Following on from the Itchy & bitchy 2nd trimester thread!

I'm now 25 + 6 weeks, so very nearly 6 months gone! 3 months remaining...

Morning sickness is still very present and I've been reminded of this 4-8 times a day all week.

On the plus side- movements are now very regular and I love them! Much lower down than I remember DC1 being- lots of bladder kicks which are /not/ fun.

Hows everyone else doing with the 3rd trimester?

@LMX0
@CremeDeSudo

How are you two getting along?? Grin

Odd little niggly pain which I can cope with

Need urine checking again as it feels like uti or something kicking things off

GottaBeStrong · 20/05/2018 21:36

Congratulations Pumpkin.

I had a bad day. I started off okay but then my OH needed me to drop something off to him and I don't drive. I made the mistake of trying to waddle there in the heat - prior to now I could manage it, but this time about 5 to 10 minutes in I was in agony sort of middle to low down in the bump and in my lower back too. I nearly started crying it felt so uncomfortable and painful. Then my heart issues started off. By the time I got there and saw him, I just burst into tears. I sat down for a bit and it did ease a little. His friend gave me a lift home and I had a cool bath and came to bed.

Since then, I've had some stabbings in the bump, a period pain like lower back pain and pressure feeling.... it all feels a bit odd. I have my 36 week scan and consultant's appointment tomorrow so will be interesting to see what position she's in as she's mainly been tansverse, then supposedly 4/5 engaged and then breech.

NooNooHead · 20/05/2018 22:13

@readysetcake congratulations!! What an amazing effort! Were you trying different methods to start labour over the weekend?

I hope you are enjoying every minute with your gorgeous boy xx

WreckItRach · 21/05/2018 11:47

It's all well and fine saying to walk more but as soon as I start walking I need to pee!

NooNooHead · 21/05/2018 12:33

Hi ladies, well... very long story... to make it v short: I had a EMCS with my DD 7.5 years ago. This was all good and fine, and all went well. (She was 11lb5oz which was mad but probably because of undiagnosed gestational diabetes..!)

Anyway, this time they have been monitoring me v well and all is ok. I am keeping my diabetes under control through a strict diet, and my levels have been ok so far.

I’m under consultant led care, and have seen about 5 diff consultants including a diabetes one, and they all seem to contradict each other with regards to advice and what I should did labour and birth-wise. I have initially opted for a ELCS this time, only because I am slightly worried about a VBAC, plus I was advised this would be wise as my glucose levels weren’t great a few weeks ago, and they moved my original ELCS date from the 14th June to the 7th.

Now, after seeing one of the consultants last week, he asked why the date for my c-section was so early given that baby is measuring under average size at the moment - around 5.5lb - and he suggested moving my date back to the 14th. He also said if I wanted a VBAC, they would advise me to be induced around 39 weeks - which is much nearer my due date of 21st June.

I KNOW - this is all so confusing! But to make matters more confusing for me, I also have a drug-induced movement disorder called tardive dyskinesia that was caused by some stupid antipsychotic drugs that I was given about 2.5 years ago when I was going through a terrible breakdown after a head injury, post concussion syndrome and insomnia. This means I am v sensitive to any drugs or medication - especially the dopamine antagonist type - and am worried about the anaesthetic they may use during the ELCS. I have seen the anaesthetist and she seemed to think the type of anaesthetic they would use wouldn’t affect me, although she did have to look up my condition on the internet as she was discussing things which didn’t make me feel v reassured..!

Anyway, the reason for all my waffle here is that I am still not sure what to go for in terms of birth options... have a c-section on the 7th as organised but not know how I am going to react to the drugs; have a VBAC later on after being induced but possibly have to have an epidural and not know how I would react there either; or wait to see if I go into labour naturally and don’t have any drugs at all...

I have no idea what to do as the thought of being cut open during an ELCS scares me, but then it also really worries me about reacting to drugs and the pain of a natural birth...

Plus, I may end up with an EMCS anyway! As you can see, I am v confused...! Any advice would be much appreciated!

NooNooHead · 21/05/2018 12:37

@readysetcake hugs and huge congratulations! Well done on the birth of your gorgeous baby! Such exciting news Smile

NooNooHead · 21/05/2018 12:38

I’m 36 weeks on Thurs so I don’t have that long to decide... hence my worry and confusion! Ha ha!

Smurfybubbles · 21/05/2018 13:04

@NooNooHead I had an elective c section 2 weeks ago due to failed induction, I was so exhausted and had only made it to 3cm despite being in labor for over 24 hours with regular strong contractions so I requested one. I genuinely believe he wouldn't have come out any other way he was so cosy in there!

I had a spinal block which is different to the epidural drugs, has your anesthetist spoken to you about that?

Having it planned rather than emergency made it so much better as I was calm and they were able to take their time getting him out. It's a bit daunting when you think about being cut open but it was fine and the recovery hasn't been too bad!

You need to do what's best for you and baby, don't let anyone push you in another direction, I had to stand my ground but my decision was respected in the end! Afterwards they advised I had made the right choice as he was big and I hadn't progressed as much as they thought, I would have been a few more days in labor to get him out vaginally, I would have been exhausted.

How do you want to give birth?

lmx0 · 21/05/2018 13:29

@WreckItRach i hear ya you try to go for a walk but either u need to pee your back gets sore or your bump does!! I dont know how some ladies keep up with exercise!!
@NooNooHead no wonder you've been left confused after not only seeing so many different consultants but them all having something different to say as well @Smurfybubbles had some very good points but i think it all boils down to what u want Thanks

Embracethechaos · 21/05/2018 21:33

Hello, I missed some chat. I've started the nct course on Sunday, have an appointments with 2 different doctor tomorrow, another nct class Wednesday, so got a busy week but I'm feeling a lot more relaxed and confident since our class. It's a nice group of people.

lmx0 · 21/05/2018 21:47

@Embracethechaos good luck with the appointments 😊

GottaBeStrong · 21/05/2018 23:27

@NooNooHead

I don't think I'd know what to do in your situation either. Perhaps an ELCS as it would be the most controlled option but could you push it back to 14th June? If you don't need to have it earlier I mean.

GottaBeStrong · 21/05/2018 23:32

I had my scan and consultant appointment today. Baby is estimated as not that big 5 lbs 4 ounces at 35+6. The fibroid is completely blocking my cervix so baby is transverse again (was breech last time). The position and fibroid are apparently making it very uncomfy and painful now.

End result: I've been booked for a c section on the 12th. I'm glad I know what I'm doing now.

Embracethechaos · 22/05/2018 06:47

@lostmybaubles, I'm the same, had lots of energy over the weekend after having a relaxing week and did the hovering and some shopping and now my left hip is paying for it. Getting the balance between resting and keeping fit and active is difficult in the third trimester I've found! So much I want to do. As we are moving house, my nesting instinct was to buy a first aid kit and emergency meds from super drug, open and repack the kit with the stuff from my medicine cupboard. Feel happier now I can carry that around and pack up properly. We've got deliveries of a car seat and hospital nag coming as our nct course made as realise how unprepared we are l. I've been waiting until the end may to buy baby stuff. It's been good as I've thought carefully about buying, just need to get nappy stuff and wait for presents from friends and relatives (esspesally the babies aunts). Or as parents have recommend wait until after they are born so I know what size the baby is.

WreckItRach · 22/05/2018 07:40

@GottaBeStrong that's good news that it's all booked in and organised! That's on my due date.

Since about 8 last night I have been getting back ache like when you are due on, it's been coming and going, not really painful, just like a dull ache. Could this potentially be the start of something??

lmx0 · 22/05/2018 10:57

@GottaBeStrong at least you now know whats happening are you excited? Or nervous?
@WreckItRach how are you now? It could be but then again it might just be your body prepping itself? It can be really hard to tell
