@MrsLBear by lmp it's 1st August but suspect they are measuring me a few days ahead now.
My oh didn't come to the booking appointment. They had given me a form to complete so just got his details and would have been a waste of time for him. However I'm useless at remembering what questions to ask so may have been good to have him there for that reason.

EltzBee · 15/01/2019 10:53

@mrsof20118 I read lmp and though 'imp' to begin with, d'oh! That's handy they gave you a form to fill in before the appointment. It sounds like some of you ladies have well organised midwife teams near you!

I was doing the dreaded googling and it sounds like it's quite normal for the due date they calculate from the last period to change when they do a scan. I guess it depends when in the cycle you actually ovulated and then when it implanted?

SullyWifey · 15/01/2019 13:01

Hey ladies, I have been very quiet lately as been focusing on house hunting and getting back into the swing of work! But I have been keeping up with the thread here and there!

I am 11 weeks today and my scan is next friday, so 25th. Beyond excited and it cant come soon enough. Im showing a little tiny bit i think, but does just look like iv eaten big dinner! But was still quite an exciting/scary thing when I noticed walking naked past the mirror on sunday morning haha. Will put a pic in later and see what you think! I was bloated for weeks like @crossfitgirl then that died down when the sickness and fatigue went (THANK GOD!)

@eltzbee the tiredness and nausea getting through work is horrible, I honestly feel like I was permanently hungover for about 5 weeks straight, its all a blurr. I hardly remember Christmas! but alas the last week or so I have felt like a new women and I am looking forward to actually enjoying this pregnancy now! So hang on in there, better times are coming :)

On booking appointments, mine was done in 2 half's and DH didn't come to either, it wasn't necessary, but he will come to the 16 week one, just to say hello and be involved, then all the scans of course!

With creams, I have been using the stretch mark palmers one, which from research is a Mumsnet Favourite apparently! I am so easily prone to stretch marks so expecting tones of them!

xoxoxo

CookieWaffle · 15/01/2019 14:47

Ahh @SullyWifey our scans are on the same day :) glad you're feeling better!

I'm less nauseous now but I feel so ill, like I'm coming down with something. Starting to get a bit worried as I don't feel tired I just feel unwell. Just hoping everything is OK.

Delilah7 · 15/01/2019 15:19

Sooooo like to apologise for how non existent I've been. Just been trying to focus on getting better now I've been hospital & on these pills. I'm 15 weeks Friday and starting to get crampy & back aches!!

SullyWifey · 15/01/2019 15:52

@CookieWaffle oh how exciting! Mine is at midday so will update after. I know what you mean I felt the same because all my symptoms seem to switch over night. It was so strange. Hoping we are some of the lucky ones and everything is fine 🤞🏻 xx

CookieWaffle · 15/01/2019 16:12

@SullyWifey ooh mines at 11.45! We could be twins :) Yep think positively, gotta keep remembering that having symptoms is not a bad thing at least!

@Delilah7 no worries, at least you're feeling better xx

Crossfitgirl · 15/01/2019 17:59

@eltzbee if I hadn't happened to have had 2 weeks off just when my sickness started, I would have honestly just rung in work sick. Now I make sure I have a very large selection of snacks available, I force myself to drink, and I plan nothing on evenings so I can rest. Crackers and rich tea biscuits are my godsend but I find I go off stuff very quickly now, so always need a selection.
Also my DH came to the booking appt. It was good for the family history and basically so he's feeling a part of it all and could ask questions. I liked having him there but prob not totally essential.

@mrsLbear my eczema has also flared, I saw my GP and she said steroid creams (I have mometasone furoate) are OK to use very sparingly but only after 12 weeks. I've been trying not to get too hot. I did use a tiny bit of OTC hydrocortisone on my face one time as it was stinging and I couldn't bear it. GP said evidence wise there's a very small link between use of steroids in the 1st 12 weeks and a cleft lip, but she said after 12 weeks that risk disappears as the baby is fully formed at that point. Hope that helps? I asked for a moisturiser on prescription for now to slather my hands with but have just had to put up with the itchiness for now.

DH got me some bio oil which I've been using on my boobs, gonna use it on my tummy when I start growing. It smells nice!

@mrsof20118 that's shit, have you found a proper number? Hope the harmony results kcnr back OK, as I'm sure they will :-)

@sullywifey @cookiewaffle mines 3 days after yours on the 28th! So exciting! Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Welcome back @delilah7 hope you're doing OK!

@mrsEG I also am thinking of you and hope you are doing ok, don't feel like you have to respond but just wanted to send you some love 💐💐💐

MrsEG · 15/01/2019 18:46

@Crossfitgirl Oh Thank you lovely that’s so kind of you. I’m feeling okay but just wishing the next week away so I can just have my next scan and know for sure if it’s good news or bad. It’s sent my anxiety in to absolute overdrive though, but my doctor and boss have been wonderful with me, I’m actually off work all week at my bosses insistence as (in her words) ‘I’ve enough on my plate’! So just spending my days walking the dog and seeing family to while the days away.

So pleased to see everyone is doing well! Xx

mrsof20118 · 15/01/2019 18:50

@Crossfitgirl the number was working last week as called about spotting. Tried leaving a VM on the first number I called to see if they can change my area there or if they know of a new number x

CrystalBlaze · 15/01/2019 19:57

Glad you're bearing up @MrsEG. Sending love too xxx

MrsLBear · 15/01/2019 21:20

@mrsof20118 that's what I'm thinking! He can listen for me as my brain isn't functioning very well atm.
I've got a form to fill out too actually! I haven't actually read it yet though.
I'm really bloated at the moment and I feel like I can't suck my tummy in like I used to!

@Crossfitgirl doh I didn't know that. Mine is very weak actually and I've used it a tiny bit as I mainly get it around my eyes so always use it extremely sparingly. I didn't know about the cleft lip thing at all! Ffs another thing I've done! It's only cos my eyes got so so sore and I googled it and it said it was safe to use but now I've looked into it further it says that about cleft lip.

Crossfitgirl · 15/01/2019 21:31

@mrsLbear the doc told me there's only animal studies on this, nothing in humans - so just another one of those "just in case" scenarios based on sketchy evidence in other mammals. And I've used the hydrocortisone too, so you're not the only one. for the tiny patches on your face I'm sure there won't be any harm. She even went on to say that they do treat other problems with steroids in pregnancy if they need to so it can't be massively harmful. Also, if your face is itching it's bloody awful, I'd actually rather take the risk on occasion to prevent a full on huge flare up.

Just think, so many women don't find out they are pregnant for ages. They drink, do drugs etc and keep eating all the stuff that we are now told to avoid... Babies are even born addicted to heroin these days and can be weaned off and be happy healthy beings. In the grand scheme of things these are only very tiny things with only a small and questionable risk with very little evidence to say so in the first place.

The best thing you can do is forget about anything you've done and just act on what you know now. That is the absolute best you can do 😘 don't worry!

CookieWaffle · 15/01/2019 22:37

Lots of ❤️ to you @MrsEG, makes all the difference having a supportive doc and boss xx

@Crossfitgirl my friends all swear by bio oil. I'll have to get some. You do make me laugh tho, I saw your post about shaving. I'm so glad you're here to ask the important questions we're afraid to ask! Was very helpful!

GemmaJen · 16/01/2019 05:26

I'm booked in with the midwife for next week, finally got to 5w today, time seems to be going so slowly! Having mild panic over some brown spotting yesterday, not sure whether to call the midwife line or not? Still minimal symptoms, though I've gained so much weight! Also struggling to write coherent sentences, maybe that is a symptom in itself? 😆

ChaosMoon · 16/01/2019 06:13

Sorry for disappearing on you all ladies. The last few days have been crazily busy and left me with a permanent headache. As I've given up on sleep for the night though, I thought I'd catch up.

@crossfitgirl @CrystalBlaze @sunshine1987 the hypnobirthing seemed really good. It was a concentrated 4 hour course thoughz so we covered a lot in a little bit of detail and now it's down to us to read up on the detail and practice. Only time will tell how well we do!

How are you doing without DH now @EltzBee?

DH came to my cooking appointment. Yes, it was mostly questions for me, but my midwife went through so much info so fast, it was really helpful to double check what he'd heard after. He's going to come to my midwife appointments going forward too, though not the GP ones, as he always has so many questions.

Good luck at your scan today @mrsof20118. It's so fabulous seeing them isn't it?

And no my brain is fried again so sorry for missing people. Heading to Lanzarote on Friday,v which hopefully will reset me. I cannot wait!

MrsLBear · 16/01/2019 07:27

@Crossfitgirl oh I see cos when I looked into it first the nhs website said was safe and didn't mention cleft lip or anything only when I googled it with the word cleft lip did some pages come up. That's what I keep telling myself and I remember people telling me before that it's so stressful what you can or can't do and now I get it. I don't smoke and I really didn't drink much before and when we conceived. I had like 5 glasses of wine in between conceiving and finding out (2 weeks) and I eat relatively well. My brother in laws ex smoked and drank during her pregnancy with our niece and she's a happy and healthy toddler. Just so much that sends you into frenzy out there and then I think oh god what if somethings wrong I won't ever forgive myself.
My mum actually took some slimming tablets when she was pregnant with my brother as she didn't know and you can imagine what would have been in those things 30 years ago. All he had was his ear wasn't formed properly or was folded down which he had done as a baby and now no one even knows it. So that's what I keep telling myself.
Thank you for your kind and wise words 😘😘 made me feel tonnes better!

Good to hear from you @MrsEG hoping the next week speeds by for you!! ❤️

@Crossfitgirl
What was the post about shaving? I missed that!

@GemmaJen oh that's me too. My brain is like jelly I come out with the weirdest crap atm. And I can't explain to anyone why that is (at work anyway). That's good you got your booking appt nice and early!! Mines next week too but I'm 6 weeks today. Don't worry about the spotting as it's meant to be completely normal however always nice to get some reassuring words from the professionals.

sunshine1987 · 16/01/2019 14:46

@stormtrooperjulian when you’re ready 💜

canonlyhopexo · 16/01/2019 15:30

Hi everyone!
Have been pretty absent as I've just felt so rough but just had a good read through the thread. Sorry to see some of you are having a really worrying time Thanks I hope things work out well for everyone. It's exciting some of you have had/are very close to your scan dates. I'm 10+1 and eagerly awaiting the letter in the post as haven't had mine yet. My midwife isn't the best! My OH came to my booking appointment with me and he wants to come to all future appointments too bless him but I'm not sure it will be necessary for EVERY app.
Hope you're all having a good week so far 💛

mrsof20118 · 16/01/2019 17:21

Scan all good today. Edd now 31st July. Baby was playing ball as was all curled up so had to jump about a bit to wake he or she up. Neck measurement seemed ok though she measured 1.4 twice which I believe is low risk. Hope you are all good.

Crossfitgirl · 16/01/2019 18:41

Haha @cookiewaffle gotta ask these things!! @mrsLbear I posted a thread about how you keep your lady bits trim once you're too pregnant to see. I needed to know!! 😂 FYI blind shaving was the consensus! Glad you feel a bit better. I honestly can't be arsed worrying any more. I didn't take my vitamins /folic acid yesterday as I went to bed and forgot, briefly worried this morning but thought ffs it's one tablet!
@mrsof20118 glad the scan went well and all good!
@gemmajen speak to your doc or midwife, it's normal but I was told to contact them with any spotting, just to be on the safe side. I had a bit of rusty spotting but it was 1 or 2 wipes and disappeared so they werent worried and I've not had any since.

@chaosmoon I have found a book on hypno birthing so gonna have a mooch at that, good luck with the practice - the mind is so powerful its got to help!

@stormtrooperjulian congratulations, I keep having a quick mooch on the other thread just to see any new BFPs - hope you're doing OK!

mrsof20118 · 16/01/2019 19:38

@Crossfitgirl I read that as hypno bitching!

MrsLBear · 16/01/2019 20:54

@Crossfitgirl I see!!! I have waxing, so very very rarely go at my mini with a razor. I heard before that midwives don't like you to be bald or shaven, how true this is I dunno. I cannot fathom how they would want to be staring at a hairy growler (sorry if I offend anyone but no other way to put it haha).

I've got an absolute splitting headache tonight and my glands under my arms have been up today too. Really not ideal. Just took one paracetamol cos I cannot take it anymore. How are you all with taking painkillers during pregnancy? Do you avoid? I've been avoiding it completely but at the end of my tether right now.

Hopefully you get your letter soon @canonlyhopexo Have you chased your midwife? I'd be on her case!

For those who've had their booking appt. How many vials of blood did you have taken?

Crossfitgirl · 16/01/2019 20:59

@mrsof20118 haha hypno bitching!! Interesting 😂
@mrsLbear I've had a few headaches, usually I'd pop a paracetamol at first niggle but I've tried to be less pathetic and hold off. To be honest though they've not been bad enough for me to take one, and the one bad one I had, I knew paracetamol wouldn't work anyway as I was just tired and dehydrated. I went to bed instead.
I would happily take them if I really needed it though as they're safe in pregnancy. Thank god!

2 vials at my booking appt, but both through one needle so didn't actually realise till she'd filled 2!

canonlyhopexo · 16/01/2019 21:21

@MrsLBear I'm going to give it to end of week and if it's not come through I'll chase her. This is the same midwife that also let me be continuously sick for 4 weeks before she recommended anything to me so I'm not holding out too much hope for her tbh! Re the hairy growler...I'm hoping my DP will do anything for love 😂😂😂
