If it's anything like my school I can see them 'making do' with that!!

Ktn35 · 30/04/2018 18:38

The amount of people asked to teach subjects that are not their own! They asked me (an English teacher) to teach Y8 Design and Technology last term???!!!!

niclw · 30/04/2018 18:43

That's the opposite of our head of tech. She is teaching English to year 8. They have told her that they plan on using non specialists for tech when she goes on maternity leave in October. I've jokingly suggested that my only other teacher has all of year 9, 10 and 11 in the Hall and teaches them at once but got a feeling that it might end up being reality .

I used to work at a vocational college and it was exactly the same there, last minute adverts for something they knew about for months!! 3 people have left the same dept since I did in Jan and only 1 job is being replaced so they have anyone teaching really specialised subjects. I feel bad for the students.

So sorry that appeared twice!!!! I can't get rid of it!

Ktn35 · 30/04/2018 20:37

It's mad. We have a cover supervisor who has her own Y8 English class this term! The budget cuts are really starting to be felt now.

dinomad · 30/04/2018 21:46

So glad I got out and have a much less stressful job now, think the stress from teaching is what made it take 2 years to conceive as once I'd finished there, bam positive test!!

Ktn35 · 30/04/2018 22:33

How do you delete/edit posts here? I'm always noticing typos after I've posted!

Sushirolls · 01/05/2018 02:05

How lovely & what a relief when you finally see baby on the scan @Ktn35 😍

I've bought my DD a 4D scan package, I can't wait to see my DGS again 💕

Re the Facebook group, I'm presuming it's not for expectant nannies?! Xo

sososotired · 01/05/2018 05:45

I'm not sure that it's just in teaching, you work at a private school as a chef we have boarders so literally doing breakfast lunch and dinner every day of the week. My maternity cover has not been discussed as yet, now unless they are going to get agency staff I'm getting a little concerned that the team is going to be rather stretched from September....... trying to convince myself that it's not my problem 🙈

sososotired · 01/05/2018 05:45

** I not you

Ktn35 · 01/05/2018 07:46

That's how I'm seeing it. Nobody will blame us for having a baby and we just shouldn't stress ourselves out about it!

TheBlindspot · 01/05/2018 08:18

@Ktn35 You can't, only MNHQ can edit or delete! It's so annoying, especially when you have an autocorrect nightmare

Afraid not @Sushirolls, it's for pregnant ladies only but if your daughter would like to join she's more than welcome. I want to keep it a safe space for women to post about anything, so I've already said no to Dad's joining, it'd be a bit unfair following that to let grandparents join. There are other groups out there for Dads so if you do a search I'm sure there will be similar for grandparents.

Hi everyone, I’m 18 weeks pregnant and a nervous wreck, I haven’t felt baby move off kick yet but all the scans say he’s fine (I had an early gender scan) I don’t want to pester my midwife but I suffer from anxiety and all I can think about is that the baby has died :(

sososotired · 01/05/2018 18:38

@ShanC97 you won't be bothering anyone if you have any concerns about you or your baby then phone the midwife she will be happy to give you piece of mind possibly a Doppler to hear the baby's little heart 💓 beating away! To be honest I'm sure all of us have at some point been anxious 😟

ShanC97 · 01/05/2018 18:41

Thanks for your reply I will give her a ring, I really don’t know why I’m so anxious when everything was fine last week!

deste · 01/05/2018 22:30

Sushirolls I am going with my DD tomorrow for her scan. The baby wouldn’t move last time so she has to go back again. She is 22 weeks now. She doesn’t know what she is having but is hoping she can see but she has been told not to ask so that they have a surprise.

snowy1982 · 02/05/2018 08:33

General question for the group, when is it (or is it ever) too soon to start monitoring movements.

I am 21+5 and have been feeling movements for about 3 weeks now, I thought there was a bit of a pattern emerging (active first thing in morning and late in evening) and the frequency and strength were increasing. The last couple days things have been changing though, strength is still there but frequency seems to be decreasing slightly and time of day for movements are all over the place now (this may be related to another flare of of constipation or may not be).

From my research I think I shouldn’t really be noticing a pattern yet so maybe this change is nothing to be concerned about, but should I call the midwife just in case?

niclw · 02/05/2018 09:56

@snowy1982 My midwife said she would talk to me about monitoring movements at my next appt then start properly at 26 weeks.

snowy1982 · 02/05/2018 10:21

@niclw, so you think this isn’t something worth worrying about? I don’t want to be panicking at the slightest of changes but I just don’t know what’s worth worrying about (if that makes sense).

niclw · 02/05/2018 11:15

@snowy1982 I wouldn't worry yet. Baby is still too small and movements can sometimes not be felt as a result. I've noticed that I sometimes feel baby late afternoon but not always. If I do it's on my left side. I have assumed that it's somewhere else when I haven't felt it. If you need reassurance though contact your midwife as she might be able to let you hear the heartbeat on a Doppler.

snowy1982 · 02/05/2018 11:41

@niclw, see that’s my conundrum, I can’t quite decide if I do need reassurance of not. Logically I know baby is still quite small and can be moving away without me feeling a thing (like in my scan last week I felt nothing but sonographer commented on how much baby was moving) but I am unsure of when I should start to worry if that makes sense.

Maybe that’s what I should ask midwife, when do I need to worrySmile

itallhappensforareason · 02/05/2018 12:07

@snowy I think they say you should START to notice a regular pattern around 24 weeks, with it turning into an actual pattern by 28 weeks? I wouldn't worry yet but as always it's better to get advice from your midwife if you are concerned!!

snowy1982 · 02/05/2018 12:30

@itallhappens, yip most things I read seemed to state the same think, but came across a few bits that said no matter what stage you are at you should get it checked. Left MW a voicemail saying I had some queries re monitoring, so hopefully when she calls back I’ll get more guidance as to when I should be monitoring (worrying)
