Following on from the Itchy & bitchy 2nd trimester thread!

I'm now 25 + 6 weeks, so very nearly 6 months gone! 3 months remaining...

Morning sickness is still very present and I've been reminded of this 4-8 times a day all week.

On the plus side- movements are now very regular and I love them! Much lower down than I remember DC1 being- lots of bladder kicks which are /not/ fun.

Hows everyone else doing with the 3rd trimester?

@LMX0
@CremeDeSudo

How are you two getting along?? Grin

I played fetch with my dog in the garden, one pick up then I kicked the tennis ball, about 10 minutes fresh air and that will do. He's pretty lazy, (follows me lead) so he had had enough quickly, just wanted to lie down and chew so I wasn't going to continue the game when he lost enthusiam. He's spent most the day looking out the frount window, so as it's cooler would have enjoyed a walk so feel good that I gave him a game of fetch, better than nothing. The most productive thing I did today was update my dogs instaram page to a buisness profile so he is a profesional comedian. :D got the idea from another dog instagrammer. I am definatly a crazy dog lady as I've had dreams during my pregnancy that I give birth to a puppy. But I know my dog is better with kids than dogs...so I keep telling myself (and my husband tells me) we only need one dog.

Embracethechaos · 16/05/2018 15:49

Also...you don't get the same benifits and maternaty leave with a puppy Grin

twistedpink · 16/05/2018 19:37

Had to go for a growth scan yesterday as baby took a dip at my 35 week appointment, saying he's small..... after my scan they told me he's looking at 6 pound 9. And I'm 35 weeks...... pray for my vagina ladies, it might not make it.......

mustbemad17 · 16/05/2018 19:55

Ouchies 🙈🙈🙈 i haven't had any indication of his size thank god...i'm pretending the bump is all water hahaha

lmx0 · 16/05/2018 20:37

@Embracethechaos which is a shame i reckon!!! Puppies are like babies that never grow up!!!
@twistedpink hopefully he wont be that big come d day!! I had a nosey through my notes and if baby keeps on track i reckon she will be measuring around 8.5lb 😱 i really hope not!!!! I hope either i have it wrong or the hospital do!! Besides scan measuring scans aren't accurate (so ive heard and believe!!)

GottaBeStrong · 16/05/2018 20:57

@lmx0 I shall try the talc. I've been so irritated down there I resorted to bepanthen lol. I put most of my weight on my thighs and bum and then what with the ooompa loompa swelling I guess it doesn't help, especially if it gets warm.

coastalchick · 16/05/2018 21:16

OMG I’m only 22+2 but going to follow this thread as you’re all brilliantly hilarious and I feel your pain (just based on bloody pregnancy so far!). Not read whole thread yet, but must!

GottaBeStrong · 16/05/2018 21:17

Glad it's not just me floating (waddling/staggering) round in a daze. I changed into clothes so I could go get some groceries at 6.30 pm. Grin

I can't seem to get my head around things - still need to wash baby's clothes/bedding, buy my bits like nursing bras/nipple cream/nighties/flip flops/maternity pads etc, OH needs to transfer us from small bedroom to big bedroom which is his 'gym' room.. I need to pack bags etc. That's on top of the usual stuff including finding my dogs vaccination card and somehow getting her to the vet as no car. She's really old and has no eyes... kinda dreading any bad news near my due date as last year she nearly passed away from multiple organ failure and by some miracle my old vet saved her.

Anyway, OH declares today he will transfer the rooms on the 9th June or his free day just before then as if I have the elcs it will be the 12th and my mum's coming the 10th! ConfusedShock I just agreed as quite frankly I just want to get out of the smaller bedroom and he doesn't want to give up his man cave. It was his house before I moved in... Wink I did think that if baby decides or needs to come early he's going to be very busy while I'm in hospital Grin

mustbemad17 · 16/05/2018 21:20

I'm tucked up in bed feeling very flustered & spaced out...been having some uncomfortable tightenings, 'period' pain & pressure in my bum but knowing my luck little mister is just teasing me. As much as i want my home birth if he decided to shift his arse tonight/tomorrow i'd be relieved 🙈🙈

Gotta talc is a god send. But if all else fails, cycling shorts stop the dreaded thigh rub. Quite comfy too if you can cope with the waistband x

Embracethechaos · 16/05/2018 21:22

Sore nipples tonight, not quite as bad as early pregnancy and looking up how to help I did everything wrong today - no bra, not enough to drink and a bubble bath. Well... You live and learn. Got obstetrics appointment tomorrow, bit nervous which is ironic as I'm seeing them for mental health. I'll talk about breastfeeding and a birth plan, which I've not done as I don't think birth is something you can plan. I should probably think a bit more about birth. Tommorow I'll sort out my notes. Medication I'm on effects breastfeeding but should still be possible. It also can interfere with pain relief medication so I'll see if we can talk about that tomorrow, I'm in two minds about an epidural. I'd rather not because I don't want any complications but it is the most effective pain relief...

lmx0 · 16/05/2018 22:27

@GottaBeStrong did the bepanthen help? Talc is good but an annoyance for using in work!!! You've still plenty of time to gather the last bits but your oh on the other hand is cutting it fine!!
@coastalchick 😂😂 glad we made you giggle!!! You have to have a laugh otherwise we would all cry!!
@mustbemad17 try and relax if it is the start if something stressing apparently can stall or stop things i know its way easier said than done
@Embracethechaos ohh i hate sore nips!! Have you tried a sports bra? Also nipple cream plastered on and breast pads I found to help good luck tomorrow!!

Embracethechaos · 17/05/2018 02:05

Lmxo. No bras fit, curcomferance wise and extenders are due to arrive Friday. Thanks for the tips, I did use a sports bra in the first trimester, did help. Looked at some the other weekend but decided against buying them as my chest will shrink again in a few months. I read coconut oil helps and I have some in the cupboard so put that on last night, was good.

Embracethechaos · 17/05/2018 05:45

sports bra not weekend.....

WreckItRach · 17/05/2018 07:21

@Embracethechaos I feel the same about the birth plan! The MW is helping me with mine on Friday. I'm trying to go in to it with the attitude of 'I will see how I go'.

WreckItRach · 17/05/2018 07:22

I have my blood test today to check my iron levels. They were just right last time so I've been on a high iron diet to try and keep them up but with that stupid sickness bug last week I'm a little worried they've dipped. If they aren't high enough then I won't be allowed in the birthing suite, I'll have to be on the ward so fingers crossed!! 🤞🤞

Flatwhite32 · 17/05/2018 07:27

Hi ladies, nice to 'meet' you all! I'm
30+3 today. Had a mega stressful night last night with reduced movements, as was in maternity for over 3 hours. Thankfully all was ok in the end, but my god I was stressed out. Have been told to rest today, so am not going in to work. Baby is also transverse, but they didn't seem worried about that.

mustbemad17 · 17/05/2018 08:13

Morning ladies. So little sir decided to keep up his antics until about 3am, so i haven't slept much 😭 nothing new to report bar the 'period' pain under my bump and the fact that i massively have the hump about it all
There was me getting all excited. Grrrr

Flatwhite glad all okay, my little monkey did that to me at 34, i went from feeling like he was trying to escape to feeling these really feeble wiggles if i really shuffled him. Worrying times, these babies really put us through the mill. Definitely rest up and eat lots of yummy snacks, it's almost the law

CremeDeSudo · 17/05/2018 08:33

Morning all

Sore nips here too! Don't remember this from DS. Not bad enough to seek relief though, just a bit uncomfortable. Main gripes here are still rubbish sleep and pain at the bottom of my bump/front of my foof that just feels like where the baby is hanging. Wish I carried higher!!

@Embrace take the Epidural, it's amazing! DS was back to back so I didn't bother entertaining anything less. I was open to anything except Pethadine. Never having that stuff!

lmx0 · 17/05/2018 08:43

@Embracethechaos ohh i hate that!! I dont think ive ever bought so many bras in such a short space of time before!! Im due to bug some more but im think of going for nursing and hoping they will last me until after birth
@WreckItRach fingers crossed 🤞🏻 i would love to have the suite as well but ill see how i go
@Flatwhite32 welcome!! And what a night for you!! Im glad little monkey js ok and normally they dont worry bout position until 36 weeks i think it is so plenty of time to move round
@mustbemad17 what a wee monkey he is!!
@CremeDeSudo hope it eases soon!! Have you thought about a support for your bump? Might help?

readysetcake · 17/05/2018 08:50

Morning all! Hello @flatwhite glad all ok with the movements. It’s really stressful isn’t it. My baby has always been active from 5pm and really quiet in the day. It’s an anxious wait everyday to see if it keeps up its normal pattern. Would much rather it be busy in the day and then leave me in peace when I’m trying to get to sleep!

Sorry you were up all night @mustbemad17 that really sucks. Baby sounds like a bit of tease!

Sore nips on and off here too. Also can feel anxiety building about breastfeeding with my crappy flat nipples. It was agony last time and I only made 6 weeks as I was ready to jump off a bridge at the thought of feeding ( it was really pushing me toward PND) and ended up with thrush (which I didn’t know until after I stopped). I’m sure my dodgy nipples played a massive part as I had at least 3 lactation support people tell me the latch looked perfect.

Hope bloods are ok today @wreckItRach keeping fingers crossed for you.

Regarding birth plans, nice to have one to be sure of what you want and so people can advocate for you if you can’t, but also important to keep an open mind and see the birth plan as a best case scenario rather than what will happen on the day. But I feel it’s important to questions decisions being made and ask what will happen if you don’t do something so that you can be fully informed, rather than just nodding and agreeing if things go a bit wrong.

CremeDeSudo · 17/05/2018 09:07

@lmx0 Yeah I've been wearing a support belt since around 20 wks! The pressure there is nothing new, the pain is! I have my next consultant appt on Monday so I'll mention it, but suspect it's normal!

@readysetcake I had the same problem with flat nipples last time - you did SO much better than me! I posted on here for advice a little while ago and someone suggested getting a cheap pump just to get your nipples out so the baby can latch on. I had such a shit time with bf'ing I've been wondering whether to try at all. I'm going to, but I just don't want to repeat the trauma of last time!

mustbemad17 · 17/05/2018 09:08

Bit like his dad really readysetcake 😆

Have to admit i have been very lucky on the boob front, they are the one part of me that doesn't hurt! Leaking a lot, but no pain. I have a very comfortable nursing bra on currently that provides enough liftage so my bump isn't being squashed but doesn't put my nose in jeopardy!!

I have a very simple birth plan; water pool (if we have time, i labour fast), gas & air (or someone might die) & nobody patting me like a dog (ex did this a lot, drowning was imminent). After that i don't care. Obviously if any complications & MW dictates transfer to hospital then we go with the flow. I'm terrified of having a c-section so have made sure all my entourage know to stress i want a GA if it comes to it.

Best laid plans & all that....

WreckItRach · 17/05/2018 09:38

Have you had a home birth before @mustbemad17 ? I like the idea of them but I would get really anxious in case something went wrong. I am praying I get a water birth, a bath can help anything haha.

I feel very lucky that my nips haven't really hurt at all! I'm super nervous about bfing though!

Embracethechaos · 17/05/2018 09:45

Thanks experienced mums for your advice.
@creme, I'm pretty sure it's pethidine that I can't have with my medication anyway, allthough I might not take my medication during labour, that's something to discuss with a doctor, as both meds make me drowsy and relaxed. My daily med is not a painkiller. I'm not having a home birth, I briefly concidered the idea but midwives and doctors have said no and I would rather have support around me and a nice clean tidy house to come home to and a non traumatised dog (giving birth in a new house is not a relaxing way to settle a dog in!) I did want to go to the local birth centre in the non acute hospital a work at but decided it would nit be fun if I had to go to have the crash team as I know them... Also the doctors have recommended the main hospital with a birth centre, labour ward and emergency services on hand. This would be ideal, except its an at least half hour drive through bumpy windy countryside (and your quite likely to get stuck behind a tractor) I'll just hope I don't go into labour during rush hour.

I feel like a right idiot this morning. Thought my obstetrics appointment is today (Thursday is my due date so my week's seem to revolve around them medicly) but it's tomorrow! I know that as it was booked at my 20 week scan for a placenta check (but it's allready been checked so the scan is cancelled, but I think I still need to see the doctor as I don't see them often) and Friday the 18th of May has been stuck in my head and I even confused it as my move in date which is the following Friday! My husband is usually really on the ball with dates so I rely on him but we've arranged to meet at the hospital. I did tell him to call me before he leaves work today because he can't look at his phone at work (works in a school). So I didn't sleep well last night worrying about this appointment that isn't even today!

I suppose I could have a nap...

lmx0 · 17/05/2018 09:52

Im quite nervous about about bfeeding too!! But ive a bfeeding workshop on 4th July so im hoping that will put my mind at ease a bit (i think actually more nervous of bfeeding than birth!!) and i will give it a go i even manage to pick up some bfeeding shields in boots in clearance for under £2 bargain!! A birth plan is a good idea to have just so everyone has an idea of how you would like things to go instead of asking you when u cant think i would love a suite with a water-pool and i agree with @WreckItRach a bath can help anything!!
