I keep thinking about blue veined cheeses, Brie, pate and runny eggs and lovely glasses of cold white white! My husband sits next to me of an evening drinking lovely cold beer and I’m afraid that’s my becks blue just isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong I’m so excited to be pregnant but when I’m told I can’t have something it does make me want it more! Anyone else?

Apparently you are more likely to get listeria from bagged salad than cheese, and yet salad isn't banned?

I ate some brie at a wedding along with a small glass of prosecco when I was about 15 weeks twas delicious

I did avoid Mr whippys and Mcflurries, but mostly because I imagined the inside of those machines, yuk!

Didn't eat pate because of (I think it's) vitamin a.

Yup- Most recent European listeria outbreaks have been vegetable/salad bourne. There was a big outbreak in SA recently in some sort of locally processed meat product. Hep B/berry outbreak a while back too - pickers don’t get toilet breaks let’s put it that way.

V important to wash all salads and veg well anyway, but especially when pregnant

Just be aware that listeria is not the only reason to avoid pâté. It’s usually made with liver, which is an incredibly rich source of vitamin A. If you are eating it several times a week or alongside other foods which are very rich in vitamin A then it’s surprisingly easy to go over a safe level of consumption, and there are very clear, proven links between excessive vit A and birth defects.

Sushi, sashimi, steak tartare. I know you can supposedly eat sushi if it’s been frozen first, but how do you ever know?

Also blue cheese... I miss that too!

Can’t wait for a big slab of patê on a warm piece of crusty bread nom nom!

The only thing I won't eat is pate, as RexManning said, its to do with the high levels of Vitamin A.
I live in Australia where all cheeses are pasturised by law, so I have eaten brie and other soft cheeses. But have also eaten sushi, med rare steak and the odd glass of wine. I went off coffee as soon as I fell pregnant, but still drink normal tea.
I'm on my 3rd pregnancy, so maybe that has something to do with it.
