I like Daisy for a girl, and really stuck if im having a boy....but a LOnnnnnng way off yet, so I have time

LieselVentouse · 30/05/2007 09:41

David for a boy cant think of anything for a girl but we cant have another one beginning with L. I love Flora but nobody else does

loler · 30/05/2007 10:07

Great thread - am also being stuck this time. Currently Joley Scarlett for girl (obviously!) and Euan George for a boy. DH thinks this is set in stone and refuses to discuss any other options!

Lyra is lovely - will have to suggest to DH!

Hopeitwontbebig - talked to you on your big baby thread - how is this one going? Everyone keeps telling me I look small but don't feel it. Don't see midwife for another 3 weeks (29 wks) so not got a clue!

Diplidophus · 30/05/2007 10:17

We're really struggling and have approx 3 weeks to decide.

DS1 is called Felix

We're sorting with our girsl name

Lara Thea xxxx

but really struggling with our boys name. List:

Cade (Caden) Too unusual, too Welsh although DP is Welsh)
Elijah
Noah (DP isn't sure)
Jasper (too wimpish)
Sacha (too girly?)

Sixer · 30/05/2007 10:17

Well unless dp changes his mind, AGAIN!!

Boys names we chose

CristinaTheAstonishing · 30/05/2007 10:24

How do you pronounce Lyra, is it Lee-ra or Lie-ra?

DS suggested Imogen for his new sister but are there any diminutives apart from Jenny? DS suggested Leslie as well, as he liked Bridge to Terabithia. He had Bamzooki in mind for a boy.

Does anyone else agree that there are so many beautiful girls' names but boys names are all rubbish? Someone please tell me a good boy's name!!

Dd is Zinzi
and next one if a girl will be Aoife
but if it's a boy I don't know what on earth we will do!

MrsMcJnr · 30/05/2007 10:52

Bodkin & Honeyapple ? DH is still worried about the showgirl conitation of Lola (will BM even be alive then?!) also, when I was looking at the names book, there seemed to be other ?lady of the night? conitations to the name that said, there are a few very famous Spanish singers with the name Lola eg Lola Flores. I like Lola Rose for how it sounds and Rose is a family name in DH?s family but my Gran is Rosemary and I would like to name a little girl for her if we have one so Lola Rosemary also, on conitations of names, I happened to mention to my Mum ages ago that I liked Mia, and that Mia Rosemary sounded nice. She had a fit and said that there were too many similarities with the Manson killings because Mia Farrow starred in Rosemary?s Babies ehh?! I have a friend who called her DD Jessica Holly last year, I don?t know if she realised what she?d done but it makes me sad whenever I hear those names together Hadn?t thought of Rosa, like that actually

SoupDragon - you must be famous with names like those!

Huskygirl ? Marli is nice I also quite like Marnie from the book ?When Marnie was here? that I loved when I was a kid, can?t remember who wrote it I?m one of 3 girls, my name ends in an ?a? but both of my sisters end in ?y?.

Ifm ? I like Saul for a while it reminded me of the annoying gut in Hollyoaks ? he was Saul wasn?t he? But It?s so long since I saw it, I could forget

Eidsvold ? I thought I knew you for a mo there!! but my friend with a Benjamin James only has one DD!

Skidadle ? love your unusual names how do you pronounce Aoife?

Bouquetsofdynomite · 30/05/2007 10:55

We pronounce Lyra Lie-ra, against all my linguistic principles, it being Greek and all LOL but I know the character was called it because she was a good liar and that's how I read it in my head.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 30/05/2007 10:57

LieselV, how about Fleur?

LieselVentouse · 30/05/2007 11:02

Mum is that you?

madmumNika · 30/05/2007 11:07

We have DS1 (v traditional!) Samuel James (but always called 'Sam' as not keen on 'Sammy' due to personal memories!)!

For DC2, if a girl, will be: Mairi (pronounced Maa-ree) Lee

if a boy, will be: Rory Angus

We like to use some names that have a family/ancenstry link but also wanted something a little more unusual for DC2.... Find it VERY hard agreeing on names with DP, our lists are always very different!!

skidaddle · 30/05/2007 11:13

MrsMcJnr - Aiofe is pronounced Ee- fa (it's irish as is my dp)

Madmummnika - Rory is the only boy's name I can think of that i like but it's my brother's name so can't use it [sad} - any more boys' names??

scorpio1 · 30/05/2007 11:14

i have a Reilly, thats close to Rory, isnt it??

thehairybabysmum · 30/05/2007 11:28

I have a Callum Elliott and for this one am thinking, for a boy i like Cameron Finlay but think that Callum/Cameron might be too similar though?? I do like Finlay as a first name too but other than that am struggling for boys names.

For a girl have loads of names that i love so no problem there.

bellini · 30/05/2007 11:33

I have a Toby, Archie and Tabitha - no idea what to call number 4 a girl. Any ideas welcome.......

madmumNika · 30/05/2007 12:25

skidaddle- how about Ronan or Rowan? other boys names on my list were:
Arran
Luke or Lucas
Callum
Alasdair
Rohan
Leo
David

For your amusement DP's list was:
Bob (not Robert!)
Earl
Joe
Cain
Ray
Ryan

Other girls names on my list were:
Amber
Iona
Inez
Eilidh
Heather
Lucie
Sian

Other girls names on DP's list were:
Eve
Lorna
Ailsa

skidaddle · 30/05/2007 12:34

madmumnika, no not as good as Rory - love Iona BTW but I have girls' names coming out my nose (is that an expression??)
Quite like Inigo (as in Jones, the architect) but dp hates it. He likes Killian and Malachi (both Irish) - they're all OK but nothing is quite right IYKWIM
