@shallen Work and pregnancy is hard. I find I have a foggy head and things that would usually be easy are just mentally harder. Mixed with hormones and tiredness it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed. I’ve got a moderately demanding job and it gets me down when I don’t feel like I’m doing it justice.

shallen · 29/08/2018 10:46

@Emma198 haha! I got in a rage with my husband the other day because he keeps bringing carrier bags home (they are taking over our house). Totally unnecessary!

Bless he doesn't quite understand that I'm just grumpy cos of my hormones and keeps asking if he has done something wrong....... which winds me up, I had to explain to him that I'm basically a grumpy bitch right now and not to take it personally!

shallen · 29/08/2018 10:49

@Pigeoncat I do feel a bit overwhelmed with work you are right, but I don't tend to worry about not doing it justice..... I have checked out already and am counting the days till I can finish!

Melaniesunflower · 29/08/2018 16:41

So today was a first for me.... my lunch obviously didn't like me, so decided to leave very quickly! First time I've been sick all pregnancy, so now feeling very sorry for myself. My work colleagues are lovely, and made sure I was feeling ok before sending me home early.

In case anyone finds it useful...

I love a good list. Slowly accumulating things as I go shopping each week. It looks like I'm moving in, but I'm going to be incarcerated in the post natal unit for a minimum of 5 days.

@Melaniesunflower did your lunch have cheese in it by any chance? That's something I still can't stomach!

shallen · 29/08/2018 20:30

@Another
You are so organised!! I wouldn't have thought of half of this, mind you I have no idea what I'm doing!!

Gonna steal your list.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 29/08/2018 20:50

@shallen I've got a list and some of the stuff on it....don't actually have a bag to put it in though 😂

shallen · 29/08/2018 21:08

@Another looking at that list I'd suggest a large suitcase! 😀

AnotherOriginalUsername · 29/08/2018 21:43

I have a large, florescent yellow North Face holdall that would give Mary Poppins a run for her money!

When my husband and I went to London for a weekend. His and hers packing! (To be fair, I was doing the marathon!)

My husband has treated me to a lovely new big bag. We have:

Everything for the baby except a car seat
2 x nighties I don't mind binning
1 x nighty that buttons down front for easy feeding
Slippers
Big pants x 9
Disposable pants (yuck)
Maternity pads - lots
Nipple pads
Nipple balm
Nursing bras

Everything else will be stuff we already have, plus snacks and drinks apart from I'm going to invest in some spritz for bits after hearing great things.

Funny you mention a marathon @Another, as I read the other day that labour burns the same amount of calories! 😱😱

My calorie burn on my heart rate monitor for the marathon was 42,000 (1000 per kilometre!). And yes, I ate like I'd burnt 42,000 calories afterwards too - best bit by far.

I ran around London in brand new, fresh out of the box trainers which destroyed my feet, on an injury for 3/4 of it, having only started running 10 weeks before. It hurt. My husband, as I limped back to the tube after having had my feet stuck back together by St John Ambo at the after party, complained his feet hurt after he'd spent the day spectating. Labour could be fun 😂

Emma198 · 30/08/2018 09:58

Hahaha @Another he's lucky he escaped with his life!! What an amazing achievement for you. 42000 calories - you'll be needing a separate hospital bag full of Lucozade!

My cardiologist has said labour will be like a walk in the park. She nearly had a fit when I told her I'd done an ultra marathon with no training (in hindsight, I have no idea how I got to the finish mentally or physically). Was supposed to be doing national 3 peaks this weekend but obviously I'm not! If I'd known I'd have felt this well, id have been tempted to give it a shot to be honest

Italianshark · 30/08/2018 11:28

@Emma198 yesss the spritz for bitz is meant to be a life saver. I bought it the other day after hearing about it. I can literally picture it being heaven in a bottle if you've got burning bits!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/08/2018 12:32

@Italianshark I've got lidocaine vagisil (essential for a long cycle!) - definitely planning on packing that!

Emma198 · 31/08/2018 12:07

I keep craving red wine. I don't even like it. What does it meeaann?

In other news I raised the subject or perineal massage with my husband last night and said that by the time it will need to happen, I'll probably be too big to do it myself. He was horrified hahaha. I said I can't understand why anything that might help me be in less pain wouldn't be a no brainer to him 😂. He's got a few weeks to get used to the idea!

Kt2108 · 31/08/2018 12:59

@Emma198 low iron maybe!

orangejuicer · 31/08/2018 13:29

I don't think perineal massage will be happening in our house.

Sorry if this has been asked before but has anybody bought a baby carrier/sling? Scratch that, I have a feeling I have asked this question before. Blush

BrewsD · 31/08/2018 14:03

27weeks blood test today... anyone else petrified of needles & had enough of being poked? 🙈

Italianshark · 31/08/2018 14:41

@Emma198 oh my haha. I need to have that conversation with my OH soon. He has already offered to shave my bits for me tho but not sure how much I trust him!! I imagine the first time will be hilarious and il leave the situation cut up.

Emma198 · 31/08/2018 14:54

Haha @Italianshark my husband has never forgiven me after he shaved his head before we went to a wedding, I said it was even at the back but when we got there I noticed he had a big tuft that he'd missed so I'm certain I couldn't trust him with that job!

@Orangejuicer I intend on buying a sling but still haven't got my head around them properly yet and decided which one is best.

@BrewsD, hope they go well. I had them at the same time as my Glucose Tolerance so a lot of blood taken in one day (especially considering I hadn't been allowed to eat!) but they don't really bother me very much. My sister has a genuine phobia and opted out of all of the ones they let her, think her doctor had to sit on her for one, and she managed to get whooping cough injection because she knew how important that was for the baby.

@Italianshark how romantic!! 😅😅 think I'll be booking in for a wax rather than my home attempts, already struggling as I can't see what I'm waxing!!!

Italianshark · 31/08/2018 15:29

@shallen I know right?! I'm spoilt! haha...

I wish I had the lady balls to get a wax. My bodily hair grows so quick and being 1/2 Italian, it's thick and dark! I'd be down the salon weekly!

Sorry for the pube talk...
