DS is Yusuf which is Arabic for Joseph...if we had a little girl, would have called her Sumayah Jeehan or Layla Rose....

maxbear · 28/05/2007 21:42

We have Harriet who is often known as Hattie, and Edward who is Eddie or Ed.

ellieandhattie · 28/05/2007 21:43

Hattie Alice (Alice after dh gran whi's 93!)

but Hattie was picked night before c-section when we had said Jessica from day 1 shocked alot of people and 20 weeks later my mum still hates it!!

ellieandhattie · 28/05/2007 21:44

x post maxbear have never met another Hattie hurrah we are not 'weird' and we debated on Harriet for birth certificate but opted for Hattie (nightmare to buy anyhting with her name on though!)

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2007 21:47

I love Ruby, but couldn't have it with our surname. DD was very nearly Claudia, but we changed our minds at the last minute. If she'd been a boy we would have called her Edward and shortend it to Ted DS2 was very nearly Hugo, but it just didn't suit hime when he was born. At the moment I think Vincent, possibley shortend to Vinny is a cool name.

Pollyanna · 28/05/2007 21:51

I like the name Hattie.

If I had another girl I would have
Cecilia
Florence
Kitty
Elizabeth (Betty maybe)
Clementine
Frances

For boys I like
Jesse
Sonny
Michael
Felix
Finn
Max (maybe)
Fred
Johnny

(dh would insist on Tom or Elizabeth )

luciemule · 28/05/2007 21:52

babygrand · 29/05/2007 07:42

Well, if you haven't had it yet, I wouldn't worry about it. Decide when it's born. Can't understand why people have to do so much before the birth these days.

dejags · 29/05/2007 08:12

My three are:

DS1: Caelan Elliot
DS2: Tate Timothy
DD: Carys Faith (born four weeks ago)

I also love:

Ephraim Dean
Frances June

We have :
DD1 - Evie Lauren
DD2 - Casey Mae

We also liked Thea and Mia (but have niece called Tia so that went out of the window)also loved Isla and for boys we were having either Jude or Finlay (Finn for short).

FoghornLeghorn · 29/05/2007 08:57

Be warned - lots of Evie's about ! Didn't notice so much before we had DD1 but now there seem to be lots - think it was quite a popular name a few years back

BibiThree · 29/05/2007 09:05

We're due twin girls in a few weeks and are thinking of:

Angharad
Ceinwen
Francesca (Fran)
Freya

weepootleflump · 29/05/2007 09:34

Hopeitwontbe, from your list I love Orla.

TheExpectantFather · 29/05/2007 10:02

Is there a more subjective topic? It's such a personal choice, don't you find. One person's Jeremiah is another person's Chantelle.

My wife and I decided upon a rule that when we come up with a name we have to imagine shouting it across the playground. If it sounded like we were calling a pet dog, the name was instantly discarded.

Which means, although we're not religious, we've ended up with what are traditional religious names on our list. Matthew, Simon, Mark, Peter, Jesus etc

We just have to pick on now...

Cheers, Ian.

rantinghousewife · 29/05/2007 12:13

Ds is David John (not very original, family name) and dd is Anya Louise.
But for a boy I love Cillian and I really wanted to call dd Kitty, hubby wouldn't have it!!

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 29/05/2007 12:23

running the names Dominic or Eloise round in my head for the next one....can't get that Damned song out my head

Bodkin · 29/05/2007 19:23

Hey MrsMc - looks like we are thinking along similar lines for girl's names - there's a few of my faves in that list!

Can I do a quick hijack actually and ask what the general consensus on Lola is? Do you think the whole Charlie and Lola thing means it has become a bit too popular? I don't know any others in my town, but just wondered about everywhere else. DP and I both really like it, and it goes well with our DD1s name, so it is a serious contender. Thanks, hijack over!

Hopeitwontbebig · 29/05/2007 19:42

I like Lola
