Hello. I thought I'd start a thread for anyone that has had the good news that they are due October 2019. We can go through these looong early weeks together.

I'm 33, first pregnancy
Cycle 6
Currently cycle day 21/12 doo. First BFP at 10 dpo.

I am now testing daily to see if my BFPs are getting stronger. Also still checking temps. Anyone else feel like they have to tip toe around at this stage as everything seems so fragile?

Hello all!
Hope it's ok to join you Smile

I'm 34, EDD (based on LMP) is 30th Sept and I'm at 5+4 today.
Took CB digital test on Sunday - it said 2-3 weeks - and still don't believe it. The first one malfunctioned (I refuse to believe I POAS incorrectly...), which made the 2nd one super stressful! We only started trying in January so this is hugely surprising. Now just hoping everything goes ok. Booking appointment on 20th Feb.

Not much symptom-wise yet. Mild period-like pains for about a week, and loads of headaches. Praying for no sickness!

Topsy15 · 01/02/2019 11:39

I am actually going to join in now - finally starting to believe it! Wishing everyone all the luck in these early stages. Having had a miscarriage I can't just quite get excited yet! But things seem to be different this time, I've had a few symptoms and progressed to 2-3 weeks on a digital. Just got to decide whether to have a viability scan and if so at how many weeks! What do people think?

Love seeing the list grow!

Congratulations and welcome to all the people who have joined.

I will be 6 weeks on Monday and last week I had so many cramps I got worried but they seem to have calmed down. I just have no appetite and do not know what fancy, funny taste in mouth and gone off all hot drinks except hot water and lemon :) I am usually a tea addict!

I love this stage as you have this little secret in your belly and walk around with an inner excited smile! I have started to tell my family and close friends as can't keep it in. Although this is my 4th child and my 3rd child was born 9 years ago I feel just as excited as I did with each one Enjoy every day! xxxx

@Topsy15

I'm too thinking of early scan - but thinking 7/8 weeks?? Any earlier and I think they use the probe.

I also had mc in last pregnancy, and the EPU said I could go in for scan rather than wait for GP ref.

I only got to 7weeks last time so 8wks feels like a long way away and a little milestone!

Irony is in my first pregnancy (with my ds) i didn't know I was pregnant until I was 8 weeks!

Snootie4Bear · 01/02/2019 13:31

@MamaDane I've had a little bit of queasiness but nothing since. It's so strange how strong and varied these symptoms can be!

@Katiebaby13 I know what you mean by confirmation and confirming. I suppose antenatal classes and nurses make up for it!

@Dyra I'm the same. Only DH and I know. Won't be announcing anything until Week 13 at the earliest. Maybe as long as I can hide it before I start showing. Can't be dealing with the drama that comes with it. The cold is annoying. We've had a dusting of snow where I am in London but not a coating. House is an icebox. Thank God for onesies!!

@TillytheTiger I wish you all the best, hun. Subfertility is a long and trying road. Just thankful for every day. I had an extraordinary sense of smell too but I didn't for a minute stop and think I could be pregnant!!! My own ditziness makes me laugh sometimes! I've had a loss of appetite/change in taste too. Just can't seem to get that satisfied feeling after eating.

@Womblove Thank you for your brilliant idea to create this list! It's nice to see who is here and what their stats are. So many with an EDD of my birthday - 30 Sep! I'd love it if my baby arrived 5 days early!! I love how you put things 'walk around with an inner excited smile'. Such a beautiful description! I certainly am enjoying every single day!

Only update from me is food seems tasteless and I'm loving baked beans this week! My pee is coming out cloudy and I'm concerned it could be an infection but I've got no usual symptoms. I'm monitoring it each pee and will act on Monday if alarm bells start ringing. Googled it and it is a symptom of too much protein. Haven't looked into it deeply enough so will do so now but wondered if anyone else gets this please? 5 weeks tomorrow. Otherwise, got a serious bloat-on which I'm hiding with a big jumper and an elastic band to hold my jeans up!!!

Topsy15 · 01/02/2019 13:36

@Ambs81 sorry to hear you've also lost a baby Thanks. That's good about the EPU I was never told that! So maybe I'll ask my GP. I have had mild cramps this time, last time they were like really bad period pains about a week before I lost it so hoping this time I'm okay. If not I may just pay for peace of mind. I agree though would rather avoid the probe scan if I can.

So funny you didn't know! I think it's better not to know you have less worry and less time to wait when you do find out!

Crazy how everything is pinned on that positive test but that is only just the start eh haha x

MamaDane · 01/02/2019 13:50

I can personally recommend early scans, even though I lost the last pregnancy after we saw a heartbeat. It just makes the pregnancy more real this way. I kept thinking things like "the symptoms are not related", "maybe I was pregnant but am not any longer" and "maybe the tests are wrong somehow" which is irrational but I couldn't believe (this pregnancy or the last) that it was real.

@Snootie4Bear I've literally only had a bit of cucumber and a couple of almonds today because of this nausea. Also passed out for 2 hours on the sofa and still feel exhausted.
I did not have it this badly last pregnancy. 😭

@Womblove Wow 4th kid, congratulations! That's incredible 😍 How did your kids react or have you not told them yet?

Guys is it normal to be hot, like your head is exploding? I don't think I have a high fever but my head is just burning and heavy.

Womblove · 01/02/2019 14:10

Snootie4Bear - it wasn't my idea for the list its a mumsnet thing. I joined mumsnet in 2002 when I was pregnant with my first daughter and been on it each time with each child :) They always did the list on the the antenatal threads and I thought I would start it as agree its nice to see. When we get to baby time its interesting to see when the babies comes to their due dates which are a total guess date anyway as the majority come in the 41st week. 10% before due date 5% on the due date and 85% after...

@MamaDane - i know! 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a shock and a surprise but a beautiful one. My girls are. one nearly 16, 12 and 9! They were shocked at first but cried with happiness. I am also 40 so first at 24 and last at 40! I wonder how the experiences of both ages will differ. One thing for sure is I am much more informed then with my first and second. So I know whatever kind of birth I have it will be a positive experience. My 3rd was at home in my bed and a million miles away from my first two. My longest but I actually enjoyed it!

Hope I will with this one too!

x

My Top Tips to help you have a Positive Birth Experience

  1. Learn to understand the birth process what helps / hinders it

  2. Learn about your birth rights so you can make informed decisions

  3. Look into your choice of place of birth (if not at home) and find out what their statistics are for interventions and C-sections

  4. Find out what your place of birth’s policy and procedures are. By knowing in advance you will know certain suggestions are policy and not what is necessarily best for you.

  5. Remember it’s your birth – your choice. You should never be told to do anything only be given options. Being informed of benefits and risks and should have alternatives

  6. Latest studies show for first time mothers its safer to give birth on a Midwife Led Unit, followed by homebirth. For second or subsequent babies it’s home, then Midwife Led Unit, hospital comes third both times (The Birth Place Study / Low risk pregnancies)

  7. Preparing your body by regular, gentle exercise, eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Birth is very physical.

  8. Practice Hypnobirthing

  9. Your guess date (due date) is only an approximate date, your baby will come when they are ready and just like apples on a tree they ripen at different times. There is no such thing as a late baby only different lengths of pregnancy.

  10. Create birth plans A, B & C (C being a Women Centred C-section), you have a say no matter what kind of birth you have

  11. Choose carefully your birth partner, its important they understand all of the above.

  12. Every woman deserves to feel supported, safe, loved and listened to in labour. This is your birth so feel free to say what you feel and need!
