Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

I understand where they are coming from and I know it’s all about money but in the long run of the 4d is correct and I do have it, it will cost them a lot more as it could result in an emergency section and blood transfusion, longer stay in hospital etc. So this is the cheaper option!
Yeah don’t stress everyone is different, I think it depends on the size of the baby aswell, where they are laying and if they are lazy or not 😂

Janefx40 · 11/10/2018 18:28

@emalady I left the January group almost immediately because I just felt it was a different experience having got here the hard way. Also the January lot immediately set up a FB group instead which is great but I didn't really fancy that before I had got to know people. As soon as someone new joined they went off to join that other group. It kind of killed the thread which was a shame. It may be back running now with new people. I've not checked for a while.

@Liverpool19 I just think they should take any concern seriously. It doesn't cost them much to scan you. They drum it into us that if we feel concerned or strange or have reduced movement we should go straight in. Don't worry about wasting time - we want to see you etc etc. Then they ignore another professional because it's private!! If you went in and said, you felt like your placenta was hanging out, it was really uncomfortable etc they'd probably scan you! Anyway not to worry - it sounds like you have made them take some notice x

That’s exactly the coversation I had with my friend today jane I have a scan Monday afternoon so hopefully it’s going to be the end of this one way or another! X

emalady · 11/10/2018 21:07

@janefx40 that's interesting about the January group, February have a Facebook group but the thread is still pretty active. I quite like being able to say things and ask questions without it coming back to me in "real life". I also quite like Facebook not being overly baby dominated. It may happen sometime but not yet!!
@liverpool19 glad you are having a scan. Hope it all goes well.
Work on the kitchen starts Monday, very exciting but need to get things a bit more sorted before then.

Fox23 · 11/10/2018 21:52

Best day ever- my DH brought home 2 massive black bags FULL of baby clothes newborn to 12-18months!!! I mean- it literally took me over an hour to just take out all the stuff!
Problem- I have way too many newborn and up to 1 month stuff now! I suppose there are worse problems to have. Im so exciting to crack on with washing and sorting it all tomorrow.... I’m like a kid in Christmas 🎄😆😆😆😆

Fox23 · 11/10/2018 21:53

I forgot to mention- it’s his work colleague who was happy to give us all that lot.

Blondienut · 11/10/2018 21:57

Hello all , had my 20 week scan today and final feel I can relax and enjoy this precious pregnancy. Time to start shopping! Thank you for the reassurance a few days ago when I was anxious

Fox23 · 11/10/2018 22:22

@Blondienut congratulations! Such a good news!!!! Now let the shopping fun begin 😁😁😁

emalady · 12/10/2018 07:12

@fox23 that's great! Awesome to get lots for free. Frees up some cash for other bits.

@blondienut congratulations! Glad to hear all was ok and you are relaxing a bit.

Janefx40 · 12/10/2018 08:16

So had a slightly better few days with less sickness and exhaustion. Final scan with miscarriage clinic was yesterday and now over 13 weeks so have just told our daughter today.

emalady · 12/10/2018 15:07

@beanhunter excellent news!

Anyone else finding work is annoyingly getting in the way of mumsnet / baby shopping / research? Just realised I was on the nappy lady website for 45 minutes and now running late. Oops. Maybe I should start mat leave before 38 weeks!!

Janefx40 · 12/10/2018 16:32

@emalady YES! I just want to sort the house and get ready for the baby. Why do these people keep trying to make me do work!

@beanhunter good news. Lovely to be able to tell your daughter too x

blondienut beanhunter brilliant news for you both!!
I’ve started experiencing like period pain type cramps the last couple of days. On and off but enough for me to notice that they are there! They are quite low down. Apparently this could be his head engaging or him just moving lower 🤷🏼‍♀️ X

Fox23 · 12/10/2018 19:49

@Liverpool19 could be sooo many things! Did you call Triage? Or your midwife?

Liverpool19 · 12/10/2018 20:20

No fox I keep forgetting because it goes 😂 as quick as it came. Then I won’t have any for like 5 hours. I have my scan Monday so will ask them I’ll write down questions I want to ask 😂 x

Fox23 · 12/10/2018 20:39

@Liverpool19 good idea about writing down questions! I gave consultant appointment on Monday and my note to remember? When I had my Tuesday appointment this week, consultant asked me to have blood test for iron on my way out... I forgot!!!!! Only remembered yesterday!!!!
Baby brain!
Now I have list of questions as I do not trust myself to remember anything😆
What time is your appointment?

Liverpool19 · 12/10/2018 21:37

I have to go back Friday for another blood count to check my iron and see if the tablets are working! I have physio in work (I get free massages) 😂 and the first thing she said to me today was “wow you look pale” so I’m assuming the tablets aren’t that great 😂 scan is 4pm so will have my flu jab, hospital, then bloods the end of the week and a couple of other bits in between on other days busy week coming up. I’m tired thinking of it. X

Fox23 · 12/10/2018 22:01

@Liverpool19 crazy how the closer to due date you are the more appointments you have! Same here, consultant Monday at 10(🤞I get the date), flu jab on Tuesday, antenatal class Thursday and midwife also Thursday .
Hopefully your blood tests come back good. It’s possible you were just tired when you had your massage (wow, getting massage! Lucky you!)

Janefx40 · 12/10/2018 22:51

@Liverpool19 it could be Braxton Hicks. I was just reading about it as I've got period type cramps which has been worrying. Mine does not sound like Braxton Hicks but yours does.

X

fox I had really bad back pain around 22 weeks and work sent me to see her and she’s kept seeing me so it’s lovely 😂
jane yes I read about them, I’ve also had my belly tightening and stop again for weeks now!

Fox23 · 13/10/2018 09:21

@Liverpool19 lucky you to get massages! It’s rubbish when you have back pain (with my mild scoliosis, on rare occasions I can’t even walk).
I didn’t even know I have been having Braxton Hicks until about week ago. Not painful just tightening just as you described.
I think what you have is round ligament pain. It has been described as cramping feeling for some, including my midwife who said that cramp feeling may be just that.
But to be honest I still don’t understand all these pregnancy signs! 🤔

swimchick1980 · 14/10/2018 08:13

Hello everyone - it’s so lovely to hear all your chat. Congratulations to everyone who has had good scan results recently, it’s such a relief! My phone has been broken so i’ve been off MN for a while.

I’m 36 weeks on Friday. Totally disorganised but I finish up at work in a couple of weeks. The babies need so little at the start so I’m sure we’ll be fine. I’m picking up our at seat today and we have a buggy, Moses basket, some clothes and just need to buy some nappies. I can’t wait to look the clothes out and wash them all though i’m a bit sad it’s likely to be impossible to get them outside to dry as the weather is so awful!

For breastfeeding I would definitely recommend Lasinoh if you can (not so good if you are allergic but hopefully your midwife will be able to recommend an alternative). There is a really good website called Kelly Mom which has tutorials - I used this as DC1 was feeding ok but latch wasn’t deep enough so was very sore for me at the start! I expressed too when I could as it gave me more freedom - I used the Medela Swing. Bottle wise I just used Tommy Tippee.

Exciting times ahead for us all!!

emalady · 14/10/2018 09:24

@swimchick1980 very exciting times! Hope the last couple of weeks at work are OK.
If anyone is interested in reusable nappies and isn't in too much of a rush bambino mio on amazon had a set of nappies for £23 instead of & 110 if you can wait until December for delivery!!

Janefx40 · 14/10/2018 19:24

@swimchick1980 lovely to hear from you! 36 weeks - amazing. Thanks for the tip re expressing. I was looking for a starting place so will have a look at the Medella Swing first.

@emalady thanks for the Amazon tip. I'm probably going for disposable but good to know where to look if we change our minds.

Hope you're feeling better @Liverpool19

Xxx
