Hi all,

Good news about MrsMcJ. Thanks for passing on the info Chooster.

Greedy- I think it would be feasible for you to work a few hours a week when your baby is born, however I wouldnt like you to leave that as your only option. If you ended up having a C-section or something (hope not of course!), this wouldnt be so practical. Actually newborn babies are pretty easy to look after- it is just the night times, when you get SO tired.
My DD had me up in the night, and today I feel totally shattered. .

Just saw little 3 week old baby... I still havent really realised that I will have one of those in a few months time . I think after my scan then I will be able to bond a bit better. At the moment it's just this weird thing that moves around inside me... kind of Alien like .

greedygreedyguzzler · 07/06/2007 12:46

my baby patient was gorgeous today! didnt cry at all and was really chilled out. unfortunately (for me!) she is much better and i dont need to see her again! shame!

i did have to endure 40 mins of baby talk though! the mum did that thing where i would ask her a question and she would put on a stupid voice as if the baby was answering me........................i said "and how are you feeling this week?" to the mum and she said (in a stupid baby voice) "my mummy is feeling much better this week now that i am sleeping better"
i dont think she answered one of my questions without pretending it was the baby answering me!

i dont mind a bit of babytalk, but not exclusively babytalk and nothing else!

greedygreedyguzzler · 07/06/2007 12:53

god im a miserable cow sometimes!

fettleandminifettle · 07/06/2007 13:06

Greeds - I would suggest that your patient's mother had gone mad!!! hope that's not us when we have 8 week old babies!!!

Hope you do get something sorted Greedy - I don't envy you that extra stress at the moment. Think i'll stick with moving house at 35 weeks pg - much more relaxing!!

Good news about Mrs - hope it is still all ok.

hope everyone else is doing well today. At my desk having lunch again, so forcing myself to have a break talking to you guys!!

By the way, Greedy - My DH is such a Breast fan, it is exhausting sometimes! Why I find it slightly wierd that he is more in love with my baby bump at the moment! Perhaps it is clever on his part, making me miss his obession, that I don't complain when he returns his affections to higher up!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 07/06/2007 13:09

fettle - i think my dh is the only man in the world not into boobs then! shame really! maybe its because he has some of his own he's not that arsed about mine1

Greedy - pmsl at your moobs (man boobs) comment! My DP is paranoid about his, but I don't think they're too bad.

Firsty, I've not gone totally Pammy either, I suppose I am just about filling a D cup, when i'm normally a C. But when your milk comes in, you will be in for a shock! I looked like I had those comedy fake boobs on last time!

Glad to hear MrsMc is OK, thanks for the update.

Feeling very hot, fat, pregnant and grim. Oooh, me vvvs are killing me! Serves me right for teasing Chooster - well, I wasn't really teasing her, just trying to make light of a grim situation

Oh Bodders - whats goes around comes around eh!?! Sorry your VVV's are causing you hassle. Mine are kind of OK - still there mind, guess I'm getting more used to the feeling. God, I really hope they do go away Firsty! I was just thinking how embarassed I'll be in labour with the world and his wife looking at them - but then I remembered back to DS's birth and realised I wont care at all!

Aaaaarrrgggggh, she sounds like a freaky baby woman Greedy. I can't bear that high pitched squeaky baby talk. Its OK when you are talking to your baby, but not answering a question from another adult. Good that the baby is better - can I ask why the baby was being treated? Just interested what sort of things can be handled with chiro.

Shame you dont live in Hampshire as my friend is a McTimoney practitioner and would probably have been up for keeping your appointments going. Are you in touch with any of your colleagues who could fill in the odd session if you are not recovering as quickly as you would like. Sorry, I probably dont understand it and I guess thats what a locum does anyway Maybe I'll keep my thoughts to myself

Thats a tricky one Firststar. I was due to go back full time after DS's birth but decided on part time initially just to get me and him used to our new routine. Dont mean to sound negative, but by 4 months you are really only settling down to things and it just may be a bit hard to be away for 5 days a week. Just a personal opinion though, but I would hate for you to set a standard and feel you were failing because you weren't ready for full time work as early as you'd thought.

Oh yes the wonderful days of breast feeding boobs. I got married when DS was 4 months old and my bangers (to use a Gok word - please tell me someone else watches "how to look good naked"?) looked fab!!!! Great for the photo's

Oh I know what you mean - I'm desperate to be "Gok'd" once LO pops out and I've (hopefully) lost some of the baby weight. I thought this weeks woman looked stunning at the end in her undies and she seemed so confident. The programme always brings a tear to my eye at the bit when they show the husband / family watching the catwalk show. Its gets me every time . Its one of my favourite programmes...

And while talking about telly, what about the apprentice... Its only my second time watching it so am not an authority on it at all! But didn't it seem a bit quick last night how that posh bird went from being in the final to pulling out.

Chooster · 07/06/2007 15:24

Oops, sorry if anyone sky plus-d the apprentice to watch it tonight

Sorry I disappeared yesterday ? threw myself into work and tried to forget about the spotting. It seems a lot less today so I am feeling happier. I spoke to the midwife at the EPU who I?d seen on Tues and she said to keep an eye on things but that brown blood was old and so had not been to do with a bleed in the preceding 24 hours and therefore, what we saw on the scan should be the right state of affairs but if the spotting got red, I was to go in immediately as they would have to manage the Clexane as well as re-scan me. She did say it is not unusual to spot at this stage. I have a haem appointment on Monday and my booking in on Weds so will mention it to both of them. Let?s hope there is no more!

Going to try to catch up now

MrsMcJnr · 07/06/2007 16:29

Thanks Firsty and Scorpio and Bodkin

Fettle ? thank you, good point about the placenta Glimmer on the pg after MC is feeling the same as you about her DH preferring the bump to her boobs!

Interesting chat about SAHM v Working I haven?t got that far in thinking yet but know I?ll have to bring in money somehow.

Hello Honeyapple

Chooster ? thanks hon for keeping the ladies posted

Greedy thanks hon, I don?t know that I have cervical erosions but that is what I am suspecting. After 18 years on the pill it is highly likely and the fact that the spotting happened on the day AF would have been due is too spooky to be a coincidence I guess. My DH is defiantly a boob man and loving the new enhanced assets ? just as well as it keeps the focus off the rest of me which is all pretty horrid right now! Enjoy blooming! So glad the baby patient was good today! PMSL about the babytalk!

hi girls

mrsmcjnr - im sorry to hear that you started spotting yesterday but it sounds like it is tailing off now and i really hope it stops! brown blood is a good sign though as far as bleeding is concerned. take it easy and try not to stress yourself out with worry as thats one of the worst things to do. im sure you will be fine sweety xx

greedy - your 8 week old patient sounds gorg! shame about the psychotic mummy! sum1 plz shoot me if i go that do lally after giving birth and brave you for even considering going back to work after 2 weeks of giving birth!!

im very of all of your (o)(o) enlarging!! im so looking forwrd to when mine bloom even though dp isnt a boob man i have always wanted big bazookas and i also intend on attempting breast feeding so i think that all goes in my favour

bodkin - OUCH at your vvvs, this is probably so naieve but i think i know what they are but not 100% could you clarify or sum1?!

hello to everyone else i did think of quite a bit to say but now i have forgotten

today i have had 24/7 nausea and cannot stomach eating anything i am constantly dry wretching so i am changing the envy sign to a sickness sign

i have now finished work for 12 days so hopefully i will feel a but perkier by the time i have to go back.

on the subject of sahm v working mums, i have had several in depth convos with dp about this and he wants me to be a sahm but....i am unsure i think i would feel too isolated and trapped tbh but we have a long time to think things over and come to a decision.

right im going to have a bath now before jordan and peter and have a ginger biscuit to try and settle my stomach.

chow xx

honeyapple · 07/06/2007 19:51

Evening!

Just got back from parent induction meeting at school for when DD starts in September. Am really pleased because she will have a teacher that DS had- who is really lovely . Only know one other child in her class from her playgroup... so lots of new mums/dads/kids to get to know.

Greedy- just to say, that mum sounded awful... what is it with some women?

Bodders- sorry to hear about your sore bits. I sometimes feel a bit of pressure down there when I stand for too long... too scared to have a look though.

Iwill- I really like being a SAHM- I find lots to do. There are always baby groups to join etc.. where you get to talk to mad babytalking mothers!!! NO, not all of them... some amazingly sane ones too... I guess it can be boring and isolating sometimes... but it can also be very fulfilling. I will find it strange with this LO because my other 2 will both be at school, so it'll be a bit like having an only child in the daytime.

Anyway, got to put DD to bed... then going to read through the bumpf the school gave me on uniforms and school dinners... like I don't already know anything about them .

seaside72 · 07/06/2007 21:33

Evening all

MrsMc - so glad the bleeding has subsided and you are feeling better. Like everyone has said it does seem to be really common and no one tells you that. And I can imagine how scary it must be when you have had a bad experience before. {{{big hugs}}}

greedy 8week old baby sounds so gorgeous (mum sounds like a loon!)- you are obviulsy working your magic if the last time was all screams and this time calm - well done I am def taking my babies for cranial osteopathy.

Iwillbe right there with you on the nausea - have to say mine does feel better if I get out and do stuff but it is always there in the background - agree with the for sickness not envy! My hair is still greasy and now I have a spotty forehead to match! At least my greasy fringe covers it And still soooo tired all the time - I went to bed at 8.30pm last night but if I nap too much I don't sleep well at night - arghhh. Don't know how you girls with LOs already do it - hats off to you all!

Bodkin I am confused about the vvv's too but not sure i want to know!!

Chooster love Gok - although Trinny & Susannah were back on last night - I am torn!!

fettle sounds like you are working too hard - lunch at your desk Hope it eases up soon.

firststar I am with you - very jealous of all this talk of "banger" sizes also!! Mine are barely there anyway and show no signs of changing Hope you get some good sleep tonight

honeyapple Good news about your school meeting. When is your next scan? Will you have a 4D one?

SAHM vs working is such a hard one - I think that I am lucky enough to bypass the whole issue as both DH and I are self-employed and work from home so in theory we will just have to manage our time well . I have a massive work project that is just about to start and will hopefully be finishing up by the time baby comes (bar some paperwork) so hopefully I will be able to take a bit of time completely off after birth. - Who knows!! Bit like greedy though - being self-employed can be difficult as the work does not really go away - and if you do let it then it is hard to get back. I feel incredibly lucky though and am very happy with my situation (although of course winning the lottery would be very welcome!!)

Hope everyone's OK - prob wont be around much till mid next week as going away for work until then.

MrsMcJnr · 08/06/2007 14:07

Thanks Firsty

Iwillbe thanks hon trust me, there is such thing as too much of a good thing but then again, above the boobs is not looking too hot right now so maybe its ok that people?s eyes rest there ? officially have no suit jackets that do up over them now! I hope your MS is much better soon it sounds indulgent but ½ a digestive at the weekends before I get out of bed does see me through a long lie and a shower and to my breakfast before the MS really kicks in. 12 days off should help! Doing anything nice?

Honeyapple all bodes well for DD and her school

Seaside ? sounds like you are feeling totally as you should right now ? ugghh! I know what you mean about the sickness in the background, a full on barf is always only a bad smell away! The increased sense of smell drives me insane, in the check in queue at the airport last Sat, the booze I smelt off the other people (it was 6am!) was disgusting!

Anyone bought a birth book for their baby? I was looking at them at lunchtime (they are in mat section in book shop) made me think maybe I should buy one soon or else I won?t know the answers to half the questions! my Mum was really diligent with ours and I have mine now, every single thing completed, it?s lovely to have!

Chooster · 08/06/2007 14:24

uuurrrgh, sorry to those with MS - its grim isn't it. I remember those dark days well but it will pass - just keep thinking "this isn't forever!!". I have no tips, nothing worked for me apart from eating constantly seemed to help (not with my waistline though!).

For those who are curious VVV's are vaginal varicose veins - Mmmmm, nice eh!! I didn't have anything like that with DS, but there they are in all their purple glory this time round. It gives you an uncomfortable feeling of pressure down there - particularly when you go to the loo . They dont look good either, but I'm hiding mine behind an untrimmed lady garden!

You doing anything good with your 12 days off Iwillbe?

Seaside - sounds like you've got the best of both worlds! what is it you do if you dont mind me asking (just curious ).

Great news about th school for DD honeyapple. Its going to be lovely for you to spend time with the baby with the other 2 at school. Talking about feeling isolated as a SAHM, sometimes I've felt a bit isoated from my friends who are SAHM's because I'm a working mum. You can feel like you are missing out on some of the activites you can do with your LO. Pah - ist just a tough call all round really!

Hi all - Chooster, you beat me too it with the gory details of VVVs! I think mine feel worse at the mo because the weather is really hot and humid. I daren't let DP see down there though - good god, the man would never come near me again!

Just been and bought some teeny-weeny baby clothes (have loads of 0-3 month stuff from DD, but seem to remember for the first 3-4 weeks she was completely swamped by them, and as this bump is still looking pretty neat, I think it might be another smallish one. It's hard finding unisex stuff that is nice though...

run out of time to say hello to everyone properly, more later.

BTW Where's Babymad these days?

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 08/06/2007 17:41

hellloooooooooooo!!

so after 24 hours feeling hideously sick yesterday - the sickness has kicked in and i have puked 5 times today - LOVELY! but i am actually pleased in a weird way as it must be a sign all is well with bubs

to all that asked, with my time off we are flying out too dublin on wednesday for my 21st so i shall be away for a few days! i cant wait, i ordered a whole stash of new clothes (thought i might aswell enjoy my slimish figure before it gets banished forever!) which will end up at the back of my wardrobe in a few weeks time but hey you only live once

seaside - loving the greasy fringe! lol i am plastered with spots and greasy skin too its awful! but all for a good cause. wow you must have a very strong and patient relationship with dh if you work together - me and dp would end up killing eachother with that amount of time together. have a good trip speak soon xx

mrsmcjnr - hows the spotting? hope its all cleared up you sound happier today anyway! i have ordered a baby book from the book club at work which lasts until 1 yr but me and dp are also going to do a video diary of bump growing and making the nursery etc, i am also going to have a 4d scan done after seeing jordan have hers on tv last night - its a must! that made me cringe imagining other peoples skanky breaths! luckily i dont have that problem at the mo because i cant smell a damn thing! hayfever!

honeyapple - i do thik being a sahm would be brill but im more than likely to go back to work for 16/20 hrs per week just for a bit of my own independance. glad the school induction went well we have all this to look forward too first timers wooo! how lovely to have time with baby alone though without worrying about the other two getting up to mischief!

chooster - thanks for describing the vvvs all i have to say on that matter is OUCH!!

sorry i have to go dp is nagging me to get off pc catch up later for all those i missed

fettleandminifettle · 08/06/2007 20:24

Hello all

End of a busy week thank goodness - was looking forward to a relaxing weekend, being looked after by DD and DH, but......DH has man flu (if you ask me, he looks perfectly healthy!!) and DD has just been sick, so looks like I'll be looking after them!! hopefully a good night sleep will sort them both out!

I've been catching up intermittently throughout the day and now forgotten what is going on! Forgive my pg mush-like brain!

Iwillbe - enjoy Dublin, your birthday and your figure - although you're young, so I'm sure you'll get it back in no time after the birth.

Congratulations everyone on the sickness!! It is really reassuring! I remember it well - doesn't seem that long ago - can't believe I'm 24 weeks already!

Hope you all have fantastic weekends. Hope this weather holds, but i have a feeling that it might be raining at some point!

take care all
