Following on from the Itchy & bitchy 2nd trimester thread!

I'm now 25 + 6 weeks, so very nearly 6 months gone! 3 months remaining...

Morning sickness is still very present and I've been reminded of this 4-8 times a day all week.

On the plus side- movements are now very regular and I love them! Much lower down than I remember DC1 being- lots of bladder kicks which are /not/ fun.

Hows everyone else doing with the 3rd trimester?

@LMX0
@CremeDeSudo

How are you two getting along?? Grin

@SK166 6 weeks left!! Hopefully this sickness is just a little phase that will pass thats really annoying about having different mw but at least she was helpful how do the check to find out how engaged baby is?

SK166 · 15/06/2018 19:52

@Embrace - put your feet up and drink plenty of fluids. Hopefully it’ll pass!

@lmx0 - they give you a good old squeeze and see how much of baby’s head they can feel above the pelvis. It’s not very comfortable!

lmx0 · 15/06/2018 21:04

@SK166 ohh sounds better than what I thought!! I was thinking they were putting their hand where it aint ment to go they're saving that for delivery then?! Still dosent sound like it would be a barrel of laughs though when do they start checking?
@Embracethechaos hope you feel better soon nothing as bad as being sick when pg

LostMyBaubles · 15/06/2018 21:25

Was just going to say they feel for thr neck etc

Todays been a very weird day.
Lots of pain. Got some atm.

Felt like i had wee'd myself this morning been about 10mins after dtd and was stoof up so put it down to that.

Put a pad on as for around an hour or so later undies were still wet. Not soaking though.

Embracethechaos · 15/06/2018 21:32

I've been checked at my past 2 appointments, so.. 32 weeks?ish? But i don't think there's a date, they've told me the position from when they started listening to the heart beat so I suppose it depends how early your baby goes head down...my midwife keeps telling me it doesn't matter until 37 weeks, (when they might book a. Cesarean if baby is breach) . first time was a bit painful, second time was less hard. I can imagine it's more sensitive when baby is engaging.

lmx0 · 15/06/2018 21:42

@LostMyBaubles could have been discharge after dtd? Have u had a chance to rest n see if pain eases?
@Embracethechaos really? Im 34 weeks and baby has been head down since 28 weeks and they haven't checked yet? Unless every trust is different unless they start at next appointment

Embracethechaos · 15/06/2018 21:47

Well, I had students check so maybe they were practicing, last midwife was more interested in whether or not I was engaged and the colour of my discharge than any other midwife. I had slight haematuria (trace of blood in my wee) but I felt the least relaxed after that appointment, had another look in the notes and everything was fine.

LostMyBaubles · 15/06/2018 21:49

Thats what im thinking. If I get more will get checked out etc

Theyve checked babys position to see if hes engagaed and it just says free in notes.

Our notes have a section that has to be filled if possible to do so-
Bp, urine, gestation, position, fetal movements and heartbeat. These according to trust here should be checked at each appt if possible

SK166 · 15/06/2018 21:59

@lmx0 - the first time it’s noted in mine is 34 weeks when they noted she was free I.e. not engaged, which I gather they generally aren’t at that stage. They then checked at 36 weeks and again today at 38 and she was partly engaged from 36 so I’m guessing that’s when they properly start looking for it? Not that it apparently matters very much as they can still pop in and out of your pelvis until quite late. If they’re small, they can even still disengage right up until labour.

lmx0 · 15/06/2018 22:47

Must have a good look at my notes they maybe have n never mentioned it ive heard babies can go in n out for fun (suppose they have to get their kicks somewhere lol)

SK166 · 16/06/2018 07:51

Fun new pregnancy symptom - waking up every morning with really painful fingers and feet! Honestly, I get out of bed and I feel like I’ve been standing for 12 hours! Oh and the leg cramps have reeeeaaallly ramped up now. About 6am every day, without fail, one or both of my calves go into vicious spasm and make me yelp in pain, jump out of bed and frantically hop round the room.

This baby cannot come soon enough!

letsallhaveanap · 16/06/2018 09:46

This is TMI but I tried to DTD with DH the other night to maybe bring on labour.... ended up throwing up all over the bed.... mood killer

lmx0 · 16/06/2018 09:59

@SK166 cramps are awful!! I used to get them too and always in the middle of the night!! I found if i had a few salt & vinegar crisps helped me it must have been the salt! Ohh thats bot good aout your hands & feet are they swollen?

lmx0 · 16/06/2018 10:01

@letsallhaveanap awww no way but i could see how it could happen there has been a few times when my dh has tried n even the thought has made me a bit green!!

Embracethechaos · 16/06/2018 14:01

I had leg cramps before I was prescribed iron. I found bananas as a night time snack helped.

Embracethechaos · 16/06/2018 14:11

The calf was bad enough but I got one in my thigh, which was more painful and debilitating and a back cramp after dancing to let it go without stretching back in the second trimester. Blush

KTD27 · 16/06/2018 17:44

Oh man. The swollen ankles and feet. I’m practically all cankle.
It’s driving me CRAZY - drinking lots of water and trying to elevate my legs. Just think it’s something I’m going to have to deal with til baby arrives. Along with swollen fingers if my hands are down by my sides for long enough.
Might pop on and get a BP check tomorrow to be safe not that I think it’s anything untoward but always safer to be sure I guess

lmx0 · 16/06/2018 19:02

@KTD27 thats a good idea put your mind at ease if nothing else!! Many weeks have u left?
@Embracethechaos ouchie!!

KTD27 · 16/06/2018 19:49

lmx0 I have 4. My mum is a midwife though and saw me yesterday and kindly said she thinks I’ll be lucky to last another 2. I wish!

lmx0 · 16/06/2018 19:57

@KTD27 you never know she may be right?! Although im sure even 2 sounds like forever now

LostMyBaubles · 16/06/2018 21:57

Defo get your bp checked
My last pregnancies i was always very swollen. My rings didnt fit, none of my own shoes fit and was wearing size 11 mens flip flops!
Didnt think anything of it at the time tbh

No swelling atm thankfully

laurG · 16/06/2018 22:48

Anyone had to have a growth scan st the last minute? I’m almost 37 weeks and do have a small bump. But not I midwife or gp has shown any concern about the size if the bump. it’s always been within the 2cm range. Anyway ,I was in hospital with Braxton Hicks yesterday and all of a sudden they decide the bump is too small Andi need an urgent growth scan on Monday. I’m freaking out! Saw the midwife on Wednesday and she wasn’t concerned.

lmx0 · 16/06/2018 23:20

@laurG ive heard of a few ladies that have had to have last minute growth scans and all turned out well try not too worry too much im sure all will be grand

Embracethechaos · 17/06/2018 05:33

Laura, I've had two urgent growth scans, everything was fine. My midwife said the measurements are very inaccurate. Mine have not followed a pattern at all but the scans have all been fine. I was panicking a bit before my first scan due to no change in 2 weeks as I also had just started medication and had low iron. Everything was fine. Midwife said measurements vary on time of day and position of baby. For my second scan my midwife was not concerned about the measurement but when I went in for an obs appointment the following week the Dr sent me for a scan before seeing him. It least I didn't have any time to worry. I know saying try not to worry is easier said than done but extra scans in late pregnancy I'm pretty sure are fairly common. Try to think of it as another chance to see your baby allthough you can't see much in late pregnancy.

SK166 · 17/06/2018 08:57

@laurG - I wouldn’t worry about it. My best friend was constantly told she was measuring too small and had several growth scans and then ended up with a baby that was 8lb7. They keep telling me I’m also measuring slightly small, one midwife suggested a scan, but another had a good old feel of baby and said she’s fine - I just have a combination of a long torso, quite tight abs and a bump that is all baby. These things are all guess-stimations! I’m sure you’ve got nothing to worry about.

How is everyone this morning? Doing anything nice with the dads today?
