I keep thinking about blue veined cheeses, Brie, pate and runny eggs and lovely glasses of cold white white! My husband sits next to me of an evening drinking lovely cold beer and I’m afraid that’s my becks blue just isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong I’m so excited to be pregnant but when I’m told I can’t have something it does make me want it more! Anyone else?

Runny eggs are allowed aren’t they? And a little bit of Brie should be ok.

m4rdybum · 16/05/2018 13:08

Eggs are fine if they have the red lion :)

I'm just missing proper tea and coffee.

moreismore · 16/05/2018 13:09

I have been eating all of the above...Grin But totally understand those who choose not to!

I’m with you on the white wine tho, recent discoveries that may help: rawson’s retreat alcohol free prosecco, stowford press low alcohol (under 0.5%) cider and Tesco premixed no alcohol G&T cans!

UniqueAsAUnicorn · 16/05/2018 13:09

Yes! But...good news...lion code eggs are safe to eat runny!

Are they? I think maybe my books are a bit out dated.

Proper coffee! I’m sick of drinking tea that smells of fish!!!

There’s a good section in the book ‘expecting better’ on this

Matilda1981 · 16/05/2018 13:11

Some Stilton is now pasteurised so you can eat that! Also, as posters above have said the range on non alcoholic drinks is great nowadays - I like te San Miguel 0% and Kopperburg 0% fruit ciders - haven’t dared try the prosecco yet in case it’s a disappointment!! And yes, you can eat runny eggs!

hammeringinmyhead · 16/05/2018 13:14

Wine, yes, but I like Heineken 0% so that's tiding me over. I'm eating stilton in place of soft blue cheese, can't even look at an egg, and don't like shellfish but oh, the wine. And rhubarb gin.

SoyDora · 16/05/2018 13:14

Proper tea and coffee is fine as long as you stick to 200mg per day. That’s one good strong coffee.

FranticallyPeaceful · 16/05/2018 13:18

Paté. Not particularly interested before but have wanted it the whole way through pregnancy Hmm

SoyDora · 16/05/2018 13:18

FranticallyPeaceful apparently it was all my MIL fancied when she was pregnant with my DH, and she ate loads of the stuff. This was before it was banned!

SoyDora · 16/05/2018 13:19

I still feel too sick to eat anything Envy, all I can stomach is toast and rich tea biscuits.

franktheskank · 16/05/2018 13:25

I eat all of that stuff and I drink coffee, only a couple of cups a day though, I've done the same with l7 of mine so not changing now.

franktheskank · 16/05/2018 13:25

7 not 17Grin

ellsharks · 16/05/2018 13:26

I'm desperate for a baked Camembert but I'm now being told your allowed it 🙈

Paie · 16/05/2018 13:27

A medium- rare steak.
And mr whippy ice cream.
Sad

TammySwansonTwo · 16/05/2018 13:30

I had one proper latte every day (we have a bean to cup machine). I also ate saucisson, but froze it first.

One of my twins had IUGR - I know logically it had nothing to do with drinking a coffee a day but I still have the guilt pangs in case it was something I did.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 16/05/2018 13:31

Runny eggs are now safe if they have the lion mark, which I think all eggs sold in the UK have. Soft cheeses like Camembert are ok as long as they are cooked through to piping hot.
I drank normal tea and diet coke throughout my pregnancies, I only cut down coffee and had mostly decaf.

PJsAndProsecco · 16/05/2018 13:38

Oh man. My favourite rose wine will be waiting in the fridge for me once this baby is out! And I miss McFlurry's and proper tea and coffee. And deli meats with brie and camembert. Mouth watering now!!

Ebeneser · 16/05/2018 13:41

So far I'm missing my banana bread beer, red wine and rare steaks !
I've found some good non-alcoholic lagers but I'm now paranoid about empty calories and too much added sugar so very rarely drink any.

Thetimehascometo · 16/05/2018 13:56

Pate, prosecco, camabert and gin! Mmmm roll on July!

TooRight · 16/05/2018 14:02

Alcoholic drinks throughout both pregnancies. I'm not even a big drinker but I craved wine, cocktails and even beer which I don't even like. Youngest DD is now 6 months old and I've still not had a drink because the craving went as soon as I gave birth Hmm

aetw · 16/05/2018 14:05

I keep wondering if I could just get away with eating a tiny bit of soft blue cheese. I’ve tried the non alcoholic processco, it’s so sweet!!! Yuck!

BumbleNova · 16/05/2018 14:20

I am eating soft cheese. I read expecting better by Emily oster and my view is the risk is so tiny, I'll eat the cheese. Have you ever met anyone who has got listeria from cheese?!
