@embracethechaos I also did research on nappies - the biodegradable ones aren't as good as they sound.. Some mums have done experiments and they just weren't breaking down in the compost. And if you plan on chucking them in the black bin, they just won't at all.. So I was thinking of using reusable. I think I'll look into that more once the baby is a bit bigger and I get my head around how many I'm using / whether I'll be able to cope with all the washing! X

Embracethechaos · 11/05/2018 17:17

Hi noylar. I don't have a list but I know there are lots online... I got the bounty app (bounty pack was given to me on my booking appointment but I've only just got round to looking at all the bits) I also joined the boots parenting club as I go to their options anyway. I got mam a free mam bottle with my club card when I bought breast pads. I got a set of mam bottles off Facebook. They self sterilise in the microwave which sounds so much easier than buying a steriliser. I also bought a mam breastpump at boots at the same time. I've been discussing breastfeeding quite a bit as the medication I'm on effects it. I'll probably need to express once a day or use formula but I've got an obstetrics appointment next week I'll talk about that..

I don't want to get too much before we move but it's hard... Still need to get car seat and cot mattress, they are important. Lots of mums have said don't buy too much before they are born, lots is unessersary and you don't use it for long. So I think essentials come down to
Cot
Nappy changing stuff
Feeding things
Car seat and or buggy (I've been given a travel system by a relative, the oyster and the carrycot I can use for overnight sleeping.)

Thats probably not all, I have massive baby brain this evening, lost my bananas just after buying them from the market but.. Found a fiver so I could go out and buy lots more bananas....or chocolate. Grin

Noonaylor · 11/05/2018 19:32

Thanks @embracethechaos I think I'm pretty much on my then. I have a bugaboo cameleon - so should work for me throughout the childs pram life, a moses basket, car seat, I'm supposed to be getting a cot from my aunty but I guess there isn't a major rush on that as I won't need it for the first 6 months (will need a new mattress tho). I've been picking up odd bits of clothes and nappies, Muslins, breast pads etc. I just think with the dreaded baby brain I might loose things / forget stuff! I've actually just deleted the bounty app (I got the free bag and then never looked at it!) so maybe I should re look! I also get the free vouchers to collect bags from Emma's diaries but my boots said they were too small. So I need to go to argos to collect them. I love a freebie! I know what you mean about not getting too much stuff - you really don't want to have to move it all. What's your moving date? Our house is almost finished. My poor husband has been working away to ensure its completed in time! Just in time for the baby to make a mess of it I'm sure! I'm getting so excited! Xx

Embracethechaos · 11/05/2018 19:50

27th May. It's all go at the end of May as I also start nct course too. I am collecting the pack after the move. As this is the first grandchild, I really don't want to buy too much, especially clothes until I need to as I'm sure the baby's aunties will be getting lots of them. I can't decide between a baby bath or wash the baby in the bath with a neck support, I'm so clumsy and scared of dropping a slippery newborn. When I was talking about all the options my husband joked it's a summer baby so we could hose it down in the garden. I can't wait till the end of the month. My husband will be happy when we can move as he likes moving furniture and setting things up. I've still got to pack my hospital bag. I don't blame you for deleting the app, it's making me a bit panicky that I'm behind, same way all the mumsnet articles do.

Embracethechaos · 14/05/2018 08:24

Hello ladies, how are you all? I'm using my freetime to do lots of research into everything baby and pregnancy. I've always found money saving expert useful and came across this really good baby checklist, a list of apps and retail clubs....I just have to not overspend. Sadly I've missed the cow&gate one as you have to sign up before 30 weeks. www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/baby-checklist#discount

SprinkleSomeSparkles · 14/05/2018 08:46

Hi ladies can I join? FTM 34 weeks today and it's my first day of mat leave 🎊 my baby still isn't head down yet, movement has been in the same place since week 19 so hoping for a scan at 36 weeks. Hope your all enjoying your pregnancies 🤰

Noonaylor · 14/05/2018 09:58

@embracethechaos thanks for that! Lots of useful information on there. We've sorted our wills and our busy completing the very long life insurance forms! I've done the cow an gate thing too so thank you! I'm sure you could just enter an earlier date for your baby tho.. And you could get it too!
Not long then! Very exciting! Let us know how it goes! Same for me - first grandchild on both sides so I'm sure we will be fine for clothes.. And if not! I can just order online!
@sorinklesomesparkles welcome! How are you feeling? Do you know what you are expecting? X

Embracethechaos · 14/05/2018 11:23

I've spent most the morning online, doing finances and social media and it's sunny. I need to get out the house more, but I'm reluctant as my bra extenders haven't arrived and I like wearing no bra! I actually miss going to work on Monday morning (when I've not worked the weekend)

SprinkleSomeSparkles · 14/05/2018 17:15

@noonaylor thank you, no idea what we're having I suspect boy but couldn't give any scientific reasoning lol! Hope your all keeping well. I'm doing good, spd but il take that as I missed the morning sickness! X

Embracethechaos · 14/05/2018 19:44

Hi sprinkle, I just had a feeling its a girl and I was right. All the signs are just old wives tales anyway so the feeling is as good indicater as any. Mum's know best. Wink we haven't told anyone but everyone is guessing it's a boy as I'm carrying it at the front. Apparently you can't tell I'm pregnant from behind. Only reason I could use to justify my feeling is that I haven't got any more black hairs than normal. My friend didn't find out she was having a daughter until she was born. She also carried it in the front and had all the signs of a boy, even the midwife said something to do with the doppler heartbeat is a sign it's more likely a boy. Smile

Brettgirl · 15/05/2018 02:23

Hi all, I lost you but I've finally found you again! How is everyone? I'm 28 + 5 now, has my 28 week scan yesterday, baby is around the 3lb mark, so probably going to be on the larger side. Also currently breach, although I know there is plenty of time to move yet.
I'm struggling a little, I have low iron and low vitamin D, and because of having had a gastric bypass I'm just not absorbing it as well as I should be.
Also, my 28 week blood tests yesterday showed that I have high bile acid levels, so I have an urgent appointment with the consultant today to check that out. I've been getting really bad itching on my ankles and hands, and apparently that along with the bile acid levels can indicate Cholestasis. If this is the case they may want to induce me at 37 or 38 weeks. The predicted size of baby says that this should be fine, baby should be a good 7lbs by then. I just can't sleep, all sorts of stuff is running through my mind. I may have gone from having about 11 weeks left to suddenly only having 8 weeks left, and my brain is a bit of a mash!

Noonaylor · 15/05/2018 11:36

Hi @brettgirl welcome back!
Gosh you've had a lot going on! Fingers crossed everything is OK, sounds like they have got it all under control though. Ahh potentially 8 weeks to go! So exciting! But yes I can imagine you are a little shocked to have lost 3 weeks!
I'm currently 26 +1 and my heart burn has just kicked in this morning. I'm feeling alot tighter and already feel like I don't have space for the baby to grow anymore. How it's going to get to 7+in there I have no idea! They aren't planning on giving me anymore scans after everything was OK at the 20 week one - but I guess they will if anything comes up in my blood tests next week. How are all of the other lovely mummys doing on this sunny Tuesday? Xx

lmx0 · 15/05/2018 12:23

Hi ladies for some reason i wasnt getting any notifications 🙈 glad you found us!!! Ohh @Brettgirl i hope today goes well!! I think thats about average? I had a scan at 28+1 and baby was around 2lb11 and consultant was more than happy and besides scans are not very accurate when measuring weight?
@Noonaylor ohh heartburn is the worst!! Im currently drained of energy tired sore back hips and bum and had a few little cramps so ill patter about the house today and do very little!! Oh the joys of pregnancy!! Work tomorrow and my birthday and i think ill let it pass on by lol

@lmx0 Tell me about the back and hip pain.. I also feel like I've pulled a muscle down.. there..! Which has lead to me walking with a delightful woddle.. 😱. I'm starting to feel tired again, it must be getting towards the 3rd trimester. My eyes were running so much last night my husband thought I was crying! It was literally just tired eyes..
Oo birthday! What are you going to do - pizza takeaway in bed is always a tempting one! X

My energy levels vary every day. Today I was energetic, had the dentist in the morning, did some shopping then came home and did some gardening... Packing is not happening when the weather is lovely. I did manage to lose a few hours this afternoon just. Sitting in the garden. I've still got a winge. My husband has been really supportive of me with my mental health during pregnancy however... He normally does all the cooking and cleaning and does not like that I'm not doing it now I'm off work... My husband is complaining he's tiered and wanted be to buy him beer when he got home from work yesterday. I went to the shop but bought chocolate and bread instead, and I gave him the chocolate. I'm trying so I cooked breakfast for him on Sunday and omelette today, something he taught me to cook. Neither time did I feel appreciated as on Sunday he ate, grumbled about the washing up then went to bed and slept. Today, he got back from work and I let him have half an hour to chill before talking to him which he asked for... But i cooked dinner and wanted him to eat in the garden with me... He thanked me for dinner but ate it at his computer desk... He said he'll be happier when we move in 2 weeks, just feels like we're in different time zones at the moment which will be good when the baby comes. The thing that annoys me the most is he refused to go to the GP when he was depressed last year, I'm not sympathetic, it's annoying. He's got alcoholics in his family says he's got good self control but we agreed drinking at the weekend, I encouraged him to start drinking at weekends for his stress so i feel a bit guilty about that because for him it's better to be t total. Will be good for both of us to start nct as he's really excited to be a dad and is drinking now because he won't when we have a baby. There aren't many resources out there for dads.

Embracethechaos · 15/05/2018 19:40

Wrong thread I thought this was the winge thread, opps. sorry. My husband just told me about his stressful day, nice chat.

lmx0 · 15/05/2018 21:44

@Embracethechaos he could be stressing about the move as he said everything is up in the air but your right not to be comfortable with the mid week drinking i wouldn't either the classes will help take things off his mind too and prob make yous both feel a little more normal

OP posts:
Embracethechaos · 15/05/2018 21:53

Thanks lmxo, Sunday first class so I won't fret too much till after. It's only one beer tonight, he's not had anything stronger than beer for ages.

lmx0 · 15/05/2018 22:26

Thats not too bad then

OP posts:
Embracethechaos · 16/05/2018 06:39

He did used to drink more so I just got emotional about it, I've had a good day yesterday so needed something to moan about. I was more upset he didn't want to sit in the garden with me.

Noonaylor · 18/05/2018 17:43

@embracethechaos I thought I'd update you - I received my cow and gate cow and diary and you really didn't miss out on much! The diary would be pretty useless for you as it's for throughout your pregnancy and you are near the end. The cow is cute.. But not the best little toy! And obviously it has C&G written quite largely on one size. I'm not complaining! As its free! But didn't want you to feel too left out 🤗. Happy weekend everyone! xx

lmx0 · 18/05/2018 19:41

@Noonaylor i didn't like the dairy in fact i haven't looked near it tbh but the cow is cute
