Just wanted to catch up with everyone from the TTC thread. I know some of us have July due dates and others August due dates, so wanted to check in with you all!
How are you all doing?

@mrslbear when I had my 8 week scan they said a pint of water and that worked well, though be warned when they push down on your bladder you feel like you’re going to wee yourself lol 😂 don’t think you need anymore than that to drink xx

Crossfitgirl · 20/01/2019 20:03

@cookiewaffle amen to that.
Fuck the first trimester 👎

I made it to the christening and did my godparent duties with a stash of rich tea biscuits in my bag lol.
14 hours of sleep must have done the trick, I felt OK this morning and my headache has finally eased a bit. Whatever my body or the placenta was doing, it must have needed me to lay down for a weekend to do it!!

@sunshine1987 and others that have had scans, how fast did you drink the pint of water? It says to have a pint an hour before. Did you down it all quickly, or sip it over the course of the hour, or sip it over half an hour... Did you pee before you started drinking?
I'm so worried I'm going to be bursting at my scan and be awfully uncomfortable. I thought I'd pee an hour before the scan then start drinking and just sip it over the hour.

I'm one of these people that needs a psychological wee before any toilet restricting activity including the cinema, getting on a plane, a long car trip etc lol.

canonlyhopexo · 20/01/2019 20:37

I'm 11 weeks on Tuesday. Still no scan date! So can't advise what we're told here in the south east re bladders. @Crossfitgirl that made me lol I am also a psychological wee-needer. Glad you managed the christening x

MrsEG · 20/01/2019 20:44

@sunshine1987 @mrsLbear thank you ladies. I feel okay; felt dreadful last week and saw my GP in the end after 5 back to back nights of basically insomnia and he was really helpful. Now I’m just planning on getting through the next few days the best I can. At this point, I just want to know! It’s so hard not to worry, but I’m doing my very best to stay positive!

sunshine1987 · 20/01/2019 20:51

@canonlyhopexo I’m a south easter/south coaster here too!

@crossfitgirl it takes 20 minutes apparently to reach your bladder the woman at the scan said (i has forgotten the pint rule until half an hour before and downed it) to reach your bladder so as long as you drink it by then you’ll be alright. I did wee before, it’s more the psychological of not being allowed to wee, which means you’ll need it two seconds later 😂

@mrseg definetely stay positive, not long now, the unknown must be so hard xx

RanchoRelaxo · 20/01/2019 21:36

@Crossfitgirl I forgot and necked a load of water as I was on my way, but the wait was half an hour so by the time I was seen I was literally bursting and so uncomfortable, the sonographer was lovely though and asked me to just lie down, she quickly found the baby and said it looks the right size, I can see a heartbeat, go have a wee and we will continue after 😂 you could actually see how squashed the baby was as well with a full bladder, afterwards it was moving around loads I think it was relieved to have some room back 😂

zoomies1 · 20/01/2019 22:16

Hi All, can I join? I’m a long term lurker so recognise a few of you from the TTC boards. I got my BFP yesterday. Think I’m 5/6 weeks but not really clear on the whole dating thing yet....going to do another test in a day or two just to make sure but same as many of you have serious tummy bulge and really sore boobs. Very unusual for me. Went for a run yesterday and felt like I had two of those really heavy cricket balls attached to me Hmm.

Anyway, not planning to tell anyone for a while so it would be nice to have some people to chat to xx

GemmaJen · 21/01/2019 06:01

Welcome @zoomies1 I'm similar at 5w5d - use the first day of your last period to get your dates, it'll all change at the 12w scan when they measure to determine due date, but it'll give you an idea of where you are.

I'm still in the no symptoms camp, not a sore boobs or nowt, lol.

Everyone have a good weekend?

MrsLBear · 21/01/2019 06:57

@Crossfitgirl oh phew for managing the christening!!! I think you need time for the water to actually pass through and sit in your bladder. I remember by pcos scan I didn't read the letter properly so on my way there I stopped at Tesco grabbed water and guessed how much of a huge bottle I had to drink forgetting I'd had a coffee or two as well. I was busting. It was soooo uncomfortable cos they press down so so hard I genuinely thought I am going to pee on your floor in a minute.

@canonlyhopexo oh no hopefully you get your date soon!! Have you chased them up!?

That sounds like a dream scan @RanchoRelaxo hopefully we all get a nice one like that!!

I feel horrendous atm. Like motion sick minus the sickness. I also have constant tummy cramps and I'm the opposite of some of you. I'm going toilet more than ever and if I don't go when I need to I'm in a world of pain. Doesn't help that my one tonsil is infected which isn't helping with feeling nauseas. I'm still able to eat though thank god but just don't want anything too exotic or spicy or flavoursome. The more plain the better!!!

MrsLBear · 21/01/2019 06:59

Welcome @zoomies1!!! I second @GemmaJen. If you go on the nhs website there's a calculator you can use by putting in the day of your last period and then roughly the length of your cycles.

canonlyhopexo · 21/01/2019 07:06

@MrsLBear I spoke to the midwife at 9+2 after booking in at only 5+2 and she said I hadn't been put in the system yet so a letter wouldn't have been generated for the scan. I got my maternity excemption certificate on Saturday so I'm guessing I'm in there now so hopefully it will come today or tomorrow (I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow!) my sister recently had kids and she said she remembers the letter arriving with not much notice as to when the scan was and another friend told me as long as it's done before 13+6 they should be able to do the various tests for downs etc. Already feels like I've been pregnant for 6000 years lol. And really suffering with hyperemisis. Those with no symptoms - relish in it hahaha it's awful x

CookieWaffle · 21/01/2019 07:54

Welcome @zoomies1! I have this bookmarked to remind me how many days/weeks I am www.firstresponse.com/en/Online-Tools/How-Far-Along-Am-I

South East here, my letter says: please drink at least 1 pint of water 1 hour before your appointment. It is important to have a full bladder for the scan to be successful.

I have to do it every time I get blood tests as they struggle to find my veins so I'm used to drinking a pint of water!

CookieWaffle · 21/01/2019 07:55

Oh I used my maternity exemption card for the first time at the chemists the other day. I felt like such a rebel leaving without paying!

FivexFive · 21/01/2019 11:19

Hi all! Ok so called my gp, no need to go there but they have updated my notes.

I had to call 'sure start' they said no need to get it confirmed etc. I said I was about 5 weeks, give or take. They've booked me in with a mid wife for the initial booking apt, said it will be about an hour. Because of how they fill up, they've booked me in for 4th feb. Apparently that's either bang on or a bit too early, but the next available apt wasn't for another 2 weeks after!! So will just go and see...

We're just wondering about telling people? Maybe just immediate family now, then everyone else after the 12 week scan? What's your opinions on this? I'm playing it by ear with work, depends on if I get any symptoms to make it dead obvious I think?! Xxx

CookieWaffle · 21/01/2019 11:55

Hey @FivexFive, I had my booking in appt at 8 weeks so that sounds about right. They don't confirm the pregnancy, I've still had nothing confirmed and I have my 12 week scan on Friday! I told my family at 8 weeks just because it was Xmas and they'd all be there. I mightve told mum a bit earlier if it hadn't been. I just can't wait to get this secret off my chest, even though there's risks. I'm telling close friends in a couple weeks, then I'll reveal to the rest. Will tell my boss after the scan (as I still don't believe it!).

MrsC87 · 21/01/2019 12:56

I told people at work at 6 weeks as I couldn't hide it with being sick and having time off. I also bled at 9 weeks so it was nice to have their support at that time. It depends on your work situation, I've been with my company for 10 years and my colleagues are also my friends. I don't think I would have told work otherwise.
To this day I've not made a big social media announcement, I've just told people as and when @FivexFive xx

MrsC87 · 21/01/2019 12:59

Also @Crossfitgirl I forgot about drinking water before scan as it was first thing in morning and baby could be seen straight away. The womb rises by 12 weeks so should be fine.

So now I feel back to myself and don't feel pregnant, can't win lol. Does the worry ever go away? xx

canonlyhopexo · 21/01/2019 13:13

Hey lovely @FivexFive congrats! I've been at my workplace for 4 years and they've become friends too and really been there for me through very hard times and they were aware we wanted to have a baby so I told them the same day I found out! But I would have had to tell them anyway as I've been signed off with severe sickness etc. We told our immediate families pretty much straight away too. Haven't told any friends really and won't be doing social media x

Delilah7 · 21/01/2019 15:27

I'm so sorry I'm not very involved in this thread anymore 😔 this pregnancy has changed me so much.
I'm on the tough meds and I'm exhausted all the time. I'm only 15 weeks 3 days, yet I just don't even wanna work anymore, and that's because of how I feel. I'm so tired and I have ridiculous migraines. Stuck in a rut. If I change my hours my pay and obviously maternity pay changes yet I'm just so fed up. OH doesn't completely understand now I'm not throwing up every day! I just needed to vent I'm sorry guys. X

FivexFive · 21/01/2019 16:46

@delilah7, hope you start to feel better soon hun xx What kind of work is it, if you don't mind my asking?

@cookiewaffle, oh I'm already weirdly paranoid about going to the scan and being told there's nothing there and that I'm around the twist!! I keep looking at the pictures of my tests and am relieved every time I go the loo and nothing sinister is there!! Especially as so far I've got got many symptoms (I know that means I'm lucky though!)

We're going to tell our parents and my brother and sis in law. My one boss knows and so does dhs boss. I'll leave everyone else until my scan if possible. And I'm you all, no social media!! Xx

Delilah7 · 21/01/2019 16:56

@FivexFive something pretty simple in the sense of sitting in front a computer. However I have a 45 min commute twice a day and go work 7:30/4. Xx

Crossfitgirl · 21/01/2019 17:32

@delilah7 no matter how simple the job is physically, it's still knackering mentally, I've found some meeting days far worse than days when I've been physically with patients all day. When you feel like shit it's so much harder to concentrate and it wipes you out. Totally feel for you.
Are you back at work now or still off sick? If you get sick pay, maybe just stay signed off until you feel well enough to do your full hours?
@fivexfive that worry never goes away. I'm 11+1 and my scan is next week, I'm still terrified im going to be told there's no baby, or it's stopped growing, or I've MMCd. And that's even with symptoms! I wouldn't expect much before 6 weeks, but symptoms will come after that... Unless you're VERY lucky!! Also we told family at 7 weeks (as it was Xmas, otherwise would have prob said before) and I told a few work colleagues before that as I felt shit at work and needed the support. We've told close friends up to now, just when we've seen them, then will spread it to our wider circle after the 12 week scan. Its up to you who you tell and when. I've found it helpful to tell people especially as it's a new, scary, uncomfortable and nauseous time! If something does go wrong, I'd want support anyway. Someone I know didn't tell until after the 20 week scan. It's totally different for everyone. Xx

Crossfitgirl · 21/01/2019 17:40

Also thanks for the water / scan advice @mrsc87 @sunshine1987 @ranchorelaxo @mrsLbear
I've had a PCOS scan before and I remember having to wait ages past the appt time... my bladder was so full, I could hardly hold it in, I was super uncomfortable and they had to ask me to let some out as it had backed up to my kidneys I'd held it so long! I think it's what made me a psychological wee needer @canonlyhopexo 😂

canonlyhopexo · 21/01/2019 17:45

@Delilah7 totally feel for you. Do similar work with slightly longer commute and also suffering with hyperemisis. I've been off since 13th December. I'm struggling to do basic jobs just around the house - I shower, tidy the kitchen and put rubbish out and that's it. Don't do any cleaning etc my DP is having to massively help me out.
@Crossfitgirl I finally got my scan date and the letter says for me attend with a full bladder so I'll try go with 75% and just drink while I wait as I'm sure it will run over the appointment time. I'll just think of dry things 😂😂😂

Delilah7 · 21/01/2019 17:45

@Crossfitgirl I'm struggling especially with OH not understand and saying power through and grow up. 😔 he just doesn't get it atm. He used to but doesn't now I'm not physically being sick atm. I'm back at work now. I do get sick pay but don't wanna take the piss tbh xx
