Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

Janefx40 · 09/07/2018 21:11

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Not being exclusive tho - if you think this is the group for you, come along in...

So come and join us if you would like to xxx

*cant wait

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is well! I’ve the worst pain down one leg. I seen the physio in work today and it’s kicked off 😂 fox how exciting. I booked my 4d scan for when I am 30 weeks. I’ve also officially made it to 6 months I’m still so shocked it’s happened. The last two days he’s been so active, my belly is constantly moving like he is trying to escape 😂. Going to view a house tomorrow that needs completely gutting top to bottom. I think I’ve lost the plot 😂😂 xx

Fox23 · 10/08/2018 19:31

@Liverpool19 fantastic!! Congratulations on 6 months! I have noticed that after 20week scan things seem to go so much quicker.
And no, you are not mad by doing some house hunting 😁 why not if you can? I probably wouldn’t have energy for that.
I’ve had 2audits and 2 meetings in the last two weeks, so glad to have it done and over with. Been stressful.
@Liverpool19 hope your leg is better!

KifInt · 10/08/2018 20:06

Hi ladies, can I join?

First baby, IVF after 4 years TTC.

Hit 12 weeks two days ago but our “12 week scan” isn’t for another week and a half. We had a 6 week scan and a private 10 week one (both perfect) but when do you tell people?! Am I being overly cautious? Surely it’s ok by now?!

Congrats everyone, it’s bloody difficult to wait and wait and wait and feels like such a miracle when it does x

Fox23 · 10/08/2018 20:50

@KifInt hello and welcome! Congratulations on 12 weeks! It’s such a massive milestone!
My stepdaughter and assistant at work knew from day one, but nobody else. I told my parents at 14 weeks. And from then on I just told as and when I “felt” it’s right. Some people still don’t know, and I’m 28 this Sunday. If you feel like telling now, by all means do 😁💐

KifInt · 10/08/2018 22:15

Ah thanks Fox, I think we’ll start telling people soon Smile I think it just feels so surreal still!

Congratulations on your pregnancy, hope everything’s going well!

swimchick1980 · 10/08/2018 23:20

Hello everyone and welcome @Kitlnt. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I told people after our “12 week” scan, which was actually at 14 weeks. We had some further tests so I was around 16 weeks before letting on. Anyone else got piles? The glamour 😮😬😳😂

MarthaMe · 11/08/2018 09:42

Morning and welcome @KifInt

We told parents at 12 weeks but no one else and still haven't and I'm 17 weeks tomorrow. Im thinking I might be brave and start telling people this week. I've had a scary time with bleeds so that's what keeps delaying me.

Liverpool19 · 11/08/2018 18:31

Welcome kiflnt I had scans at 8 weeks 11 weeks and I was 13+3 when I had my “12 week” we told everyone after that. I didn’t tell any family until then. I had a couple of friends and I had to tell work as I couldn’t of done my normal role with the IVF drugs as I’m in a “safety critical” role. So I was moved out of my normal role and kept under cotton wool in work as they are scared of anything like this as I work for the railway which is mainly male 😂

So we went to view the house. Second viewing on Monday 🙈 taking my uncle back who is a builder to see if my plans in my head can become reality with the money we have 🙈 xx

Fox23 · 12/08/2018 20:29

Evening ladies,
Had my 4D scan today and my little daughter decided that she will not cooperate... hands in front of her face, regardless of what I was doing! Only got one nice photo. Need to rebook for next week. However I also found out that my little is slightly “chubby” so no more sweets or McDonalds 🙁 BUT she has long legs and looks like her dad! 😁
We also bought IKEA rocking chair for nursery and made changing table from old IKEA unit we’ve had for years. Good day so far! Tomorrow relaxing and Tuesday hospital appointment.
@Liverpool19 good luck with house viewing tomorrow! Hope all your plans can be actioned!!!

Liverpool19 · 13/08/2018 19:00

fox my baby does the same never plays ball at scans 😂 shame about the cutting down of food though 😂 good luck for the appointment.
I’ve been the house and just waiting for a price. I’m going back tomorrow for one more look round 😂🙈🙈

Hope everyone is well. X

SouthernBella74 · 14/08/2018 09:22

Hello ladies. How’s everyone doing? I’ve been on the “telling family tour” the last couple of weeks. Both sides of the family were very happy. Grandchild number 11 for my side & the first on his. 😊 It was also nice being able to relax and not hide my bump, which finally appeared at 16w. Now back to reality & telling my boss today. 😬 I’m now 17.5w and it’s getting more difficult to hide. 😂

Will catch up on the thread, but I hope you’re all doing well. And thank goodness for this cooler weather! 👏

Fox23 · 14/08/2018 20:16

@Liverpool19 how was house viewing? Still feeling the “positive vibe”? 🤞🤞🤞
@SouthernBella74 how did your meeting with your boss go?

I had obstetrics and ultrasound today. All went sooooo well! I don’t have diabetes!! My little girl is not overweight after all! She is average, and that’s soooo good!!! Happy day! Went to Pizza Hut to celebrate 😁
How is everybody else?

MarthaMe · 14/08/2018 21:39

That's fab news @Fox23 bet you are really pleased!

@SouthernBella74 I'm thinking about telling work now I'm 17+2 and I'm struggling to hide my growing bump 😍

I went for my diabetes test yesterday and they rang me today saying I've got dreaded gestational diabetes!! I've got to go back on Friday to get my instructions. I'm a bit miffed as I'm not even 8 stone yet plus I already eat a low sugar & low carb diet!

Typical it happens to me! 🙄

SouthernBella74 · 15/08/2018 07:43

@Fox @MarthaMe boss took it reasonably well. I know he was shocked and it wasn’t something he was expecting to hear. I could tell he was doing a lot of calculations in his head and wondering how it was going to impact him! 😂 But he did congratulate me. 😊 As he was okay with me telling the other managers, told them as well. A couple of squeals of surprise & a few shocked into silence. No one ever expected THIS announcement from me! Will tell my team next week, then I’ll be free! 🙌

@Fox congrats on not having diabetes.

@MarthaMe how did you manage to find out so early? I’m booked in for my GTT at the end of October. 🤨 I hope it all goes well for you.

@jane, how’s things with you?

MarthaMe · 15/08/2018 08:13

@SouthernBella74 that's fab news you've told so many people. I'm hoping to be just as brave this week. I know everyone will be so shocked too, after so many years trying in secret I just pretended I didn't even like children so stop people asking me!! 😂 Wish me luck!

I haemorrhaged at week 13 and was taken to a&e and they did a full blood count and found out I had high glucose level so was referred to get my GTT without waiting. So annoying as I have a healthy low carb low sugar diet anyway !!

SouthernBella74 · 16/08/2018 11:05

@MarthaMe, oh goodness. That must have been scary! But at least the diabetes was identified early and hopefully the treatment plan isn’t too much.

If I could have avoided telling people until after my 20w scan, I would have. But it was getting more & more difficult to dress for work! 😂 But none of my friends know yet as haven’t been socialising so much this summer.

Good luck with sharing your news 🍀

Liverpool19 · 16/08/2018 17:12

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well!! Sorry for the late reply fox Ive been so busy with work and trying to work out costs for this house. Yes feeling positive vibes from it. We have our 3rd and final viewing on Saturday with a friend who’s a builder who is going to give us a quote for all the work I want and what needs doing. There’s two walls I need to knock down including a chimney breast 😂. So want a quote for the work then will hopefully be putting an offer in. I’ve lost the plot I said I would never buy a house to do up. And here I am 6 months pregnant planning to do exactly that 🙈🙈 x

emalady · 20/08/2018 14:10

Hey all, feels like I have been off here for ages. Glad most people seem to be doing well and the headaches are easing. We had our harmony results and all is low risk plus we are having a girl, so excited!!

@Liverpool19 you are brave! We moved in October and have someone coming over today to talk about replacing the kitchen. Hoping it will all be sorted before Feb as needs a wall knocking down and a door blocking / window extending.

Liverpool19 · 20/08/2018 15:14

emalady brilliant news on your test results!! Congratulations on having a little girl to! Well we have put an offer in and have plans for all the work and all’s that need knocking down. We have a builder waiting to go also so just a case of waiting for it to complete 😂 x

swimchick1980 · 20/08/2018 19:26

Brilliant news emalady, what a relief and so exciting to know you will be having a baby girl in a few months time.

Liverpool, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

Fox23 · 21/08/2018 18:15

Afternoon ladies!
@emalady congratulations! Such brilliant news! It’s so lovely to have a little girl!!! I bet you bought something pink already 😉
@Liverpool19 you are soooo brave!!!! Good luck with your new house! It will be so worth it once it’s all done up and pretty!!!

I have my second attempt at 4d on Thursday as last week she would just hide her face. I had to call in sick today and tomorrow as I feel so off. Not sure if it is a bug or just tiredness catching up. I must admit ladies this pregnancy thing is far from glamourous-really-

  • I feel and look fat *i actually snore so loud lately my DH can’t sleep anymore next to me! *i can’t sleep
  • I can’t roll over or get up/ I look like overturned bug🐞 lol
  • I snort when I talk or laugh - I woke myself up with the loudest snort ever about an hour ago!
  • I waddle- so my prayers that I will be wearing heels have not been answered... I always used to wear heels
  • maybe tmi but also fart... sorry ladies but I do... *nothing fits me anymore
  • etc Evolution really hasn’t thought about glamour... has it? Lol 👠 You know I’m sure all of the above are the main reasons why maternity leave officially can start from week 29... I’m 29+2
Liverpool19 · 21/08/2018 20:27

fox thank you! We’ve just had our offer accepted 😂

Oh yesterday I was being served in the Asda “oh wow your massive, how far are you”
Well I’m really not massive for your information, your the only person who has said this to me. So why dont you keep your trap shut. I’m 25+3 and I’m really still quite small. I have the midwife Thursday.
I’m really fed up this week like every singe thing is annoying me. I feel rough also and I’m really spotty. Pregnancy really is not glam. People tell me this is the time your meant to feel amazing. That’s a lie, I’ve not felt amazing since before the first injection 😂

Fox23 · 21/08/2018 22:17

@Liverpool19 you are spot on! This must be international “if you are pregnant - be annoyed “ week! 😆

swimchick1980 · 23/08/2018 08:28

Fantastic news Liverpool.

I’m so glad you ladies are feeling the same way. I not only feel fat, I am fat (not just bump, proper fat!!) 😪. DH also said this morning he is not sleeping well due to my snoring 😴. I am also gassy!! Constipated. The list continues. Our bundles of joy will be worth it but I am done with the whole pregnancy bit now!

I hate when people comment on your size when pregnant - it’s like being pregnant gives people permission to speak to you as they wouldn’t normally. Ggrrrr!!
