I guess everyone is having a lovely bank holiday weekend away somewhere...

I am a golf widow currently- DP's summer replacement for football... took the kids to a soft play place this afternoon and is was relatively quiet and relaxing... I just sat and read the paper and ate maltesers...not so bad. Felt really emotional earlier and depressed for no particular reason... burst into tears when I couldnt find the usb lead for the camera .

Hope you are all having fun and are well.

Bodders- hope the pains have stopped.

fettleandminifettle · 26/05/2007 19:11

Honey - I'm here - but I assme DH is back now?

We had a great day at the steam trains today - DD was on cracking form and DH was being angel too! Went with a friend of mine who is 38 weeks pg and her 3 year old DS. She was coming on the train, as her DH was working today and I've not heard that they got back safely - so hope her waters didn't break on the train home!!!

Hope everyone is having good weekends - rain has started here now, but we had a good picnic today, so we've made the most of the weather!

take care all

honeyapple · 26/05/2007 19:40

Hi Fettle- No, I am without DP tonight too! He is down the pub with mates. Quiet night for me, watch a bit of tele... eat some icecream...

My regular trousers are all starting to get a bit uncomfy. Have to undo the top button of my jeans... just been looking at maternity stuff online, but I can't face it! Going to try wrapping a bit of material round my tum for a bit ...

Got to go and find DS... he is over the road at his friends house, but I just saw the parents go out... I guess his older brother must be in charge...

Fettle- train sounds fun... hope your PG friend got home ok!

Back later xx

fettleandminifettle · 26/05/2007 22:19

Sorry - Honey - even I abandoned you! Sorry! Got into Casulty!

Friend finally texted to say she got home safely - shouldn't have worried really, but she's my best friend and I felt guilty leaving them waiting for the train. But we all felt it best to leave while the children were still friends and not fighting!!! Which could have been dangerous on a train platform!

Hope you found DS!

What your plans for tomorrow? Not sure what we doing? May go swimming, may do more painting in our new house, but personally I just feel like monging, but you can't with a toddler (sorry big girl!!!!

sleep well

Chooster · 27/05/2007 17:51

Hey ladies - I'm kicking around too this weekend. DH is working most of it so its mainly me and DS. We've had a fab time so far but I'm knackered at the end of the day! Fettle, I could really do with some hanging out time too... Oh, those were the days when we could just chill out in front of the telly on a rainy sunday . Never mind eh - wouldn't swap DS for anything . He's also been an absolute angel this weekend.

Not much planned for tomorrow except my mum and dad are coming up to see DS which should be good - they always bring lunch with them . I think mum's starting to suspect though as each time they are coming I've somehow not managed to get to the shops

Hope you're enjoying your weekend Honeyapple - I like your style re: maternity stuff!!! I'm sure you could manage quite a while yet with some strategic bits of material

Hey conker!!! Good to hear from you - hope your holiday was fun.

fettleandminifettle · 27/05/2007 18:09

Hey Chooster -How's the weather up with you? I'm not sure I've seen so much rain as today!

we ended up going to Ikea and John Lewis looking at furniture and stuff for new house and new baby - it was meant to be a fact-finding mission, but we still ended up spending £150!!!

anyway, DD has been lovely all weekend, so helpful and chatty - just eaten an enormous supper, so I think either vomit or growth spurt about to occur!!!

DD wants to play one of her Cd-roms now, so I'd better oblige!

take care
xxx

Bodkin · 27/05/2007 21:37

Oooh, Fettle - what CDroms have you got for your DD? We have a couple that we were given and DD loves them, but has got a bit bored of them now as she can do all the things. I've been looking for some new ones (pref educational - either numbers or letters based). Hope you don't see that huge meal again later on....

Chooster, its really hard when DPs are working at the weekend isn't it. Mine has been doing weekends for ages now, but I persuded him to spend a bit of time with us this weekend and it has been sooooo lovely! We all went out for sunday lunch which was definitely the icing on the cake - no washing up either!

You have got to read the thread on 10 things your partner should know about pregnancy. It is hilarious. Needless to say I was first in with my size 9s....

Bodkin · 27/05/2007 21:39

Welcome back Conker by the way!

Honeyapple - that inbetween stage with clothes is a 'mare isn't it; not big enough for the full on maternity jeans, but normal jeans no good either. Those belly bands are supposed to be quite good...

fettleandminifettle · 27/05/2007 22:16

Belly-bands are great!!

That 10-things men should know was pretty funny, but so obviously tongue-in-cheek and definitely written by a man for men, probably shouldn't have been posted on a female site, but I'm not quite sure why it's got so heated over there!

anyway, Bodkin, we've got a couple of free CD-roms free with Junior magazine - Dorling Kindersley ones - My first numbers, my first dictionary and my first starting to read. DD does love doing them, but we discovered today that they don't work with Windows Vista, which we got with the new laptop we bought a few months ago. So that's a bit disappointing. Ended up on the CBeebies website, which has some good things, but DD seems to love the tellytubbies - which I hate!!!! also have a Noddy CD-rom, but I don't think that's very educational - haven't tried that since uploading Vista!

Just watched the King of Scotland - very good up and until the gruesome scene near the end! So we've opted for the chronicles of narnia next time, as some light relief!! (we've signed up to these post DVD rental schemes - works really well and we are finally catching up with all the films we've missed since having DD!!)

Hope tomorrow's weather is a bit better.

sleep well all
xxx

honeyapple · 28/05/2007 10:07

Oh! The guy has removed his blog so I can't have a giggle... certainly did rub people up the wrong way. His girlfriend was getting a bit stuffy too!

Belly band... yes, I've seen them... dunno whether to buy one as seem a bit pricey for a bit of material... might try and make one meself.

Grrr... was at MIL's yesterday... and reusable nappies came up... and I felt like I had to justify my decision to use them.... grrrr.... BIL and SIL there too. SIL very sweet and supportive... BIL going on about no environmental difference etc etc... Grrrr... DP just shrugged....
SIL is going to give me her Mamas and Papas pram/pushchair carseat thingy... so my search for a new one can end... bit sad, but now at I can spend money on something else... Chooster, how is your hammock?

Still raining here .

Bodkin · 28/05/2007 10:45

Ah, shame you can't read it Honeyapple - I think you would have found it very cringeworthy! I just thought it was so funny that 3 people cross posted "nob" or words to that effect and they got so upset! He did ask for comments after all! It was all very laddish and "loaded" magazine, but at the same time trying to be all new man and fluffy. Bleurgh, and made all the worse for the fact that he was touting it around the pregnancy section of mainly-female driven parenting site. What on earth did he expect! Re nappies - the best response to people who say that the washing of reusable nappies uses as much energy/water etc. as making disposables is that, although there may be some truth in that (although I doubt it) reusables don't go in landfill (which is a serious problem as space is running out) Plus I do think they potty train earlier and quicker if they can actually feel wet/poo etc.

Fettle - I'll look out on ebay for some Dorling Kindersley ones - that's a good idea, they are pretty educational arene't they. My DD is really into the cbeebies website (sigh, yes and the bleedin' tellytubbies bit) its all well and good for getting them used to using a mouse etc, but they could also be learning something useful couldn't they! It's hard work trying to get on here sometimes - we have a system of turn taking - I get 10 mins on Mumsnet, she gets 10 mins on Cbeebies or charlie and lola or playmobil website. Seems to work

honeyapple · 28/05/2007 11:38

Bodkin- That was my main point actually, about land fill sites... also if we are going to be charged for our rubbish, then DP will be quite happy that we are not filling up half our bin with stinky disposables.
Oh well, hope they will come around when they actually look at the resuable- think they are all imagining terries and pins.

MrsMcJnr · 28/05/2007 14:21

Hey ladies Lots to catch up on but I just thought I?d say hello first I?m working today anyone else?

MrsMcJnr · 28/05/2007 14:50

Juicy hope you are doing well! Not long at all now how are you feeling about it all? Do you have a birth plan? Thanks for your post for me Things came to a bit of a head with DH yesterday as his parents asked him to go out to their house and help them put coving up which meant he was gone all day and I had to do all the cleaning on my own to get the house ready for viewings tonight I was trying to be really careful but I was still exhausted and ached all over and when he came home I burst into tears the minute he walked through the door and sobbed it all out how I needed him to help me and it wasn?t fair that I was doing it all and he was off helping his folks. He looked so shocked but I think he got the message I do appreciate that it is hard when they cannot see anything but he could read about it all on the internet if he wanted to!
Firsty how are the aches and pains hon? Any better? Sorry to hear you are getting down about your size, I am sure you look gorgeous 46 inch doesn?t sound that big to me (I know, what do I know!) thanks for your empathy x
Hey Conkertree long time no see! glad you had a fantastic holiday, where were you? Sorry work?s a nightmare, hope it gets much better soon.
Honeyapple I wasn?t away this weekend hon, I slept most of the weekend though I hope your are feeling better, those pesky hormones hey! nasty weather here too, chilly!! MIL sounds irritating! DH and I are keen to use re-usables too. Haven?t started looking into it yet but Babymad sent me some links
How are those pains Fettle? Gone I hope the stream trains sounded fun as did the picnic ? what a fun Mum you are! also glad to hear your friend got home safely I don?t know if I knew you had a new house ? when do you move? Is it LoveFilm you are using? I was with them for a while, thought they were good
Hey Chooster what crappy weather! We went to North Berwick on Sat and walked along the beach (I love the smell of sea air!) it was pretty chilly and we came back wind burnt! Hope you had fun with your folks My Mum is driving me insane for the 3rd time this week she told me on the ?phone how worried she is that my sister and my close relationship will suffer if I don?t tell her my news! I pointed out that on both occasions my sis got to the 12 week mark before telling me and I am still her friend but she wouldn?t have it. Of course, she doesn?t know she?s going to see me this Sunday and that I?ll tell my sisters then (still feels scary telling people ? like tempting fate!) My friend (one with blood group issues) had her baby 7 weeks early on Friday ? he was still 6 pounds and all is well also, with so called BF, called her on Tues to see how she was, she called back Sat and left me a message to the effect that she had been too busy looking after DS (fair enough) to call back and had been doing a lot of entertaining!!!!! so much for not receiving visitors!! Maybe it?s just me she?s not receiving!! deeeeeeeeeeeeppppp breatttttttthhhhhhh!
Hello Bodkin shame I missed that thread, sounded like a bit of a storm in a teacup

fettleandminifettle · 28/05/2007 20:37

Hi all -hope you all had good weekends. I hope someone saw the sun, as there has been none here. So much rain though! Had a great weekend though. Sorry you had to work today MrsMc -wasn't it a bank holiday in Scotland?

Went swimming this morning, which seemed to ease my pelvis a bit, but first thing in the morning I can barely walk - I don't remember it being this bad this early last time. Hope physio helpful on Friday.

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well.

Glad injections and everything is going well Mrs - do you feel different this time? When is your next scan again? Keeping everything crossed for you.

Hope everyone has good Tuesdays!

take care
xxx

Bodkin · 29/05/2007 09:29

Morning all. Hope you all had lovely weekends.

Fettle - that SPD sounds grim, let's hope your session on Friday helps.

MrsMcJ - sounds like you're ready to burst at the mo! Family politics eh? Deep breath, aaaaaaand, relax (as Jane Fonda once said). As for DH helping out everyone else but you, mine is exactly the same. Drives me nuts, but can't complain too much as he has been great this weekend.

I lost the plot completely yesterday I've just got to that stage where I am in deep nesting mode and can't be doing with entertaining or having people round the house (well, apart from my other mum friends obviously ) especially when I've finally managed to clear enough toys off the floor to put the hoover round! We have this friend of my DP and his family (from Ecuador, although DP's friend is English) staying in our town for 2 months, and DP is bending over backwards to entertain them when really, I could do with him helping me out a bit more! Anyway, they came over yesterday - they have twin boys the same age as DD, who are just, frankly, a bit odd. Very unresponsive (although they speak English well) and virtually ignore DD, and just trash all her toys. The parents seem oblivious and just leave them to it. I was seething by the end of the day (and knackered) and was just whimpering "I just want everyone to go" to DP, who looked at me like I was insane. Phew, that's better. Got that off my chest

Off for a nice day out with my other mum friends and all the kids today - hooray!

MrsMcJnr · 29/05/2007 09:32

No sun here either Fettle, pretty cold actually. It was a Bank Holiday yesterday but most law firms ignored that . Sorry to hear your pelvis is so sore Not long until the physio I am exhausted and just can?t be bothered to do my work which is a pain as I do have a lot to do I guess that is different, I don?t remember being this tired last time. The lack of spotting and the nausea even though it is slight are the main differences though. My scan is next Tuesday. At this time actually. I just so hope I see what I am meant to. Thank you for keeping everything crossed for me

Chooster · 29/05/2007 10:31

Hey all - rubbish weather up here again today - cloudy and a bit drizzly - although yesterday afernoon turned out good in the end - quite warm when the sun popped out. Sorry you had to work MrsMc - I was off - nice thing about working for a bank .

Fettle - your fact finding missions sound like mine - I always end up spending a fortune .

Sorry you mum is driving you mad MrsMc - she's going to get a big surprise when you all get together - is it next weekend? My mum and dad were up yesterday... it was lovely to see them but my mum made her usual inappropriate comment. My DH was going to work in the afternoon and was due to sign all the paperwork to accept the conditions of his redundancy which is quite a tricky thing to do as he's been with the company since he was 16. On top of this he's worried about the future (financially) as he's going to be working for himself so there is no predictability. Anyway, so, we're having lunch and having fun and my mum says "So xxx, are you worried about the future?" In that "you must be worried about the future" kind of way and when my DH said he was a little concerned but he had to give it a shot - my mum says "Well, you'll just have to get another job then if you're worried"... Grrrrr, I know its not the worst thing to say, but I've been spending ages building up his confidence about the future and she just seems to lack basic common sense . We were lucky enough that my mum didn't have to work after having me, and she's just a little out tof touch I guess.

Generally though the weekend was lovely, DS was in fab form but was knackered yesterday afternoon. At about 5.45 I gave him his pudding and then went into the kitchen to answer the phone. I was only out of sight for 2 mins and he'd fallen asleep on the table with his spoon still in his hand and a nice bit of yogurt dribble coming out his mouth!!! Straight to bed for him after that

Anyway, I'm waffling on way too long!!!!! Where is that Greedy girl???

Hello ladies is it cold and wet everywhere today?! This time last year I?d just left the country for a month in the sun (and I was quite brown already!) I can?t believe it?s a year since our wedding on Sat! I?m having a bleurgh day ? can?t be bothered to do anything, just shattered. I have so much work to do but just can?t focus. I tried to do something useful at lunchtime and though I did get my Mum?s b?day pressie, my luck ran out when trying to get a comfy, suitable bra but I am in Glasgow on Thurs so may have to pop in to Bravissimo and give myself a treat

Hey Chooster ? thanks for the empathy, I know she?s just excited! She has no suspicions at all about the weekend I was hoping to spend the Sat with both of my sisters and my youngest nephew (sadly, we can?t trust the older one to not tell Granny he saw us ? he likes to re-count his whole day in bed before he goes to sleep every night it always starts with ?oh, such a busy day!? he is so cute! ) but she can?t get cover for DS1 so probably won?t get a chance to tell her the news until the dinner on Sunday night ? when it will be obvious because normally I am such a lush!

Sorry to hear that your Mum voiced DH?s fears, I imagine it is a pretty scary time for him after working for a large organisation for so long and that he doesn?t need questions like that ? if he is anything like mine, he has the hunter-gatherer mentality anyway and it is bad enough for him that he cannot provide totally for his family without you having to work without anyone rubbing it in. Glad the weekend was otherwise good Good point, where is Greedy!?
Conkertree glad you are ok and that your holiday was great.

Hello Firsty glad to hear you are resting when you need to hope things get better for you. Can?t believe how close you are getting!

stleger · 29/05/2007 14:59

I'm a vintage ttc graduate - ds is 15, so I am perhaps even a postgrad! Good luck to you all over the next few months. I'll wander off now...

Chooster · 29/05/2007 16:10

Nice of you to pop in stleger!!!

Firststar - You sound pretty organised!! Wow, hospital bags and everything - well done! Sorry to hear you are struggling physically - like MrsMc says its not long now.

MrsMc - Next weekend sounds like its going to be good fun. Will DH manage to make it back from stag weekend OK? Sorry you feeling tired. I am feeling exactly the same as you in that I just can't seem to focus on work - I've only got 3 more full weeks left and have a huge amount to do - Grrrr.....

Thanks for your comments about DH - I'm sure his venture will go well Firsty - I have every faith in him . And yes, MrsMc, my DH ius quite like yours, he likes the idea of being able to provide for his expanding family and I guess the timings are just adding to the pressure as DS2 will be born a month after he leaves his job. Ho hum - he'll be fine tho.

Ahh, I jsut remembered your question Honeyapple - the hammock lookds fab so far! We haven't put it up properly yet but what I've seen of it looks good. I'll have to practise with a teddy before I try to get DS2 into it though

Oh, Bodders! didn't see you post earlier - that sounds a nightmare having those people around. I'd feel exactly the same. When are they heading home again. I seem to remember you saying that they only arrived a short while ago.

honeyapple · 29/05/2007 17:32

Hi everybody,

Took DC up to London on the train today and we went on the London Eye. Was lovely... but I am now totally shattered.

Last night DP felt LO kick for the first time which was great. He seems to be getting a bit more in the baby mood now...

Chooster- I think it's great that your DH is taking on a new work venture... especially when he was working for the same company for so long. It will be tough, but it will be worth it in the end.

Mrsmc- havent you got a scan coming up?, and I hope your family weekend goes well. How many weeks will you be?

Firsty- bags packed! Wow you are super organised . Additions eh.. I'll have a butchers...

Bodders- hope you had a nice day with your mum friends.

Hi to everyone else.

Where is Greedy?

Bodkin · 29/05/2007 18:44

Hi all. Just had a lovely day out with my chums and their kids. DD was beautifully behaved and we had a ginormous picnic - weather managed to stay nice for the day so am sporting a rather red nose!

Firsty - can't believe you've got your hospital bag ready!!! God, we really are having babies quite soon aren't we?! You must be chomping at the bit to get your LO out and be able to be a bit more active. I think you must have the patience of a saint - sounds like you've suffered with aches and pains for most of this pregnancy but you rarely complain, so hats off to you!

Chooster - hope DH's confidence hasn't been knocked too much by the comment. Sounds like you've been doing a good job on the moral support though. at practicing with a teddy! I did that when I was pg with DD cos didn't have a clue about putting on nappies and putting in bed with covers on!

Honeyapple - sounds like Firsty has sniffed out a bargain for you on those belly bands! Bet London was a nice day out - get those feet up now though!

Hi MrsMc - sorry to hear you are feeling bleurgh, mind you, you'd worry if you were feeling great at this stage of the game, so it's all good, in a way

MW appt on Thurs. Have had a few more of the contraction-like pains since the other day, but once they pass, i feel absolutely fine, so can only assume it is the baby moving into an odd position and stretching a ligament, as it seems to be mainly on the LH side. I'll mention them to the MW anyway and see what she says.

greedygreedyguzzler · 29/05/2007 22:46
