Does anyone know about perineum massage or tried it. If yes, then does it do any good.
Any opinions / experience??????

BlueBug45 · 27/08/2018 01:30

There are YouTube videos with instructions.

You should start from 34 weeks and do it at least 3 times a week.

It apparently helps but not in as many cases as they claim. The figures I looked up in one study were 25%. I can't remember the Cochrane review figures but they were lower.

NakedMum33and3rd · 27/08/2018 09:16

Hi all! I have been following this thread. I'm due 27th sept with DC3!

I did perineum massage with both previous pregnancies. I did not tear my perineum either time however I did tear internally and also my Labia. I think it does work. I started from 34 weeks. X

Thanks for advice.
I am 37+1 today. Since 3-4 days I have been feeling sick and dizzy. Drinking water with lime / lemon and bit of salt. Donot know if it is a starting sign of labour 🙄. I am seeing hospital dr on Monday for final scan and diabetic clinic ( Will be 38 weeks exactly). They will decide if I wll wait for two more weeks or induce me. As I have gestational diabetes.
Feeling very nervous 😟

Poptart4 · 27/08/2018 23:00

Im 35 weeks + 1 day and my bump has very obviously dropped. Its nearly on the floor lol. My stools are also loose, not diarrhea but definitely looser than usual (sorry tmi)

Does this mean baby will be here in the next couple of weeks??

I dont want baby to come too early but my last 2 babies were overdue so excited at the thought this little one might come on time.

Anyone else experienced this?

Marriageoftrueminds · 31/08/2018 20:00

Hmmm, my baby hasn’t dropped yet (or at least I haven’t noticed if he has!) so can’t comment on that specifically but I can say I’m 36+4 now and have had loose bowels for well over a week now on and off, I was worried it was a sign of labour but nothing else has happened yet!

What does it feel like when baby drops?! I’m curious! Apparently it can happen weeks before the birth with your first so don’t worry!

snowy1982 · 31/08/2018 20:53

I am 39w today and bump hasn’t dropped yet, bouncing like a mad woman every day. Had MW appointment on Tuesday and baby is still head down (has been for a long time) and MW did say the head was ‘well down’ (she tried to give it a ‘wobble’ and couldn’t) but my bump still seems as high as ever.

Also still having daily diarrhoea, have it every morning and then it clears up, thankfully with being on mat leave I don’t have to worry about it hitting me on the train to work.

37 weeks exactly today! So ready for this baby now!

niclw · 31/08/2018 22:23

I'm 38+3 today. Head is down which is has been for weeks but baby has turned so is now back to back. I've been bouncing on my ball, kneeling etc every day for weeks so am concerned that baby is going to stay that way but at the same time I keep feeling that baby is flipping over back and forth so who knows. Bump has dropped slightly but not much. I was convinced I'd be having this baby at 36 weeks like my mum did both times so wasn't expecting to have to deal with these last few weeks. I'm really struggling to sleep for more than an hour at time but am thinking I might get longer sleeps with the baby here when I'm no longer needing a wee constantly.

bluees · 01/09/2018 00:52

I am 37+5 today. Tried electric breast pump bit didnot have much milk. Just few drops. I donot know if I should be trying or not. Bit is it normal 😒

BlueBug45 · 01/09/2018 05:30

@bluees you are suppose to hand express colostrum first. Then once you have given birth after a few days your milk should come in and you can use any pump.

orphanblack1 · 01/09/2018 08:47

I’m also 37+5 today, bump not yet dropped and getting so frustrated. Just want him here now! Keeping my partner awake with my t-Rex like snoring but he won’t move downstairs in case something happens (bless him) and getting shite sleep myself as weeing all the time!!!

bluees · 01/09/2018 22:51

Thanks @BlueBug45

My DD had her September baby on the 31 st of August (Friday). A little girl delivered by section weighing 7.10lb.

LucyLou19 · 02/09/2018 10:07

Awww will be youngest in her year! Congratulations xx

Sushirolls · 02/09/2018 11:07

Congratulations @deste 🎉 hope all is well with your DD & DGD Flowers xo

deste · 02/09/2018 18:52

Lucylou doesn’t work like that in Scotland, she will go in the August and will be 5 then. The youngest are February birthdays. If you are five before the end of February you go the year before so four and a half.

deste · 02/09/2018 18:55

Forgot to say Thankyou to you and Sushirolls. Honestly it’s the best feeling in the world. We were so excited we forgot our 47th wedding. anniversary on Saturday at least I did.

Sushirolls · 02/09/2018 19:02

I can't wait, my DGS is due next Saturday & our 25th wedding anniversary is this month, so he could potentially arrive at the same time!

Happy anniversary to you and your DH 🎉 Flowers

How exciting, all the babies are starting to arrive 🎉🎉🎉 x

deste · 02/09/2018 22:46

Good luck Sushirolls and Thankyou.

ichifanny · 02/09/2018 22:54

ichifanny · 02/09/2018 22:56

Got nasty grinding feeling in pelvis and pooed about 5 times a day for last few days so definitely feel it’s time for babies eviction .

LucyLou19 · 03/09/2018 08:58

I’m 37+3 and still at work I must be mad!!! 3 days left and then I’m ready for this baby to make an appearance sharpish.xx

bluees · 03/09/2018 12:14

I had 38weeks scan today. All seems fine. Baby's head is engaged no clear signs of labour. Dr booked me for induction on sunday 9.9.19.

Excited but nervous.

itallhappensforareason · 03/09/2018 13:24

My due date is this Thursday. Also have an appointment with my midwife on Thursday so if baby hasn't arrived by then I'm presuming she will offer me a sweep. I wasn't too sure about having one before but I have been booked in for an induction next Thursday at 41w if little man hasn't made a natural appearance by then, so thinking I'll bite the bullet and accept a sweep if possible in the hope I don't have to be induced!!
