Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

I wish you all the strength in the world and all the best for the future.

@Decafplease, my heart aches for you and your husband. I hope you can take all of the time you need to grieve and have good support around you. Feel free to come back here to caht if you like, and of course completely understand if you don't. I'm so very sorry for all you have been through. It is utterly, utterly unfair. Flowers

Liverpool19 · 02/08/2018 18:28

Anyone else suffering from really bad back ache? Today I’ve really really struggled with it. He must be in a really comfy position but I’d like him to move now 😂 x

Fox23 · 02/08/2018 18:44

@Liverpool19 yes, unfortunately I do too... I do have scoliosis (very mild) but slightest unthought move and my back just goes. Normally my back doesn’t irritate me at all, but lately it’s quite bad. I’m not surprised tho, I’m huge

Liverpool19 · 02/08/2018 18:50

Oh that doesn’t sound nice fox I’m still really small so he must be leaning right back 🤦🏼‍♀️ I need to jump about try and move him but I don’t have the energy this week. 23 weeks in and I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall! Can’t belive I am 6 months next week!! X

Fox23 · 02/08/2018 19:06

@Liverpool19 time is really flying! I have only 8 weeks before maternity leave starts and it doesn’t feel that long ago I was 12 weeks in! Scary!!!!
23 weeks! Wow! Have you started any preparations? Nursery? Shopping?

Liverpool19 · 02/08/2018 19:30

It’s mental isn’t it! I’ve started shopping we have the pram, prep machine etc everything like that. The nursery though.... we sold our house quicker than we could possibly ever imagine, without having another one. So we are currently living in my mums until after he is here then going to buy another 😂 my mum had not long decorated her spare room (all white) so that’s going to be the babies room we’re not going to decorate it with moving again because hopefully by the time he’s ready to go in at 6 months we have our own house. We have been lucky as my mums house is really big so the move back in hasn’t been so bad. We accepted an offer on our house the day we got the confirmation to say we would be starting IVF so I moved back home 10 weeks pregnant and still managed to keep it a secret until nearly 14 weeks. As we didn’t tell anyone we had started IVF. So I’m sure my mums thinking this wasn’t part of the bargain 😂😂 you all sorted? Xx

Fox23 · 02/08/2018 19:57

@Liverpool19 wow! That’s great! It’s fantastic to have support and I’m sure later on you’ll be so glad to have a free babysitter 😁 my parents don’t live in the uk, so We went to see them when I was 14 weeks.

Yes, I have absolutely everything sorted! Everything! Nursery, pram, cot, car seat, clothing, million muslins etc... scary!!! Now I need to start panicking about the due date! I think all the nesting is just to keep my mind off the birth- natural or c section- still ouch

Liverpool19 · 02/08/2018 20:10

I know but them I’m looking forward to having my own house again but I know I’ll appreciate having the help with my Mum here. She’s away for 3 weeks at Christmas so I’m sure I’ll miss her then 😂 yes I have so many clothes etc. I’m trying not to think of the birth, what ever way he comes out isn’t going to be nice is it 😂 x

Fox23 · 02/08/2018 20:33

Lol! So true!!! I still keep telling my DH that all this pregnancy thing and especially the birth surely can’t be natural! I mean, why couldn’t mother nature come up with a zipper or more appropriate way of getting the baby out! lol 😂
You are right- no need to worry about it now, it will happen one way or another regardless

Liverpool19 · 02/08/2018 21:21

I said this 😂 it’s 2018 why isn’t there any easier way like the stalk drops them off 😂 I invested in a pregnancy pillow first night I am going to sleep on it hoping this will help ease some aches. So comfy so far 🤞🏻 X

Fox23 · 02/08/2018 21:33

Yes!!! I bought mine when I was 23 weeks! I got the v shaped one and it’s total life (night sleep) changer! Can’t believe I didn’t use it before pregnancy!!! So true- it is 2018 and we still have to go through exactly the same as women thousands years ago! 😂 stork would be lovely! Cabbage would also be ok 👌

Janefx40 · 02/08/2018 22:54

@Liverpool19 let me know how the pillow goes. I've been having bad upper back pain - I think this is maybe because I have a huge curve in my lower back which transfers the strain upwards. Either way it hurts. Have been sleeping with a pillow between my legs but not sure how much that is helping x

Liverpool19 · 03/08/2018 07:38

Pregnancy pillow helped massively last night. I sort of slept on top of it and the extra support was great. He’s either moved position or it’s the pillow. Either way I had a great sleep 😂

Fox23 · 03/08/2018 08:31

@Liverpool19 that’s fantastic! Nothing beats good night sleep 😴
So glad it’s Friday!

DameSylvieKrin · 03/08/2018 13:52

@Fox23, it’s interesting what you say about the scoliosis because I also have it mildly, never any effect except after 12 hour days in my Saturday retail job as a teenager, but I had excruciating pain at the level of the bottom of the ‚s‘ from w 5. It got a bit better around week 24 and now everything hurts anyway so it’s not bothering me.

swimchick1980 · 03/08/2018 23:42

Loving the chat ladies. The birth with CD1 honestly wasn’t that bad - i’m not saying it will be the same for everyone but please don’t worry too much about it. I haven’t tried a pregnancy pillow. I sleep on my front and close now to having all limbs in the air 🤣🤣. Thankfully still sleeping ok apart from having to get up to pee!

Got a whooping cough vaccination today - arm has been killing me all day, such a wimp.

Have a lovely weekend everyone 😃

Barcelo18 · 04/08/2018 05:59

@decafplease. I am devastated to hear your news, life really is so cruel at times. No words that I can say will ease your pain but just know that everyone is thinking of you xxxxxxxxx

Fox23 · 04/08/2018 11:36

This heat... I honestly blame it for me not getting good sleep! Enough is enough, bring on some refreshing rain ☔️
@swimchick1980 for me that vaccine Didn’t give much aces and pains, but if I touched that spot it felt as if I have massive bruise!
Also... clumsiness- am I the only who literally gets a new bruise or cut or scrape every single day???
