Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

I had a couple of sweeps with DC1 - the second one worked a treat 😃. Fingers crossed it will work again but I just have a feeling this one will be late. Not long to go either Liverpool. I can’t wait to finish for mat leave!!

Fox23 · 26/08/2018 19:23

I’m 30 weeks today! My last day at work will be Sept 28th. What about you girls?

Liverpool19 · 26/08/2018 21:08

I’m 26 weeks. I’m due 1st December but not finishing until the 24th November 😬 x

Janefx40 · 26/08/2018 22:12

Hi Ladies - feel like I've not said hi in ages. Lovely to hear all the birth chat - I never expected to get to a place where I was thinking about different birth plans!

We finally got the keys to our house! So now follows an intense period of house sorting/decorating tho can't afford to do the major work yet.

20 week scan 3rd Sept.

@hailseitan I'm not planning home birth as I am too high risk in lots of ways but I'm currently not feeling induction is right for me - not meaning anything negative towards those who want one - I think what's right for each of us will vary. I'm going to read up about the risks of going over at my age - but if I think that it'd be ok, then I will be resisting an induction. My acupuncturist who is also a midwife of 30+years said that if I have a good reason not to be induced they will listen. But will wait and see a bit nearer the time. Good luck on 7th!

Great news on the house @Janefx40 and lovely to hear from you. I’m just over 28 weeks and finishing on 2 November but have a few holidays to take before that so end of October.

I don’t really know much about induction but my Mum was induced with me and my friend has been with her two. I had a very straightforward birth with DC1, water birth and no drugs so all to plan. To be honest this time I am just so delighted at my appointments that the baby is still going strong that i just smile and nod at everything which is possibly not the best. I just can’t wait to meet this baby, I think the relief will be overwhelming! I still haven’t even thought about what I might need to get! Just a few months for all of us though and we can switch our worry to feeding, poos, sleeping and other fun stuff 😂😃

Fox23 · 27/08/2018 22:13

In the last week or so I’ve discovered another “wonderful” pregnancy side effect 😊 I gave CTS - that’s carpal tunnel syndrome.... that means there is excessive fluid in my hand joints- fingers and wrists to be precise!!! I’m not swollen it’s just that ache-y feeling on non stop based is annoying and at times debilitating. So as I can’t turn over in bed without propping myself up, but I can’t even do that now without considerable pain... now I feel sorry for myself and all I can do is think that it could have been so much worse.
This pregnancy just never stops surprising me 😁

swimchick1980 · 28/08/2018 08:00

That doesn’t sound good @Fox23. You’ll be able to shout House soon in symptoms bingo 😂. I really hope to avoid that one. My main gripe just now is the tiredness, I would just love to have some energy again!!

Fox23 · 28/08/2018 09:23

@swimchick1980 agree with you 100% I spent all day yesterday in bed... too tired to move.
Strange how when people said 2nd trimester is the easiest, I didn’t believe... now, nearing the end of pregnancy so many new and returning symptoms appear daily!
But CTS is actually not that bad. Mornings are great and nothing hurts, then as day goes on pain settles in. But it really is not that bad 😁

Liverpool19 · 28/08/2018 11:47

I’m nearly into my 3rd trimester and can also say the 2nd has been no great shakes 😂 I certainly don’t have any pregnancy glow. I’m spotty and fed up 😂 heartburn is back. People keep saying “oh you’ll have another soon after this one” Somehow it doesn’t quite work like that for me so I wish they would shut up! Oh fox that sounds awful.

swimchick1980 · 28/08/2018 18:16

It’s no picnic is it??!! I’m getting the “you look well” which I think is code for “you look enormous and shattered but I better be nice”!!

It’s so annoying isn’t it Liverpool, we had the kid chat when we got married - took a while to have DC1 and what seemed like a minute, people were asking when are you going to have DC2. I felt like screaming - do you know how hard it was getting here and how hard we trying to make that happen. People have no clue!

PonyPals · 29/08/2018 01:48

Hey girls,
Just moving from the IVF threads as they are now so quiet. When we were all going through the cycles, I couldn't keep up with it!
Nice to see all of you are coasting along in your pregnancies Grin
I'm 17+2 today and at home with diarrhoea... don't you just love being pregnant!

GemmaK1 · 29/08/2018 08:29

Hello all....I am new to mumsnet and it's lovely to discover this thread. I'm pregnant with number 2, and it took us two years to conceive this little bubba, so I am finding this pregnancy very different. The anxiety is so much worse. Now I'm 14+2 and I've had my first scan I'm hoping I can start to enjoy it a little.

Janefx40 · 29/08/2018 23:09

Hi @PonyPals and @GemmaK1 welcome. It is definitely an anxious time being pregnant after some difficulties. I found the anxiety got less as time progressed although I am obviously still nervous about the 20week scan on Monday.

@PonyPals I remember you from one of the other boards. Glad things are going well but sorry about the diarrhoea - as if we don't have enough to cope with already. Hope it passes soon

Xxx

Thanks @Janefx40 how are you going with your little miracle? How many weeks now?

Liverpool19 · 31/08/2018 13:04

Welcome and congratulations gemmak1 it does get less anxious as the time goes on!
Hi pony I remember you also! Congratulations!! How you feeling now? X

swimchick1980 · 31/08/2018 16:54

Welcome @GemmaK1 - it does get a bit better. I’m 29 weeks and am encouraged by being able to feel the baby move a lot. Still anxious though and will probably only relax (or replace with new worries) once the baby is born.

@PonyPals - great to hear from you, I remember you from a previous thread, and so glad everything is going well (aside from the diarrhoea!). I have the opposite problem and think i’m going to need to do something about it soon!

Beherenow32 · 01/09/2018 12:40

Hi 😊 that’s me 12 weeks 1 day now (although measuring a day ahead). Just wanted to pop on as I was on threads with @Janefx40 @Fox23 and @wombats at the start of the year! 👋 xx

Fox23 · 01/09/2018 13:34

@Beherenow32 wow! Congratulations! It’s fantastic! That’s a massive milestone 😁 I’m so happy for you and glad to see you back 💕

Janefx40 · 01/09/2018 23:11

@Beherenow32 yay! Great news. Welcome to the thread. So pleased to see you here

@PonyPals hello! Thanks for asking. We are now 20 + 2. Have our scan on Monday. Have felt the odd flutter that I was sure was movement at the time but as it is so sporadic I wonder in between whether I imagined it!

In other news, we moved into our new house today! First sleep there tonight. So exciting. Lovely neighbours had us round for wine.

Hope you are all well xxx

Fox23 · 02/09/2018 00:02

Evening girls!
Welcome @PonyPals and @GemmaK1 nice to have you here with us!
I had my leaving drinks at work yesterday (I’m there for another month but we combined with one of my colleagues) had lots of food and alcohol free drinks... by the time I got home I had swollen ankles and very painful shoulder. I consulted Dr.Google and almost jumped in the car to go to hospital... I didn’t and in the morning all was back to normal. Must have been all the walking we did. Besides the fact that my other shoulder is killing me now 😳 along with my CTS. I’m 31 weeks tomorrow and it feels so strange to be soooo close to finishing line!!!!
@Janefx40 good luck for your Monday scan 🤞💕

Beherenow32 · 02/09/2018 09:03

@Janefx40 @Fox23 thank you! Can’t believe how far along you both are! I do feel like the weeks are flying in tho!

@Janefx40 congrats on the house! I remember you saying you were suffering from migraines... did anything come of that? I’ve been getting a lot of headaches/ dizziness and have to get my blood pressure checked. It’s hard doing daily life! Lol

Hope you’re all well xx

Janefx40 · 02/09/2018 12:52

@Beherenow32 I had terrible migraines/headaches from around week 13-17 ish. But they have eased now. First they got slightly better and started responding to paracetamol and now they have gone more or less.

You will hopefully get your energy back soon. The early weeks are a struggle. I suddenly clicked back to normal levels of exhaustion around week 18.

@Fox23 can't believe you had your leaving drinks. A real milestone. Sorry about the shoulder pain to add to your woes...

OP posts:
Fox23 · 02/09/2018 14:42

@Janefx40 how was your first night in your new house?? Must be such exciting time for you!
Yes, leaving drinks were strange but to be fair it’s getting difficult for me. Tiredness is back with vengeance (yep, 9pm tv is no longer for me). I can’t eat a lot of food as there really is no space left. It really is getting difficult to move and concentrate.
So, another 4weeks at work is about right.

Liverpool19 · 03/09/2018 16:59

Congratulations “beherenow” I’m 27+3 and people keep asking if I’m measuring correctly as I’m still really really small 😳 sure the midwife will tell me next week!
jane was your scan ok? And congratulations on the house? We are just waiting for our home buyers report to be done 🙈 the seller is starting to get on my nerves so I’ve told the estate agent if he keeps messing round I’m pulling out. I’m not but nothing a little threat doesn’t solve 😂😂

Hope everyone is ok! X

Beherenow32 · 04/09/2018 17:50

Thought I was starting to feel better with symptoms- but I am exhausted! Struggling to eat fruit and veg too... hope that gets better.

Just wondering, when did you announce your pregnancies to everyone? I’ve told loads of people.. my family and friends. But haven’t told everyone in my work yet (there’s a lot of people). X
