Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SK166 · 07/07/2018 23:47

@KTD - I bought a pet cooling mat the other day for SKPup who is really miserable in the heat, and it's so great that I'm contemplating buying a small one for baby to go under a sheet in the buggy/crib for baby while it's super hot. Might be worth considering? It's basically a gel pad that goes slightly cooler (not cold though) where there's pressure. Our house is also like an inferno no matter how many fans are on/windows are open so trying to think outside the box!

@Lost - glad you went in and that baby is ok, if a little awkwardly positioned! Have you got a yoga ball to be bouncing on to try to coax little one into facing the right way?

@lmx0 - you're so efficient! Even at a week overdue, we still haven't even got the car seat out of the garage or put the crib up!

Have spent the evening bouncing around on the ball, standing and bouncing, hip-swaying and having words with baby. Thought I'd then give nipple stimulation a go. Anyone tried it? It made her move like crazy and I got loads of colostrum flowing but didn't feel anything else happening.

Induction is booked for Friday night Sad Desperate to avoid it.

lmx0 · 07/07/2018 23:55

@SK166 pads sound worth looking into!! Really?! Id be having kittens i like to be sorted and not have to worry about anything think i might look into nipple stimulation i hope you go before Friday!! I want to avoid induction as much as possible too!!

lifechangesforever · 08/07/2018 07:18

I've been ready for weeks now, which I'm not sure was the right thing to do because it's meant that I've spent more money on things that I 'might' need. Although I've just remembered that her crib needs to be put up!

I know what you mean about the temperatures though and I live in a very cool house but the nursery has been high 20s all week, I believe my room is cooler though - going to move the GroEgg in and check it out. I've bought the lightweight cotton swaddles for her to sleep in initially.

Starting to panic about stupid things now - text DH at 11pm last night to ask what the hell I do when I need the toilet and I'm here alone?! I have 2 dogs so can't just leave DD in her crib or bouncer etc. I'm being silly though, I'll figure it out.

Smellyjo · 08/07/2018 08:24

Life I don't have dogs but when baby was awake always ended up taking her to loo with me as she'd scream if left on her own. Bouncers are pretty portable and Moses baskets are good for that. If baby asleep you could just close door to keep dogs off? But you will work it out, don't worry.

SK166 · 08/07/2018 08:51

@life - I totally get it. I have similar worries about how to manage SKPup and a newborn. He’s only 9 months old and very energetic. Worried about how to keep him entertained so he doesn’t drive me crazy and what do I do when he needs to go out for a wee and I’m in the middle of feeding the baby?! Our garden is communal and not secured so he has to be supervised every time he goes out. I have a feeling it might cause quite a lot of tears in the first few weeks!

lmx0 · 08/07/2018 11:20

Think its totally normal eps for first time mummies ive got of my step mum a portable travel gate so i can keep my little doggie out but the door still be open so i can hear and see her and so can he (should keep him happy too hopefully!)
@SK166 are you planning on bf or ff?

lifechangesforever · 08/07/2018 11:22

Thanks ladies - glad I'm not going completely insane.

@SK166 the communal garden thing sounds tough though - we used to be the same and had to stand at the door with them on a lead whilst they went to the toilet and then obviously go out straight away to clear up. One of my dogs is a huuuuuuge barker too - at any slight noise outside, she sounds like a banshee so she's not only going to wake baby up but I have to get up to bring her inside, which will impossible if feeding and she'll just go on and on otherwise!

lmx0 · 08/07/2018 13:56

So freaking tired today!! Grumpy and dh is doing my head in along with aches and uncomfortableness!! Hope you ladies are having a much better day!!!

LostMyBaubles · 08/07/2018 17:47

Life you inspired me to get things cleared out of the cot, will get the cot mattress cover washed today (not been used in a few years so will wash again nearer the time)
Air the mattress out.

Will give the cot a proper wash down in the next few days.

To cool room with fan try sticking ice block (the ones you can get for packed lunches) behind the fan

Sk nipple stimulation does give me tightenings --learnt the hard way
lol--

Imx0 I could have written your last post myself! Hope your evening is better

Im planning on bf.

Also from what Ive read and been told by mw baby might not be able to turn if placenta is low and in the way hence the transverse position. He could stay that way.
So I think im slowly thinking about possible section. So if I need one atleast ive been a lil mentally prepared

Those that have had 1 in the past any tips??

SK166 · 09/07/2018 08:35

@lmx0 - how are you feeling this morning? Any less grumpy? It’s very slightly cooler today so hopefully that helps?!

@lost - if it helps, everyone I know who has had a section (quite a lot of people) has said it was a good, calm experience, even those with emergencies, so if it does come to that then do think positive.

9 days overdue now and still no baby here. Every evening when she’s wriggling like crazy and giving me cramps and stabby pains I get my hopes up and then every morning that I wake up with nothing I lose that hope all over again.

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 08:51

@SK166 deffo in better mood today!! Think its to be a bit cooler this week (YAY!) and even a spot of rain at some point poor you!! Sounds awful!! Hopefully shes makes up for all this torment by a nice labour and birth!!
@LostMyBaubles alot of people with planned sections have said about it being calm and feeling in control as they know what to expect more and means its planned no waiting around on baby deciding to come

lifechangesforever · 09/07/2018 08:55

Oh @SK166 you must be getting to the end of your tether with the waiting, especially with false alarms! It really isn't long now though Smile

Much cooler here today - quite overcast too. DH is travelling a lot this week so hoping baby stays put until the weekend now. I definitely reckon I'm going to be 2 weeks over though, that's a lot of text messages to ignore!

SK166 · 09/07/2018 09:24

@life - oh god the text messages! I’ve got a stock response now to tell people to just hush up and wait for news because I can’t be dealing with it all.

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 09:59

I dread the messages!!!! Really it really bad of me not to reply and they can think what they like? 😂

lifechangesforever · 09/07/2018 10:05

Already driving me mad and I'm not due for another 9 days.. even worse when you get them in succession because you're not replying AND 'you haven't been on Facebook' !!!!

Sorry, I don't spend my life on the internet or my phone and stop stalking me Envy

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 11:17

Been to to mw this morning now waiting to hear from hospital for a scan as mw thinks baby is now breech after being head down from 28 weeks!! (Wee witch!) not gonna lie I'm shitting it!!!

KTD27 · 09/07/2018 11:28

lmx0 oh no! What a pest. Hopefully it was just hard to tell whether it was a bum or a head and they’re still head down.
lifechanges I’m getting the same. Lots of ‘how you doing any baby news?’ As if i would forget to tell them! And the MIL lasted not even 24hrs after being told about the section date and not to tell anyone I’ve had two family members ask me about it Hmm
SK I suppose the only consolation is that there can’t be long left either way?? Hope things move for you soon

My friends waters broke yesterday and I’m jealous as all hell even though there’s been no progression since then.
I went to my midwife this morning and there’s no changes in the waters so to speak with me. Another attempt at a sweep but my cervix is not favourable so I think the section tomorrow is inevitable. I’m still a bit emotional about it but really by this time tomorrow baby will be here so I’m clinging to that.

LostMyBaubles · 09/07/2018 12:24

Kt theres still a little bit of hope like you said this time tomorrow hopefully

Imx0 how many weeks are you now?
Hope the scan goes well. Let us know what they say. Im in similiar situ with position so would love to hear what hosp have to say!

Sk Flowers ignore the messages

Life thankfully I dont have FB Grin

nightwispa · 09/07/2018 12:30

So glad to have come across this thread. 29 weeks here and to say I'm struggling is the biggest understatement- I'm swollen, sticky and have the beginnings of SPD. Have been signed of work due to heat exhaustion. To top it all off, baby has decided not to move as much so have been a regular visitor to the hospital. Am wishing away the next 10 weeks and praying for some rain, wind, sleet, snow :(

nightwispa · 09/07/2018 12:33

Oh and a bit of my front tooth crumbled on the weekend and I've been told I'll need a filling... happy days (not)

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 13:29

@KTD27 funnily enough when I was poking what i thought her bum i did think it was rather big for a bum....... at least tomorrow baby will he here and all the waiting will be over
@LostMyBaubles im 37+4 haven't heard from the hospital yet they like to keep a pregnant woman waiting!!
@nightwispa sounds like you are having a rough time of it and this heat doesnt make anything easier!!

LostMyBaubles · 09/07/2018 14:02

Imx0 thats what I kept feelimg too lol
Thought it was bum! After the scan was told that its head.
Hes transverse (across stomach, i had to look this up lol) rather than breech but pbv both still meand head is not down lol

Night hope your tooth gets sorted!
Weather is a lil better today too so Hopefully that helps

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 17:13

Booked in for a scan on Friday then depending on that i will have to got to a clinic next thurs (1 week before dd) to discuss my options the mw had mentioned about turning on the phone but i will not he letting that happen id rather go for section but i think they are cutting it rather fine are they not? By the time i go to this clinic and discuss my options and then they book me in (if thats the route we are going with) id be days away from dd and possibly went into labour? (Im normally chilled out but been a bit weepy this afternoon!)

LostMyBaubles · 09/07/2018 18:05

Imx0 they do sound like they are cuttimg ot fine but if they arent worried hopefully it's ok?

lmx0 · 09/07/2018 18:11

Hopefully so hopefully on Friday they tell me to come in earlier than next thurs for discussions i can live with having a section its just not knowing and waiting stage i cant bare!!
