Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

Congratulations alinona hope you feel better soon.
fox goodluck!! Won’t be long before your little one is here!
I had my midwife yesterday. She’s booked me in for a sweep at 38 weeks providing the consultant says it’s ok when I see him. See if we can get things moving without the induction 🤞🏻
X

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 07:55

@Liverpool19, hopefully it will be - mine yesterday was at 37 weeks +6 so one day shy of 38 weeks. I’m also keen to get it started naturally if possible but baby is still floating around just now - little bugger!

Liverpool19 · 02/11/2018 09:10

Is the babies head down swim? Mine is so hopefully he’s nice to me and accepts the sweep 😂 I’ll be 38+2 so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 How you feeling? X

Fox23 · 02/11/2018 09:12

@Liverpool19 and @swimchick1980 I can’t believe within next few weeks we will have two more babies!!!!! So exciting !!!!!
Ok, I’m now on my way to hospital!
Talk soon, when I’m a mum!!!! 😳😳😳

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 09:23

Amazing @Fox23!

@Liverpool19 - yes, head is down but still free so they couldn’t do it. Fingers crossed you have more luck 🤞

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 09:25

Midwife recommended pineapple - though you need to eat at least 2 a day and not the pre cut stuff. I had my first one for breakfast! That and some “passion in the bedroom” - not sure that is even logistically possible at this stage in the game.....but needs must!

emalady · 02/11/2018 11:51

@swimchick1980 good luck with the pineapple and romance!! I'm way behind you guys but I don't want to have to wait ages for the little one, DH does acupuncture so I made him buy the textbook on acupuncture in pregnancy and might get him to do the pre induction stuff when I hit 38 weeks and see if that helps!

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 12:15

@emalady, that sounds like a great plan. Money is likely to be tight for us while i’m off so I can’t really justify acupuncture but if you have an acupuncturist at home, that is perfect! Pineapple it is for me Grin

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 13:02

Can anyone recommend some good box sets/TV programmes? I’m on maternity leave now.

I’ve been watching Luther which I love but I only have 2 episodes left!

We have Now TV but not Sky. Thanks 😃

emalady · 02/11/2018 20:04

@swimchick1980 killing eve is supposed to be really good, I liked the first episode and thought I would keep it for mat leave. I also plan to catch up with the walking dead.
It is very handy to have a physio /acupuncturist at home. He is definitely more useful than I am! Only handy if he actually looks at the book though, seems to be a laptop stand at the moment 😂.

Fox23 · 02/11/2018 20:34

I had my little princess at 12.52 and she was 10lb4oz!!!!!!!!!! The biggest baby they’ve had in ages!
I had c section and all was well until they started. The feeling of pulling and tugging was sooooo painful and bad . Then we heard her first cry and it was amazing! My DH was called over to dress her and then I heard all OMGs etc because of her weight💐 and then it started to get very painful very fast, they decided to knock me out....
Apparently anaesthetic stopped working properly and I lost over 1l blood.
However, I wouldn’t change a thing if I did it all over again! The care, the staff - it was all soooo amazing!
I sent my DH home to get some sleep and I will try to get some sleep as well, whilst she is sleeping 😴

What a day. We are still no further forward really. Saw the embryonic medicine consultant today for a more in depth scan following the scan on Wednesday revealing restricted blood flow to the umbilical cord. She was furious when she found out the dr on the assessment unit had given me the steroid injections as she said they should never be given before week 34 and I’m 33 plus 4 and also the steroid would now affect her result of the scan today and it could give me a false reading. She started the scan and said the blood flow was fine but again we couldn’t rely on this due to the injections and I would have to come back Tuesday to have the blood flow measurement done again. She told me baby is weighing 4 ib 12 where’s Wednesday they said 4 15. She is now going to have me in for weekly growth scans and said she will be concerned after 34 weeks of baby is still not growing or losing weight. So I still don’t feel any further forward. They’ve told me to go straight in if I don’t feel much movement but babies position has moved and his head in low oh my pelvis and he is spine to my belly so she agreed that I will have less feeling than before but she said any worries they would rather me go in then sit at home worrying 🙈

Beherenow32 · 02/11/2018 20:42

@Fox23 congrats! So amazing that you have a very healthy baby girl 😄 sounds like you had a tough time- but done amazing. Hope you manage rest and are all home together soon xx

Janefx40 · 02/11/2018 23:18

@Barcelo18 sorry you've not had many answers yet. I suppose it is good that she hasn't seen restricted blood flow but frustrating to have been given drugs at the wrong time. I suppose if they were super worried they would give you a c section right away as you are 33+ weeks. But I'm sorry that you have another anxious few days ahead of you.

Sending love x

@Fox23 congratulations!!! And what an enormous baby!! No wonder she's been making you so uncomfy. But you sound happy despite a few hiccups so that is the main thing. And your baby girl is here.

Lots of love to you both

Xxx

@Fox23 - congratulations, such lovely news. Sounds like both you and @Aliona19 had a tough birth. Hope you are managing to rest now and it’s great to hear that you received such good care. I bet you’re glad you went with the c section as sounds you might have needed to anyway at that weight. Great to hear though, a very healthy weight.

@Barcelo18 - how frustrating you are no further forward. Fingers crossed the reading was not false and that your baby keeps growing. Good to hear you will be seen at least once a week. Take care x

Barcelo18 · 03/11/2018 05:46

Congratulations @fox23 you on the arrival of your beautiful little girl x

Liverpool19 · 03/11/2018 07:00

fox I’m so happy for you!! Congratulations, hope the pain is easing!
barcelo the growth scans can be really inaccurate depending on babies position and how far down they are. Try not to worry if they thought their was a problem you’d be taken in ASAP. X

Liverpool19 · 03/11/2018 08:16

swim killing eve, informant, Ray Donovan, suits, lillyhammer, house of cards, homeland 😂😂 gossip girl. I’m the queen of series and boxsets 😂 x

emalady · 03/11/2018 08:19

@fox23, congratulations, I'm so glad she is healthy. At that weight it's another reason to be glad of a section. Hope your pain is controlling and you recover well Mummy!
@Barcelo18 sorry you are no further forward. Its good to hear the blood flow looked good though. The weight estimate can be a bit off. Hope the next scan is OK.
So much happening on the thread this week, I really want another scan to see my daughter, nothing due until 19th December, its so far away. And that's an extra growth scan, I don't know how "normal" (on the normal reviews /scans with nothing extra) pregnancies cope with the lack of information. Or am I just a control freak?

Liverpool19 · 03/11/2018 08:27

emalady if you can book a private scan to put your mind at rest it’s nice to be able to see the baby again.

swimchick1980 · 03/11/2018 08:34

Thanks for the box set recommendations - I loved Killing Eve so I will check out the others too.

@emalady - pregnancies for those who have not gone through IVF/infertility struggles are very different. With DC1 we tried for 2 years before having her but didn’t have to do IVF and at that point i’d not had a MC. It was a very different experience - no worries and all very lovely. For all of us, it is very different. But thankfully the end result of our beautiful babies is exactly the same Grin

Beherenow32 · 03/11/2018 13:25

@swimchick1980 have you seen drifters, catastrophe or him and her? Good if you want something lighthearted/ funny. I can watch them over and over 🙊

Beherenow32 · 03/11/2018 18:41

@swimchick1980 oh and the Sinner is good. Season 2 coming out 9th of nov
Was thinking it felt like ages ago since my last scan. It was only 2 weeks ago! Pregnancy tests your patience 😅 (so did ivf tho!) x

swimchick1980 · 03/11/2018 19:28

Thanks, I love Him and Her but haven’t seen the others, so will check them out 🙂
