Ah, Fettle - Maybe the new starter had been up all night worrying about making a good impression Glad things seem a bit calmer for you at work... You're right though, we've got to have a summer at some point. Maybe once us July ladies pop the sun will come out so we can enjoy a good few weeks of nice sunny walks

Glad you are putting your feet up Firsty - it really does make you wonder how you were coping at work doesn't it! My DH and I were on a cleaning mission today... So, we dropped DS at nursery, went shopping to buy new curtains for LO's room, bought lunch, ate lunch, had some rare bedroom action, then snoozed til 2.30pm!!! So much for cleaning and scrubbing the house eh! Still, its great to be off work (again, sorry to those still working!). How is your hair Firsty? You pleased? I'm going tomorrow but not sure whether to go short again - It'll probably be a last minute decision again.

So Greedy is off to Centreparcs eh! Hope she's having fun

Bodders - I SO know what you mean - my mum can often annoy me from over 100 miles away just from a message or phone call . Hope the family fish and chip expedition isn't too traumatic.

Honeyapple - Good call on the garden furniture - I want to get a recliner chair thing, with the idea I could spend the last days of my maternity relaxing in the garden but if this rain keeps up its just not going to happen. Damn those pesky escaping pubes

Lovely to be back chatting to you guys - I missed you all!!!!

Bodkin · 03/07/2007 22:47

Cor Chooster - bedroom action??? in the afternoon???? good grief, what is the world coming to - you should be on your hands and knees cleaning every skirting board in the house Good for you. wish I felt a bit more frisky, poor old DP
Hope you have a good haircut tomorrow - make sure you get something low maintenance!

Fettle - your DD has a sportsday? wow! what kind of sports do they do for 3 year olds? Tantrum-throwing? Long-grump? 100metre dash (in the opposite direction of heavily pregnant mother)
Glad to hear that things have calmed down at work, that must be such a relief.

Firsty - hurrah for your MW getting you signed off! Hope you enjoy your free-time and rest as much as possible so you're fit and ready for giving birth. And don't worry too much about getting anything done - sounds like your DH is a very helpful sort.
Hope you had a good haircut

Ok, really must go to bed now. Was going to have an early night as well!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 04/07/2007 09:24

hello ladies!

so sorry to hear of your mc rainbowdays i dont know what words to say to you other than take very good care of yourself and i really do hope to see you back here again soon.

honey - bargain on the garden furniture! hopefully you may get to use it at some point this year - probably in december when we will have a heatwave or somthing utterly ridiculous the way this year is going!

chooster - lol@womble - i dread to think what il be like in the months to come - i cannot stand hair!!! good on you for squeezing in some afternoon luvvin with dp - get as much in while you can now eh?

firststar - sorry you are still suffering and cannot enjoy your maternity leave as you would have liked - but hey what better excuse than to sit on ya bum with a nice big bar of choccie and daytime tv - BLISS!

bodkin - how were the fish and chips with your mum? im sure she means well but they do get rather tedious dont they. i approached the subject of getting a doula with my mum and she got on her high horse "what the bloody hell do you want one of them for im going to be there for you" so we shall see...

talking of hair cuts i had mine done yesterday, it was halfway down my back and ive had it chopped off up to my jaw - dp hates it lol he says i look like a boy hehe.
i still have morning sickness but ive started throwing up at night now too , when did yours start to subside girls?!

Chooster · 04/07/2007 10:47

PMSL at the long-grump Bodders!!!! Am intrigued too to know what kind of sports day a 3yr old does. I know my DS is only just 3, but I just can't see him taking part in anything vaguely structured.

Mid-afternoon action was fab - I did the skirting boards after!! (Honestly I actually did)

We put the new curtains up in LO's room yesterday and it looks fab!!!! DH has done a really good job... I wanted to make it look nice to I got some of DS's bears that have been put away for over a year and put them up on the shelves. Uh oh... Big mistake - I really should have known better. Needless to say this morning DS got in a huff and re-patriated them all back to his room, plus the new ones that had been bought for DS2 by friends etc... So now DS's room looks like a total state and DS2's room looks totally bare .

Good job getting your hair cut shorter Iwillbe - much more manageable eh... Whenever I go something a bit wierd with my hair I try to sell it to DH that it will be like having a new woman in bed .

Actaully DH is not a fan of you ladies anymore as I told him that the general consensus was the leave the muff region untamed until after the baby comes and he started mumbling something about 'bloody mumsnet'....

MrsMcJnr · 04/07/2007 12:43

Hello ladies back from my lovely relaxing holiday in the sun have to say, it is a little depressing to be back with all the miserable weather and terrorist threats and work of course but at least I get to talk to you all again and see my pussy cats who I missed madly

So what?s been happening ? can you all tell me your bit? There?s no way I can catch up!

All seems to be fine here (touch wood!) MS kicked in was a vengeance in week 10 (as you know) and I did suffer a bit on holiday, I also caught a horrible bug from my cousin?s baby (he infected 13 people and my FIL ended up in A&E!) I was very ill for about 24 hours but then it lingered for about 3 days. Lost ½ stone but was really careful not to get dehydrated so hopefully the baby is ok. Have a little (brown ) bump now, and bought some mat clothes with my Mum which was fun I have an obstetric appointment tomorrow so hope she might get the Doppler out and give me some reassurance though I know it?s quite early ? I?m now 12+1

firststar - haha @getting the appointment mixed up - and they didnt even offer to try and squeeze you in? being a heavily pregnant woman and all i would have thought thatd be the least they could do! better luck today

chooster - your poor ds do you think the jealousy is starting to kick in? that is funny though that not only did he take his own but the new ones too...i feel some bribary coming on maybe?! always worked with me.....

mrsmcjnr - so nice to have you back glad you had a nice relaxing time but sorry to hear of your sickness 12+1 that is fantastic news, when is your next scan?
news from me - i had bday in dublin which was fab, had my early scan at 9 weeks everything was great saw baby and a thumping heartbeat it was very overwhelming. still throwing up here too been 4 weeks now! i also have a baby bump but im very of your brown bump!!
i am 10 weeks now

MrsMcJnr · 04/07/2007 15:05

I?ve tried to have a brief catch up since Monday

Hi Honeyapple glad you have the smoking ban too now, I?ve loved it for the last year here in Scotland On the BF subject, I will try as hard as I can and I really hope I succeed. DD must have looked sweet in that uniform!

Hello again Firsty glad to hear that you are now a lady of leisure and can relax! I bet you wonder now how you managed to stay at work so long!

Rainbowdays I am so sorry hon ? I know we haven?t met before but I know your pain and am thinking about you.

Hello Bodders hope your Mum is being less annoying!

Hey Fettle ? hope work gets better the end is in sight!

Chooster-of-leisure ? how are you? sounds like you had fun down South! Hope you get your waxing! My sis was refused a Brazilian a few weeks before she gave birth! Think that is what you want really ? make sure they leave a landing strip though! ? reading on it sounds like you?ve decided to leave it ? well hey, what you can?t see doesn?t really matter does it!

Hello Iwillbe just read a book called the Best Friends? Guide to Pregnancy, it was hilarious and also had a lot of good tips ? one being not to cut your hair when pg! It was too late for me too, I had mine cut from bra strap to shoulder and DH HATES it! I?ve been quite sick for the last few weeks ? at weird times of day too ? mostly just excess saliva but still not pleasant! what happens next for you appointment wise?

Hello to anyone I have missed

MrsMcJnr · 04/07/2007 15:10

Crossed with you Iwillbe 10 weeks ? wow! my next scan is my dating scan on 20/7 when I?ll be 14+3. It seems so long ago since my 8 week scan. I really hope I hear some kind of affirmation tomorrow that all is ok! In my heart I think it is though Glad your B?day went well belated congratulations!! so glad the scan went well it?s incredible how a week can make so much difference in terms of development isn?t it? DH says I want a brown baby (Waynetta Slob style) and that?s why I have a brown bump

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 04/07/2007 15:17

i think i am actually just over 10 weeks its sad but ive lost count! i have jelly brain!
my dating scan is on 19/07 im so excited to see the difference, still slightly nervous that i wont see a developed baby but judging my sickness and still sore boobs - i think all is well.
i have also got bloods on 17/07 so lots to look forward too.
i never knew you shouldnt cut your hair whilst pg - whats the reason behind that? men just dont seem to understand its so much easier for us to manage! im sure yours looks lovely - mine just excentuates my chubby cheeks and expanding double chin

i dont know if you knew but rainbowdays was mum03 from temping buddies

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 04/07/2007 15:21

i forgot to say, my friend heard the babys heart beat at 12 weeks which stunned the midwife she said it was unusual as it was still a few weeks early.
i hope everything goes well for you tomorrow, im sure it will xx and im with you on the excess saliva also i was trying to describe it to dp as he hears me every morning reaching at 5:30. TMI i feel like a dog eating grass - i just puke white froth!! ewwwwwww

MrsMcJnr · 04/07/2007 15:47

Sounds like you are very calm and composed those days after the weeks still really matter to me! My dating scan is the day after yours let?s hope we are celebrating big time together. I know exactly what you mean ? the symptoms tell me not to worry! Are those bloods for booking in ? the tests for you in other words? DH and I are close to making a decision on not having any tests on the baby ? what are your thoughts on the triple test? Re the hair, there?s nothing medical behind it, just that we think we are more gamine then we actually are and that we need the hair to balance out our bodies! It is so much easier though ? I?m getting past the horrible greasy stage now but when I had to wash it daily, the difference in length really helped. I?m sure your bob is very cute on you oh god I was sad enough for Rainbowdays when I thought I didn?t know her but my heart aches for mum03 she?s so lovely ? why is nature so mean?

I think I will be v lucky to hear the HB tomorrow (too much Mummy tummy in the way ) but we?ll see. That?s a very good description of the saliva, that?s exactly what it?s like!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 04/07/2007 16:06

calm and composed = ditzy blonde! i am actually 10+3 today

i really do hope we are celebrating together - we can pop open a virtual non alcoholic bottle of bubbly
the bloods on the 17th are the booking in bloods for hiv and blood group etc, then apparently on the next appointment at 16 weeks is when i get offered the triple test. me and dp have discussed that also and we are opting out of it because even if it done come back that i was high risk i would not risk the 1% chance of mc where they test the amniotic fluid so i think i would rather just not know. what are your thoughts on it?
poor you washing your hair every day! thats such a chore. i realised when i sat in the chair at the salon when she was combing my hair it was literally stretching where i have bleached it so much so i just told her to get rid of it all so now i have a choppy bob - it will grow back i remember in your pic on your profile you had reallylong hair before so it must have been a shock for you too having so much chopped off!

its so sad about mum03 - i missed when she got her bfp and i come back read up on that then read the sad news after. life is a bitch sometimes it really is i just hope its not too long before she falls again. i did read on the thread earlier that she is feeling a bit brighter today ((hugs to her))

loving the description on mummy tummy! i might have to use that one.....
my bump is that big (its not really but its a lot bigger than before i was pg) that the otehr day i stood there with my arms folded and my nan pointed out i had a lovely little arm rest ie bump lol its strange because i havnt put on any weight yet so i know its all baby

MrsMcJnr · 04/07/2007 16:37

I have a confession? my Mum opened a tiny bottle of bubbly on holiday and I fancied a glass with her ? that was until I smelt and tasted it ? urgghhh! Very disappointing! It was Moet too!

Your thoughts on the triple test are exactly the same as ours I think we will pay for a 20 week anomaly scan though ? just so that if the baby needs anything special, the medics are aware of it. It?s a relief to hear someone else with this view, most people I have spoken to take every test offered.

I know what you mean about Mum03 .

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 04/07/2007 16:45

i dont blame you on having a bit of bubbly! shame it wasnt enjoyable though

how are you doing with drinking coca cola i think it was on the weightloss thread ages ago you said it was your vice? did you stop completely? cherry coke has been the only thing to get me through the sickness but i have now switched to ribena (not sure which is worse really) i just cant face drinking water all the time even though i know thats better for me and baby!

i dont see the point in grabbing every test going unless there is a need for it, i think you have to weigh up personal circumstance and thoughts and for us the triple test is a no.

i just read on another thread that where you are you dont get a 20 week scan how bad is that? i would definately pay for one in your shoes! i have also been told i might not get one as our hospital is over run but i am going to pay for a private 4d sexing scan at 27 weeks.

are you still going to be getting a doula?

Chooster · 04/07/2007 18:33

Hi everyone - Welcome back MrsMc!!!! Wow, a lovely brown tummy... that must look so cute Great news you are at 12+1. Good luck with your appointment - am sure you'll get some nice re-assurance somehow.

News from me in a nutshell is stopped work, am on iron tablets now which play havoc with my toilet visits , LO's room is almost done (minus toys) - Hooray!!!! All in all everything is well. Am now 37+2, time is whizzing by .

Well, had haircut today and am fairly pleased. I went short-ish in the end again - I knew I would really.

Your new hair sounds fab Iwillbe!!!

honeyapple · 04/07/2007 19:44

Hi all,

Mrsmc- lovely to hear from you. Glad to hear your holiday was fab and that you are already 12+1! It is awful about Mum03. We were all so excited for her.

Iwill- good haircut . I am still plucking up courage to go get mine done... It was supposed to be my bday pressie from DP... but I havent got round to it yet. I dont really know what to have done, that's the problem.

Today for the first time I have started to feel uncomfy in the tummy area. I think LO must have had a bit of a growth spurt or something cos I suddenly keep noticing my belly.

Hope Greedy is having fun in Centerparcs.

fettleandminifettle · 04/07/2007 20:06

Hi all

Welcome back Mrs - glad you had a good holiday! I'm completely with you and Iwillbe on the test front. Knew i wouldn't take it any further due to the mc risk and even if something showed up, I just couldn't have an abortion as this baby is so wanted, we will deal with whatever nature throws at us! Therefore, there just didn't seem any point in knowing that there might be an increased risk. Brown bump sounds great! very jealous -no opportunity for a holiday here. Only time off is for moving house in mid-August, then DH is straight back to work tos ave holiday for post-birth. Sorry to hear you weren't well while you were away, but glad to hear you sounding so positive. With my DD, my MW did hear a heartbeat at 12 weeks, but it took a long time, so I would definitely say, don't expect anything - if you do that's great, if you don't then that's also fine!

All well here - had a bit of a scare on Saturday with some bleeding, but was given the all clear, but it gave me the impetus to push back at work for all the extra stuff they were throwing at me. Since doing that, all is fine! Actually enjoying work again - my new starter obviously slept better last night and although she still looked bored at times, she at least kept her eyes open today!!

All these new hair cuts - I'm jealous. Although I had mine done back in April, also went from mid-back to shoulder length, bit of a shock, but I love it now - much more movement and character in it. Not a very frequent hair-dresser goer me - seem to be blessed with very good conditioned, healthy hair, so it takes a while to need a cut (they always comment on it, whenever I go, but I'm sure it's because I'm a wash and comb girl, no hair drying, straightening, just go with the flow!, therefore no heat damage - DH says I should comb it more and he is right, but I can't be done with high-maintenance haircuts. As long as I can tie it back for labour and once baby is born, I'll be happy!.

Chooster, LOL at your DH - "bloody mumsnet" is something my DH is always saying!!! He's with your DH about lady garden trimming, but I ain't doing a braziliam for noone while pg! Afternoon bedroom action - my DH would be very of that!!!

Firsty - poor you getting all the way to the hairdresser and being on the wrong day. What is it about being pg that mushes your brain. I was trying to explain to DD that baby was eating my brain and that was why I couldn't remember everything. Then remembered that shouldn't say things like that to toddlers, as they take everything literally! she's a bit worried about me now!

Sportsday is actually quite fun at the nursery (there are no winners, everyone gets a certificate, but who are they kidding, all the parents are there shouting for their little one!). They do it teams, so it is a team effort. Little ones (anyone who can walk) take part in the running race. Slightly older ones do more complicated races, where they have to put their hats on mid-race and then continue, or run with a bean bag on the head, or step through a hoop mid-way. and the obligatory egg and spoon race. there is the parent's race and the staff do a sack race, which is hilarious! Great fun really - was really looking forward to DH coming this year, as he missed it last summer as he was in Iraq and the summer before DD couldn't walk well enough to take part.

Hello Bodders - hope you are ok? Sorry, DH has just turned up with supper, so I need to go now, I'll try and pop back later!

Hi everyone else I've missed!

xxx

Bodkin · 04/07/2007 20:40

Hi All

Welcome back MrsMc - so lovely to hear you sounding refreshed and happy after your hols and your brown bump sounds v. cute Sorry to hear about the sickness bug, but on the positive side, it must mean that your little bean is a good strong one to hang on through that.

My news is that I'm now 38 weeks (not long to go at all!), so it's got to that stage where i keep saying, "next time I see so-and-so, or go to such and such, we'll have the baby with us" My kitchen has had a complete facelift and looks fab. All the plumbers, decorators etc have finished, now it's up to us to put everything back where it belongs! We're about 75% there, but hope to get it all sorted by the weekend.

Aw, your sportsday sounds like great fun Fettle, shame it was rained off.

Hi to everyone else - feeling a bit brain-dead tonight and knackered... my mum has now departed, so I can stop biting my tongue and let my shoulders drop a few notches

Not waffly at all Firsty! Great to hear from you. Hairdressers are hugely expensive, but if you find a good one, its probably worth it. My problem is that I keep trying new ones. Dunno why... .

Sports day sounds like a riot Fettle!!! Shame it didn't happen this year, but you've got plenty more to go to

Regarding the tests, I'm of the 'take every test offered' school of thought (obviously not amnio / cvs without good reason), but then my reasons are based on recent experience and subsequent paranoia. In my last pregnancy my babys condition was so severe that if he did by some miracle make it to term, he would have died at birth. In that situation the more information you have the better, however I can understand your opinions on the tests and wouldn't try to convince someone that modern tests are necessarily a good thing. Ah... sorry to bring a morbid tone in - Just ignore me, the closer I come to having this baby the more worried and anxious I get. I just really want a good positive birth experience to balance out my last one. Must stay postive, must stay postive, must stay positive...

Anyway better be off - Got a pub quiz to write before Friday as have some friends coming round... If anyone can think of good questions then let me know!!! Am using the internet for a lot of inspiration

Bodkin · 04/07/2007 22:29

Sorry to hear the old worries are niggling away at you Chooster - it's only natural at this stage of the game... a mix of hormones and the sheer unpredictability of it all. I keep hearing the name Ina somebody over on the childbirth threads, who writes about childbirth in a really positive way, so am thinking getting hold of her book for some positive inspiration.

Anyway, just need to have a mini-rant..... Yes, it's started. No, not labour, but the utter deluge of total crap that (I suppose well meaning) people give you when you're having a baby! Call me ungrateful, I don't care! I have just unwrapped the latest offering from my mum (I was waiting til she'd gone, so I didn't ahve to hide my horror) which even she herself said, "well, it's a bit hideous"!!! Why f*king give it to me then! It is THE MOST HIDEOUS TOY I HAVE EVER SEEN. A huge sort of weird clown freak thing with a pink spotty top, LIME green feet and hands, purple and yellow hat. Just disgusting. straight to Charidee, not that any sane person would buy it. She also bought with her a present from one of her friends. Not too bad, 2 pairs of booties - but I've got about 20,000 pairs of unworn booties left over from DD, so they'll be off in the morning with the clown freak.
Aaaaaaannnnndddddd, deep breath, aaaaannnnndddddd, relax. Ah, that's better. Thank you for listening

Bodkin · 04/07/2007 22:38

Oooh, i have a good question for you Chooster, if I can remember it properly... It is something like, "Where did Charles Dickens succeed Charles Darwin" (or perhaps the other way round, you'll have to check) The answer is on a £10 note. It was at the last pub quiz I went to a few months back and I remember it cos it was about the only question I got right

honeyapple · 05/07/2007 14:02

Hiya!

Just got back from buying a new bed at long last... have been talking about it for ages... and just making do with our current bed that is about to fall apart! Anyway, I mentioned to DP that of course he knows I may well be giving birth on the new bed... he looked slightly alarmed and muttered something about plastic sheets...

Wow Bodders- 2 weeks to go! That is very exciting. I need to look at the due date list again, keep forgetting where everyone is.

DD has a sports day at her playgroup which is great fun too.
