Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

@swimchick1980 how wonderful to know you both are doing so well! 💕💕💕💕💕
True, I’ve never known love like before.
How is your DC1 with the baby? And how’s your DH? Family?
Once again my congratulations 💐💐💐💐

Liverpool19 · 18/11/2018 10:01

The plug is still coming along with some lovely brown stuff 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hoping the midwife can dislodge more in the morning. The parts of pregnancy you don’t get told or are amazing 😂
Hope everyone is well. X

Janefx40 · 18/11/2018 14:08

That's great Liverpool that you are on your way. Baby number 6 for this group coming soon x

@swimchick1980 how is it going? Hope you are having the best time ever! How’s the lovely baby? Your baby had fantastic birth weight- just right! ☺️ I suppose you are at home already?

@Liverpool19 any news yet? When is your next medical appointment?

I just can’t wait!!!! Soooo exciting!
I’m starting weight watchers today. I lost about a stone since my baby was born, but that was all water weight... so I could have pizza and McDonalds and lose weight the next day. Now the hard work will start. I can’t exercise yet, and nutritionally I have to be very conscious and aware, so weight watchers offer me this including allowing for mixed feeding extra calories. Wish me luck!!
It’s my Birthday this week, so yes, on reflection- what a year I’ve had!

Liverpool19 · 19/11/2018 09:30

Few cramps yesterday and a couple this morning fox but nothing major. I think I’ve had a “bloody show” so will ask my midwife when I see her today. Hopefully my sweep may move things along 🤞🏻 Oh what a lovely week to have your birthday! I’m really looking forward to getting back in the gym in January. Really finding it hard not doing anything 😂 x

swimchick1980 · 19/11/2018 10:13

@Liverpool19 - it definitely sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you. Fingers crossed the sweep does the job but it certainly sounds like your body is getting itself ready anyway.

@Fox23, so far so good. Less sleep each night but never mind!! Wow, i’m very impressed you’ve started weight watchers already. I need to start too but not yet! I put on too much both before and during pregnancy this time so am a bit daunted but will get there......

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

Liverpool19 · 19/11/2018 10:59

Well the Sweep killed like unreal thought I might be sick afterwards 🤣 she was able to get a finger in a sweep round she said 🤮 I have another Friday, if this doesn’t work then induction Sunday. So hopefully it one of them will be enough 🤞🏻 X

Janefx40 · 19/11/2018 12:12

@Liverpool19 oh no! Sorry it was painful. Doesn't sound much fun. Hopefully it does the drink soon. Looking forward to getting another lovely boy on this thread as we have mostly been having lovely girls!

Xxx

swimchick1980 · 19/11/2018 12:29

Oh no, that’s a shame it was so painful. I think I have heard that if it is sore, it means it is more likely to work......🤞

Liverpool19 · 19/11/2018 12:49

I heard that too swim she said he must of liked having his head poked as he was very active afterwards 😂 I know it can take 48 hours to work so we shall see. X

Fox23 · 19/11/2018 14:47

@Liverpool19 be strong, you are nearly there! With some luck you may be a mum by the end of the week 😉
It’s so surreal, right? You will be mum soon! 💐💐💐

emalady · 19/11/2018 15:29

@liverpool19 hope your sweep is successful and you can avoid having another one. I think you said but are you having sweep/ induction because of dates /ivf/other? I don't see my consultant until 19/12 but wanted to know what to ask /expect.

@fox23 happy birthday for later in the week. I'm very impressed with the weight loss and getting on with weight watchers so quickly. I'm avoiding the scales at the moment but will have to face how much I gained through treatment and pregnancy some time, just not yet.

Had my 28 week midwife appointment today. So lovely hearing her heartbeat. She has also moved from lying across my abdomen to head down so hopefully she will stay that way around!

Liverpool19 · 19/11/2018 17:00

fox it feels really weird knowing that 😂
emalady the reason for induction is basically because I asked for it. I’m just not wanting to go over. That might sound mental to some people but I like to have a bit of an idea of when this child is coming.
It’s not for everyone I know that and I’m expecting it to be more painful 😂 the sweep is again because I asked the midwife to help me out and move along 😂
Good news about the head emalady mines been down since 25 or so weeks and hasn’t moved so hopefully the same for you.
So I have sweep Friday, induction Sunday if nothing has happened inbetween 🤞🏻
X

beanhunter · 19/11/2018 20:46

Had a reassurance scan at 18+5 today and everything looks good. Can’t quite believe it as still no movements and was getting very anxious. Tentatively looks like we are team pink.

Liverpool19 · 19/11/2018 21:16

Brilliant beanhunter I didn’t really feel anything until after 18 weeks so it’s normal x

Fox23 · 19/11/2018 22:23

@beanhunter same here, st 20 week scan I still hadn’t had any feeling of movement. Don’t worry, your little one will make up for it during 2nd half of your pregnancy.
And if it is team pink- congratulations from my team pink 🎀🎀🎀
If it turns out it’s team blue- it’s wonderful!
💙

Barcelo18 · 20/11/2018 06:23

Congratulations @swimchick1980. It makes me feel so excited to hear of all these babies arriving. 3 weeks and 6 days for me. The hospital have confirmed I have preeclampsia so I’m at the hospital every other day for full blood profiling and monitoring as it’s yet to show up in my blood and whilst my bo is high it’s not dangerously high but the midwives have said it’s a matter of time really. Big day will be Friday as I have a growth scan and if they see the baby hasn’t grown they may have to take some action then.

emalady · 20/11/2018 06:27

@liverpool19 I think I may end up asking the same. Hoping she comes herself just before though!

@beanhunter I definitely wasn't feeling anything at 18 weeks, was around 22-24 I was pretty sure it's wasn't just gas 😂. Glad everything is OK.

Liverpool19 · 20/11/2018 09:11

emalady I also said as it’s taken so long to this point I want to know he is safe towards the end etc and would personally feel more at ease if it was done this way. X
barcelo you are deffinatly in the right place, even if your baby comes 3 weeks early that’s not a lot. Keep us updated.
X

swimchick1980 · 22/11/2018 19:38

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @Barcelo18 and hope the sweep does the job for you @Liverpool19 x

Beherenow32 · 22/11/2018 20:47

Hope everyone is doing ok with scans, induction, babies etc 😊

Just wondering (while not stressing!) did anyone find that baby’s movement became more gentle, instead of stronger for a while. I was feeling quite obvious and hard kicks. But last few days these are barely noticeable. I think there is some movement, but it’s so gentle now I’m not even sure! I am still only 24 weeks, so suppose baby still have room?
Thanks! Xx

Liverpool19 · 22/11/2018 21:05

Thanks swim
beherenow I didn’t really feel that much at that stage to be honest. So I can’t help with your question! I did hear though they start to become in more of a routine and you become used to the movements. So maybe you are just used to them. X

Fox23 · 22/11/2018 21:26

@Beherenow32 don’t worry. I was told tad I will get to know the movement pattern and I will feel the kicks certain times per certain time period... no, that’s not what happened. Once I started to feel her movements around week 22-ish I never figured out her pattern. Some days she was kicking me, other day nothing... then little then a lot ...

How is everybody doing? Those who are due anytime now- any updates?

Liverpool19 · 22/11/2018 21:39

Sweep tomorrow fox induction Sunday! Few little niggles but nothing else 🤷🏼‍♀️ Felt really off for the last two days aswell. Hope you are well. X

Janefx40 · 23/11/2018 13:11

@Beherenow32 I think sometimes they just shift position so they are harder to feel. Mine is wriggly some days and quiet on others as well. Having said that, it's always worth contacting the labour unit if you are worried. You can usually pop down for a quick check.

@Liverpool19 good luck tomorrow! Maybe you're feeling off because your body is getting ready to go!

I'm fine. Midwife this morning. Bump is back within normal range size wise. Yay! Scan this afternoon.

How did you get on @Barcelo18

How are you @Fox23 and everyone else?
Xxx
