Just wanted to catch up with everyone from the TTC thread. I know some of us have July due dates and others August due dates, so wanted to check in with you all!
How are you all doing?

@CrystalBlaze I plan on going but think they are may time for end of July/August births. Got to decide where thought as will probably be moving twice before the birth.

Crossfitgirl · 05/01/2019 10:05

@mrsEG haha god yeah cleaning up would be awful! Hospital or birth centre all the way for me! @chaosmoon I like the idea of a water birth but I don't like the idea of sitting in the water with possible poo and the insides of my womb floating around me once I've popped it out 😂 though I bet it's so relaxing. I may change my mind.

@crystalblaze the nausea is easing, it's more food aversion that's making me feel sick and the tiredness that's getting to me at the mo. How are you feeling?

I've booked onto some NCT classes, early as it is I really wanted to go and know they book up fast. They seem quite close to my due date though, well I'm due 11th August and they are from end June to mid July. So help with decision making about where to birth etc may be a bit late? I don't know when you have to decide that stuff?

Even though they are on evenings, DH has taken 4 half days to come with me to make sure he's not working away! I've heard they are really good. Did you get the membership? We paid for that too but actually not even too sure what we get out of it lol!

ChaosMoon · 05/01/2019 10:23

I'm resolutely ignoring that image @Crossfitgirl! 😂

Your DH sounds gorgeous. I was asked to choose where I wanted to have the baby at my booking appointment at 10 weeks. Luckily, I'd already looked into that. I'm sure you could change your mind later, but I'd start researching it sooner rather than later.

Bettyhop · 05/01/2019 10:38

Here's our little baby. All looking perfect at the 20/40 scan😍 here's a photo of them with a little hand next to the nose. We decided to stay team yellow (but the temptation to find out was huge!)

Bettyhop · 05/01/2019 10:40

Oh no photo won't attach!🙈 x

Crossfitgirl · 05/01/2019 10:47

Haha I'm so sorry @chaosmoon! Just ignore me 😛
I think I'm gonna go for the midwife led birth centre tbh, it's attached to the hospital but has loads more facilities than the labour ward. Only thing I need to consider is whether I'd want to be moved if I decided to go for an epidural. Def need to read more about birth. Nearer the time though haha.

@bettyhop so glad your scan went well! You're so good staying team yellow! Hope you can get a pic up soon :-)

Bettyhop · 05/01/2019 10:51

Here they are! Can't stop looking at the pictures 😍

I'm planning to have the baby on the alongside midwife led unit. As a midwife I've seen it go all ways so won't be doing a birth plan but will just try and go with the situation at the time (easier said than done I'm sure!) X

Crossfitgirl · 05/01/2019 11:00

@bettyhop yayyy! Gorgeous little thing!
I've had a look at recommended books and found on the list on mumsnet there's a couple about coping with labour, I might do a bit of reading.
After watching OBEM (educational I know) I think anything could happen and I guess you don't know till the day what you're going to want or have to do!

ChaosMoon · 05/01/2019 11:28

Oh @bettyhop what a gorgeous baby! And team yellow all the way. Surprises are great!

CookieWaffle · 05/01/2019 12:23

Beautiful scan @Bettyhop!! xx

sunshine1987 · 05/01/2019 13:33

@bettyhop lovely scan photo 💜

MrsEG · 05/01/2019 14:30

@Bettyhop Beautiful!! I would love to wait and have the sex be a surprise but DH cant wait to know! What a lovely surprise you’ll have in a few more months!

MrsLBear · 05/01/2019 14:41

Are any of you ladies joining your local NCT classes?

MrsLBear · 05/01/2019 14:43

@Bettyhop aw what a beautiful picture!! Must be so amazing to be able to take it home to look at.
We are team yellow too although it will be hard not to ask as I'm so nosy!!

EltzBee · 05/01/2019 15:14

@Bettyhop aww that's amazing, wonderful scan pic!

I think we will find out but not share with friends or family. I'm confident it will be a boy. DH is a twin boy, and his father was one of 4 boys, and DHs bro has 3 boys. We stand no chance of anything but a boy! Lol

SullyWifey · 05/01/2019 16:25

@Bettyhop oh look at your little baby! 😍 we are team yellow too!! 🥰

ChaosMoon · 05/01/2019 16:37

@MrsLBear we're doing Bump and Baby rather than NCT. I've heard such mixed reviews about NCT and we really liked the mix of stuff that Bump and Baby offer. They even include baby first aid.

CrystalBlaze · 05/01/2019 16:45

Gorgeous pic @Bettyhop! Love it. I'm really glad we decided to stay team yellow too @Chaos. I am taking the same approach re birth plan. Trying to look at it like whatever needs to happen will happen and not get too stressed. Easier said now than nearer the time though I bet Smile

Bought paint for the nursery today - it all feels much more real now. Think DP is realising how much work he's going to have to do too - ha!

@Crossfitgirl glad you're feeling a bit better. The food aversion does ease off and then I went through a phase of being ravenous all the time. Pregnancy does such weird things to you!

@MrsL my NCT starts at the end of the month. I was unsure about doing it but lots of people we know who've had kids recently recommended it - not so much for the advice but for meeting people in a similar position. We didn't get membership @Crossfitgirl - thought about it but the thing that put me off was they share your contact details with other members on your course automatically and I really wasn't sure about that! Felt a bit anti-social but would rather decide for myself if I like people enough to give them my number Wink

MrsM2017 · 05/01/2019 17:12

@Bettyhop gorgeous baby! 😍👶

MrsLBear · 05/01/2019 17:34

@ChaosMoon that sounds interesting will look that up!!

So if you don't get membership do you just pay for the "course"? I don't really get it but will have another look at the website now @CrystalBlaze.
Only thing is I will choose the option for 2 Saturdays and one evening but I normally work Saturdays so will have to take a day off to do it. I am my own boss but it's still a tricky one. Having said that it will be in August and I will be due in September so guess I'm allowed. My DH hates all that information sharing. He works in cyber security so is completely anal with stuff like that. Drives me insane sometimes!!

@EltzBee I said that to my DH today. I just know I will end up with all boys. As long as they are healthy and happy I'm good with that though despite really wanting a girl some day.

CrystalBlaze · 05/01/2019 17:57

@MrsL yep we just paid for the course, think it was about £230. I couldn't really see much extra benefit to getting membership.

I'm convinced ours is a boy too but DP is adamant it's a girl so it's become a competition Grin

Bettyhop · 05/01/2019 18:04

Thanks so much everyone! Can't stop looking at the photo. DP thinks I have lost it completely as I think the baby looks like him already😂 I'm 80% sure it is a boy but DP is convinced we are having a girl, just like you @crystalblaze ! I enjoy the speculation and rivalry🤭
Starting to feel overwhelmed at everything we need to purchase, I've spent the last 20 weeks thinking we would start buying after the scan. Now it's been and gone we need to make a start! Has anyone found a comprehensive list of what to buy and what is a waste of money? Xxx

EltzBee · 05/01/2019 18:17

Have a dreadful headache this afternoon and absolutely shattered. Headache is behind my left eye and won't go, had a lie down but nope. That and feel so heavy down there. Making me paranoid! At 6 weeks today and it sounds like it is all quite normal. Don't know whether to take paracetamol or just try and man up through it. Go DH doing me some pasta and then early night.

CrystalBlaze · 05/01/2019 18:20

@EltzBee definitely have some paracetamol, it's absolutely fine to take and no need to suffer unnecessarily!

@Bettyhop I thought the same after our scan! Think the baby definitely has his mouth and my nose.

sunshine1987 · 05/01/2019 18:45

Those that are doing NCT, are you doing it for the learning or the friends? Not sure I can justify the price 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure what to do x
