Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

Hello all I’m now 33 weeks + 3 and all seemed to be going pretty well up until a couple of weeks ago. I was sent for a scan as I hadn’t felt baby move much all day anyway they got him moving and sent me for a scan and did the measurements. They said he was 4 ib 13 ozs at week 31 and wanted to keep a closer eye on me as he was on the 95th centile. Anyway I went back for a scan yesterday to be told he was now only weighing 4 ib 15 ozs and had dropped to around the 50th centile and there was restricted blood flow to my umbilical cord and placenta and she would have to report this to my consultant. The consultant has put me in for a further scan on Friday and I was sent to the maternity Assessment ward for monitoring and a steroid injection. I have to go back today for a further injection and will now be monitored on a daily basis and have been told to go in if I don’t feel baby move. They have told me to prepare for the baby to come at any time through a c section. I’m just beside myself with worry now and wander if anyone has any experience of this.

Good luck to all those expecting the arrival of their little ones in the upcoming days x

Aliona19 · 01/11/2018 06:18

On my way to hospital now 😱 Thank you for well wishing girls 😘
@Barcelo18 I am so sorry you have all this worries at the minute, but stay strong for your little one. The good thing-they have noticed something is happening and now will do everything to help your baby. Massive hugs to you xxx

Janefx40 · 01/11/2018 07:13

@Barcelo18 this happened to my Mum albeit 43 years ago with my brother. They didn't scan them much then so didn't find out until he was born. He was born small and had to go in the incubator for a week and then have extra careful feeding but is fine. No side effects at all. Hopefully this will be the same for you.

Let us know what happens on Friday. Sending love xxx

Best of luck @Aliona19. So exciting that you meet your baby today.

@Barcelo18 - what a worry for you but it is good they are monitoring you so closely. I’m sure they won’t take any chances and even if your baby is born very soon, he/she is still a good weight. Take care and I’ll keep my fingers crossed the injections help and your baby keeps cooking as long as possible Flowers

Liverpool19 · 01/11/2018 13:11

barcelo that’s a really good weight for your baby at 31 weeks. I had a scan at 33 weeks and mine weighed 4lb then so If he does have to come early he will be ok the doctors and nurses know what they are doing. Fingers crossed he can stay cooking a little longer. I can’t really say much else as I don’t have any experience with this. X

Beherenow32 · 01/11/2018 13:17

@Aliona19 sending lots of love! Xx

Fox23 · 01/11/2018 14:20

@Barcelo18 girls are right, doctors and nurses know what they are doing. The main thing was you spotting the issue and acting on it immediately.
I’m feeling very tender today and I just hope that it’s not early labour. I read instructions for all Tommee Tippee stuff and figured out our pram and car seat. Now I’m just waiting...

Liverpool19 · 01/11/2018 17:29

fox I’ve been sore for the last two weeks. My underneath hurts. My back hurts everything hurts. Not long for you now 💪🏼 Xx

Janefx40 · 01/11/2018 21:05

@Fox23 good luck tomorrow!!! Big day. So exciting. Xxx

Not easy to write with one hand, @Fox23 good luck girl xxxx my princess is here. Wasn’t easy, lost 2.5 l of blood and they were worried. Also was throwing up during surgery (( 🤦🏻‍♀️ Feel better now, as long as she ok x love to all

Fox23 · 02/11/2018 04:29

@Aliona19 omg! Congratulations!!!! It must be the most beautiful moment ever! Sorry to hear that you lost blood, but as long as you are both doing well now, that’s all that matters!
Are you going to be on different thread from now? Let me know if you are. But I will stay on here as well. I feel like we are a family 💐

I have been awake since 3am. I only have to be at the hospital for 10am, but just couldn’t sleep. They have 2 ops scheduled before me, so I was told that my turn will be about 12-ish.
I’m soooooo scared!!! And excited!!!!!!!

Aliona19 · 02/11/2018 05:49

@Fox23 I wish I could sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️ Pain is unreal. But don’t worry, it’s all coz of my placenta, u will be just fine. Actual section is fine, and all this stories about pulling weren’t real for me. You feel it but it’s not unpleasant. After is sore, but what can you do xx Also contractions during breastfeeding or when baby is crying are hell for me 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I also asked to lower the screen during section, was nice to see her being born xx u will be ok, not long now till cuddles ❤️

Fox23 · 02/11/2018 06:03

@Aliona19 just took my morning pill and now I’ll try and get an hour or so sleep... I’m so happy for you! You are a mum! How exciting! 😁😁😁😁
I don’t think I will even contemplate to lower the screen... it’s just not for me. But regarding being sick during the op... that’s my concern as well, as lately every time I lay doti want to throw up 🤮
What time was your princess born?

Aliona19 · 02/11/2018 06:10

Being sick bcoz of pressure dropping due to blood loss, u may not have it. Anyway, they give something if you feel sick. Comes and goes. Don’t think about it, not the worst part 😅was born at 10.34.. made me starve till like late night 😭😭 brutal. And now I am being eaten by my pink pooping crying chunk 😁

Janefx40 · 02/11/2018 06:46

@Aliona19 congrats. I can't believe she is here. Sorry you are in pain . It seems birth hurts us one way or another, c-section or natural!

But you've done it. You have your baby. What a journey and well done you.

@Fox23 not long now and this will be you. Sending love xxxx

Congratulations &aliona19, what wonderful news that you finally gave your baby in your arms.
@fox23 good luck for today and it won’t be long until you too have your little bundle of joy x

Aliona19 · 02/11/2018 06:55

@Janefx40 I know right? Not long time ago we were worrying about bfp and look, so many of us made it 😍😍😍😍 had some lovely Midwife’s here but one nurse 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Wanted to punch her. All she was saying to me “just don’t take her outside when u go home!! Never take her outside! My friend took baby out and baby didn’t make it to day 7! Keep her warm indoors only “ 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Woman has no brains to speak like that.
Feel useless as hurts like hell to get up and nurses keep changing her and I feel stupid 😖

emalady · 02/11/2018 06:59

Good luck today @fox23! Hope you managed to get a little bit of sleep before heading in to the hospital!
Congratulations @aliona19! Sorry to hear about the blood loss and pain. Glad your little girl is here safe and sound. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
It's so exciting, makes it seem much sooner now there are babies!!

swimchick1980 · 02/11/2018 07:27

Congratulations @Aliona19, such wonderful news. Sounds tough going though, hope you recover quickly.

@Fox23, good luck today and can not wait to hear of the safe arrival of your little bundle.

2 babies in 2 days!

I went to the hospital yesterday to try and get a sweep but the baby’s head wasn’t engaged so I will try again next week. Fingers crossed.....
