Hey guys, so 6+2 today and the nausea has started.
Felt OKish this morning and went to the gym but felt nauseous ever since and my mouth is watering loads to the point I'm having to spit it out.
Euuhhh I hate feeling sick, I know it's nothing compared to some of you and I can't really complain, but I'm the most pathetic ever when it comes to nausea. I was dreading this!!
Have any of you found much that helps?

I have a meal out with the girls this evening and the whole menu currently makes me want to gip.
Currently sat by the toilet wondering whether to eat my lunch or not.
I feel like I could be sick but I'm not quite there yet :-(

CrystalBlaze · 18/12/2018 13:30

Oh no @Crossfitgirl you poor thing. I know I'm not the best qualified on this but when I felt at my most nauseous sea sickness bands really helped. Also ginger/peppermint tea.

CrystalBlaze · 18/12/2018 13:31

Also if you can eat something do give it a go as an empty stomach makes it worse. Just go for something very plain if you're struggling - ready salted crisps meant to be good x

Crossfitgirl · 18/12/2018 13:40

@crystalblaze thanks I will have a look at those. Can you get them at a normal pharmacy? I have had my lunch and actually feel loads better now. It must be kicking in when I'm hungry... I wonder if the gym made it worse as I'm usually more hungry after? I like a peppermint tea, it's usually my go to if I've overeaten or have an upset tummy, but just now I don't think I could have stomached it!
I got some ginger biscuits yesterday in anticipation as I did start to feel iffy and salivery on and off then, so I'm gonna have one of those now and see if it helps. If so it's my new excuse to eat biscuits all the time!

I'm quite worried if I feel sick tonight my friends are gonna guess. I'm a terrible liar and they're all my close friends so will be easy for them to see straight through me! It wouldn't be the end of the world if I told them, but DH might be annoyed if it comes out as we wanted to tell family first. Ah well... I'll update you all later. We're eating quite late at 8pm so I'm going to have to have something before I go!

Also thanks for the boob pad tip, may look at those too!!

SullyWifey · 18/12/2018 13:40

Hey ladies. Just checking in. So tired and drained constantly nauseous. I'm so fed up. Want to cry all the time because I just feel pathetic.

Had my pre-booking today and they took bloods urine and weighed me etc. Got my little purple pack and feeling more real! 7 weeks today and I have already been
sick every day for two and half weeks. Spoke to midwife and she says all sounds normal I'm just unlucky I had it so early.

Literally just willing 5pm to come round every single day so I can just rest. Roll on Friday!!

Can't believe I have been desperate for this for over a year and now I'm a miserable cow.

@Crossfitgirl sorry to hear it has hit you. I'm not much help. Nothing has helped me so far. Iv tried everything! Hope you find something that works for you xx

Crossfitgirl · 18/12/2018 13:50

@sullywifey oh god that sounds awful. I should be thanking my lucky stars I have it much easier than you and @delilah7 by the sounds of it. I'm just dreading how it might progress.
When you feel like shite it's hard to focus on what it's all for. No matter how much its normal or a good sign etc, when you feel sick it's THE worst. I hope it passes soon for you. Maybe if it came sooner it'll go sooner?

What was it like to see the midwife? What's in your little purple pack? My booking appt is a week tomorrow I'll be 7+3 and I'm really looking forward to it (mainly as I'll be a week closer to the 12 week mark).

Have you got any feel good movies you can watch to mooch out and feel better? Stardust is my favourite ever feel good film :-) xx

Crossfitgirl · 18/12/2018 13:59

@mrsc87 sorry it was you that suggested the nipple pads - thank you! So glad the bleeding has stopped it must have been so worrying even despite knowing about the haematoma. You aren't far off your 12 week scan then?

DH will be doing Xmas Dinner at ours :-) He asked me to give him relevent things to read, so I've been sharing tips and developments from ovia with him. He's really taken on board their partner tips, and has already suggested I don't cook as I'm more likely to eat if I'm not feeling nauseous from the smells of cooking. He's being so protective now he knows I'm carrying his baby!

Are any of you getting DPs Xmas presents from the baby?

Crossfitgirl · 18/12/2018 14:00

Sorry. Essays!

CrystalBlaze · 18/12/2018 14:33

We love essays Grin

Yes @Crossfitgirl you can just get them from a pharmacy, I got mine from Superdrug. @Sully I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. I absolutely dreaded these weeks because I am genuinely scared of being sick, I hate it so much. The first 12 weeks really do feel like they go on for sooo long.

@Crossfitgirl - would it be the end of the world if they guessed and you swore them to secrecy? I told one of my very close friends on the quiet. And a few people guessed way before 12 weeks. If they asked me straight I just told them, didn't see the point in pretending as they'll know in a few weeks anyway.

I've been wrapping presents this morning so feeling very festive!

canonlyhopexo · 18/12/2018 15:47

I'm managing to keep fluid down but what I've eaten apart from plain buttered toast has made an appearance. Only been for one wee today and also very dry chapped lips so trying to get as much fluid in me as possible.

MrsC87 · 18/12/2018 16:47

@Delilah7 nope men aren't great at conveying things! Just keep looking towards that scan and the 12 week mark where symptoms should hopefully ease.

@Crossfitgirl my scan is 7th Jan so 3 weeks on Monday 😊 yes it was frightening at the time but thankfully all going well now! I'm out tonight with friends too, one of which knows as she is pregnant too, sworn her to secrecy! Don't know if I can stay awake long enough though 💤

Delilah7 · 18/12/2018 16:58

@canonlyhopexo defo keep an eye on it. That's dehydration right there chapped lips and peeing so much less.... talk to doctor tomorrow ASAP zz

Delilah7 · 18/12/2018 16:59

@SullyWifey I wouldn't say that's normal. Be careful you could have Hyperemesis like me. Keep an eye on it xx

Crossfitgirl · 18/12/2018 17:20

@crystalblaze it's more because we haven't told family yet and we want them to be the first to know, and won't see DHs side until Xmas day. I have no problem telling my friends tbh but it's only cos of that really.

I pretended to have a dodgy tummy on a spa day I went on literally the day after I found out I was pregnant. Worked a treat as I could say I didn't feel like drinking the prosecco, and the sauna / steam room were too hot and jacuzzi too churny and I made out it was all making me feel a bit nauseous. Nobody batted an eyelid so I may use the same excuse of dodgy tummy for not eating much tonight.

@canonlyhopexo maybe take a trip to the GP if the dehydration continues... Can't be good. Hope you start feeling better soon.

@mrsc87 have fun tonight :-)

sunshine1987 · 18/12/2018 19:36

@crossfitgirl snacking on crackers and fruit between meals is helping me. I gag at everything first thing in the morning until I’ve eaten, ok during the day as long as I’m snacking and then after dinner/dinner time I feel sick all evening until morning again 🙈 I’m just continuously eating which helps. Brushing my teeth is becoming a struggle though lol xx

sunshine1987 · 18/12/2018 19:37

And very jealous of your booking in appointments, 7+1 today and still not a peep from the midwife!

SullyWifey · 19/12/2018 11:37

@Crossfitgirl I'm hoping it will pass soon but no signs of letting up! I read that weeks 9/10 are the worst for sickness because it's when a hormone in your placenta peeks, then it just drops from there! Don't know how I will handle anything worse than is!

Was awake from 4am this morning being sick. FUN. I am also very pathetic when it comes to sickness.

So appointment was fine, don't really know what I was expecting but they just go through a whole load of paper work talk about different tests they can do for baby. Like downs etc. Talk about the scans and at what weeks they will be.

The purple pack is basically all your notes that you take to every appointment you have from now on and it's mainly for them to fill in. Iv got to go through family history and fill that in. But yeah that's it really!

How you feeling today? How was last nights meal with the girls?

Is it bed time yet? 😒 xx

Crossfitgirl · 19/12/2018 12:40

@sunshine1987 I would ring them - I'm sure they should have at the very least booked an appt with you, even if it's not for a few more weeks?
@sullywifey ahh sounds like they are very thorough, mines a week tomorrow, thought it was sooner for some reason but got mixed up with Xmas!
Ah no I hope it doesn't get any worse for you -hopefully your body will adjust soon, and it will get better rather than worse. Here's hoping!
The meal went well! Everyone was driving except for one of us so nobody batted an eyelid that I wasn't drinking, and miraculously I felt OK. I got the plainest thing on the menu lol.
I've been nauseous and salivery this morning too but again it seems to have subsided by lunch and gets better with food. It's just finding a food that I want! Currently breakfast cereal and grapes are going down well. Lol
Xx

CookieWaffle · 19/12/2018 18:18

Ahhh the nausea is so tough, I'm literally gagging at everything. Seems we've all got the same problem at the moment! I just don't know how I'm managing to keep this quiet! Also ginger tea definitely has helped!

Also when did you first hear from the midwife? I took my form in last week and am 7 weeks tomorrow so hopefully will hear something soon.

ChaosMoon · 19/12/2018 21:21

The days of broken phone and I missed you ladies!

Looks like loads has happened. I'm so sorry so many of you are feeling so awful. I had terrible nausea, with his of dry heaving, but I wasn't actually sick.

I drank loads of fresh ginger tea, which helped. Most of the bought stuff made me feel more sick because it was too sweet. I lived on cheese and crackers. I could still eat (and low blood sugar made it so much worse, so I was eating constantly) but could only stomach tiny amounts at a time so I lost loads of weight. Not sure how much of that helps anyone...

I found M&S crop tops were brilliant in the first trimester. They were a great compromise between not feeling like my boobs were being squashed and having that oh so necessary sorry!

Those scan pics are so gorgeous! We couldn't get a picture of the face at our scan. Baby constantly had its hand in the way, so it was as much as they could do to rule out a cleft palate.

There's so little god unisex stuff isn't there? ☹️ I've actually found some gorgeous stuff on Etsy though.

I love the idea of a Christmas present for DH from the baby. I can't believe I didn't think of it! I got him a book of "Dadventures" as a stocking filler, I think I'll wrap that from baby.

Sorry I haven't been tagging people. I keep losing track of who said what!

mrsof20118 · 20/12/2018 13:02

Hope you are all well ladies and the sickness isn't too bad. Been battling with hormonal rages and emotions this week very up and down and crying at songs and the state of dishes left in the sink. Who knew pregnancy hormones could have this much affect on us?! I had my flu jab this morning and have my private scan Saturday morning. Still very tired and my belly is so bloated. I have made it to the gym classes twice this week though so feeling a bit better In myself and the gin gin hard candy sweets are helping if I start to feel sick. Had works Xmas meal yesterday and had an alcohol free larger to avoid suspicion. Not a larger drinker usually but it actually tasted ok.
Got a card for OH from the bump (not that there is one just bloat) and a Christmas decoration as a gift to start a tradition of a new Christmas gift with the kids every year. Wonder whether our OH will get us cards and gifts from the unborn babies?! Xx

Crossfitgirl · 20/12/2018 15:46

I'm on day 3 of nausea and I wish it'd go away already! I'm such a wuss, honestly. At least we're all mostly in the same boat. It's not lifted at all today, I just feel basically hungover.
How do you make fresh ginger tea @chaosmoon? I don't like the teabags but willing to try it fresh. And thanks for the M&S tip, will have a look at those crop tops.

Since DH got me a bday card and pressies from the baby, I've got him a card and baby grow saying best dad in the world from the baby and a pregnancy for men book from me.

His sister very weirdly rang him this morning asking if I was pregnant as she'd had a dream that I was! How strange is that? He had to fib but we will be telling them all in person in a few days anyway 😂

I'm hoping to get to the gym tomorrow maybe in the afternoon. I just want to mong out at home though. Soooo tired!

@cookiewaffle I called the midwife after the docs, the day after I found out at 3+5. She booked my appointment over the phone for 7 and a half weeks, so luckily I didnt have to wait for a call back or anything x

ChaosMoon · 20/12/2018 16:02

Glad the gin gin sweets are helping @mrsof20118. And I love the Christmas decoration idea!

@Crossfitgirl, I thinly sliced about half an inch of fresh ginger (or double that, depending on my mood). You can just pour over hot water and leave it 5/10 minutes but you need more that way. It's better if you add the ginger and water to a saucepan and bring to the boil for 30 seconds and then let it steep. It doesn't need long but it makes a huge difference to the flavour.

That's so weird about your SIL!

CookieWaffle · 20/12/2018 16:12

Oh I might have to try the fresh ginger too. I bought some of those gin gins but not sure if they've helped much yet. Week 4 for nausea here and I keep reading that this can go on til 17 weeks :(

Another one here for the M&S crop tops but I've been wearing them for years as I'm big chested anyway. Definitely more comfortable at night.

I doubt we'll do anything from the bub just yet as it still feels really early but I've been wondering how to break it to the family at xmas. I'd have loved a scan to show them in a card but as I've not spoken to any professional yet I'm still not believing it. Maybe I'll try and call the midwife tomorrow.

RanchoRelaxo · 21/12/2018 07:50

Happy Friday everyone! Hope the sickness is easing off for everyone, feeling lucky that I don't seem to have it half as bad, just a lot of dry heaving!
When does everyone finish work for Christmas?
