Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

Exactly if the placenta is where I’ve been told it is there is no way he will come out as he can’t! Good luck for your consultation 🤞🏻🤞🏻 My midwife said that the consultant I am seeing is really good so hopefully I have some good news! X

Beherenow32 · 08/10/2018 09:55

@Liverpool19 hope all gets sorted. I was told at my private scan that I have a low lying placenta, but I’m still early on, so that could change. Nhs scan is next week.

Not done great at following thread but hope everyone doing ok! I’m feeling very pregnant today lol. Sore, tired, emotional! Xx

Liverpool19 · 08/10/2018 11:35

Hopefully yours changes beherenow mine was “left lateral” at my 20 week scan. Then my private one at 30 weeks she was saying it’s really low and have I been told about it before. So I told her what my notes said and it was like she thought I was lying 🤷🏼‍♀️ Whole thing is getting on my nerves now 😂

Janefx40 · 08/10/2018 15:37

@Liverpool19 ah that's frustrating! Hopefully the consultant will listen to you this week.

So if we are lucky both @Liverpool19 and @Fox23 will have their c sections and possibly dates confirmed tomorrow. Eek.

This thread is going to be full of babies quite soon.

I know it seems a long way off for those of you just past12 weeks (and to me too at 25 weeks!) but it's good to know some of us have nearly arrived...

Xxx

It's so exciting there may be babies on the thread soon. February seems so far away. Already had someone ask me when we are planning to try for number 2?! 😂 Let's get this one out successfully first.
I'm definitely more emotional, occasional odd tears at work. I'm also yawning and hiccuping lots, assuming my diaphragm is a bit confused.
Made it to aqua aerobics for the first time today. The sensation of bump and belly jiggling in the water is very strange.

Fox23 · 08/10/2018 20:54

@emalady I can’t believe asking about baby nr 2 already!! 😁 well done on water aerobics! That’s more exercise than I have done in last 3 years all together 😂😂😂

But... talking about more babies... this subject actually has come up between me and my DH. The reason is- we have two Frosties in the freezer. How can we leave them there? I know we need to get through this pregnancy first, but I just can’t forget my frosties...
I’m mad, right?

emalady · 09/10/2018 07:31

@fox23 frosties is so cute, I've been referring to them as spares which seems a bit mean. I think we have decided with 3 in the freezer we probably will see what happens with them and probably not go through another full round. Not sure what we will do if we don't need all of them. It's a bit of a strange thought. Possibly more upsetting due to hormones!!
We are looking at pushchairs and travel systems today. The aim is to decide what we like so we can look for it cheaper. Quite excited. Did you all have a push on ones before you decided?

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 08:22

We also have 3 in the freezer, we’ve said we will go again when this one is nearly 2 and see what happens.
Ive made it to 32 weeks and decided now might be the time to stop the gym. Proud of myself for going this long.
emalady no I didn’t go into shops to have a push. A few people I know have silver cross prams and I knew it was the one I wanted so I just ordered mine on line.
X

Fox23 · 09/10/2018 08:30

@emalady we bought silver cross Brompton exclusive to mothercare. They did a deal where when you buy pram you get car seat for free. Besides when you attend their parent event (I actually very much enjoyed it) you get additional 15% off. It worked out very good price for amazing product.
I was I think 12 weeks something when we ordered it.... very early, I know...

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 09:18

I got the silver cross waferer, it was £750 for everything, carrycot part, seat, car seat and all the accessories including a bag and pram covers. So I ordered another car seat so we have two save messing around from car to car! I ordered that when I was 16 weeks as it was on offer. I went on a few days later and it was gone 😳 so it was faye

Janefx40 · 09/10/2018 10:48

That's a great deal @Liverpool19 !

A friend gave us a cot last night and says they have a bugga boo stroller we can have. We'll have a look and decide. The neighbour came out to say she had a spare bouncer. We went to an NCT sale and picked up a few bits including a Baby Bjorn. We've also been gifted a Moses basket, muslins and loads of clothes. So I'm feeling pretty prepared without really buying anything.

We will still need car seat, possibly buggy and monitors and side along crib thing but am feeling like suddenly we are quite prepared.

Good luck for appointments today x

@Liverpool19 yep, sounds about the sane that we got, minus the bag and cover.
So, just got back from ultrasound. How silly they booked obstetric at 2pm... so I’m back at home...
They did all the measurements and she is on the big side. It’s apparently the increase on last scan she was concerned about. Referred me to day ward. I panicked so much! They looked at the charts, shrugged shoulders on why I was referred and especially when I told them about obstetric visit scheduled this afternoon they signed me out. All within 5min
Will see what obstetrician say later on 🤞

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 13:17

Oh how silly is that fox goodluck for later. Let us know x

Fox23 · 09/10/2018 15:00

So I’m back. Baby is absolutely fine and normal. There was no need to panic, 😅
Then I saw obstetrician- she said there was nothing in my note on me wanting elective c section! How ridiculous!
Because of that she said that although she had nothing against it, she needs me to see another consultant to discuss pro’s and con’s, in case she missed anything (booked for next Mobday). So so silly but I understand they need to cover themselves should anything go wrong.
Then she said the date would be about week before due date.
That means that I may meet my little daughter not next week, but the week after !!! How scary is that????
xxx

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 15:18

Good news fox I really hate the way the panic you!
Oh that’s so so exciting!!

emalady · 09/10/2018 17:26

@liverpool19 and @fox23 we just had a look and think we are going to go for a silver Cross as well. Really like the pioneer and they are selling off a discontinued colour for £895 including car seat and isofix base. Plus MIL has offered to get it for us, so... Free!!

@fox23 it's great all is ok but how annoying you have to go back again to have presumably the same conversation. Good luck with it. So exciting you might be meeting your little one so soon!!!

Beherenow32 · 09/10/2018 17:44

@Fox23 so exciting! I remember we were on the same IVF threads together and now you’re here. It’s amazing ❤️

I had a little look at buggies, and like the Egg. Expensive though!
X

Janefx40 · 09/10/2018 19:40

@Fox23 I can't believe your baby is coming in 2 weeks!!! This is crazy stuff...

I'm going to check out all these suggested buggies. You guys are saving me so many hours of research!!!

@Janefx40 and @Beherenow32 strange that this morning I thought about the same! On how last year this time we were going through so much heart ache that we never thought we would be here!
@Liverpool19 when is your scan?
@emalady that sounds like a good deal! Agree, silly to go back and go through the same stuff but it’s another step closer!

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 20:29

emalady my mum has bought our pram, high chair, bath, so we’ve been really lucky. We’ve bought our two cribs, monitors, bottles, steriliser, bottle prep machine bouncer 😂.
I’ve put all his clothes in size order and hung them up, washed all his baby grows, vests, bedding and sleep grobags.
fox I see the consultant in the morning. Hoping he will scan me. I’m not moving until he does! X

Fox23 · 09/10/2018 20:51

@Liverpool19 agree! Don’t.move.👍
You just have to know!

Regarding subject we spoke about awhile ago-flu jab. You can have it anytime during pregnancy and my obstetrician said it’s very very strongly advanced that we get it. Apparently pregnant women are at higher risk. And few years ago quite a few women died from flu!! So now they advise to get jab. I’m booking mine tomorrow.

Liverpool19 · 09/10/2018 21:00

fox my midwife has not stopped going on about it to me. I’m booked in for Monday. I normally don’t get them even when work try and give us them but the year I want one, they aren’t doing it. So Ive booked my own. After my reaction to the whooping cough I’m not looking forward to this 🙈🙈 x

Beherenow32 · 09/10/2018 21:22

I have my flu jab and whooping cough both next week.
@Liverpool19 I’ve heard the whooping cough leaves your arm really painful? Worried as I have to go back to work after 🙈 x

Fox23 · 09/10/2018 21:24

@Beherenow32 for me whooping cough jab didn’t leave any bruises or hurt my arm, but... I did feel like I have nasty bruise. You know, it hurts when you press it. I suppose I was lucky judging by other experiences

Janefx40 · 09/10/2018 21:41

@Beherenow32 my whooping cough jab didn't cause many problems. Slightly stiff arm but I barely noticed really. So you might be fine.

@Liverpool19 Yes you just have to insist. I've no idea why they wouldn't take a scan seriously even if it was private. Good luck x
