With your first pregnancy if you were TTC, and how old were you?

I know up to a year is normal, I know it’s dependent on many factors, but I’m just nosey and curious really!

Started TTC when I was 26, I'm now 30 and 10 weeks pregnant.

SLP88 · 12/10/2018 09:18

I am 30 and expected it to take a while. Came off the pill at end of April and got BFP on 2nd July. 19 weeks tomorrow so almost half way there 🙂

Equimum · 12/10/2018 09:30

I’ve just read your update OP. Sounds like a sensible plan if you don’t want a baby sooner. We had a three month window with DC2 due to an international move, job contracts etc. I hope it works out as well for you.

iforgotwhatiwasgoingtosay · 12/10/2018 10:02

I'm 25 and 13 months after coming off Depo Provera, was a long 13 month wait!

ineedsomeinspiration · 12/10/2018 10:03

With my first I was 29, came off the pill in November but wasn't actively TTC, fell pregnant in the March.

With my second I was 33, had the implant removed in January, had one period and fell pregnant again in March.

Thanks *. It wouldn’t be a disaster if I bit earlier, but Jan-Mar would be ideal. TBH I’m very aware than anything can happen, we could be trying years, but on the off chance it happens quickly I’ll prepare for that now! I’ve been using Natural Cycles for a while do already very familiar with my cycle, and we’re going to give it a solid bash (Wink) for a couple of months and see what happens. If we then have to pause for a bit that’s fine too.

Gosh there’s a lot of typos in that post. Thanks Equimum that should be

Usually first or second time at 31-32. Longest was 3 months at 35. Lost the first 3 to early mc (one missed mc) the last two survived

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 12/10/2018 10:20

Should add I’ll be 31 by January - so feeling worryingly bolstered by all this positivity.

6 months
3 years (unexplained)
We never used contraception after no.2 as I wouldn't have been disappointed with a pregnancy and thought it was unlikely. We conceived no.3 when she was 15 months

I was around 30, so not age related

LittleDoveLove · 12/10/2018 10:36

Hello I think I am quite unusual but it was my first attempt. I am 35 and will be 36 when I have my little one. I think tracking my cycles with an app so I knew when my likely ovulation window helped, I didn't go OTT with the temp tracking etc just when my period was due. I fully expected it to take me ages over so I was pretty relaxed about it. I think that also helped as stress causes issues I've heard.

HumpHumpWhale · 12/10/2018 10:50

3 months, miscarriage at 8 weeks. 2 months later pg again, miscarriage at 6 wks. 1 month later, pregnant again, that one stuck. I was 31, 32 giving birth. With second kid, it took 6 months but I was breastfeeding for the first 3 cycles and I'm pretty sure I wasn't ovulating at least the first 2. Then missed the window on one cycle because of a holiday without DH. I was 34. 35 giving birth.

Starsong82 · 12/10/2018 11:22

Pretty much immediately here as well, came off pill in January after nearly 20 years. Tracked cycles and used ovulation strips Feb and March but not ttc just wanted to check I was ovulating and as I hadn't had a period in years had no idea of my cycle length. April was our first month actively trying. We thought that due to my age and BMI (both 36) it would take months if it happened at all but nope got my BFP in May and due January!

Noodella18 · 12/10/2018 11:23

I’m 34 and conceived second cycle. Feel incredibly lucky as I know it’s not as straightforward for lots of people (a quick squizz at the conception boards will tell you that!!)

Momma22 · 12/10/2018 11:28

DD was a surprise baby when I was 22.

First try, resulted in miscarriage, I was 25.

4 cycles later ... pregnant!

I'm 25 and almost 12 weeks pregnant with dc no 2.

jellycat1 · 12/10/2018 11:32

Amazingly, 1st try for DS1 at 38 and 1st try for DS2 at 39, a couple of months before my 40th. We couldn't believe it. I was always reading about women 'leaving it too late' and had assured DH it would take ages both times. We now have 2 boys 17 months apart and sleep in separate rooms just in case 😄

jellycat1 · 12/10/2018 11:33

Oh do give over OP!

Foreverexhausted · 12/10/2018 11:34

DC1 - I was 41 and it took just over a year with a miscarriage at the beginning.

DC2 - I was 43 and first month.

DC3 - 45 and a complete shock!! Wasn't trying and only DTD once that month.

Flatasapancakenow · 12/10/2018 11:36

1st month of TTC with all 5 babies. Lost baby #4 to a missed miscarriage at 11 wks though.

Flatasapancakenow · 12/10/2018 11:37

I was 18 with baby #1 - unplanned pregnancy actually. 24 with #2, 26 with #3, 28 with #4 and #5.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 12/10/2018 12:07

jellycat1 what? I’m so used to everyone saying ‘it takes up to a year, can take ages even when trying loads’ that seeing so many 1-3 month answers makes me think it might not actually take ages!

5 years including fertility treatment and adoption. Bmi was higher than all throughout treatment etc. Had sex once in 3 months a week before period due. Dc2 now 2 and a half. Concieved when I was 33.

vh564 · 12/10/2018 12:32

6 months - use the clear blue fertility sticks

jellycat1 · 12/10/2018 12:53

@IsTheRainEverComingBack oh sorry i thought you saying you were getting on a bit at 31 which to we grannies is always a bit amusing Grin

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 12/10/2018 13:26

@jellycat1 ha ha, no I feel pretty young at 30! Though I’m also very aware that fertility does decrease as we get older hence not wanting to wait too much longer, especially as we’d ideally like a few (at the moment we do anyway!)
