Thanks Honey - you're right - NO NO NO NO NO!! There, I've practised!

DH has gone for a take-away! So going to forget about it all until I wake up in the morning!

Have you seen your DP on the TV yet at the concert?

xxx

honeyapple · 01/07/2007 19:13

Ha! I havent had a look yet... actually I just rang him and he told me to look at the TV cos he thought the camera was going past him... but I forgot! Whoops! Better go and have a look now, thanks for reminding me.

What take-away are you getting?

fettleandminifettle · 01/07/2007 19:16

Chinese, I think!

Let us know where DP is and we'll have a look for him too!! At least it looks dry there!

Phwoar - definitely could fancy the young princes!

Am I strange, as I also quite fancy Will Young and I know he's gay?!!!

Good thing DH is back at last!!!

good luck at work tomorrow fettle. just tell them what you told us........doing your own job is fine and you can cope with that, but not doing your managers too when you have only been doing your own one for 4 weeks. sounds perfectly reasonable, and they shouldn't expect so much from you, its not fair on you or your ickle blue fettle.

honey - i am so jealous of your lie in this morning its untrue!!!! i had a reminder last night of what its like having a little one...................dd woke up at 1am asking me to put her water back on her bedside table (she managed to get it down, but then obviously decided she couldn't be arsed to stretch and put it back and waking me up was the easiest option!)......then at 3.30 ds woke up and asked me to rebuild his tower of teddies (he has 3 teddies piled on his chest in a certain order before going to sleep every night) again, he could quite easily have done this himself but was obviously feeling lazy!!! so, i have had words with them tonight and hopefully they will be back to normal tonight!!!

Bodkin · 01/07/2007 20:42

Hey all. Fettle - hope your plan to be firm but fair with work tomorrow goes according to plan. It really sounds like they are expecting far too much from you.

Wow Honey, that is some lie-in! I got a 9.00er this morning (DPs turn to get up, and actually, as DD didn't wake up til 7.40 he didn't do too badly either) feel fantastic as a result - it's amazing what a bit of extra kip can do when your pg.

Had proper bona-fide total Chavtastic moment today.....I lost DD in Matalan !!! I'd only gone in to get some cheap cot sheets and mugs, but got sidetracked looking at baby clothes. DD wanted me to buy her some horrendous pink monstrosity of a dress, which i said no to, so she ran off. Couldn't find her anywhere - was calling her name all round the store and then panicked that she had gone out in to the car-park (still holding aforementioned grim pink dress). Luckily a very kind lady spotted my predicament and sent me off to check car park while she looked around the shop.... and needless to say she found DD looking like butter wouldn't melt sitting nicely on a stool by the baby clothes..... ggrrrrrr! I have adopted a new plan of action for such devious tactics now, and carry her old reins from when she was a toddler in my handbag. I kindly reminded her she was not too old to go back on these.... she held my hand like a little angel for the rest of the day

greedygreedyguzzler · 01/07/2007 20:50

oh dear bodders!!! poor you!!! i lost my dd in toys r us yesterday, but only for about a minute. i heard her screaming! one advantage of her having the loudest cry in the world i guess! a nice man who worked there was holding her hand saying "lets find mummy" and she was sobbing! bless her!.............i always seem to lose one of them in toys r us! they just cant resist running off to play!..............whose daft idea was it to put so many eciting toys in that shop anyway!!

Bodkin · 01/07/2007 20:55

Ah hello Greedy - are you still around? How is your building work coming on by the way?

honeyapple · 02/07/2007 10:10

hiya-

It's horrid loosing a child in a shop... all those aisles... you going one way, DC going the other! Whenever I am in a shop and see a child wandering about looking lost I always try and catch them... but it's ok to do this if you are a women, I mean dunno if my DP could do that these days . I once lost DD in woolworths, had to get staff to help me look for her... found her in a pile of mongolian cushions .

Hurrah to the smoking-ban! Now we can all pile down the pub.

ooh dear... I couldnt help myself... thread about which formula milk is best.... surely everyone should at least try to breast feed? Greedy- I know you didnt with your DC... but are you still thinking about it for number 3? The sexualization of breasts in the western world really gets my goat....

Anyway...

DD going to school again this pm for an hour, she is wearing her new school uniform in preparation. She looks so grown up, scary.

I know firsty- I am a pain in the bum about bf... I guess for me it's difficult to understand why a women wouldnt want to give her baby the best... and so put aside any personal feelings she has about it. I mean, yes it is the mother's choice... but what about the babies choice.... what would i choose if i was a baby? Absolutely bf without a doubt! . Plastic teat or nice warm nipple? yummy mummy milk or yucky synthezised cow milk? Ho hum, I'll shut up now. And bf is FREE! It costs you nothing. Save the money for bottles/milk/sterilizers and something lovely- amby nature nest maybe...

Glad to hear that you have finished work Firsty- how long now? any twinges?

Rainbowdays · 02/07/2007 13:20

Sorry having just arrived, I have to leave again, would someone mind taking my name off the list when it next gets done. I am miscarrying.

Bodkin · 02/07/2007 15:54

Rainbowy - so sorry to hear you are miscarrying - how awful for you. Look after yourself.xxxx

Firsty - hope all is well with you, why you given up work early - any health reasons, or just had enough? [i've certainly had enough now and i've still got 8 weeks to go!!]

Well, I told my boss' boss that I couldn't do it - AND the obvious emotional, hormonal tears started. Felt really stupid, but there is so much on my plate at work. He said oh it doesn't matter! FFS (really don't swear normally, promise), but why did he ask me to do it, "if it doesn't matter"!!!! Anyway, boss should be back tomorrow her little boy is out of hospital, thank goodness -no idea what she's been through these last few days.

work still stressful, but hopefully will calm down as our new starters find their feet and start pulling some weight. So tempting just to not bother going back but I have more sticking power than that!

Honey, how did DP enjoy the concert yesterday? Didn't really realise it was over 6 hours long!! we gave up watching pretty quickly!

Hope everyone else has had good Mondays! I have to go persuade DD and DH that it is time to come home from the swings for supper!

Take care all

ps breast is best, but not for everyone. Each person is different and have many reasons why they don't breastfeed, whether through choice or forced circumstances. I'm with you Firsty, let everyone else decide how they want. but i'm also with you Honey, I don't understand why people don't at least try it and see how it goes! What isn't explained openly enough is how blo8dy difficult it can be and how you have to persevere for a while until it becomes second nature - i nearly gave up and i'm so glad I didn't!

Chooster · 02/07/2007 21:53

Hi,

So so so sorry to hear your news rainbow... We'll all be thinking of you. Its just so bloody difficult sometimes isn't it.

Sorry for my absence - no, I promise I haven't been sneaking away having my LO - would I do that to you lot?!? You'll probably all know its kicking off before DH! . We've been away at my parents for the weekend (long weekend too!) It was really good fun and DS was a great great form. He just seems to have grown up so quickly in the last couple of months.

Ooooh, I know Bodders - those VVV's are giving me hassle as well - the pressure is awful and I also have visions of them pulsating and fit to burst when I'm pushing junior out . Mmmm, nice image eh!

Sorry to hear about your work Fettle, well done for standing your ground and hopefully it will all start settling down soon. 8 weeks isn't long... Mat leave here you come

Firsty - sorry you had that reaction at your class about returning to work. I remember being at my NCT class and that subject came up. I was the first to answer and said I was going back full time after 6 months. I kind of expected others to say something similar but it was either SAHM or "we'll see". I'm pretty sure they will have looked at me the same way as they did to you. But, you have to do what you have to do. Niether makes you a better or worse mum - you are merely doing your best xx

Greeds - I love your dirty dreams!!! I've had a 'peeing' dream before and the wierd thing was in my dream I really got off on it - what does that mean!!!...... Perhaps its my S&M side coming out. Did I ever tell you guys that my ex-boyfriend went out with a S&M dominatrix after me .

Welcome back Iwillbe - Very pleased to hear you had a good birthday! Congratulations!! And for coming out to your friends and family

So.... how many more sleeps - I think officially I've got about another 20 nights but who knows... getting loads of braxton's and I feel like I'm getting Morning Sickness back again - I've had these nauseous moments for the last few days. Bluuuurrrghhhhh.

Anyway, best be off - need to find a number for a beauty salon that's brave enough to take on the muff trim I'm planning. Actually can i ask you ladies something. When you go to get waxed, do you get your under-carriage waxed too? And if so how do you ask for it? And (Bodders) do you think I should with VVV's? I want a nice good tidy up but there's no point the front looking OK if the underneath bit still looks like a womble. I mean thats the bit thats going to looked at a lot? .

Treating myself to a (head) haircut too!!! Yippeeee.....

Chooster · 02/07/2007 21:55

Oh, and my left thigh is constantly numb these days... Do you think thats wierd, or just pressure on a nerve??

Bodkin · 03/07/2007 09:53

Chooooooooostttttteeeeerrrrr! Your back! I have missed you terribly - your last post just had me cracking up with your muff trim dilemma Not sure the best advice about waxing, as I'm a "wild meadow" (with occasional pruning) rather than "croquet lawn" kinda gal... I wouldn't dare let anyone down there at the moment though - christ, it's like something out of Alien (was that a bit toooo graphic ) I'd save the money and spend it on a pedicure or facial or something pleasurable at this stage of the game, and leave the muff preening in time for your first, post-baby shag!

Firsty - that's wonderful that you've finished work early - hope you are not toooo exhausted and that you've got enough puff left to enjoy your mat leave!

Fettle - well done on standing your ground at work. It's a bit frustrating that they were so "oh never mind" about it though, after all the stress it has caused you

Oooh, Honeyapple, bet you got a bit of a lump in your throat seeing DD in her school uniform.... can't believe mine will be doing the same this time next year....

My mother is arriving at some stage today. Poor woman can't do anything right.... she has already irritated me, just with the message she left on the answering machine... (I suggested we all go for a nice family fish and chip supper tomorrow eve - me, my DD and DP, and my sister and her 2 DCs... she is in the process of turning it in to the Last Supper and inviting the world and his wife... )

Bodkin · 03/07/2007 09:55

Oh, and regards the numb thigh Chooster.... no advice really, but probably baby sitting on a nerve.... and (boring advice coming) maybe mention it to MW?

honeyapple · 03/07/2007 12:20

Hi all,

Rainbowdays . So sorry to hear of your mc. I really dont know what to say, other than I hope that we see you again soon on the graduates thread.

Chooster! A Womble! Ha! I like that one! The problem is that with a bump it is rather difficult to get a good look... I just got this new bikini with short type bottoms... was wearing the other day when I went swimming, all good... until I went to the changing room and realised some pubes had escaped somehow from underneath . Was mortified, fortunatley there had only been a couple of grannies in the pool... no hunky men... just a spotty lifeguard. I went home and had a good chop. But I dont really fancy the full on waxing down too far...

Just bought some dead cheap garden furniture... for sitting out in the rain... I reckon the shops are desperate to shift all their summer stuff. Had to get a young man to take it to the car for me! Felt properly preggers.

Fettle- glad all went well with work- but what a pain for boss to say it didnt matter after all the stress you went through .

Hi All

Chooster, great to see you back - we've missed you. Wouldn't have a clue on the old waxing VVV dilemmma, but if Bodders is worried they might burst when giving birth, I would have though waxing would be a tad uncomfortable! I ought to do some tidying up down there, but waxing scares me somewhat!

Firsty - you enjoy your mat leave, shame you can't get out and about a but more, but with
this weather, do you really want to?

Honey, I can't wait to see my DD in her school uniform in September, although as she's only 3, she only has a sweatshirt, the rest can be own clothes, although she has to wear blue hair bands/ribbons etc! But very grown up, can't believe how quickly they grow! Going to have make sure I really appreciate the baby time with this next one!! Still envious of your lie-in though, Honey, so maybe older ages are better!! Great idea on the garden furniture - if it's waterproof, you can put on your galoshes[sp?!], wellies and umbrellas and enjoy your furniture!!! Besides, we have to have some summer at some point - this time a year ago, DD's sportsday was postponed as it was too hot! This year it's been rained off!! I've bought all these summer maternity clothes, but I'd be better off in my winter ones I had for DD really!

Thank you all for your support over work - feeling much calmer about everything now. thankfully my boss is back now as well, so things are calming down. Although I'm either very dull or have a soporific voice, as I was explaining how one of our systems work and one my new girls kept nodding off!! hope she gets a better night's sleep tonight!

Suppose Greedy's off on her little holiday now - she went without saying good bye!! MrsMc must be back soon though?

Anyway, better go until I bore all of you lot to sleep too!
Take care all
