Anyone due or over due who needs a thread to see them through the next couple of weeks?
I'm 39 weeks today, 3rd child.

No signs really, lots of pressure when I was walking round Tesco this morning but that's about it.

Due date 24th but I predict that I will go into labour on Boxing Day and he will come on 27th.

Gah! Feeling MOST FRUSTRATED!

Had on and off contractions most of yesterday, that felt different to BH - sort of a bearing down kind of feeling. Bounced on ball, had bath, went for a walk, all of which seemed to increase frequency but not intensity.

And now nothing is happening! Still having similar pains, but I think they must be BH or they would have turned into something?! Lying here next to DH (who is snoring, making me feel quite violent) and I JUST WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN!!

Anyone else in similar position? Truck, any joy with the drip?

FoxgloveStar · 20/12/2018 00:40

Hey @pocket. I’m up. Really strong contraction at midnight and then a couple weaker ones. Egging then on mentally. Kinda want to get up and have a shower but not until it really feels like It Is On.

PocketFullofMumbles · 20/12/2018 01:38

Hi @FoxgloveStar! Frustrating, isn’t it? I’ve come downstairs to have a half hearted bounce on the ball, but think I might just be in veeeery sloooooow labour 🙄 anything further for you?

MunderDifflin · 20/12/2018 07:13

I started having very mild sort of period pains last night...exactly the feeling you get before you start bleeding with a period. Do they mean anything or will these go on for the next 2 weeks?!

Also is anyone else feeling outstandingly grumpy? I was a complete cow to everyone yesterday. I got no sleep and like you @PocketFullofMumbles my DP got a solid 9 hours and I was so pissed off at him in the morning.

FoxgloveStar · 20/12/2018 07:40

Anything more happen overnight? I got back to sleep around 3am and ta da here we are on another morning without baby...

PocketFullofMumbles · 20/12/2018 07:44

@Munder yes, I’ve had those pains for about a week 😒 I’m beginning to think nothing means anything any more!!

Am v grumpy, made worse that my MiL is here to help us move in and is watching me with hawk eyes - every pause from me elicits a ‘ooh is that the baby?’ Not criticising her, but it’s really unhelpful 🤦‍♀️

Bitchfromhell · 20/12/2018 07:45

lol @MunderDifflin yes I was a complete cow yesterday. One of dh's much adored relatives pissed me off and I could not let it go. Poor dh. I blame hormones and hemorrhoids.
Consultant appointment today, taking bag just in case. @Lynsey19 I have Polyhydramnios too but have kept out of hospital as baby has been head down. Will see what happens but last appointment we were told they would probably leave us until week 39 unless baby is an absolute whopper. He was nearly 6lbs at 34 weeks so we'll see Confused

TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter · 20/12/2018 08:23

He finally arrived this morning at 5am.

8lb 15ozs, full head of golden hair. I'm absolutely smitten. 😍

Good luck everyone! Xx

Congratulations @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter! I hope you & baby are well.

@Bitchfromhell that’s good you have managed to stay out. I’ve gone from expecting a January baby to one possibly before Christmas 🙉. I was hoping to avoid a section but I really have a gut feeling that’s what will happen due to how much swimming about she can still do!
Good luck for your consultant appointment today!

GinGeum · 20/12/2018 08:52

Congratulations Truck! I’m very jealous! Enjoy your lovely baby.

Same here Munder - no sign of anything else yet though

Bitchfromhell · 20/12/2018 09:37

Amazing @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter congratulations
@Lynsey19 good luck today too.

LittleScottieDog · 20/12/2018 10:20

Congratulations, @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter!!

Plenty of period-type cramps the last four days, @MunderDifflin, mw said yesterday it sounds like my body is "getting ready". But didn't suggest labour was imminent Sad

Santababyclaus · 20/12/2018 10:26

Congratulations @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter!

I have my sweep in an hour - any tips??

Pippaonesock · 20/12/2018 15:31

Congratulations @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter Hope you're enjoying all those newborn snuggles!

@Santababyclaus Hope your sweep went ok and it helps moves things along! I'm due to see midwife in an hour but not sure whether to have sweep or not since I'm still early!

Santababyclaus · 20/12/2018 16:38

I'm a couple of cm dilated and have a soft cervix but it's posterior and the baby has moved out of my pelvis a little. Not had anything slightly akin to a niggle since the sweep. On the plus side the sweep didn't hurt, I another one booked in next week.

Athers666 · 20/12/2018 16:50

Nothing happening here. Seeing the midwife tomorrow, will be six days overdue. Does anybody know if I'll be offered a sweep yet?

Bitchfromhell · 20/12/2018 17:02

Nothing here either, sweeps next week (38) and week after (39).
Only 1/5 engaged today so not favourable.
Won't go over 40 though so at least that's something. However baby was healthy and happy looking and 7lb 5oz which although big at 37 weeks, not massive. Fluid levels also still very high but low for this pregnancy which is great Smile

Bitchfromhell · 20/12/2018 17:03

@Athers666 I would have thought so? Never had a normal pregnancy though so not 100%

Wanttomakemincepies · 20/12/2018 17:04

Congratulations @TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter. I have had two sweeps now, had contractions after second one that got to 1 minute apart and 1.20 long. However, was only 3 cm and cervix is still 1cm long. Now 40+10 Sad

Santababyclaus · 20/12/2018 17:06

@Athers666 I think the dates of sweeps vary by Trust and the type of pregnancy. I think mine was only fairly early because the community midwife appointments at my GP surgery are only held on a Thursday and my due date was a weds. I expect if my due date was a Friday I'd have had to wait until 40+6 for a sweep. My midwife certainly doesn't seem in a hurry to see me again, my next appointment is Thursday.

GinGeum · 20/12/2018 17:12

Bitch I thought 1/5 engaged was fully engaged (as in midwife can only feel 1/5 of baby’s head above pelvis) and 5/5 engaged was not at all?

Bitchfromhell · 20/12/2018 17:18

@GinGeum you might be right and I'm not saying it right?! It might be that I'm 1/5 palpable, it's confusing Grin
His head is in there but more of it is out iyswim

LittleScottieDog · 20/12/2018 17:19

@GinGeum - it can be either way round. I've only known 1/5 to mean slightly engaged, with 5/5 being fully engaged. Maybe it depends on the Trust you're with? According to my notes in currently 1/5 engaged, so 4/5 palpable.

Lynsey19 · 20/12/2018 18:11

So as baby is still transverse & able to move so much, my consultant has admitted me to hospital today after my appointment. I’ve been booked in for a section next Friday, so have quite a wait. Feeling a bit relieved as in the safest place now, but sad to be missing all the Christmas festivities!

FoxgloveStar · 21/12/2018 07:26

Another night and nothing!! I think the midwife who said I was 4cm 3 days ago must have exaggerated...

40+8... next sweep on Sunday.

I think it’s standard to offer sweeps after the due date although this will vary by trust.

Anyone else feeling like their baby is waiting for Christmas Day!???
