Yes, I'm sorry too, musky.

Please don't feel offended. Life is tough ... we're just having a larf.

Desiderata · 30/06/2007 22:18

JodieG1 · 30/06/2007 22:26

and damn those typos

missyhols · 30/06/2007 22:35

Bloody hell. Soon we'll be scolded for bloody well posting.

I'm loving the way you start a thread like this cod and then sit back after pissing everyone off. Does it ever occur to some people that mn is a place for some women (and occasional man) to get some advice. And not feel like a stupid cow that everyone takes the piss out of?

Rant over.

UCM glad they got to root of prob. Whats happening with your holiday!?

Many years ago....

Women ate what they could as there wasn't the variety there is now.

Smoked (if they were smokers obviously)

Drank

Carried heavy things

Cared for a family

Shopped,

Cooked

Cleaned
and did a whole host of things.

NOW : we can't eat this or that, can't drink, can't smoke, can't lift heavy items. can't do this, can't do that.....

hang on millions of women all over the world carry on as normal. Eat what your body is used to, and don't fuss over things. Worked for me first time round. Now expecting 2nd and am doing just the same again

Many years ago you could smoke in hosptial beds and they never thought it was a risk to your health

Many years ago the risks of a high fat diet to your health were unknown

Many years ago the risks from opiates were unknown and opiates were used on babies dummies to help with teething

Thankfully thanks to the medical profession of which I am proud to be a part of research is ongoing and we learn more about what may damage our health and that of our children.

MamaMaiasaura · 30/06/2007 22:54

and I wounder if the fact that more medical knowledge is known may bear a direct relation to the fact that the mortality rates of mothers and babies have dropped significantly.

lulumama · 30/06/2007 22:55

amen to that !!!

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 23:03

i think it is really empowering that the medical research is avail and that women are choosing to be careful in pregnancy..maybe fact that there are reduced complications form listeria/exposure to gardening toxins/etc is a direct correlation as a result of good research and medical info - i applaud that hun

old orthodoxy non research no clinical efficacy told us

okay to smoke preg
use alcohol as soother/pacifier when teething

clinical efficacy and research has contributed so much - still doesi

dassie · 30/06/2007 23:04

Awen - completely agree!

missyhols · 30/06/2007 23:05

Well bloody said.

cornsilk · 30/06/2007 23:09

I know someone who got their dh to do all the hoovering as soon as she found out she was pregnant!

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 23:10

LOL wish id thought of that and dishwashing too

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 23:12

the information to protect and inform in pregnancy is available so that is a good thin imo

chipmonkey · 30/06/2007 23:45

It is a little-known fact that cod once started a genuine baby-pasta thread.
Didn't ya cod?
Or were you only codding?
Which is a verb in Ireland BTW!

Desiderata · 01/07/2007 00:32

Yep! But we're just having a larf .. which is even better than Philadelphia for getting you through a pregnancy.

MamaMaiasaura · 01/07/2007 11:40
