Oops jld sorry!

Aridia · 03/04/2018 22:19

So o know this should probably be the least of my worries but it's playing on my mind a lot. Over the past couple of months I've been under a huge amount of stress which has led to convenience and comfort eating, and I've put on loads of weight as a result. I'm worried that when the midwife weighs me she'll put me down as an obese mum.

Stressing about my weight and I'm only 4+4 lol I'm aware how ridiculous that is!

jld1202 · 03/04/2018 23:07

@Aridia I get that fear completely - I've been on a restricted diet to manage both IBS and PCOS but still have a BMI in the "overweight" category, but best mate is a nurse and she said her medical colleagues never judge, only advise based on what's best - and that's what we all want for our currently poppy/seseme - seed sized bumps!

@Rachie1986 I have IBS too managed through FODMAP diet but feels out of control last few days! Will blame the hormones....! Xx

Lauraelizabeth26 · 04/04/2018 02:51

Hia, thought I’d join in!

I’m 26 and almost 6weeks pregnant with first baby and the EDD is 30th November!

Still waiting for booking in appointment and have sooo many questions, the midwife will probably hate me Smile.

I’m really excited and nervous as this was unplanned but my OH and myself both immediately were happy about the news!

No major symptoms yet other than slight cramping and tiredness, I’m hoping to be one of the lucky ones that miss morning sickness all together!

Aridia · 04/04/2018 08:21

@jld1202 I'm sure you're friend is right, and they won't judge. But there's something unpleasantly psychological about seeing it written in your notes. My current BMI (by my calculations) is 29, which freaks me out because it's on the cusp of obese. Which is crazy, as I'm a dress size 12-14 lol. Oh well! Thank you for the reassurance ☺

I'm sure these hormones are playing havok with my toilet habits already lol!

mollymoo0 · 04/04/2018 09:00

@Aridia my bmi is currently 31 just I'm just into the obese category by 1. I am a size 16 and I'm trying to eat super healthy for my booking appointment as I want to go to a midwife led unit so have to be low risk and my first birth was straight forward and natural so I think as-long as my bmi is under 35 they are happy enough for me to go there.

My dd is 3 1/2.

Starting to feel more nauseous each day which has thrown me as my first pregnant I was only sick once. I know each is different but was hoping it would be the same, hopefully it will calm down.

Aridia · 04/04/2018 10:02

That's really good to hear @mollymoo0! I hope you are able to go to the midwife led unit! Our women's hospital has a separate birth centre and delivery suite on site, which is good. I'll probably have to go there because of my adenomyosis anyway. Good luck! At least my lack of appetite has out me off eating all the Easter chocolate! Every cloud 😜

ellsharks · 04/04/2018 10:38

My BMI is 29 and says im overweight, but im 5 ft 4 and a size 10/12 (ideally 11 lol). I just have a fat arse. I think BMI is a load of bo**ox!

Im 7 weeks today, and my boobs when i get out of bed feel like they're going to drop off! They're not biggens either! Other than that, and feeling more lazy than normal, i think thats it for me! I have been feeling most mornings like my stomach feels empty and when i eat it only takes it away for about 20 minutes and I feel empty again, so I am going to assume that's a type of morning sickness!

I mentioned before in here about feeling super anxious, but that seems to get better every day!

Booking in appt next week - 2 hours away from the office though and haven't told my manager yet.

Has anyone else told their work?

AaronPurrSir · 04/04/2018 11:41

I'm 5'6", size 12 and apparently overweight. I've lifted weights for years so I'm really muscly, and I hate BMI for that reason. I'm going to wear something tight fitting to my checking in appt so the midwife can see I'm not overweight!

Is anyone else terrified every time they log into MN and see that "tell us your birth injuries" thread?! I haven't clicked on it, think it's a good idea to just ignore that one...

Aridia · 04/04/2018 12:59

Well said @ellsharks! BMI is so inaccurate! It does annoy me that so much emphasis is placed on it.
I didn't really want to tell work because I'm so nervous that something is going to go wrong, but I have told my manager. She's really good and will keep it to herself. I only told her because I'll need to take time out of the office for appointments, and if the worst did happen, I want to be able to go straight to a doctor without having to explain too much. But I think it does depend on your relationship with your manager, and the kind of work you do.

@AaronPurrSir Yeah I've seen that thread and I'm avoiding it! We've got plenty of time to worry about that haha!

HanahMarie · 04/04/2018 13:37

Hi - just introducing myself

Found out I was pregnant with our first 2 weeks ago (am now 7+2) - completely overjoyed as we have been "not-not-trying" since about June last year...

Slight spanner in the works is that 'Dad' decided to propose in Jan and we are getting married in October this year - that's right - gona be a shotgun wedding 🙈 if all goes to plan I will be 34+4 on our wedding day...

I'm already over it and despite having already ordered (and paid for) a dress that I now won't be able to wear - I'm already excited about carrying our baby down the isle

We have our first MW appt on 11th April which should put me at 8+2 - other than Dad so far I've only confided in my BFF (who has a 10month old - my goddaughter) as she smelt a rat as soon as I turned down sushi and wine and as a first time mum I needed someone who could help me with the early symptoms - and get me set up on here

So hi everyone - I look forward to sharing this journey with you all xHx

HanahMarie · 04/04/2018 13:41

So far symptoms include:

  • sore and massive boobs
  • light nausea and tummy rumbled
  • orange juice with ice cravings early on

But so far

  • no sickness
  • no weight gain
  • no food aversions
  • no bleeding

Happy days Smile

AaronPurrSir · 04/04/2018 17:30

I have probably gained weight but that’s more to do with food than baby Grin anyone else finding they are really hungry? I used to be able to eat breakfast at 9.30 and then could hold off til lunch at 2, but now I NEED a snack in between.

mollymoo0 · 04/04/2018 18:19

Yes I need more snacks to keep the nausea at bay

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/04/2018 18:30

I'm only 5 weeks but need to tell work as I am now a health and safety nightmare (manual handling, anaesthetic gases, x-rays, sharps, drug handling etc.) and I am also going to have a lot of appointments as I'm high risk (got to have a heart scan + cardiologist appointment every 4 weeks and a growth scan every 4 weeks) so am going to need a fair amount of time off over the next 8 months.

I was going to tell my manager tonight but I wimped out... I think I'll tell her via text later!!

GreenGooner · 05/04/2018 08:21

5 +6 for me today. My how I wish I hadn't worried about the lack of symptoms as I feel horrendous!!

How's everyone doing? I've decided against an early scan, going to try and wait it out. Should be a few weeks still until I hear from the midwife but I'm counting that as the next milestone to count down to. DH is being great and ordering I rest while he does the chores, which has massive surprised me as usually he's a lazy swine 😂

FlowerPower25 · 05/04/2018 09:49

Hi everyone, congratulations!

First baby for us, married 3 years. Bit of a surprise, but a very happy one. Currently 6weeks in, feeling exhausted and a bit nauseous but nothing much more than that.

Excited and nervous in equal measure!

mollymoo0 · 05/04/2018 10:09

I'm 6 weeks today also

How is everyone feeling today Smile

Aridia · 05/04/2018 10:24

Congratulations everyone! How's everyone doing today? I'm utterly exhausted. I'm clearly preparing myself for sleepless nights, I've barely slept for a week. My restless legs has been so much worse for the past week, even before we knew I was pregnant. And when I do sleep I'm having really stressy dreams that I'm bleeding. It's horrible! How's everyone else doing?

AaronPurrSir · 05/04/2018 11:24

I'll be 6 weeks on Saturday. Every week when I tick over into another week I feel a little less anxious. Have my early scan in 2 weeks and counting down the days.

Feeling quite nauseous today and have the beginnings of a headache.

ellsharks · 05/04/2018 11:49

@AaronPurrSir I am the same. I'm currently 6+6 and this week has been a lot less anxious than the last. I have an early scan next weekend when I will be 8 weeks. I'm so excited but still holding myself back which is so depressing as I want to really enjoy it lol... vicious circle.

I feel quite good today. Boobs still hurt. Keep feeling as though I have Diarehha but it never comes... Weird!

ND348 · 05/04/2018 12:23

Booking appointment arrived in the post! Three weeks time when I will be 8+1. Think the letter arriving made it seem really real to DH!
Couldn't resist booking and early scan which will be the day before as I want to tell my mum and dad when they visit that week and want confirmation there is actually something in there! Counting down the days and still really nervous....

natashaarr · 05/04/2018 13:30

@aridia I’m the same! My restless legs were bad before I was pregnant and now they are so much worse!! I also keep waking up and checking I’m not bleeding because I’m dreaming that I am, it’s sending me crazy!

EL332 · 05/04/2018 16:17

Hi everyone - it's really intesresting to compare all the symptoms -

Is anyone suffering with morning sickness yet?

I have waves of nausea and was sick once last week but so far no more sickness...

My boobs are still v tender and I'm still exhausted - twinges in my tummy as less severe now but still come and go...

I feel like there should be more going on???

I have just booked an early scan for the 14th of April so I'm really looking forward to that... but also feel really anxious about the baby being there and being ok...

I have my NHS scan on Friday 18th May and still haven't had a letter for my booking appointment yet...

I hope everyone is managing to look after themselves and getting enough rest ❤️❤️❤️

Is anyone else just spending their time wondering whether they're still pregnant or not? I don't feel any different!!
