We've run out of room so let's start again.

New people welcome. The group aims to support those who are pregnant post difficulty.

All are welcome - we are aimed at 12 week plus as those early weeks are a different kind of roller coaster and another group exists for support then. However you are welcome here too if you want to join.

Some of us have been here a while and nearly ready to pop. Others already had their babies.

Welcome one and all xxx

I did not enjoy being exhausted in the 1st trimester so I think feeling better now has given me a real boost. Also can wait to start feeling the baby move - I have an anterior placenta so I fear it may be a while!

beanhunter · 09/01/2019 20:56

@felicityheather. Still vomiting mom 5x per day here at 26 weeks. Hating it all.

felicityheather · 09/01/2019 21:25

Thanks @beanhunter - making me feel better! I just keep tearing my oesophagus. Doc is so unconcerned...! 'It's normal,'. Is it?! Is it really normal to vomit blood all day every day! No one told me this!?!

beanhunter · 09/01/2019 21:32

Are you on any meds? I’m taking 3 antisickness meds and ranitidine. Was on steroids for a while but they made me stop them. Had so many hospital admissions. It’s really grim isn’t it.

felicityheather · 09/01/2019 21:41

@beanhunter no. They've just given me omiprezole which I can't say I notice does anything. The thing is sometimes I go nearly a whole day fine so it's not like I'm not getting any nutrition. But then it's three days of this...!! Also, I've noticed I'm much better if I'm home alone cause I eat exactly when I'm hungry. At work or when out it's harder to regulate and then it's chaos. My midwife is really sweet about it but I saw the doc and he was just like 'that's a normal pregnancy'. Made me feel like I was exaggerating. Monday at work I literally threw up all down my front because I tried to finish a phone call before going to the loos. So embarrassing. Plus I have quite a responsible job where I can't easily just walk away from my desk without asking a colleague to cover my alarms etc and I work in a male dominated industry with a handful of people who think women shouldn't be there precisely because we go off and have babies. It's really hard because I'm try

felicityheather · 09/01/2019 21:41

I'm trying to prove I'm just as competent, but I'm really not at the moment.

beanhunter · 09/01/2019 21:51

I would go back to doctor and ask for antisickness. You can also buy ranitidine over the counter if needed and can add to omeprazole

Crazyeyes3 · 10/01/2019 11:02

Hey.
I’m 18+1 with an IVF baby :) and due in June. I am still in disbelief that this has actually worked and still think something is going to go wrong.
I’m quite jealous of the people who fall pregnant without any help and then seem to have no worries at all.
I have my 20 week scan at the end of Jan and I’m hoping that will put my mind at rest a bit.

Janefx40 · 10/01/2019 15:55

Hello and welcome to @Crazyeyes3 @2countries1bump and @Spargle I'm so excited to have new people on the thread! It was a lifesaver for me. I just felt that although the anxiety post 12 weeks was slightly different, I couldn't relate to those who had got pregnant easily.

@Spargle I remember you from other threads! Not sure if it was an infertility thread or an IVF one but either way and so happy to see you on this side.

@felicityheather don't be dismissed by Drs. Constant nausea and vomiting is serious.

My best friend who has had hyperemesis 3 times recommends Ondansetron (generic name) The brand name is Zofran and Metoclopramide which she says is cheaper / more easily given. Not sure if that is helpful or not

I'm due in 10 days but baby hasn't engaged. In a race now to avoid induction x

@Janefx40 it was just the general 35+ TTC thread. I was on there for about 6 months, then dropped off when it became apparent it wasn’t going to happen for us (we had tests done at the 6-month mark, and were told by the GP that ICSI was likely to be our only chance, but it took ages for our referral to the fertility clinic to go through). It was a bit depressing when I felt I had nothing to contribute - obviously I wouldn’t be getting a BFP, and pretending otherwise would have been a bit annoying!

On the plus so, it made TTC much more relaxed! When you probably have a 0% chance of success, what does it matter if you miss the fertile window one month? (I’m SO glad he took the supplements and we kept trying, obviously!)

I think I’d fallen off the board before you got your BFP - you were just gearing up for IVF, or had maybe just started it, when I drifted off. I was delighted to see you on here, and eagerly await your birth announcement!

Janefx40 · 11/01/2019 12:01

Thanks @Spargle I shifted into IVF boards once we started. Bizarrely I found them a bit less stressful. I can remember month after month of me and everyone else on infertility boards getting BFNs and it all felt a bit hopeless. As intrusive as IVF is, once I got onto those boards people were getting BFPs all over the place.

We did 2 rounds in the end. One private (as our GP took ages to sort our NHS referral) and the second NHS. We were lucky as there was no waiting list in our area once he'd actually put the form in. It is so unfair what a postcode lottery it is. Where we've moved since, there is no NHS IVF at all whatever your age.

I was so certain that it hadn't worked that I was crying as I took the test. It seemed cruel to even make us go through with it. But up came that magic second line.

Just waiting for things to start now but looks as tho I will have a bit more of a wait at least

As I said, I'm so pleased to see you on this side. I think the first half of pregnancy is more stressful than IVF or infertility but I wouldn't say that to someone still going through it obviously!!

Xxx

Spargle · 11/01/2019 15:23

@Janefx40 I think you have a point about the first half of pregnancy being more stressful than infertility (although I am thankful not to know about IVF) - now I have a baby which might die, whereas before I had no such worry!

(Felt it move, perhaps, 4 days out of 5 after 16 weeks, and nothing at all until maybe an hour ago - 17+2 today. I know that I am worrying over nothing, and that I probably didn’t actually feel the baby move at all, and that there are so many reasons why it’s so not an issue, but it’s uncomfortable!)

And yes - I wasn’t certain that I wasn’t pregnant before I took the test, but I had a lot less riding on the result than you! I’d had the HSG, and was slightly more hopeful than usual, but AF kept being one or more days late, so although my chart did look good, it had looked equally good before to no avail. It was a very pleasant surprise when it came up positive!

Janefx40 · 11/01/2019 15:51

Ah yes the new worry about the baby moving! I just had a look back at my diary. I felt some fluttering around 18/19 weeks but first definite movement was 20+6 with daily movement from 22 weeks. That said you can always go in for monitoring any time you are worried. Can't hurt to check.

Morning ladies. I’ve been a bit quiet because....my little girl is finally here! 😊

I decided to have an outpatient induction 4 days ahead of my due date in the end & thankfully, it all went smoothly & relatively quickly! It took under 12 hours from the pressary being inserted to having my daughter being put on my chest! Thankfully, there were no further interventions. My partner and I are a bit sleep deprived, but so in love with her. 😍

@janefx40, how are things going with you? I know you’re also deciding on whether or not to induce. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for you and baby. Not much longer before you meet your little one! 😊

Ladies, good luck for the rest of your journeys! 😀

Beherenow32 · 15/01/2019 07:58

@SouthernBella74 congrats on your little one’s same arrival!

@Janefx40 hope things are going ok for you...

How did everyone deal with back/ leg pain if they had it? It’s so sore at night, and starting to get worse during the day. I have midwife this week so will mention it then too

Take care xx

Janefx40 · 15/01/2019 08:22

@SouthernBella74 congratulations. This is amazing news. It's so exciting that she is here!! And I'm so pleased that your induction went well and to hear a positive induction story too!!!

Do you mind me asking what your Bishops Score was before they started the induction?

I was meant to go for a sweep yesterday but my body isn't ready. I'm going back Thursday for another check. If my Bishops score is favourable we will induce on Friday. If not we will wait until Sunday.

@Beherenow32 I didn't do anything (I had more leg pain that back but it's been pretty bad at night). I just go and sleep in the spare room so I can thrash about more. But I recently discovered an osteopath who specialises in women, childbirth etc - that could be a good option for you maybe?

@southernbella74 what lovely news. It really is the most amazing feeling isn’t it. My little one is 6 weeks on Thursday and the time has flown by, he’s changed so much in such a short space of time and we went to our first baby massage class yesterday, he screamed the place down as he hates having his clothes off but I’m hoping this will pass by soon 🙈

Liverpool19 · 15/01/2019 09:55

Congratulations southernbella good news the induction went well!

jane hope everything goes ok for you.

beherenow I used to get massages off our physio in work and then i booked in and paid for a pregnancy massage by where I live.

SouthernBella74 · 15/01/2019 10:14

Thanks ladies! I’m still running off adrenaline, as I’ve only had 3 hours continuous sleep since Saturday night! 😬 But really pleased to have made it to the end! 🙌

@janefx40, ahhh, the Bishops Score. I heard it mentioned...but only when I rang AIMS for advice. No doctor or midwife told me what mine was though. 😬

I went for a sweep last Thursday & my cervix was soft & 2-3cm long, but internal cervix closed. So, she could sweep the membranes. When they inserted the pressary, they said my cervix was still closed. My waters broke 6hrs later. I wanted to labour at home as long as possible, since I had been excluded from going to the birth centre. Ended up arriving at the hospital fully dilated, so they rushed me to a room & baby was delivered 30 min later! 😬 I only decided to go to the hospital at that point because I wanted gas & air, but as baby was nearly there the midwives told me there was no point & start pushing! 😂😂😂

Liverpool19 · 15/01/2019 10:39

That’s amazing southern I managed 4 hours at home then my waters went. I’m glad your induction was positive like mine! What weight was you little girl?

My little boy is 7 weeks now. It feels like I’ve blinked and we are at week 7 😂 he’s getting his own personality now it’s so funny.

ButtonMooooon · 15/01/2019 21:40

@OneMoreWish here you go lovely x

Fox23 · 15/01/2019 22:26

@SouthernBella74 congratulations!!!! I’m so so pleased for you!!! 💐 😀😀😀
It really is such a amazing feeling, isn’t it ☺️
@Janefx40 few more days for you!!! Almost there! How are you feeling? All packed and ready? And ideas on baby size? I remember baby was above 90% few months back?

My little one in soon 3months... and she is already wearing 3-6month clothing. She sleeps through the night and loves looking at baby books and tv!!!!!! She is such a darling and is now just over 6kg.
I can’t believe I will say this but I have started to consider the FET round two as soon as Alice is one... yes, I can’t believe I’m even saying that.... but I’m not getting younger and i do have two Frosties awaiting my decision.

Liverpool19 · 16/01/2019 09:29

fox we are considering this too but once the baby is about 1 and a half. So next June. I have 4 frozen so will see how we feel about it next year. Glad to hear you little girl is doing well. My little one is still in up to one month clothes at 7 weeks he weighs 9lb now but still diddy 😂

Not long for you jane so excited for you. I remember you getting your positive after being so down about everything. Look at you now!

X

Janefx40 · 16/01/2019 14:23

Thanks folks. It's really good to be reminded of the journey we've been on. I was sooo sure that it hadn't worked. I remember ranting about how cruel it was to make us do the test...and then those two little lines appeared...

The baby is estimated to be 8lb 14 but there is lots of room for error there. It was always my bump rather than the baby that was giant (still off the scale!) but she is at 87%.

This time next week I will be a Mum. Wow.

It's so great to hear how you are getting on. @Fox23 I really can't believe Alice is 3 months old!!! And @Liverpool19 your man is 7 weeks?!

I've been wondering whether I should do egg collection ASAP as I'm 41 to try to get more Frosties. I have 2 but if they don't work out, I will be even older by the time we start doing stims again.

So odd having to make these decisions!

Beherenow32 · 16/01/2019 15:07

@Janefx40 sooo exciting! I often think about this time last year, I had my last failed cycle, and feel so so grateful to be pregnant now. Good luck for the next week xx

I think we will do FET when baby is around a year old... younger if I feel I can manage! But definitely will not go through a fresh cycle again. We have 2 frozen- but don’t feel as much pressure for these for work than before xx
