I've lost count of what number we were on, sorry.

Also there seems to be another BFP after MC thread running, but it has all different people on it so I didn't know if we should crash theirs or just have two running at once...

Hi everyone a question about supplements. I have been taking 5mg folic as prescribed early on by my doctor. Im 21 weeks now and my question is should i still be taking it? Suddenly started to panic that i shouldn't be... thanks in advance of any thoughts

HidCat · 07/07/2018 19:36

@Snorebrown yes you can keep taking it. Any excess is peed out so not doing any harm.

Snorebrown · 07/07/2018 19:40

Thanks Hidcat. My thought is if it was bad they wouldn't have given me a repeat prescription maybe? Im taking it only as a precautionary following 2 mc

HidCat · 07/07/2018 20:07

No they wouldn't. You can take antenatal vitamins right the way through too so that's a good sign.

BertieBotts · 07/07/2018 23:13

You don't need to take it past 12 weeks (for normal dose, I don't know with high dose - ask your midwife?) but in any case it won't harm to keep taking it. There is a school of thought that excess folic acid might cause tongue tie in babies so it might be worth keeping an eye out for this but it's not a proven link at all and even if you did have that problem it's not a massive one, it's treatable.

Defo if they've given you a repeat prescription I'm sure they would have said oh no you can stop that now if they wanted you to.

It’s fairly harmless, I was taking it for same reason and stopped at 12 weeks though. Maybe ask your doctor why it’s been continued?

How is everyone coping with the heat? My house is like a sauna especially at night and I’m covered in mosquito bites. #feelingmiserable!

HidCat · 08/07/2018 08:29

@Paranormalbouquet bedroom like a greenhouse and finding it very difficult to sleep. Managed about 5 hours in the end though which isn't too bad. Work stress isn't helping either mind!

Paranormalbouquet · 08/07/2018 08:55

I’ve been bringing bottles of ice to bed, which helps a little. Outdoor temperature was still 27 degrees at 10pm last night though so it feels like a losing battle! I’m getting 4-6 broken hours too. Neighbours celebrating World Cup last night didn’t help either!

kirinm · 08/07/2018 20:13

I've been at a wedding for the last 3 days, camping in 30 degree heat. Camping was fine but the heat was really gross, I've had really swollen ankles / feet for the last day or two. Currently on the way home to shove them in some cold water!

somethingfromnothing · 09/07/2018 10:12

We were at Center parcs last week with our dd. It was great but such a busy holiday and so warm! Then we went to see the killers last night and didn’t get home to midnight. I’m normally in bed at half 8 just now. My morning sickness is punishing me today for not having enough sleep!

Paranormalbouquet · 09/07/2018 10:36

@kirinm I’m in awe of you camping at your stage! Glad you had fun. I’m shattered from poor sleep at this stage. My fan is just moving hot air around the room at night and there’s no breeze. Living in a little Victorian mid terrace cottage which is designed to keep the heat in. Great in winter, not so much in a heatwave!

Have my first OGTT, 16 week midwife appt and cervical check on Wednesday. What happens at 16 week midwife appointment?

Anxiousfeelings · 09/07/2018 10:44

I’m not envious of the heat for any of you down in the south! Well done camping! We are in Scotland and its cooler here.

@para I had my 16 week midwife appointment 10 days ago. It was basically a chat, test of urine, blood pressure and then she listened for the heartbeat. Good luck!

kirinm · 09/07/2018 10:46

@Paranormalbouquet it was totally fine as I'm not hugely uncomfortable but I wouldn't recommend doing it in the heat. And that's my last pregnancy trip now.

My 16 week appointment was a bit of a shambles because they were still trying to deal with all my bleeding but I think it was just a regular check up. They did listen to the heartbeat but I think that varies midwife-to-midwife so it might not happen.

Paranormalbouquet · 09/07/2018 10:50

I think I’ll tell them not to listen for heartbeat as may be hard to find with anterior placenta and I’ll be having cervical scan afterwards during which it will be easy to see heartbeat anyway.

Having early OGTT as part of the high risk pre term protocol. Several weeks of reduced activity after surgery will have increased my risk too, as does my age and my family history, and being a bit overweight. So expecting to be on a diet from next week!

Came across this thread on Active Threads. I recognise quite a few names from the TTC after MC threads a while ago and i’m so pleased to see that things are progressing well. I am also now finally in a similar boat - got a BFP after first round of ICSI. Now 21 weeks and feeling a bit better about it all. I don’t think you can ever really relax after MC though. Best of luck to you allSmile

BloominMoomin89 · 10/07/2018 06:34

Hello all - i disappeared for a while because I felt like i was pulling a con, lying about the whole pregnancy which is my lasting feeling from the mmc (where i technically wasnt pregnant for 5 weeks total but i didnt know that).

Im 19 weeks today, feeling something wiggling ish i think and having my 20 week scan later today :) ive been having some counselling arranged by the midwife and feeling better for it. I even announced the pregnancy to Facebook last week. I arranged a scan to take my son to but he got chicken pox so we facetimed. I was hoping to stay team yellow but the scanner tripped up after i said i didnt want to know but im not overly upset about it. We've even got a name to think on - Jamie Arun (arun means dawn, late mils nickname) our son has late fils name as middle name already.
It feels so real now i have a proper bump too ish. I didnt get a full bump until near 8 months last time so its a bump to me.

Its been nice catching up on all your news over the pages. So many in 2nd and 3rd trimester now. Xx

HidCat · 10/07/2018 07:03

@BloominMoomin89 so pleased you had a good scan! Hopefully you'll be able sit and and feel reassured with the movement now.

Anxiousfeelings · 10/07/2018 22:33

Is it normal to suddenly feel really sad again about losses when this pregnancy appears to be going so well? For the last two nights I’ve felt really sad about the two we lost over the last year. It kind of feels like everyone else expects that all to be over now, as if this one means that those didn’t happen. Can’t really explain it properly but it feels like nobody really gets it.....

HidCat · 11/07/2018 06:28

@Anxiousfeelings I'd say that's a perfectly normal thing to be feeling. Unhelpful comments about how at least we have this one now don't change the past and everyday of pregnancy is a reminder of what could have been. Let yourself grieve again hun, it's ok.

Flatwhite32 · 11/07/2018 07:01

@Anxiousfeelings that's absolutely normal. I cried on Mother's Day (which was just a couple of weeks after the due date for my MMC baby), and this was despite being pregnant again. I'm 38 weeks now with this baby, and last Thursday I had a growth scan. All was ok, but it was in the same room where we found out about the MMC, and I was hit by a sudden wave of sadness when I walked in. A new pregnancy absolutely isn't a replacement. Some people who haven't been through it find that really hard to understand.

Paranormalbouquet · 11/07/2018 15:36

@Anxiousfeelings I think it's entirely normal. I'm still a bit detached from this pregnancy and sad at times. Due date for miscarriage number 3 is in 6 weeks and I know that will be hard.

@swimchick1980 I'm glad everything is going well.

@Bloomin I hope the anomaly scan went well.

I was in the hospital all morning- glucose test, midwife appointment and preterm clinic. Glucose results next week, BP and urine ok, cerclage still in place thankfully and baby kicking away on the scan. Starting to feel more real. Might need to start investing in some maternity clothes now. Bump is getting quite obvious.

kirinm · 11/07/2018 15:38

Great news @Paranormalbouquet glad everything seems to be going okay. How many weeks are you now?

Paranormalbouquet · 11/07/2018 15:52

16+5 now. Anomaly scan 3rd August.

Anxiousfeelings · 11/07/2018 17:00

Thanks everyone! Feeling more positive today :) @flatwhite exactly, a replacement is what people seem to think it is. I know it’s well meaning but it makes me feel like I’m being silly or over-emotional.

@para great news! The due date for my second MMC is also in 6 weeks. I think it is difficult to not be a bit detached. Go out and get the mat clothes- can’t beat a elasticated waist!

keeponrunning85 · 11/07/2018 17:37

Great news paranormal!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today anxious.

Not much to report here. Baby has stayed nice and active so no more trips in with reduced movements which is a relief and I've had a week off having a scan. The baby has managed to get itself round to being transverse so hopefully it is on it's way to being head down. I've been trying to be good and sit/kneel in all the positions that are meant to help but am currently flopped on the bed!
