Just looking for a board to join, have just started weaning myself off conception. I’m due 26th December. Feeling like it would be nice to join a group with people due similar time :)
Feeling a little anxious about things going wrong and dp doesn’t really understand x

Has anyone thought about screening tests? Apparantly some of them need to be done before 10wks. Here the midwife sees you at 6-8 wks so i will book my first appointment for in a couple of weeks. I guess they will talk about screening then. I think we will do everything. DH does not know who his father is so we dont know his full medical history.

Rose2887 · 26/04/2018 20:58

@mamfypuss yes I understand, I only work part time as I have dd from a previous relationship, she’s 9 tho, so I don’t earn a lot, my partner is on excellent money so I’m lucky he’s willing to support me, I have said if need be I can get a little evening job!! How old are you? I’m 31 xx

@Rose2887 ahh that's lucky he Will Look after you. I'm slightly worried about maturity pay. Just need to cut the holidays this year and put loads in savings to make sure we are okay. I'm sure we can make it work. Things just won't be as luxury until I go back.
I'm 26. Feel way to young to be having a baby. Live with my partner but we're not ready.

Pob13 · 26/04/2018 21:08

@Rose2887 how many weeks will you be then? That does seem quite late.

Attie17 · 26/04/2018 21:13

Hi all, so nice to find this! I’m around 5 weeks, due either December 26th or 28th depending on the calculator used.

Woke up today feeling like I had terrible hangover, except I hadn’t been drinking!
And I’ve got itchy nipples and sore boobs and nausea that is only kept at bay by eating constantly. I feel like I am going to get very fat! Anyway else eating all the time?

Rang the doctors on Monday to find out what to do, thought they’d say fill in this form and a midwife will see you at a much later date. But they booked me an appointment for next week - will be around six weeks then.

**Rose can’t believe you don’t see the midwife until June! Not sure I can wait that long! I was hoping for an all at 8 weeks.

emmalou9 · 26/04/2018 21:14

@mamfypuss it really is a dilemma but I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason so I'm taking it as it just isn't the right time for me to change my job at the moment. What's your interview for?

@Rose2887 thank you - No bleeding so that's good just keep thinking I'm due on and with the whole pregnancy thing still not feeling real it's very difficult not to let it distract me too much!! It is easier knowing that there are others in the same position - DH really doesn't understand.

mamfypuss · 26/04/2018 21:18

@emmalou9 an estate agents that's really local to me. I was willing to take a pay cut. But I don't think they will be so supportive when I start then drop the bomb she'll that I'm pregnant. Plus as the main earner of the house I'm relying on the first 6 weeks at 90% pay. The people I work with are lovely and will really help me. It's just 45 min drive and 8.30-6 6 days a week. I fancied a change and more time at home. What was yours for?

Maggi85 · 26/04/2018 21:21

@Rose2887 I think the booking appointment with the midwife should be about 8 weeks as they will arrange your 12-14 week booking scan xx

helbel42 · 26/04/2018 21:23

Hello and congrats to you all! Hope it's ok to join. I'm 33 and this will be our first. I'm due New Year's Eve. Very nervous and pregnancy testing every day, still temping too which isn't great as it's dropped a little bit last few days making me more nervous! I've got really sore boobs in the evenings and some cramping, super bloated and shattered at night but waking up at 6.15 every morning x

emmalou9 · 26/04/2018 21:26

@mamfypuss they can't hold it against you though can they? And it's not like it's only a few months away, your'll have plenty of time to settle in etc. Especially if you think about being at home more as I'm sure you'll definitely want that once baby is here. Travelling that much and those long hours sound like it must be very tiring at the moment.
It was for a teacher of special needs, since I qualified it's what I've wanted to do.

mamfypuss · 26/04/2018 21:32

@emmalou9 technically they can't. But there's lots of issues about maternity pay if you haven't been there a year. Plus it's a pay cut and we can't afford that and a baby. Hopefully when it's time for me to go back my partner will be qualified in his job and on enough money that I don't need to go back or can get a little part time job. We was planning on moving to New Zealand in 2 years. But that's on hold now!

What a nice job. A friend of mine is a teaching assistant in a job similar. Says it's very rewarding but emotionally and physically draining. Hopefully one will come up for both of us when we are ready! 🤞🏼

mamfypuss · 26/04/2018 21:50

I don't know if I'm just being hormonal or I should be a little grumpy.
My other half has gone to the pub tonight. I'm home alone. It just winds me up that he can just drink and go out and not worry.
All the foods I love I can't really have. Mayonnaise, I had with everything before. Soft cheeses were amazing. And I have to say I was prone to a glass of wine when I got in.
He just goes "oh babe you can't have that but I can"

I told him that the o my annoying part is going to be Christmas, because everyone's going to be merry but me. Then I said... oh but you can't drink too unless the baby is born as it will be due any day. He said "I can have a few"

I just feel like we're supposed to be in this together but it's only me going to change things.

I think I'm just being hormonal but it's good to get it off my chest! X

Rose2887 · 26/04/2018 21:53

Mamfypuss im worried about maternity too.. not sure how it all works!!! We are saving for a deposit on a house we’ve secured will be built next Easter!!

Emmalou9 tell me about it, my dp keeps saying pregnancy isn’t an illness.. and I’m an emotional wreck!!!!

Prob13 I’m due 26th December... so that’s going to be very close to scan isn’t it??

Maggi85 yes that’s what I thought when he said middle of June I was shocked!!! That’s when my scan should be!!!

helbel42 - welcome and congrats!!! Is this your first?? Flowers

Christmas is going to be interesting for us this year 😂😂

Thanks @Rose2887, yes our first, still can't quite believe it. How far along will you be for your appt then? Seems like a long time! I rang docs but going on hols 3rd-18th May so she said to ring next week to get an appt for when I'm back as there appt book doesn't go that far! Should be bang on 8 weeks when I get back but apparently midwife is only there one day per week every two weeks so not sure how it will work out! x

FireAndRain45 · 27/04/2018 07:07

Mamfy you can have mayo! As long as it's shop bought stuff in the regular non-chilled aisle. No fresh handmade mayo though. I couldn't cope without mayo for 9 months Grin

Is anyone else worried about sex?! I know it can't harm the baby but I still feel like we have to be extra gentle or something, I dunno, I'm so scared of anything going wrong!

Attie17 · 27/04/2018 07:39

@FireAndRain45 ha, I know what you mean! It feels a bit weird to have sex when there’s something/one there.

mamfypuss · 27/04/2018 10:43

@FireAndRain45 you have actually made my life! I thought I was going to die 😂 x

Pob13 · 27/04/2018 10:53

mamfy and fire baby vs mayo?! Its a really tough choice! So glad we dont have to make it!!!

Rose2887 · 27/04/2018 15:09

Anyone else have a job on your feet all day?? Not sure what to do... I work in a busy bistro and I’m on my feet, loading dish washer etc and I’m starting to worry Over next few months I’m going to struggle!!! Xxx

Hi everyone, can I join? I’m due sometime in December. My cycles were all messed up so don’t really have a good sense of how many weeks I am. I’ll have to wait for the first scan!

This will be my second child. I had a horrendous first labour (don’t worry, I promise not to scare first timers with that story yet) so going into this second pregnancy with very low expectations on how it is going to go.

DS1 is 2 in June so we’ll have a 2.5yr age gap. I’m excited to be pregnant but already wishing it was over and I had Tiny in my arms.

Symptoms not too many yet (which makes me think I’m still early). Bit queasy, super hungry (any excuse) and tired tired tired.

Happy to help answer questions from first timers. It’s a minefield trying to get your head round everything.

Congratulations everyone.

FoxgloveStar · 27/04/2018 15:47

@Pob “Expecting Better” is an excellence evidence-based pregnancy book

@Mamfy there are really very few things you can’t eat while pregnant. Many of the food scares are paranoia driven. Read book above with a big mayonnaise sandwich.

problembottom · 27/04/2018 15:52

Did a test today and I’m due on I think Dec 27 with my first. Grin DP cried bless him. My boobs have been utter agony for ten days so I was pretty sure I was pregnant (any advice on that score?). Congrats to all. Smile
