Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

street great news about the meds!

behere stretching is normal! X

Street80 · 25/09/2018 15:28

Thank you both!!

@Beherenow32 How exciting!!!! Even though I understand the nerves! Scans always bring back tones of questions but I'm sure everything will be alright!! Just a lot of joy and happy tears!!! :) Plus you will have new pics to add to the collection! ;)

Oh! I wanted to ask. Do any of you have any book recommandation? About pregnancy/labour/new born? There are a lot to choose from and don't really know which one to pick!! Thanks!!!

swimchick1980 · 25/09/2018 17:22

Great news about the meds street.

Good luck for your scans behere and Liverpool.

Today I have properly started to waddle!! My hips are starting to struggle under the pressure of the enormous weight, eek!! 7 weeks to go - that’s a lot of waddling!!

Fox23 · 25/09/2018 19:13

Evening all,
@Street80 glad to hear about the meds! Massive milestone !
@swimchick1980 congratulations on reaching waddle stage 😆
I’m now Week 34+2 and I can honestly say every EVERY day brings new challenges! From waddling to aches and pains and nausea and swelling... last few days have brought such a upper back pain that it feels like my kidneys have been beaten up. My Carpal tunnel syndrome makes my fingers so painful and swollen I had to take even my wedding ring off and the worst-... my feet are bigger!!!!! I pray it’s swelling... I’ve heard that many women have their feet size change and never go back- I’m scared!
Did I mention need of going to toilet every time I stand up, turn over or blink? Oh and I’m the same size as grown up hippo 😫😫😫
Seriously this was all fun up until few weeks ago, no I’m desperate for this to end. It’s very though.

Janefx40 · 26/09/2018 18:25

I'm sorry @Fox23 that you are feeling so miserable. Do you have a date yet for your c section?

@Street80 congrats on being med free

@Liverpool19 how are you feeling? Did you have the extra scan yet?

@Beherenow32 I find that stretching/cramping comes and goes. I get it for a few days then it goes away for a few weeks. I think I must expand in bursts rather than steadily.

@emalady I wouldn't say I talk to the bump, more that I make the odd comment like "oh you're having a good kick" or "what's going on in there?"!!! I did try playing her music because my brother said that used to make my niece move. But nothing!!

I had a lot of scans personally! 6 weeks at early pregnancy unit (panic induced), 7 weeks at clinic, 9 weeks at early pregnancy (follow up), 10 weeks for harmony test, 12 weeks general, 15 weeks private, 20 weeks anomaly!!! So I am scantastic. Paid for 2, 5 on the NHS.

Not long to go fox people keep telling me it’s all worth while I’m like really 🤔😂 any of you ladies who are quite far along feel like you having rubbing feeling really low down in your privates? Like on the side? Or is this just my very low placenta giving me grief.
X

Liverpool19 · 26/09/2018 19:09

Hi jane not yet. My midwife said I will get a letter in the post. It is normally 32/34 weeks they scan again with this. If I haven’t heard by next Thursday when I see her again I will get her to chase it up. How you feeling? X

Janefx40 · 26/09/2018 23:09

I'm ok thanks @Liverpool19 generally fine. Keep clashing with DP because of his inability to make a decision about any furniture buying. So we just go to shops and he says no to everything and then forgets about it. Massively underestimating my need to build a home for this baby.

But other than that am ok

@Street80 congratulations on being med free, its lovely to feel more "normal".
Thanks everyone for reassurance not everyone is reading bump bedtime stories or singing daily.
@janefx40 that sounds a bit stressful. I hope you manage to get sorted enough.

Street80 · 27/09/2018 12:17

Thank you everyone!!! I feel a bit more energy coming my way since I stop the steroids so that's good!

@janefx40 oh that's sound frustrating... Getting ready for us, I think, is a way of handling the stress that we know will come with having a new born at home. Maybe he's having a hard time actually picturing his soon to be reality... Mine is the same... I'm still early so I'm letting him be for now but I intend to push it a bit further down the line..

@Liverpool19 I hope you are doing ok and that you will receive your scan date very soon.

@Fox23 omg... I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time at the moment. You are almost there though!!! I'm going to activate my cheerleader mode now: You can do it!!!!!

@swinchick1980 that is a lot of waddling... Grin

I'm off to that hen do thing but I wish everyone a very good end of week and an even better weekend! X

Fox23 · 27/09/2018 19:57

@Street80 have a lovely and fun hen do! Enjoy yourself!
@Janefx40 my DH was rolling eyes when I said we need to start nursery at 20 weeks. But when I said we only have maybe 6 of 7 weekends before I’m too useless to help. That seemed to help! Now my DH is sooooo happy that he listened 😂
@Beherenow32 good luck!!!!!! Let us know how the scan went!!!
@emalady no.... I don’t talk to my bump. There is no way my baby will know that I’m talking to her rather than my husband! So, as long as she hears mine and my DH voice, all is good 😁
Tomorrow I have my last day at work!!!!!!! And little get together afterwards. I actually wish I could just go home after work and sleep!

emalady · 29/09/2018 15:21

I feel much better about not talking to my bump now thanks!!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

@DameSylvieKrin how are you doing? Hope everything went OK.

DameSylvieKrin · 29/09/2018 18:13

Thanks @emalady, yes, everything went fine in the end, a couple of stressful days in the hospital before he was born yesterday but luckily everything worked out fine despite the vasa previa (I also had placenta previa, but vasa previa was the main danger).
I’m not doing amazing but better today than yesterday, so hope to be home in a week. But the main thing is that the little one is doing great and is big for an early baby so didn’t need an incubator.
Wishing you all the best!

Fox23 · 29/09/2018 18:43

@DameSylvieKrin omg! Congratulations!!!!! 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
That’s so great that you all are doing well! I’m so very happy for you all!

Liverpool19 · 29/09/2018 18:55

That’s so frustrating jane we still can’t start our room as the house is still going through 🙈 that’s another story and one I don’t have the energy for 😂 still no scan date but hoping it arrives soon. 31 weeks today as maybe 8 weeks left😳
So jealous of you finishing work fox have a well deserved rest!
dame congratulations!!! What did he weigh? X

Janefx40 · 29/09/2018 21:17

@DameSylvieKrin congratulations. Glad he's doing so well. Sorry to hear things haven't been as easy for you. Hope you feel better soon so you can make the most of enjoying your little man

@DameSylvieKrin I'm glad that the little one is doing well, sorry that you aren't having a good time but I hope it gets better and you are all home in not too long.

I'm 21 weeks now and it feels like it's getting slower!

Beherenow32 · 30/09/2018 13:17

I’m just popping on quick to say we had our scan. All went great, and it’s a little girl! So happy xx

Janefx40 · 30/09/2018 17:31

@Beherenow32 congrats!!! I can't believe you are 20 weeks already. Time seems to go fast...for other people. My own pregnancy seems super slow!!

@emalady You're over half way at least!!!

Xxx

OP posts:
Liverpool19 · 30/09/2018 17:58

Lovely news beherenow
emalady sometimes I can’t believe how fast it goes like I’m 31 weeks, it only seems like the 2nd January when I was in the hospital being told I was having ivf. Some weeks though, I’m like how am I still pregnant 😂😂

Beherenow32 · 30/09/2018 18:49

Thank you.
@Janefx40 I’m only 16 weeks, we got a private scan... but my nhs scan isn’t in a couple of weeks anyway. Love a scan! How far on are you? Xx

Fox23 · 01/10/2018 08:16

@Beherenow32 that’s amazing! Little girl! 🍼 OMG! Congratulations!!!!!!!
@Liverpool19 totally agree with you! Time is flying! 1st and 2nd trimesters are slow, but third just fly by... its scary to be only weeks away from meeting my daughter!
So, my first morning off work! I think I may just put little tiny baby clothes in the wash... wasnt sure I would do that, as I didn’t see point, but I want them to smell and feel nice when the time comes.
Last weekend I got my DH to re-pack hospital bags. I read somewhere that once you’ve packed the bags, it will actually be your DH who will be getting the stuff out in hospital so he should know what’s inside and where. So that’s what I did- I got him to take everything out and then put everything back in. He seemed confused at first, then he said it was great idea.

Janefx40 · 01/10/2018 22:49

@Beherenow32 ah 16 weeks makes more sense! Lovely to know you have another scan soon.

I am now 24 + 3. No scan until end Nov I think :(

@Fox23 great idea about the re packing.

Xxx

emalady · 02/10/2018 14:21

@janefx40 yeah, being over half way is very reassuring, have a bit of a worry about 24 weeks but getting closer to viable which will reassure me loads. Apparently she would weigh about 1lb already!! I've had a second 20 week scan as they couldn't get everything. I'm definitely going to need another scan before they would repeat it on the NHS.

@liverpool19 getting closer to the end now. This whole year has rushed by. Seems we were trying for so long that once we actually started treatment it's sped by. I agree that's most of the time but at times it drags /I get super impatient to meet her.

@fox23 that sounds like a really good idea. It's difficult enough getting DH to find anything in a bag normally, makes a lot of sense for him to pack it up so he knows where to find bits /I can't get the blame for anything he can't find!! How many weeks were you when you sorted it out?

Fox23 · 02/10/2018 16:06

@emalady I started at 20 weeks. Got the pram+car seat silver cross set in offer. Then pump then clothing then started sorting out the room. I researched the hospital bag essentials, got the bags and slowly started gathering stuff. I’m glad I did all that when I had energy and it spread the cost over many months. I’m totally sorted now, just need the baby 😁
