Irritable and emotional - is labour near? Not enjoying pregnancy

I am 38 weeks and Although I am greatful for the little life growing inside me, have not enjoyed being pregnant one bit. 4 months of constant morning sickness (nausea and vometing) followed by what I can only describe as my fanny bone being snapped in half, sleepless nights (having to wake up when i need to roll over thanks to my pelvic pain), constant heart burn and water retention has left me feeling very down

For the past two weeks I’ve had pains in my lower back and stomach. Me and DH think it’s time and then they go away...for days!! The midwife said i was in early labour a week ago. Now i feel incredibly irritated. The irritation wakes me up in the night it feels like it’s radiating out of me. I’ve been incredibly emotional today and been in tears all day. I’m incredibly tired all the time but not sleeping. Did anyone have this before they went into labour? I’m still waiting for the nesting- my bump is so heavy and hips are sore I can’t do much.

I know everyone is different but I just need someone to tell me that I feel this rotton because he’s on his way out!!!

12 days overdue today 😕. On my way to hospital for scan & assessment now. Will either be kept in for induction or sent home till sat and have one then

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 07:37

@Babyrowlandsmummy I'm ok thanks! Ongoing loose 💩 lots of wees and generally knackered! I'm not so tearful today though - I think the Magnum really helped 😂!

Ooh induction tomorrow so baby here by Saturday at the latest!!! That's exciting. Good luck. You'll be fine x

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 07:38

@2good fingers crossed they just do it today for you! I'll be thinking of you x

Babyrowlandsmummy · 14/06/2018 08:40

Hey guys, just an update. It's a boy! He was born at 5.08 this morning after quite a traumatic 25 hour labour. Wasnt chunky at all! Just so much water, he's only 6lbs 13oz and absolutely gorgeous! @carringtonm congratulations! Wow that's supposed to be lucky! x

LuckygoLucy · 14/06/2018 11:08

Amazing @PlainK you did it CONGRATULATIONS XXX

@EmmaJR1 Your turn lol Also no chocolate or flowers last night 🤔

@2good have they kept you in?

I dreamt all last night that I was in labour, like different scenarios all ending with me in it lol... Woke up at 5 wanting to throw up and feeling very sick no labour though haha... not sure if I've eaten something dodgy or it's a sign ... I've still got couple weeks so probably the first lol xxx

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 12:35

@plainK Congratulations! 25 hours wow! Marathon labour! Enjoy your new arrival! X

@LuckygoLucy you need to have a word with your dh! Chocolate was the least you should expect!!! X

2good · 14/06/2018 12:36

Congratulations plaink that's brilliant news! Sorry to hear it was such a long labour- glad it's all behind you now.
luckygolucy I'm back home now. They did the scan and all is well with the baby, lots of fluid etc. They actually want to bring me in tomorrow evening rather than sat morning as they're trialling a 'balloon' induction so I'll start with that instead. Have any of you heard of that?

Babyrowlandsmummy · 14/06/2018 12:39

@plainK congratulations!!!!!!!!! 💐💐🍾🍾🍾 xxx

@2good Never heard of it! What does it entail? X

LuckygoLucy · 14/06/2018 13:41

@EmmaJR1 I've demanded diet coke chocolate and flowers for today lol...

@2good .. Never heard of it but good signs that bubba is happy. And may get to meet him or her earlier.

Im so grumpy still feel sick with no sickness but my lovely doggie keeps throwing up!!

What's everyone's status atm I've lost who is where now lol... I'm currently 37 bang on which is depressing as missed a week and thought I was further ahead!! Having (if I make it) a elcs at 38+6 Last few days headaches, nausea, achy back and lots of pressure down there xx

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 14:18

I'm 39+4 and I have intense pressure down below, constantly weeing and up until today was very irritable and weepy! Don't think I'm close!

What did your dh say about your demands - did he realise he had cocked up? 😂

LuckygoLucy · 14/06/2018 15:10

He did when I joked about being left alone on this important day... you could see his brain running through what it could be lol. I also had a bit of a mad cleaning session yesterday and he was like I'm getting you flowers not because I missed it but cause you look after our home and our family so well.... I cried and called him names bloody emotions!! He has not replied but he works In a black hole for signal. I want to be close even though I'm classed as high risk hence the elective, just cause I want baby out lol but I think I'll make it xxx

LuckygoLucy · 14/06/2018 17:05

Okay so maybe this is just wishful thinking but keep getting like tightening but not sure if it's just baby wriggling or something more.... Sorry to keep Harrassing everyone lol xx

2good · 14/06/2018 18:25

luckygolucy sorry to hear that about him missing the day. Hope you're ok.
Basically for the first 'stage' of induction (there's 3 stages, and it can take several days), instead of using a gel to trigger contractions which open the cervix, they insert a balloon which gradually forces it open over the space of 12 hours. Bleugh doesn't sound pleasant, but nothing about the induction process does

LuckygoLucy · 14/06/2018 19:23

@2good I'm annoyed but finally got chocolate and ice cream... 😁😁😁

Sounds interesting ... does that mean your in hospital for the 12 hours. I guess it means it's drug free is that good or bad lol xx

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 20:17

@LuckygoLucy you're not harassing anyone. It might be Braxton Hicks but they can happen for a few weeks before labour! Enjoy your ice cream and chocolate! X

EmmaJR1 · 14/06/2018 20:19

@2good that's sounds weird but if you can not have drugs then that's a brilliant advancement! Let us know what it feels like. I'm intrigued! X

2good · 14/06/2018 21:06

Thanks, yeah they keep you in the whole time: 12 hours for the cervix to open, then break your waters, monitor you for a further 24 hours, then labour might start itself.. if not, then go on oxytocin drip to bring on contractions. Normal induction would be a similar timeline too (unless natural labour kicks in after one of the stages)... so am extra 3/4 days... Just what I need after 42 weeks of pregnancy Sad

carringtonm · 15/06/2018 04:21

Sorry I haven't been on - still in hospital as baby had been struggling to latch. Managed to crack it tonight though so should be going home in the morning!

carringtonm · 15/06/2018 04:26

@EmmaJR1 I'd rather not put a photo up on a forum if that's okay, but I can completely unbiasedly promise that he's gorgeous 😂

The labour was 19 hours and fairly straightforward, but I did find the pain unbearable and had to have pethidine with my gas and air - baby was a bit sleepy for 24 hours after birth as a result which didn't help with feeding. Had a lot of stitches too which are stingy now but not as bad as I've heard people say! The bleeding from down below has slowed very quickly too.

carringtonm · 15/06/2018 04:26

Oh, and congratulations to @plainK!!! Who's next??

Babyrowlandsmummy · 15/06/2018 05:40

@carringtonm hopefully me! Being induced today. Baby number one so i have no idea what I’m in for 🙈 been up most of the night with nerves and immense pressure down below :( all gonna be worth it soon tho!! Nearly time to meet my little boy! Xxx

EmmaJR1 · 15/06/2018 06:02

@carringtonm I completely understand! Well done! 19 hours?!? Crikey! The pethidine will wear off and I'm sure you'll have no problems! Congratulations again! X

@Babyrowlandsmummy you'll be fine! It will all be over by this time tomorrow and you'll have a lovely baby! Good luck x
