Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

Today we ended up going to hospital for a fetal movement check. Baby was moving less than normal and by 1pm I had decided that I just can’t ignore it. We got there and everybody was so nice! I was hooked up to monitors for about 40 min. And in about 15 min my baby discovered the rules of the game- if she kicks mummy, her heart rate increases to above 170 and she gets a beep! In about 30 min she was kicking me so much I promise I could hear her giggle. And by 40min I was told that all is good 😁😁😁.
Back tomorrow for obstetrician consultation at 10am. 🤞I get a date for elective.

Now watching strictly and singing along to Backstreet Boys 🤭🤭🤭

@fox23 glad everything was OK and she seems to have a sense of humour already!!

I had a bit of a step back today and vomited on the way to the gym. Decided against exercise in the end. Hopefully it was a one off and it's not going to continue the whole way through.

beanhunter · 14/10/2018 21:32

In finding this in between stage hard. No bump. Sickness and sore boobs better. No symptoms. How do I know it hasn’t all gone wrong (14 weeks on weds).

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 07:44

beanhunter my friend is at the same stage as you and is exactly the same don’t worry it’s completely normal.
fox glad everything is ok and goodluck today. X

Fox23 · 15/10/2018 08:56

@beanhunter I agree with @Liverpool19, it’s absolutely normal. I had a chat with my stepdaughter over the weekend about the whole pregnancy. And we spoke about the same thing- 1st trimester is all so new, so exciting, so full of symptoms and so worrisome when you literally count hours to “safe” week 12.
Then comes 2nd and nothing is happening! Symptoms disappear, not many doctor appointments for assurances, nothing showing and lasts forever-very uneventful in general.
3rd... yes, third, so so tiresome, and it goes sooooo quick!
Yesterday I was 37 weeks- officially full early term! Seems like only few weeks ago I found out gender, now I’m few weeks (max) away from actually meeting her!

Fox23 · 15/10/2018 11:31

Ok, just got back from hospital and regarding my elective c section I have a go ahead! 😁😁😁😁 this week I’m getting a phone call regarding a date. My baby will be born w/c 28th October!!!!
I’m so so so excited and so so scared!!!

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 11:42

fox ahhhh so exciting!! Not long for you now!! X

emalady · 15/10/2018 13:39

@fox23 that's great, so excited for you!
@beanhunter I felt pretty much the same except every couple of weeks my vomiting came back, I was really lucky and have access to extra scans for reassurance but it is really normal.
I keep having nightmares that I've miscarried and / or my husband is leaving me. He is wonderfully supportive. Will be nice when whatever hormonal mental weirdness is causing this has settled down.

Beherenow32 · 15/10/2018 13:48

Congrats @fox23 😁
I’ve been in quite a bit of pain today. Like period pain/ stictch. Nearly phoned the midwife earlier.
Most of you will be graduating from this thread soon, with your babies! Xx

Beherenow32 · 15/10/2018 13:48

That’s meant to say stitch

Janefx40 · 15/10/2018 14:14

@Fox23 Great news. A baby in 2 weeks!!! Amazing. You're going to be a Mum!

@Beherenow32 I've found period type pains/stitch happens every few weeks or so. I think it is when my belly grows a bit. For some reason I don't seem to grow evenly but get this pain from time to time. It's not signalled anything wrong as yet.

@beanhunter it is really hard. I'm not sure what the right thing to say is other than that it is normal to feel that way. We just have to cross our fingers and hope that all will be well.

I'm off to meet my new consultant in an hour. Never been to this hospital before so leaving plenty of time. Excited but also nervous in case they don't offer me the same level of care I was getting at my previous hospital
Xxx

@Janefx40 good luck!! I’m sure they will be as nice 👍

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 14:34

beanhunter I’ve had a stitch on and off down my left side since 8 weeks. It’s just your insides stretching! In fact I’ve got it today!
jane goodluck. I am sure they will be really good. X

Beherenow32 · 15/10/2018 15:45

@Janefx40 yeah, I knew it was just stretching. For a while it got unbearable. Also think that round ligament pain has started! But I’m happy if baby is growing.
Good luck at new hospital. I’m sure it will be ok! Xx

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 17:51

Just back from scan, everything is fine 👌🏻 Baby is measuring 4lb and head is still down 👏🏻 She said everything is completely normal I’m measuring jusy under the 50th centile

Fox23 · 15/10/2018 18:12

@Liverpool19 that’s amazing! I’m so very happy for you! Did they say where the placenta is?

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 19:18

Exactly where it was on my 20 week scan fox so god knows what the private scan person was looking at 🤷🏼‍♀️ X

Fox23 · 15/10/2018 20:02

@Liverpool19 considering how close you are to due date, this is now one less problem/stress to deal with! I’m so so happy for you! You can relax abit now 😊

emalady · 15/10/2018 20:08

@liverpool19 I'm glad everything is fine, wonder what the private scan was seeing!!
I've had a dull low belly pain pretty much the whole time. I was really worried about an abruption but scans have all been OK. Still feels tender though, very strange.

Liverpool19 · 15/10/2018 20:35

I know fox just need to get my induction date now 🙈 god knows what was seen on the other scan but it’s on my pictures 🤷🏼‍♀️ Actually looks like something is sitting on his head!
emalady if your scans are clear try not to worry. It literally could jusy be because of the extra pressure that’s now there. People don’t tell you about these extra little niggles we feel! X

swimchick1980 · 16/10/2018 08:24

Great news @Fox23 and @Liverpool19.

Hope your appointment went well @Janefx40.

@beanhunter, it is a difficult stage but it does get better as you start to feel more movement in the coming weeks and see more visible signs. Hang in there, i’m sure you’ll be fine - i’m not going to see don’t worry, as I know it is all worrying and I felt exactly the same.

Fox23 · 16/10/2018 12:43

OMG! I know the date!!!! 2nd November!!!! (Of course unless my dear daughter has other ideas...)

Janefx40 · 16/10/2018 13:44

@Liverpool19 great news about the scan. Sounds like everything is on track and a big relief about the placenta.

I had a fairly good trip to my new hospital yesterday. I had a long wait but they were nice and I have been offered the same scans I was due in London (they don't usually do a 28 week but agreed to anyway).

I've mentioned before that I am huge...she measured me and I am off the scale. Way above the 95th percentile. So feeling a bit mixed about that - is it worrying or just embarrassing. Not sure. I've never been big so it's a new experience. She said they don't usually measure until 28 weeks so they're not worried. Still tho!

Love to all xxx

emalady · 16/10/2018 15:05

@fox23 that's so exciting and so soon!!!
@janefx40 glad you will be getting the same care. How many weeks are you now? Presumably when they do the scan they will check your baby and fluid levels and check if there is anything worrying. Hope it's all OK.
@liverpool19 thanks for the reassurance. I'm sure it's all ok but can't help but worry. It would also be nice to be comfortable for just a little bit before the third trimester and getting even bigger!

Fox23 · 16/10/2018 16:18

@Janefx40 I suppose if the size was something you should be worried about you would have been told or given instructions on what to do.
My daughter also got above average after 20week scan, not sure about the % but she did measure at 41w at 36w scan.
And yes, totally agree about being confusing on how to feel about this! I keep blaming myself but consultants never seemed worried. Now I just keep telling myself that as long as she is healthy I’m ok.
