Thanks nohlar. I'm glad I didn't bother, have bought far to many teddies/washed my old teddies. After deciding buying teddies is unessersary... They fill the travel cot....I had quite a collection, wound my mum up as every time I went to a jumble sale or little stall I'd spend my pocket money on another teddy. Grin most I'd got rid of /gave to our dog but got my special few teddies out of the cupboard. I lost interest in teddies when my parents gave into our nagging and we got a dog.

lmx0 · 18/05/2018 21:24

@Embracethechaos i was the same for teddies! Have u got the Emma's dairy bags and the bounty bags?

OP posts:
Embracethechaos · 18/05/2018 22:37

No, I'm waiting to collect the bounty pack after we move. I've not heard of Emma's dairy bag. I've been looking at bigger things... furtiture and a new car, my old ka is rusty, allthough mechanically it's fine bodywork is falling to pieces and not going to pass its mot in December. Also its 3 door but the passenger lock is broken, broke in heavy frost 2 winters ago... My husbands car is great so I don't need a car yet but I'm looking at getting a good family car, probably Honda civic.

lmx0 · 18/05/2018 22:56

We just got a new car as old wasnt family friendly (3 door, need I say more!) emmas dairy there are 3 bags to pick up and u can collect all three after 27 weeks some good samples in them and alot of leaflets they are like the bounty bags

Hi again everyone! Just a quick update to share with you all, baby Dylan made his entrance on the bathroom floor at 18:20 this evening. 6lb 2oz and nearly 6 weeks early! We are both fine but staying in hospital to be kept an eye on for a couple of days.

Noonaylor · 19/05/2018 07:36

Oh wow! Congratulations @Hearts22! What a beauty!

Brettgirl · 19/05/2018 12:50

How is everyone? I'm doing my washing and packing my bags this weekend. I know it's early but with the obstetric cholestasis, I'm anxious and will feel better once it's done. There doesn't seem to be much information or awareness out there and generally the only symptom is itchy hands and feet, so just wanted to say if you experience any of this, please, please mention it. My levels were considered severe at 44 and if baby had shown any signs of distress they would have delivered this week. I'm just so glad I mentioned, purely in passing that I was itchy! Xxx

Embracethechaos · 20/05/2018 07:16

congrats hearts22, he's beautiful - looks like a chubba for being so early and a newborn.

lmx0 · 20/05/2018 11:04

@Brettgirl im not to bad thanks oh there is nothing nicer than seeing baby things blowing away on the washing line! 💖 its nice to get it all done and no harm being prepared!! What is OC?

Hi, we both feel so much better after our first nct class with everyone in the same boat and we also have lots of simular hobbies/jobs...

lmx0 · 20/05/2018 16:22

@Embracethechaos oh thats great!! Also good you met some people that you have alot of common ground with what did your first class cover?

OP posts:
Embracethechaos · 21/05/2018 03:27

The first class covered talking about how we normally deal with pain discomfort and stress, stages of labour, different birth positions and we practiced massage. Lots of little group work, icebreaker stlye activities. I was pretty tiered by half way through and we have the first due date out of everyone. We did two groups where we split into mums and dad's. They were good, I am pleased that my husband might make friends with other first time dad's as both of us work with mostly women and don't have many local guy friends.

Also, I have been finding it stressful that healthcare professionals keep asking about whether we have family locally... They are an hour or so drive away which i was starting to feel was unusual. However, we live in a London comuter town and about half of the couples have recently moved out of London to start a family and have no support network in the town. I feel like our 3 years makes us locals.

lmx0 · 21/05/2018 05:58

Ohh really i must say ice breakers are really not my thing at all (i hate the whole being in groups of new people situation) but sounds like a good informative class and the constant asking about family is normal (i hope) i get it too nearly every visit have you got good support and family? But im sure its a good thing for those that maybe really dont have anyone

OP posts:
Embracethechaos · 21/05/2018 07:21

Yes, it was a bit awkward but most people found it awkward so was OK. The icebreakers were all birth related, except one, 'say your name and what you enjoy doing' which the teacher rushed through as we'd allready chatted a lot on smaller groups.

Lphil93 · 21/05/2018 07:58

@Hearts22 how precious! Absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations- hope you're both doing well!

For some reason I'm not getting notifications for the thread so I've just caught up now.

I've got my 16 week midwife appt tomorrow - can anyone advise what happens here?

Hope you're all doing well as you near your due dates - I've got a while to go yet but already feeling very large indeed 😂

lmx0 · 21/05/2018 09:04

@Lphil93 not very much if i remember right bp, check your pee for sugar and protein ask how you are really they have to offer to listen to baby heartbeat but mine explained why they dont normally do it until after 22 weeks as they cant always find it erm that it i think unless your having issues

OP posts:
lmx0 · 21/05/2018 09:27

@Lphil93 ohh and she will feel your tummy to see what size your uterus is

OP posts:
Noonaylor · 21/05/2018 10:11

@Lphil93 at my 16 week they listened for the heart beat, asked about whether I felt the baby moving, checked for protein and sugar in my urine (they seem to do this everytime) checked my blood pressure (again do this everytime) and my emotional wellbeing. Luckily I had my yellow file with me otherwise I wouldn't have remembered! Off for my 27 (early 28 week appointment) thisafternoon. Xx

lmx0 · 21/05/2018 10:39

@Noonaylor hope it goes well
Im waiting on my 31 week appointment its a week early due to the bank holiday 😊

Noonaylor · 21/05/2018 11:01

@embracethechaos although awkward, that's exactly the reason I go to these classes (and for the knowledge of course!) I moved to Surrey a couple of years ago, my sister also moved here (30mins away) but all the rest of my family is in the lakes and husbands in Oxford so I don't really have a close support network. I guess the trainer is trying to cater for everyone. I'm not the most social person, alot of my school friends are in London (only 30mins away) but I don't see them alot! I've been quite content with my hub and sister! But now I feel it's time for me to get out of my comfort zone and make some friends in the same situation - and for my husband to have some male friends in the same situation too. I met a lady on an app mush at the weekend. It's brilliant. Like a dating app for mums. I would recommend it for anyone wanted to expand their support network.
@lmx0 oo over the hump! 10 weeks and counting!

chipsandcurrysaucemonster · 21/05/2018 11:19

Hi all! Just in the ten week countdown now with first time baby! Haven't bought much at all and need to finish reading my hypnobirthing book ConfusedBump getting biig and am still enjoying what has been a smooth pregnancy so far! Great to catch up on here about classes and how people are getting on... I hope these weeks fly by!!

Brettgirl · 21/05/2018 11:59

@lmxo it's a condition related to the liver where your bile duct isn't working properly and you get a build up of bile acids causing itching. If unmonitored it can cause early spontaneous labour or still birth. It's quite scary xxx
