Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

Well ladies, I know I only posted on here for the first time recently but have been following this thread since it started in the Infertility forum.

Our little girl took us all by surprise yesterday and arrived by csection at 34+5!! My waters broke and I started contractions but she was breech so along with her being so early they whipped her out the sunroof😁.

She was with us for 2 hours but they’ve taken her up to the neonatal unit for monitoring, so currently sitting here on postnatal listening to everyone’s babies crying and feeling a bit sorry for myself.

it was such a shock but the most Incredible experience!

Liverpool19 · 04/11/2018 08:25

Wow congratulations mindatwork what did she weigh? She’ll be back with you in no time!! It’s defiantly true what they say, they come when they want 😂 hope your not too sore. X

Janefx40 · 04/11/2018 08:38

Congrats @MindatWork sorry you were feeling a bit down in the night but as you said, super thrilling to have your girl. Hope you get her back with you soon.

So now we have 4 babies on this thread and 3 in a week!!!

X

@mindatwork congratulations on the new arrival, hope you get to spend morel time with her soon.

swimchick1980 · 04/11/2018 09:43

Congratulations @MindatWork. Hope you get your girl back soon for cuddles.

So much excitement- and so many girls!

MindatWork · 04/11/2018 18:28

Thank you everyone - feeling much better today, the consultant was pleased with her progress this morning, I’ve had lots of skin to skin all day and have been hand expressing colostrum so feel like I’m doing my bit.

She was 6lb which we’re now v relieved about (having been worried about the possibility of me having GD last week because she was measuring so big!)

Liverpool19 · 04/11/2018 19:34

That’s an amazing weight!! Glad you are both doing well. X

Barcelo18 · 05/11/2018 05:35

All these beautiful little miracles arriving now 💕Congratulations Mind@Work.

Liverpool19 · 05/11/2018 16:39

We’ve just put the Moses basket up, the next to me, the bouncer and got the steriliser and bottles out. I say we. I sat on the floor sorting the presents out from my baby shower 😂

Janefx40 · 05/11/2018 17:06

@Liverpool19 nice!! What did you do for your shower?

OP posts:
Beherenow32 · 05/11/2018 17:54

@Liverpool19 good job! And lovely moment opening the presents 😊 how many weeks are you again? I keep having little panics about getting organised lol xx

Liverpool19 · 05/11/2018 17:55

jane My friends just arranged a meal with them and my family. I’m not one for fuss so it was lovely. He got so much stuff and there’s still more coming from people who couldn’t make it 😳 I don’t even have to take anything back which I’m shocked at 😂

Liverpool19 · 05/11/2018 17:57

beherenow I’m 36+2 I have a sweep at 38+2 hopefully. But my mum had me at 35 weeks and my neice was born at 37 😂 so thought it best to be organised.

Beherenow32 · 05/11/2018 18:17

@Liverpool19 that sounds like something I would prefer. A small gathering.
That’s fair enough! I’m just coming up for 22 weeks- so it makes sense for you to be preparing everything now!! Xx

swimchick1980 · 05/11/2018 19:44

That sounds lovely @Liverpool19. You sound organised.

I’m in Scotland and got my baby box this week, very exciting! I think I am more or less there as have washed most of the baby clothes, have a Moses basket, pram and car seat. I have still to put them up but that shouldn’t take long at all. Also need to put my stuff into my hospital bag and then that’s me! Fingers crossed not much longer or I may struggle to leave the house as won’t be able to fit through the door Grin

Beherenow32 · 05/11/2018 20:03

@swimchick1980 I’m in Scotland too, so will get the baby box. Sounds like such a nice thing to get.

Need to keep an eye everyone’s posts to see what I should actually be doing/ buying 😅 xx

swimchick1980 · 05/11/2018 20:13

@Beherenow32 - it’s great. It’s got lovely wee clothes and a few toys, as well as helpful things like ear thermometer, a couple of muslins, blankets and bath thermometer.

Beherenow32 · 05/11/2018 20:21

@swimchick1980 sounds fab! So exciting x

Liverpool19 · 05/11/2018 21:20

That’s really good. We get nothing like that in Liverpool. Unless I’m just not entitled to it! My suitcase for hospital is packed, I’ve got a little cabin one. I’m thinking I’ve packed too much stuff for the baby and not enough for me 😂
I washed everything a few weeks ago. I’m just going to leave the bottles until after the midwife has done my sweep as they don’t take long to do. I’ve got 9 days left in work looking forward to finishing now. I think I have everything sorted if not I’m sure my mum will run out and get stuff 😂 it’s all coming round very fast!

Janefx40 · 05/11/2018 22:45

@Liverpool19 sounds like you are ready.

@Beherenow32 and @swimchick1980 I want to live in Scotland. It's so lovely that they've started doing baby boxes!!!

@Barcelo18 good luck for the scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on

Xxx

Goodluck barcelo
I got up this morning with a horrific cold. I got one just as I found out I was pregnant and now I’m nearing the end is it a sign 😂🙈 x

Barcelo18 · 06/11/2018 16:48

So still no further forward today . Didn’t see the consultant today just the sonographer for a scan to check the blood flow which is showing as fine but she said the steroids will still be in my system and fridays scan will hopefully give us the true result. She said that the consultant will do the dopplers and growth scan on Friday but at the moment he seems to be ok in there but once the steroids have worn off it may be that they decide he’s better off out than in, so still no definite answers which I’m gutted about as I really thought that we would know today and I would be able to rest mentally a little knowing he’s ok. I am reassured that he must be otherwise they would have had him out by now x

Liverpool19 · 06/11/2018 18:10

Exactly barcelo if there was any sort of concern about him he would be out right now. So hopefully that thought eases your mind a little bit. X

Janefx40 · 06/11/2018 23:38

@Barcelo18 gutting to be no clearer after so much stress already. Even tho it may be caused by the steroids it is surely good that the baby currently has enough blood flow. So he's ok thus far. I agree with you that they would have him straight out if they weren't sure especially as you have got past 34 weeks. My friends twins were born at a similar weight to your baby currently.

Bring on Friday! Hope you find a way to keep sane until then xxx

@Barcelo18 sorry to hear you don't know any more but really good that the blood flow looks OK. Good luck for Friday.
