for a pregnancy, does it get you anything more? At the moment I'm going with St Peters hospital in Chertsey just because they have a separate maternity building and had good reviews.

Not sure if anyone is remotely local to me either, I live in Woking. Anybody near?

Sorry for the bundle of text but I have so many questions.

Honestly it does always feel like an age until your first appointment. Every area/GP surgery etc seems to have a different way to get you in to the system, but your first midwife appointment (also called ‘booking in’) is normally around 8-10 weeks. Then you’ll get a letter for your dating scan for when you’ll be around 12 weeks. If you want an early ‘reassurance’ scan, you can pay privately for that, there are lots of places that do them. If you just google ‘early pregnancy scan ‘area in which you live’’ then local places should come up. Some Mothercare stores have companies based in them. Around me it seems to be around £90 for an early scan, which they tend to do from 8 weeks onwards. You can’t see much of the baby before 8 weeks.

Sadly there’s not much you can do to prevent a miscarriage. If it’s going to happen then it’s going to happen. Obviously not drinking or smoking is a good start, along with limiting your caffeine intake and taking vitamins, the Pregnacare ones are fine. Most supermarket own brand ones have exactly the same levels of ingredients too. I’ve got the Boots own ones this time.

Check out the NHS pages on pregnancy. Pretty much everything you need to know about the dos and don’ts is on there. It’ll be the most up to date advice too.

Mostly, just relax. You are growing a person so you just need to take it easy. Your body knows what it’s doing. Xx
